A classic from the a master log builder. Lots and lots of color pictures and great easy to read diagrams. For those who really want to build there own log cabin themselves. Deals mostly with hand scribed round log construction. A+

A great book! From the guy that started the whole log building
industry 30 years ago and continues to teach it worldwide. The main point here that Mr. Mackie
illustrates is that you can do it yourself and that what you get is so much more than just a house.It's a lifestyle!Just the kind of message people need these days when everything is so high tech. Wood is good for the soul!! Keep up the good work Allan!

I was so excited and still am about the idea of this product. However, at least 3 of the colors were so dried up that I could not even use them...which of course makes it difficult for a paint-by-number!

This kit is fantastic!!! It is really a lot of fun & the paintings cover nearly every taste in paint-by-number artwork you can think of (except for kitties!). The kit itself is really neat. One side contains the canvases, 10 in all. The canvases themselves are a Japanese scene, a French scene with a poodle, two puppies in a basket, a Southwest scene with pottery, a snowy cabin, the Mona Lisa, Sunflowers, a large ship at sea, a still-life of fruit & two parrots. The other side contains the paints, 2 brushes & a neat little book on the history of the art form.

Some things to consider & are usually true with any kit.

1. The paints are REALLY thick! This is good in the sense that you can water them down a lot, but they do require prep work before you can use each paint pot. Water, stirring, more water, etc. Use some toothpicks & stir well!

2. The brushes are WAY too thick! I have some of my own brushes from other kits & you really need a very small one for the tiny pieces.

3. Always fill in the spots with the arrows before the bigger places! Otherwise, how else will you know what to do?

4. The blended colors don't always come out exactly, but that's what makes each piece unique. Try mixing with one drop at a time. I ended up making too much of a few color combos & went through the other canvases to see if I could use that color elsewhere. The colors also didn't match to the pictures in the book, sometimes they were way off! The pictures in the book were too small also, but they gave you a general idea.

5. Several colors, especially the dark ones, needed a couple of coats. You will tell this when you put on the first coat.

I started with the Japanese scene & will be moving to the other pieces soon!

Just bought a copy of Douglas Brenner's Real Art ! In a word, stupdendous. I labored over the Mona Lisa for several weeks. This is almost as good as the original. Authentic colors, vivid hues, all at a reasonable cost. If you're looking to buy a gift early for the kids for Christmas, this is the perfect choice for "hues". Enjoy and don't listen to those other reviews. They're way off the mark - Jeanne

Lust Circus has a great collection of photos. The colors are vivid and the models look at ease. Not your typical angry looking domme with a whip in her hand. the shots are more candid and some are poolside. All with nice furniture and interesting surroundings. All of the girls aren't beautiful, but I found the book to be worth getting.

On the strength of the other reviews I decided to pick this up. But I found it to be a fairly dissatisfying. Inside were page after page of women who look like over the hill exotic dancers. Heavily made up & dispassionate faces peer out at you. Some of the clothes were fairly interesting, but not enough to make up for the rest.

Though in my opinion alot of the photos are fairly blan, there are indeed some that a worth while. Most of the photos seem to be snapshot style scene photos and others are simply portrait style fetish shots.

Having never written a review of a book I hesitated putting to print my views of Lust Circus by Dave Naz. But I find myself compelled...

Dave is masterful in his lighting and his control of depth of field. In each image I feel as though I am there in that moment the exposure is made. The women convey a comfort with Dave that is not lost when the photograph is viewed in the book. The images, emotions and attitudes are as diverse as a circus. Alot of the enjoyment in viewing his book is the anticipation of what's next as you turn each page.

I highly recommend Lust Circus by Dave Naz and look forward to his next book.

Great Comic Book For All Ages!.......2005-04-12

I first bought the #2 Shades of Blue for Mary, my 13 year old. Both of us were pretty happy with the writing and the characters in the issue (I hate to admit I bought it for her and I actually enjoyed reading it as well).

Heidi is an average high school girl with unwanted super powers (aren't all tennagers). She fights off villians around her school with her friends against teachers and arch-rival teen enemies.

Shades of Blue became much better when in the third issue with a new artist, that the artwork caught up to the writing. After issue three the art feels like MTV's Daria ... only hipper.

Well, to make a long story short, This is an excellent collection of the first five issues. I think there was over 10 issues or so total issues - I didn't get to collect them all since my local comic book store didn't carry very many copies of each issue (not for lack of trying - they said). Maybe we will be blessed with a Volume 2 or 3 to round out the story of Heidi and friends for us.

Again let me start over... Well, to make a long story short, This is an excellent collection of the first five issues. My favorite ... urr, I mean my daughter Mary's favorite issue is the 5th issue (last in this collection), but the story gets going at its best in issues 7-9.

Home Ec - A history.......2006-11-06

This text is the required reading for a class, The History and Philosophy of Family and Consumer Science, at Immaculata University, Immaculata Pennsylvania. Gratefully, the instructor does not have enough time in the semester to have us read every chapter. The book is a series of essays that jump around and are not chronological. I needed a dictionary by my side in order to understand some of the terminolgy used throughout the text. Most of the students in class agreed that the book is pretty difficult to comprehend.

In seventeenth-century North America, communities on eastern Long Island were an integral part of the tumultuous and dynamic New England region and the larger Atlantic American world. They were created and modified by ideas and traditions that were inherent to life in Atlantic America and were not simply imported from Europe or established solely by settlers and imposed on native peoples.

In Crossing the Sound Faren R. Siminoff skillfully weaves new data with sophisticated theoretical analysis to demonstrate that the development of eastern Long Island was based more on complex interactions between settlers and native peoples than on clashes between the two groups. English and Dutch colonists did not merely transport traditional systems of land ownership, political organizations, and control of economic resources to the Northeast. Rather, both settlers and natives underwent a process of negotiation, resulting in a hybrid society that adapted and reworked new and old patterns of life, highlighting the lasting influence of native communities on the emerging American identity.

This compelling case study adds new layers to the history of the Atlantic world: it becomes a story without a dominant voice or community at its core, demonstrating that neither monolithic groups nor static interests prevailed in the region.
