Book Description
Saint-Tropez: The name alone conjures up images of impossible glamour. The beaches of the Riviera will forever be a summertime playground for the rich, royal, and famous, and there are those who live year-round in Saint-Tropez, too. For residents, celebrities, artists, and travelers alike, this scenic destination in the South of France is a coastal haven where a refined yet relaxed style of living reigns supreme. Author Marie Bariller and photographer Thomas Dhellemmes capture the casual elegance of Saint-Tropez in this intimate view of 25 stunning interiors.
Rustic farms and vineyards, quaint oceanfront cottages belonging to local fishermen, majestic chateaux: All are a testament to Saint-Tropez's diverse architectural heritage. Among the featured maisons are centuries-old estates of unimaginable luxury, exclusive spas that serve as secluded refuges to jet-lagged jet-setters, and family vacation homes that have been passed down from one generation to the next. From the humble to the sumptuous, each house has its own distinct charm, and through more than 200 gorgeous color photographs, readers can practically experience these tranquil paradises firsthand. AUTHOR BIO: Former model and actress MARIE BARILLER is creative director of the Blanc Bleu brand in Paris and has recently developed a line of garden furniture.
THOMAS DhELLEMMES's photographs have appeared in the magazines L'Officiel, Jardins Passions, Marie-Claire, Saveurs, Journal de la Maison, and Mon Jardin Ma Maison, as well as in several interior design books.

Interiors of Saint Tropez.......2005-06-06
I was looking for a book that covers the architectural views of the houses of Saint Tropez. This book should be entitled the Interiors of Saint Tropez. Less than 10 exterior photos of any value. Beautiful photography of eclectic interiors of the French Med. variety.
Escape to the South of France.......2005-01-20
I just love looking through books like this with photos and descriptions of unique houses. This one profiles 23 vacation homes, cottages and mansions. Some are modern, others charm with their bohemian style or Moroccan style. Don't miss the sailboat that was owned at one time by Errol Flynn.
This book has beautiful homes with a special character that is Saint-Tropez plus lovely waterfront views, and bits of history to draw you into the spirit of the place.

Book Description
In her 55th bestselling novel, Danielle Steel explores the seasons of an extraordinary friendship, weaving the story of three couples, lifelong friends, for whom a month’s holiday in St. Tropez becomes a summer of change, revelation, secrets, surprises, and new beginnings . . .
As Diana Morrison laid the table for six at her elegant Central Park apartment, there was no warning of what was to come. Spending New Year’s Eve together was a sacred tradition for Diana, her husband of thirty-two years, Eric, and their best friends, Pascale and John Donnally and Anne and Robert Smith. The future looked rosy as the long-time friends sipped champagne and talked of renting a villa together in the South of France the following summer. But life had other plans . . .
Just two weeks after New Year’s, tragedy strikes the heart of their close circle, as Robert Smith suffers a sudden, unexpected loss. Without hesitation, Diana and Eric, Pascale and John rally to his side, united in their support, love, and shared grief. Convinced that a change of scenery is just what Robert needs, they urge him to join them on the Riviera in August. But as they soon discover, the ramshackle old mansion they rented in St. Tropez--sight unseen--is far different from the exquisite villa and sun-drenched gardens touted in the brochure. Cobwebs hang from the ceiling. Beds collapse beneath them. All while a would-be housekeeper in a leopard-skin bikini and six-inch heels sashays through the house with a trio of yapping poodles at her heels. But the biggest surprise of all is the woman Robert invites to the villa as his guest--a lovely, much-younger film actress with mile-long legs and a million-dollar smile. Diana and Pascale hate her on sight. But the men are dazzled. And amid the crumbling furniture and the glorious sunsets, the strained relationships and the acts of forgiveness, more surprises are in store for the villa’s occupants. With the last days of summer fast approaching, each couple finds themselves changing in unexpected ways, as old wounds are healed, new love discovered, and miracles unfold...all beneath the dazzling sun of St. Tropez.
By turns wise and moving, heartbreaking and wickedly funny, Danielle Steel’s new novel is about forgiving without forgetting, about the sorrow that shadows our lives and the hope that saves us. And it is about once-in-a-lifetime friendships . . .the kind that heal, sustain, and change us forever.

