NOT A BOOK ABOUT PORCHES. HOUSE PLANS ONLY... .......2006-10-27
This is not a book about porches, but rather a house plans book. You've seen those "books" in the magazine racks at your favorite mega-chain bookstore: a softcover book of house plans. Sure, all the house plans have porches - in one form or another - but you will not learn anything about porches in this book.
Beautiful Plans for Homes with Porches.......2004-12-19
I picked this book up when I was looking for a house plan that included porches (which the first reviewer should have known if they'd read the title!). I'd looked through so many house plan books and found the perfect plan in this book! It's great! Lots of color pictures and beautiful house plans. If you're looking for something different, this book is for you.
Inviting Porches.......2003-07-09
This book has a beautiful front cover and several pages of color photos. However, the vast majority of the book is comprised of house plans, many of which that do not have porches other than small stoops. These house plans contain no specific reference to porches, there are no individual porch plans, drawings or elevations. This is a very disappointing book that utterly fails to live up to it's cover....

Stunning black and white masterpiece.......1999-05-22
Published in 1979, Yosemite and the Range of Light is 116 impressive prints demonstrating the mastery of Ansel Adams. The book contains poster classics like "Clearing Winter Storm, Yosemite Valley, 1944, Moon and Half Dome, Yosemite Valley, 1960, and Winter Sunrise, Sierra Nevada, from Lone Pine, 1944." Non students of Mr. Adams will discover many "unseen" photographs that are beautiful in their own right but did not have the mass-market appeal of his classics. Too valuable to be a coffee table book, this collection is the archetype for fine art books. My copy is a family treasure.

Wonderful Photography.......2004-02-04
This book does justice to the professionalism
and the expertise of a once in a life time Artist. I
exspected the book would be dull and boring before I
began to view the photography. Mr Adams work is soo
exciting, that some of the photo's make one gasp as you
turn the pages. I never thought of Photography as exciting
until I obtained this book. Ansel Adams deserves every credit
he has recieved and more. He was truly a great professional.

ASIN: 1931514461 |
Book Description
In a school where martial arts are standard curriculum, it takes more than great grades to rise to the top of the class. As rival students at Daimon High throw down their best moves in all-out K-Fight battle, the action in the ring heats up more than ever. Samurai Girl Ryoko is set on breaking bones as a Samurai Nurse, but there are plenty of challengers ready to knock her out for good! And with teachers entering the ring to duke it out, all bets are off. Who has time for homework when there's a battle to catch?

