This books strength lies in the way it is layed out. The chapters are layed out in the exact order in which a home is built. This has been very helpful in scheduling my own project.

The book is organized from the prospective of a purchaser of a new home and what they should expect. The chapters are organized like a timeline as a home is completed.

Details about individual steps are kept to a minimum, which for the purpose of this book is good. This is an ideal purchase for somebody who has, or is about to purchase a new home prior to it being built.

ALAN SIEGEL is chairman and CEO of Siegelgale, a strategic marketing firm. He studied photography with Alexei Brodovitch and Lisette Model before embarking on a successful career in design and advertising. An avid collector of photography since the early 1960s, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the International Center of Photography and The Center for Communications, and is a member of the photography committee at the Museum of Modern Art.

MILES BARTH was the founding curator of the permanent collection at the International Center of Photography. A leading authority on contemporary photography, he has written a number of books and has organized numerous photography exhibitions.

Full of Mystery.......2002-01-27

Instead of seeing a photographer's work, it presents the B/W plus a few colour photographs collected by the world known graphic designer, Alan Siegel (to know more about his graphic design, see Sagmeister - Make You Look). He tells the story behind his profession, and how photography evoles from hobby, to professional photography, and to collection. At the end, the importance of the images is linking to him personally and impacting him.

An interesting section is about circus, where the cover picture is remarkably full of mystery. The book is in extra-large size, which allows photos to be printed in fine resolution and size, somehow like a framed picture.

One Man's Ego.......2001-08-07

Don't get me wrong. This book is full of some wonderful and interesting photographs. It's the self-indulgent discourses at the beginning of each chapter that this book could live without. Just let the photographs speak for themselves.

On a purely superficial note, the binding of this book is ... a flimsy cardboard somewhere between a hardback and a softcover. Not what you'd expect from [the price of the] book.

It's a text book with lots of great examples of business challenges. I was required to purchase this book for my class but I also enjoy reading it (as much as I could any textbook) because the concepts are pretty easy to understand. There are also a lot of internet resources to enhance understanding of the concepts.

This book concentrates on govermental accounting, and really only has two chapters that specifically apply to non-profit accounting.

I would rate this book very highly for the non-accounting professional. The book takes the high level of technical terms and reduces it so that it is user friendly for all groups of business professionals.

As a pediatric RN at a midwestern children's hospital, I interact daily with children and families dealing with serious on-going illnesses. So, of course I was keenly interested in checking out Nancy Klein's "Healing Images..." resources. I now own my own set (book, CD, workbook) and am excited to have this opportunity to share my fierce passion for these materials!
When the onset of serious illness feels like an all-out attack on a child and his or her loved ones, Nancy Klein's book and related materials provide the effective counterattack armament to be used in conjunction with the medical treatment battle plan.
Here's a book built from profound compassion and filled with solid substance. Nancy's words and metaphor-stories are dynamically encouraging and soothingly nurturing for the ill child as well as their often overwhelmed family members and friends.
Aside from the goal of enhancing healing, this guide aims to imbue the healing journey with calmness, courage, and confidence. Ms. Klein hits the mark. The wonderful illlustrations by Matt Holden aptly support the cause.
This is an awesome resource for children, families, health care providers, and anyone who cares about someone with a serious illness! I'm telling everyone I can about this great book and the adjunct activity book and CD. I've personally purchased sets for several families in my community. Most of you, too, know of at least one family in the midst of a medical crisis. You may have been wondering what you can do. Know that such a child and family would desperately welcome and appreciate the huge heartfelt help that these materials deliver.

Sarah Berkovits' all-embracing knowledge of children and the many problems that accompany them make this book an impressive source of ideas to help both parents and teachers. The book is well laid out enabling the professional reader to easily access easily suggestions appropriate to the problem at hand.

The vivid examples of childrens' writing and their art show clearly that guided imagery has a positive, beneficial effect on the child. It is most pleasing to have seen at first hand the significant change that takes place so eloquently conveyed in the book and witnessed too in my own professional work using Ms Berkovits' suggestions. I have seen at first hand the successful outcomes deriving from the application of these suggestions.

For those facing these problems in the classroom and to parents coping with them at home, I warmly welcome and recommend this book as inspiring, helpful and original.

I am very happy with this book. I recently ran a adolescent girls therapy group and used a different relaxation exercise from the book at the start of each session, which the girls absolutely loved. Although, I did add my own twist on most of the exercises so they would fit more with my personal style. I have used a few of the games that require limited materials and have found them to be useful, especially with young children who have difficulty expressing themselves in therapy.

Just the facts, Ma'am..........2006-10-06

While much of what the modern AFSOC is engaged in globally is classified, there still should have been a lot more regarding the present day Ops (which IS readily available)...sadly, there wasn't.
The upside to the book was the fascinating account of the beginnings of the Air Force special ops, from the early pathfinders and OSS. Again, this could have been better had more photos from that era been included, along with declassified maps, tactical data, and so on.

There were a few glaring inconsistencies, but much of this could be attributable to typos, and not necessarily the author per se.

Overall, this is a decent book about a group of people coming together to form one of America's most potent forces for freedom and democracy.

If this were to be a great book, it would have to have more photos, corrections to the errors, and less "dramatic license" in retelling the stories. When it comes to military actions, the MORE facts...the better!

Fairly comprehensive overview of USAF SOps history. Nedlesly weak on facts in multiple areas including and especially the names of people present at events described. While memories often fade or become fuzzy with time too many lapses in accuracy cause one to question the accuracy in other areaswhere onehas no first hand knowledge. Good overview, but a little more.......1999-05-11

Good historical synopsis and background, in a readable format. But I was a trifle disappointed in ther author's coverage of present-day AFSOC. After all, the back cover blurb tells us that Air Force STTs "swim like Navy SEALs, attack like the Army's Delta Force, and fight lke hell anywhere, anytime." Yet Mr. Kelly hardly goes into any detail about the training the PJs and combat controllers go through. It would be great to know what their PT requirements are, hand-to-hand combat training, types of different small arms utilized, marksmanship standards, etc. Considering how unheralded and underappreciated Air Force special ops teams are compared to the endless volumes written on SEALs, Green Berets, etc., the above-mentioned types details would provide valuable insight into just how good these guys really are. But hey, any book written by someone with "Orr" in their name has to be doing something right!

Good overview of AF special ops history, but many errors........1997-08-08

Orr Kelly is somewhat of a specialist in the special operations genre. This book provides a good overview of USAF experience in that area. However, Kelly falls victim (as many have before him) to embellished stories. Some of these are recognizable as such on their face and should certainly not be repeated, no matter how lurid material may help sales. I was particularly irritated that Kelly checked some detail with me, received a correction, and then printed his version! He also has a problem with incorrect numbers sneaking through his proofing process. Thus, WWII B-24 production becomes 1800 vice the actual 18,000. Estimated 15,000 NVA dead becomes 1500. Range of the ZSU-23 (not ZPU-23 as he writes) becomes 20,000 feet vice its actual max effective range of 6000 feet. And so on. The number of these sort of errors casts doubt on the accuracy of the rest of the book. Good overview, unreliable history. Karl Polifka RAVEN 45 1969
