I purchased this item expecting to see architectual details for some of the fine Victorian houses in Martha's Vineyard.
Instead, I was very disappointed to find out that it's an architectural firm's catalog listing plans to order.

Hilarious view of the west.......2000-05-02

This is a great party book. People will be laughing for hours as they look at all the loney pictures.

My favorite is the "Montana Double date" (Two unsaven cowhands and thier dogs in beat car.) And while I like Montanian's this picture of the 2 near-do-well's and their dogs just was great. So if you have sensitive skin, and can't take having your state mentioned in jest don't buy this book.

As a lifelong fan of the San Francisco Chronicle in general and "Farley" in particular (as well as a total Yosemite freak!), each summer I look forward to the inevitable installments involving Phil Frank's bear trio (proprietors of "The Fog City Dumpster" restaurant in SF) and neatnik camper Mrs. Melmac (who immediately sets off bug bombs in the area around her massive RV when she arrives for the summer) in Yosemite Valley. So you can imagine my delight when I found that all those terrific strips were put in one magnificent collection!

Every summer the bears and Mrs. Melmac take off for Yosemite - Mrs. Melmac in her RV, the bears whichever way they can (one year they hijacked a SF Muni bus) and the fun begins! It's great to be able to relive these moments over and over. Two thumbs up!

There have been many, perhaps far too many, books which try to use chaos & complexity theory as a model for therapy. Most such books have only the most limited understanding of either chaos/complexity theory or therapy. This book stands out because the authors are both working therapists and experts in non-linear dynamics. And perhaps most importantly, they know how to write in a way that is useful to therapists, as well as to anyone who wants to think deeply about how human beings grow and change.

Book Description

This book explores how women of the poorer and middling sorts in early modern England negoitated a patriarchal culture in which they were generally excluded, marginalized, or subordinated. It focuses on the networks of close friends ('gossips') which gave them a social identity beyond the narrowly domestic, providing both companionship and practical support in disputes with husbands and with neighbours of either sex. The book also examines the micropolitics of the household, with its internal alliances and feuds, and women's agency in neighbourhood politics, exercised by shaping local public opinion, exerting pressure on parish officials, and through the role of informal female juries. If women did not openly challenge male supremacy, they could often play a significant role in shaping their own lives and the life of the local community.

The Broader Implications of Turbulence.......2006-12-24

Not meant to be a study of turbulence but of the underlying factors associated with it and its implications related to the study of complexity in general. It is somewhat technical in its terminology but uses only a necessary minimum of the mathematics associated with the analysis of turbulence Based on my reading of the first two chapters it reads more like a tutorial and lacks the tone of continuity of thought. However, this may be due to the translation into English and the editing of the four authors combined thought. It is well worth reading the foreword, prefaces, and the translators note first before reading the text in order to get the authors intention regarding teleonomy versus teleology as it relates to the subject matter. The points raised, though in some instances not poignantly clear, are thought provoking and the book is worth reading if you want to go beyond the cut and dry mechanics of turbulence in order to appreciate the broader implications of turbulence in the understanding of nature.