Breaking down barrier.......2006-06-04
"Real Bout High School" gains speed and strength in its second volume, as we get to know the characters and see a few more entertaining, action-packed battles. Reiji Saiga still has some flaws in the series -- like how new characters are introduced -- but it's still high-octane fun.
A new K-fight is about to begin: Star fighter Shizuma is facing off against a TEACHER, Mr. Saotome. And though Ryoko pretends that it has nothing to do with her, Shizuma's victory changes her life even more, now that Real Bout is ruled by battle rather than by school rules. She certainly isn't getting much studying done.
But Ryoko is thinking about other things than fighting, such as the handsome, quiet Tatsuya. She prepares for a school play, scrabbles with various thugs on the school grounds, rejects creepy guys, and threatens shutterbug/stalker Daiseku. But then Ryoko receives a shocking piece of news about Tatsuya, which could derail all her hopes...
The second volume of "Real Bout High School" is a bit slower and more character-based than the first. The whole first chapter is crammed with fighting, and Ryoko, Shizuma and another guy have a humorous battle later on ("Justice is served!" Ryoko says cheerfully, sitting on a downed enemy). It wouldn't be "Real Bout" if nobody fought.
But the pace slows down as we get to know Ryoko, Tatsuya and all the other characters. Saiga has a tendency to just drop the characters in without introduction or warning, so it's nice to get to know them. And there's even more humor in this one, such as Ryoko and Hitomi spending the day together. Toxic cooking, superhuman workouts, and surreal graduation practice ensues!
Ryoko gets the most expansion in this volume; we get to see her strong, embarrassed, freaked out, and explosive. We also get some idea of her insecurities, and what makes her tick. Tatsuya is a dark horse still, but Shizuma is making it pretty clear that he likes Ryoko, although the feeling isn't mutual yet. (How many times has he asked out out to eat?)
The second "Real Bout High School" is a solid expansion on the first volume, with a good balance of action and solid characters. Adrenaline packed comedy.
getting better.......2004-08-01
I wasn't sure how I felt about this series after reading the first volume, but in this volume it seems to be getting better. In this volume, Shizuma participates in a K-Fight with a teacher, and Ryoko and Tatsuya are in a play together. This volume gives readers a little more insight into Ryoko, although Tatsuya seems to become more mysterious. I'm still not sure how much more in going on in Shizuma's mind, other than his next fight, but I like him anyway. Daisaku, Ryoko's biggest fan, is around for a bit, being cute and more than a bit stalker-like. I'm still not sure if I would recommend this series, but at least is seems to be getting better. I'm looking forward to the next volume.
Azumi another fighter!!.......2003-10-26
in this vol. they start a k-fight where all the samuri's og to fight, and of course the first is shizuma, he is honestly funny, but thne gets into a fight with a teacher which really lights the fire, and of course a new contestant eneters the fight, she keeps that smile on her face and never takes it off, that is azumi, while her fighting with shizuma she spots ryokos crush and hugs him and thati s what makes ryoko realll y fierce by saying"that gate crashing little harlot" really funny, and that is when her and azumi fight both are quick at speed and movement, but in the end ryoko wins the match and azumi'ds smile is wiped off her face, then we find out later that her crush is leaving and that is what makes ryoko really go down the hill.....
Real Bout rocks!.......2003-03-20
I LOVE Real Bout High School. It's fun, sweet, tough, silly, stupid, and cool all at once. The characters are awesome, and could give Ranma Saotome or even Kenshin a run for their money. Ryoko Mitsurugi is beautiful, arrogant, powerful, an accomplished sword master, and thinks of herself as a modern day samurai. Her rival Azumi Kiribiyashi is gorgeous, conceited, strong, a naginata master, and a devious witch. Together they fight for the affections of the kendo captain, who remains oblivious to their interest, even when it is applied with a sledgehammer (which it usually is).
While all this is going on, Ryoko is stalked by a boy obsessed with her and her adventures. He records every K-fight she has and takes pictures of her to sell to classmates. And Shizuma continues to taunt her and challenge her.
Another wonderful installment in a gem of a series.

Biggir.......2001-12-11
There are virtually no books out there on the development of the SDF (Self-Defense Forces) from August 1945 to the present...virtually. Maeda's account of three primary phases of SDF development from reconstruction, to the economic boom, to the present is extremely weel-done, factually accurate, neither nationalist or apologist propaganda, it points out the apparent inconsistencies between the famous Article 9 prohibiting war and an army and modern practice and legal interpretations (like its OK for Japan to possess "defensive" nuclear weapons) and the simple fact that Japan, and the United States and South Korea all need an effective, modern professional military in Japan. Read this book, you will NOT regret it.
Well, I haven't read it all..........2001-03-01
but I've apparently read more of it than anyone else, and I've found the chapters that I did read to be fascinating. I would probably have rated it more highly but I couldn't give it 5 without making it all the way through. Fascinating and a side of things that we tend not to even consider in the West. THis or something like it is essential for a balanced understanding of Japanese foreign policy and the factions that dominate it.

The young man, Jefferson Davis.......2004-03-06
The Papers of Jefferson Davis is a project out of Rice University in Houston, Texas. The entire series is well-edited, nicely produced and the format of the series is reader-friendly. The books reproduce all of the letters Davis wrote, as well as his speeches, telegrams and the responses to his letters. The responses appear in the footnotes and the appendix of the books.
For anyone with an interest in the American Civil War, Jefferson, or the politics of the Confederacy, these are welcome volumes. Most surprising to me is that Davis comes across privately as an intelligent, sometimes witty man. His letters to hiw wife, Varina, are especially intriguing. Highly recommended.

Book Description
This book is devoted to a broader understanding of liposomes as a versatile tool used in many domains, including basic research and applied technology, focusing on less common applications and recent developments.Over the past few years, new types of liposomes made of nonphospholipid molecules have opened new perspectives in applications. These lipid vesicles, already used in cosmetology, are being manufactured for industrial and agricultural uses. However, "Stealth" liposomes, pH-sensitive liposomes, and cationic liposomes have enlarged and improved the application field of liposomes in clinical research. The book covers these different uses of liposomes with particular attention to new formulations and new applications.