Intended order: Audio book.......2007-09-23
I may be mistaken but my order was for an Audio book with the same title.
Solid Story - Good Entertainment.......2007-07-25
I don't know what some of the people reviewing this book are hoping for here - Chaucer? Danielle Steel provides in this book a good storyline and some believable and very entertaining characters. I listened to the audiobook version (unabridged) and loved it. It is good entertainment while driving, and it's one I own and listen to over and over again. As far as light literature goes, Ms. Steel delivers.
Pleasurable punctual read.......2007-04-27
I agree that the book is rather truncated. It was definitely a delight to read though. Agathe is priceless!!!
Sad, but Funny.......2007-04-05
Get ready to be entertained by this sad, but funny story of 3 couples who set out to vacation in their dream house, only to find out it's not so dreamy after all.
AWESOME BOOK, SAD AND ENTERTAINING AT THE SAMETIME.......2007-02-02
This book is so amazing. It's funny and sad all at the sametime. Danielle Steel worte another amazing book. 3 couples(all best friends in their 60's) plan a great vacation on New Year's Eve in St. Tropez. The sadest part after all that planning the next day a great friend had died of a heartattack and died. So, after a year of her death the 5 friends set out to what they thought was a dream house which turned out to be an old brochure of what the house used to look like. HAHA.BAD. The house they thought was so perfect was a run-down house that hadn't been cleaned or lived in for a very long time!haha. But the funniest pasrt was the house "MAID" she dressed like she was still living in the 80's. After a month of staying in St. Tropez, Robert(the guy who's wife died) found out one of his friends was friends with famous actors and actresses. He then found his next fling. A stunning actress.
This book is heartbreaking and fascinating through the whole book. You will cry but its all worth it in

a must have for the floral painter.......2004-06-27
I love this book- Patricia Moran is an incredibly talented painter. The paintings are sumptuous and detailed, with lots of useful instruction. I also recommend Joyce Pike's books on floral painting along with this one, as the most useful ones I've found.
For those who want to paint, but cannot draw.......2001-04-18
Pat Moran takes a very painterly approach to her art. As she explains and illustrates, painting is about presenting to the viewer ranges of hues and contrasts. Our eyes and brain will make the picture if presented with the right information, it is not necessary to (or even preferable) to spell it out with a detailed drawing. Nevertheless, she also provides the standard proportions for the face or torso so the portrait you're doing will look "correct." I found this book helpful in developing the art of seeing and translating that onto the canvas. Her flower paintings are quite evocative, and provide an excellent model. Although not covered in this book, her approach will work with landscapes. In fact, the upside down exercise should convince you that if you get the tonal range, contrast, and proportions correct, the painting will emerge in the eye of the beholder.

Multiple ways of creating real estate wealth.......2004-07-16
In this great book by the great Wade Cook, real estate expert Wade Cook reveals 101 ways to buy real estate with no cash. Most of the other books that talk about "no money down" real estate investing give you 5-10 techniques. Wade Cook gives you 101!
Great book. Thanks Wade!
More real estate strategies from the millionaire maker.......2004-07-15
I heard a statistic once that Wade Cook was responsible for helping to create more real estate millionaires through his unique formula's than anyone else. Easy to see why. In 101 strategies, Wade offers 101 ways to buy real estate without cash or credit. The formula's work. I've used them.
You will also need Wade's flagship work Real Estate Money Machine along with Real Estate for Real People. I also recommend How To Pick Up Foreclosures.

