This is a great book and I have had a copy for many years. It has a wealth of information in it and I must admit, as with other Sears Homes Books, I couldn't put it down.

There are lot's of photo's and floor plans throughout the book.

Don't skip this one if you collect Sears Homes stuff.

Apparently a reprint of an old Sears Catalogue..........2000-09-24

If you're going to buy *all* the books out there on Sears Homes, you'll certainly want this one in your collection. It's a reprint of the 1912 Sears Modern Homes catalog.

And it has some designs of homes I'd not seen elsewhere and that makes it a valuable resource. But once again, it is JUST a reprint - not a contemporary book explaining the history and ongoing rehab of (now) historic Sears Catalogue Homes.

That being said, I have two copies and frequently recommend this book at my lectures.

The author of the book is Keith Underdahl and I think that is a cool book he wrote.

When I bought my digital camcorder, I wanted to learn how to quickly get up to speed with Movie Maker so I could share my movies. This author really knows what he's talking about, and it made my life a whole lot easier. This is a "must buy" for anyone who wants to make their own movies in Windows!

"At the Shore" centers around Marianne, a teenager who finds herself involved in a seemingly mundane adventure that grows increasingly more bizarre as she and her friends become integral players in it. A Solid But Unfortunately Dated Text Still Worth a Careful Read.......2007-04-07

Make no mistake- Laws have changed and REIT offerings have expanded since the first publication of this book. However, the text offers the best, most accessible summary of the key principles involved in REIT investing for the little guy. I would pay very close attention to the general principles outlined in chapters 3, 4 and 16. Several chapters in the book look at a distinct property type (multi-family residential, commercial, triple net lease, among others) and deserve attention as well. Ignore all of the stock data and company profiles, as all of that information is useless now, given all the changes that have happened in this space over the last decade.

Don't let the admitted dated nature of the text keep you from gleaning its important 'secrets'. Too many gullible investors look at REITs for their fat, juicy yields, and inevitably get burned in the process. Like I said, pay very close attention to chapters 3, 4 and 16, and in a pinch, before investing, consult chapters 4 and 16 before you commit your funds.

I wish the guy would write an updated version of this little gem of a book. Read this book before you read a book like Block's Investing In REITs (latest publication is the 3rd Edition, circa 2006 or 2007) in order to put this particular investment into proper perspective.

-it's out of date
-75% of the book is nothing more than a summary/overview of
existing reits. Basically book stuffin'
-one can obtain the above info from nareit.com and company
profiles from yahoo or other sites
-15% of it is the history of reits... nice to know but doesn't
help me pick the best reits
-10% is some basic accounting terminology and a vague sense
of what to look for in picking out a reit to invest in. I
already had this information from my web readings.

For someone with absouletly no knowledge of reits
or even investing I guess this would be a ok starting point.

A must read for divorced fathers!.......1997-11-18

Mr. Feuer's "Good Men: A Practical Handbook for Divorced Dads" should not only be read by divorced Dads, but also by divorcedMothers. His was the only book in ten full related shelves at my local bookstore that covers this subject. He touches on the fact that this subject has been neglected by the media and publishers. On the rare rare occasion when there is an aarticle or report, it is usually given in a negative slant. I am living proof that we, as divorced Dads, are descriminated against in the court system and in the community in general. I love my child more than life itself, and try to be the best Dad possible. With Mr. Feuer's book, I have taken the first steps in finding forgiveness and peace. Thank You Mr. Feuer

This is an outstanding compilation of experiences of front line soldiers relating what it was like to be in the front lines in and around Berlin at the end of World War II.

The book is not an orderly history of the Fall of Berlin. Instead, the book enriches one's general knowledge about that time period by recounting tales of derring-do, primarily from the German side. An exception is a very short account about a Russian corporal at Halbe, on the outskirts of Berlin. (Also, all but one story deal with the Eastern Front, i.e., the Russians.)

Altogther, these tales provide a powerful insight into the average German soldier's mindset as the defenders fought with limited resources against overwhelming odds.

In this book, you learn what it was like to be in the first line of defense when the Russians unleashed the largest military barrage in history to begin their final onslaught against Berlin.

You learn what it was like to discover that literally thousands of Russian tanks were coming straight at you.

