This is the only book of making animal animation that you will need, in this book you can find detail by detail, step by step, and from all angles how to animate dogs, lions,cats, horses, all kind of birds, fihes,etc, etc, etc. This book is worth $100 dollars and much more, and just paying 15 or less is a real deal, is like getting it for free.

More Methods of a Manga Master.......2005-01-13

Like its precursor, Osamu Tezuka's School of Animation volume 1, this wonderful book explains the secrets behind convincing anime style animation with clarity and expertise. In this book the focus is on the movements of animals, like lions, birds and monkeys. It is especially helpful with breaking down the four-legged or "quadriped" walk, which can be very tricky to animate convincingly. It also includes sample animation flipbooks within the pages. I recommend ages 10 and up buy this book in companion with volume 1.

For 25 years Earl Dotter's photographs have been recording for us the human cost of America's economic miracle. This collection is a vivid chronicle of those who labor in unhealthy and unsafe jobs, victimized by "The Quiet Sickness." Dotter's workers are from virtually all our essential industries and his comments are as enlightening as his photographs are moving. This book is not just vital for those active in labor, management, education and government. It is a compassionate look at people doing work few of us ever see. Wonderful twist to a classic.......2007-01-27

I am so glad I bought this manga. ::big grin:: I haven't had a chance (yet) to read the original translated version of "The Book Of A Thousand Nights And A Night", but this manga had piqued my interest. The art is nice, and the characters are interesting.

Very Surprising.......2006-08-14

I am not normally one to read shôjo or yaoi manga/manhwa, preferring books like "Lone Wolf and Cub", but when I saw a preview for this in a friend's Ice Kunion collection I thought the twist looked interesting and the art was very good. So I bought a copy, and was pleasantly surprised that the story held up to my expectations, too. The characacters are three dimensional wiithout being overly dramatic, the stopry flows beautifully, and as another reviewer mentioned, it is not all cute and silly, which is a good thing. There are some very adult themes going on (especially in volume 2) which may make some readers uncomfortable, but the pain of the charachters makes their plights more moving in my opinion. I await future volumes.

Better than the first one........2006-07-26

The second one actually gets the rest of the story rolling, so if you found the first manhwa boring, do give this one a try. Also, there are elements of boy love in it, so if that offends you it's best to steer clear of this.

That said, Sehara is an awesome character, and I can't wait to see how the entire cast grows.

Interesting New Take.......2006-02-05

This manga is an interesting new take on 1001 Arabian Nights. I like that all of the characters are fleshed-out and human. The sultan's bitter actions are motivated; the storyteller's choices seem reasonable; the sultan's best friend is the voice of reason. The stage is set for many new stories to be told. There is a sufficient amount of mystery about the sultan and the storyteller to keep readers interested in their fate, and the stories told by the storyteller are interesting and well-balanced, as well as complex and bittersweet. The art is also gorgeous. I'd love to read the second volume, when it comes out. I hope that the authors will let us see the sultan and the storyteller change over time; although I enjoy the stories that are told by the young storyteller, I do want to know how the main characters are going to be affected by the stories.

Great manwha!.......2006-02-01

One Thousand and One Nights is a story about Sehara, a man who disguises himself as a woman so he can save his sister, Dunya, from the crazy emperor who kills the women he sleeps with the next day. Sehara is found out to be a man from the beginning, and he starts to tell a tale about love...
The art in this book is unique and sets the tone of the story. It's not a book for kids though. They're some blood and stuff that's not suitable for young readers. Also, the story isn't all cute and happy, so that's another reason I like it...

One Thousand One Papua New Guinean Nights is a two-volume collection of folktales that were published in Papua New Guinea's Wantok newspaper. The folktales were originally published in Tok Pisin, the pidgin English language of Papua New Guinea. The two-volume collection presents the complete set of 1047 folktales that were originally published from 1972 through 1997 in Tok Pisin. This collection is one of the largest general collections of Papua New Guinean folktales; all of Papua New Guinea's provinces are represented and approximately 35% of Papua New Guinea's 700 language/culture groups are represented. This first volume presents the introduction and 550 folktales; the second volume presents the remaining folktales.

Good.......2002-01-19

I'm a fan of oral biographies, of which this is one. I like the immediacey of collected interview quotes, so like the way this book was presented. It's an interesting look at Mailer's life. The bit that impressed me most, was the example of the liberal elite giving a free pass to Mailer for committing a violent crime because he was one of theirs. When Mailer stabbed his wife, sending her to the hospital for a good stay, and himself to an insane asylum, the New York liberal elite pretty much excused Mailer for his behavior! The cocktail party talk about Mailer in Fifth Ave apartments was that Norman must have been a little upset, etc. He was in their clique so it was okay! It was a total duplication of the liberal elites' excusing of Bill Clinton's raping Juanita Broaddrick (read Christopher Hitchens' book NO ONE LEFT TO LIE TO for more on that). Hitchens interviewed three women who independent of each other said Bill Clinton raped them. But the liberal elite excuses Bill Clinton because he's one of theirs! I can't help but think that being a member of the liberal elite is like being the member of a cult. Anyway, it's stuff like this that makes Manso's biography of Mailer worth reading.