Creative No Money Down R.E. Investing Techniques.......2004-07-14
What appealed to me about this new book by Wade Cook is that it offers 101 Creative no money down techniques to buy real estate and this it provides current up-to-date information.
Another thing that appealed to me is that it is WADE COOK's unique strategies and not somebodyelse's. So many of the other books out there just keep repeating the same things over and over. Cook is new and fresh.
A portfolio of techniques to buy real estate w/o cash.......2004-07-11
This book was very helpful to me when I first started becuase I didn't have either cash or credit. WADE offers a portfolio of 101 techniques to buy real estate with little or none of your own money.
Not 1, not 2, not 30 but 101 ways to buy real estate............2004-02-01
Yes--this great book by Wade Cook shows you 101 ways to buy real estate with little or none of your own money. This book is like the encyclopedia of No Money Down Real Estate Investing.
Unlike so many me too authors, Wade cut his teeth in real estate and made a fortune using the same techniques he teaches here. Wade is not a "paper tiger" or a "me too" author who only writes about a subject without having actually done the deals. His methods are unique and they work. Or perhaps I should say they were unique..Wade is probably the most imitated but never duplicated author/real estate guru out there. Wade should be very happy...are you familiar with the phrase: "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?" Then Wade should be very flattered!
This book is a must read and a must have in your real estate library.

Book Description
Put simply, children are challenging. For every first step or first word, there's a hit or a bite. For every belly laugh, there's a temper tantrum. It's hard enough for parents to deal with the challenging behavior issues that come with a child's natural development. Add in time spent in childcare, and these same issues can seemingly reach crisis mode.
In the first series of its kind for parents of children in childcare, Behavior Matters looks at the ways parents can work with their daycare provider to address the most common and perplexing behavior challenges in consistent and appropriate ways-from separation anxiety and toilet training to sharing and power struggles.
Written by an acclaimed early childhood teacher, consultant, and trainer, this essential guide helps parents work with childcare providers to:
⢠Understand the developmental stages of young children
⢠Identify the typical behaviors young children exhibit while going through these stages
⢠Develop positive strategies for meeting the challenges these behaviors present
Behavior Matters helps parents and providers work together to make their child's behavior issues a nonissue.
Deborah Hewitt is an early childhood teacher, consultant, and author of So This Is Normal Too?: Teachers and Parents Working Out Developmental Issues in Young Children. She lives in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

Customer Reviews:
Best Bang for the Buck.......2003-06-29
I am a person who has a lot of money wrapped up in Uniform print books. Napoleonic is my favorite era and I own most of the good works that have been published in the last 20 years. Some of these books can cost up to $500 new or when out of print as much as $700. Now we come to the Jouineau/Jean-Marie Mongin series. Wow, what great books for [item price]. For [item price] you get the uniforms of the Imperial Guard Calvary in color with lots of detail. One of the drawbacks (if you can call it that) is that they are computer generated images. This makes it inexpensive to produce numerous different unifoms. It does of course eliminate the uniqueness of a hand drawn print. But each book has dozens if not hundreds of images. Any person who has an interest in Napoleonic uniforms should gladly pick up this series. Well worth the money.