You learn what it was like to be under siege by the Russians, including bombardments and repeated assaults directly on a position ordered to be held to the last man.

You learn what it was like to try to evade Russian patrols, and armies.

You learn the importance of the "Flak Towers" to the defense of the City.

You also learn what it was like for both soldiers and cvilians to try to escape the City in the last days in order to come under the auspices of anyone but the Russians.

One or more maps are provided for each story to make it easier to understand the action. A section of photos, including of many of the survivors whose tales are told, is included. There is even included in the Appendix the text of the award for the German Cross in Gold received by an NCO in the 1st SS Division Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler, whose exploits take up about a third of the book and in many ways are the most memorable.

(The German Cross in Gold was one of the higher awards for German military valor and had to be approved by at least an Army Group Commander. In this instance, however, it does not appear to have been given for any single action but for the award of the Close Combat Clasp in Gold, which, beginning in August 1944, automatically qualifed the holder for the German Cross in Gold. The Close Combat Clasp was given in recognition of hand-to-hand combat. The Close Combat Clasp in Gold meant the recipient had survived 50 days of hand-to-hand combat, or its equivalent.)

Gripping.......2006-10-01

In 1985, I had the opportunity to travel to West Berlin. It remains one of the most amazing trips of my life. Few cities affected me as Berlin did. Standing in the Reichstag was the culmination of this visit. Hard to describe the thoughts and emotions that course through a person who has studied and understood the events that occurred in that place.

Tony Le Tissier's book would have been a welcome companion during that trip. The Cold War was still on in 1985 and detail about the final days of the Third Reich were as of that date left untold.

Of all the accounts in this volume, Willi Rogman's descriptions of the last battles around the Reichstag and the subsequent attempts to break out of the city are absolutely amazing. Some of his tale is very nearly unbelievable...but truth is always more fantastic than fiction. If for no other reason, read this book to follow Rogman as he does the impossible and escapes from a city in flames. What a story...

The last days of the German Army........2004-12-17

Unlike some of the other reviewers, I don't think this book was a great read. The stories are unique, no doubt. However bringing them together leads to a disjoint and is not smooth. One story talked about the Western Front, then the next dealt with the Eastern Front. There was even a story in there from a Russian soldier. I tried to interpret these stories into some theme, but the only thing I got was the disorganized nature of the German Army. The last story from a Waffen SS recruit bordered on unbelieveable, and some of the interpretation mention that some may not be true. Perhaps a book called Berlin Dance of Death is a better book on the subject, although it is written by only one soldier.
This is an OK read, but there are better books out there from German soldiers. The stories are alright, if the reader is familiar with the last battles of the Third Reich.

Seldom read History.......2003-02-16

This books explores the last and bitter days of fighting from the perspective of German soldiers. The book brings new insight into the last days of the once formidible German Army. It is good story given by the common soldiers who simply fight on for undisputed loyalty or simply because they are trapped an have no other choice but to fight or die.

To all those historians like myself, hearing the words from these veterans is simply priceless! This book, like many others I have read, depicts the futile struggle against the Allies from both fronts. With gripping accounts of street fighting and fire fights at point blank ranges, it will reach out to you and put you right in there shoes. These men were brave soldiers following orders to the last!

A land of incredible natural resources, the South American continent is rich in plant and animal species. Among birds alone, over 3,100 species are either resident or migrant. This really is a must for everyone who's seriously interested in South-American birds. The colour plates are up to Tudor's high standards. I even managed to identify some birds I saw 2 years ago. This surely was not due to the (poor) quality of my notes, but to the excellent quality of the plates.
The text is as clear as can be with good discription of the species, accompanied by clear distribution maps.
There are only two drawbacks:
- they did manage to illustrate "only" about 60% of the species (this cost them a star),
- we have to wait very long for the two remaining volumes.

The "South American`s Birders Bible"!.......1997-02-26

Even if you`re not a bird lover, you should find this book a very interesting one. The high quality of the descriptions and, of course, the plates, makes this book an essential tool for every one who wants to now more about these lovely animals. These two volumes may be the best bird guide ever made(at least for South American Passerines), and all I can say is that I can`t wait to see the next two volumes(Nonpasserines Land Birds and Aquatic Birds). The book describes even the Subspecies, and each description includes the bird`s behaviour. Don`t miss this one