The Merkava, or Chariot, was the first tank entirely designed and built by the Israeli Army. The IDF had previously been using a variety of vehicles, acquired from various sources, including in particular the Sherman and Centurion. The Merkava was designed specifically for the type of warfare and opponents that Israel faced. The resulting tank was heavily armoured and packed a powerful 105mm main gun backed up with a digital fire control system and laser range-finder. This title examines the development and deployment of the Merkava, investigating the changing technical aspects of the various marks, creating a useful and comprehensive study of Israel’s most formidable tank.

Great Modelling Guide, but Not Much Hard Info.......2002-10-29

Many reviewers forget that this book originally came out in 1997 although the lastest New Vanguard reprint occurred this year (2002). What that means is although the Merkhava Mk.IV made its' debut this year, the book has material that is now dated (The book's text only alludes to the Merkhava Mk.IV).

However, the New Vanguard series isn't a sales brochure meant to be the latest and greatest, but a book of historical art plates and background information for modellers, gamers, and military history enthusiasts. If you're buying the book as I did looking for great color plates and some background information then this is a great buy. I love my copy. Peter Sarson, the illustrator, is world-renowned and well-deserving of his spectacular cut-aways and drawings. I've found the book incredibly useful for the paintjobs and extra detailing on the Merkhava models I'm working on.

Don't buy this book if you only want up-to-date statistical information about the Merkhava tank series...

BUT, do buy this book if you're looking for wonderful color plates of the Merkhava tanks, a useful history of the tank, some great photographs, and some other great information. I recommend the book for those reasons.

My only criticism is that the book gives the lion's share of credit for the Merkhava design to General Tal, but many sources are now beginning to credit another officer, Yisrael Tilan - who also designed the tank, quarreled with Tal and later left the project. Hopefully another publisher will eventually give Yisrael Tilan the credit that he deserves.

Shortline, re-engage.......2000-04-08

What makes the Merkava unique in modern MBTs is the engine in front approach to crew protection. This means that there is access via a hatch in the rear of the vehicle, yet there one interior drawing (cut away) is not detailed enough to gain a real appreciation of what the designers accomplished.

Overall, this book is ok for a modeler, but I would want to see more of the interior of this tank.

BOOK CAME OUT A FEW MONTHS TOO SOON........2000-02-06

Because the IDF tank corps modifies the Merkava Chariot tank once each decade, then Mr. Katz should have known that the version for the entire next decade of 2000 to 2010 was only months away. Sure enough the announcement in November that the new Merkava Mk4 with the 1500 hspw pack with unique kinetic energy amunition was in production and under going field test that have exceeded 10,000 hours by November 5th, 1999. So much has been up graded electronically as well as performance that it rates as much fanfaren as the introduction of the first Merkava! I hope the author will consider an up dated or revised edition and yes, more color photo's and interior detail would not hurt either... Thanks

Many photos of all the Merkava versions, but little info.......2000-01-19

This book covers well the history of the Merkava. The introduction has a summary of many years of history of the IDF armoured forces which led to the development of this tank.

The book includes lots of photos of the Merkava I, II and III, from several angles and close-ups.

However, no colour photos are included. Information is rather sparse and tends to be a bit superlative. There is little information about the tank interior.

A comparison table of the three models is provided, but physical dimensions, forward and reverse speed, vertical obstacle clearing, etc. are missing (they are only mentioned for the Merkava II). Also it would be good to see a comparison against western and eastern tanks (specially the T-72).

Good but not great..........1999-02-09

Some of the pictures were new to me, and I liked the author picking up U.S. estimates about certain facets of the vehicle that are kept more closely under wraps by the IDF (like about the number of Merkavas destroyed in combat). Also, the few pages devoted to the history of IDF armor helped to put the Merkava into context.

But parts of the book did sound at times, as another reviewer noted, like a sales brochure. I know the IDF tankers love the vehicle (I agree from everything that I have read... it is a world-class MBT), but I'd rather hear it in their words.

Also, I think the part about the M256 main gun (produced in the U.S. under license from Rheinmetal in Germany) being discarded in favor of an "indigenous" design for the Mk III is a bit off. I'd always read that it was an indigenously produced, licensed version of the Rheinmetal gun, not an entirely Israeli design from breech block to barrel tip.

Magnetic storms may cause damage to satellites, radiation hazard to astronauts, disruption of radio communications, and interruption of ground electric power lines. Space weather prediction becomes an important issue to be addressed in the twenty-first century. International Solar Terrestrial Program (ISTP) employs five satellites to probe the solar wind and magnetosphere, providing valuable information for space weather prediction. The Asia-Pacific region is becoming one of the economic centers in the world. The continuous drive for scientific and technological progress in parallel is evidenced by the establishment of many space research organizations in many countries of this area. In Taiwan, the National Space Program Office (NSPO) established her third satellite program -- COSMIC (Constellation Obsering Systems for Meteorology, Ionosphere and Climate), which is a science experiment to demonstrate the utility of atmospheric radio limb soundings from a constellation of six low-earth orbiting satellites in operational weather prediction, space weather monitoring, and climate monitoring and research.
In order to provide a forum to discuss the many new results in this rapid-moving field and to forge international collaborations, a three-day COSPAR Colloquium on "Space Weather Study Using Multipoint Techniques" was held. This colloquium have provided a forum for experts from the international community to present new results on the timely topic "space weather".