Book Description
This engaging chronicle of how the author and the great horned owl "Bubo" came to know one another over three summers spent in the Maine woods--and of how Bubo eventually grew into an independent hunter--is now available in an edition that has been abridged and revised so as to be more accessible to the general reader.
Customer Reviews:
Fascinating.......2005-06-16
This book details Bernd Heinrich's experiences with an abandoned owl that he chose to raise by hand. Heinrich is a well-known scientist who specializes in animal behavior. Because of his extensive scientific publications and experience with wild animals, he was granted the necessary permits to raise the baby owl that he found in the woods one day. The owl had fallen out of its nest and was buried in a snowbank. When Heinrich first pulled him out, the bird was in very poor condition, but with a bit of care, he was able to nurse him back to health. He was aware however, that in doing so, he would be responsible for meeting all of this infant bird's needs for months or even years to come. In this book, a journal of the owl Bubo's first three years, Heinrich details all that he learned through his association with Bubo.
Heinrich is a patient and gifted observer. He is also a scientist with a long list of questions about owl behavior. He is able to find answers to many of his questions simply by observation, but others require experiments. His experiments always involve authentic behaviors, such as mobbing or catching food, rather than artificially conceived tasks. Some of the experiments can be completed through focused observation, but one described in this book, involving whether mobbing behavior of predators is innate or learned, required the raising of additional birds, a pair of crows.
In this book, Heinrich provides much background material on owls, in addition to all of his observations. This is not just a reference book about owls, however, but also a model record of the vast amount of information that can be learned through the careful observation of just one animal. The book includes an extensive list of references and an index.
very enjoyable read.......2002-12-30
Heinrich has a way of writing that makes a person understand the relations between people and animals. He makes me laugh at some of the interactions. I very much enjoyed this book.
A WORD ON "OWLS".......2002-01-27
BERND HEINRICH IS ONE OF THE BEST AUTHORS IN THE LIFE SCIENCE FIELD. HIS WONDERFULY DISCRIPTIVE NARATIVES ARE REMINISSENT OF KONRAD LORENZ AND GERALD DURREL . ONE MAN'S OWL WILL EDUCATE YOU AND PULL YOUR HEART STRINGS. BUY THIS BOOK!!
Across the Divide.......2001-10-22
I like to think of Bernd Heinrich as a forest sleuth. Nothing delights him more than prowling, or jogging, through miles and miles of his favorite Maine woods identifying and describing such things as the songs of birds, the cocoons of caterpillars, the smells of beetles and the droppings of moose. In this case, his interests lead him to examine the contents of the stomachs of owls - in particular the stomachs of Great Horned Owls. Owls it seems, eat their prey whole, separate the digestable from the indigestable portions in their stomachs, and when all is said and done regurgitate the inedible stuff as "owl pellets." More than you ever wanted to know about owls? That's what I thought too at first, but it gets better - really.
Not long after discovering a nest of Great Horned Owls on his property, a storm destroys part of the nest and one of the chicks falls to the ground. Heinrich, who can never resist an opportunity to study wild things up close, scoops the little fellow up, christens him Bubo and takes him home to raise. What ensues is a delightful, often revealing account of how an owl and a man struggle to cross the divide between species.
That both are determined is obvious. Heinrich puts up with all sorts of destructive and rude behavior from his childish guest. Bubo chews up, eats and regurgitates washcloths, favorite t-shirts and socks. He holds staring matches with the family cat, terrorizes guests, whom he considers competitors for Heindrich's attention, and rearranges Heindrich's eating and sleeping schedule. In return, Heindrich gets to study everything about the owl - from his eyelids and feather patterns to the mechanical workings of the owl's talons and the meanings of his various hoots and hisses. It is an uneasy if affectionate relationship.
However Heinrich, who works as a university professor, must eventually return to his job and Bubo is sent to a wildlife rehabilitation center. There, all attempts at rehabilitation fail and Bubo is pronounced incorrigable. It is also clear that Bubo is miserable. Heinrich, who feels this is a waste of Bubo's life, eventuallly reclaims the bird, takes him back to Maine and spends another summer helping the bird find his adult wings.
This is a revealing and touching story that goes way beyond the scientific study that Heinrich originally planned. As Heinrich himself acknowledges it became a very personal thing, a relationship between one man and one owl. A wonderful read.
"Born Free", this ain't........2000-08-27
This journal of Bernd Heinrich's relationship with a rescued great horned owl named Bubo is engaging, eye-opening and intensely personal. It goes far beyond the usual tales of relationships between wild animals and humans, providing both a record of Heinrich's scientific observations of the interactions of owls and other bird species and an account of how deeply the relationship with the owl impacted the lives of Heinrich and his friends and family. After reading this book, you won't just have a better understanding of the life of owls and birds--you'll feel like you know Heinrich personally.
