The term Minimalism has not always been used in a favorable sense, especially in architecture, and even today it may be the cause of some confusion and ambiguity. The problem comes from the word's use in defining a creative current, school or trend when in fact it refers to an aesthetic. At the same time, this aesthetic is not chronologically well defined either and, moreover, interacts with different disciplines. This explains why we find minimalist buildings in periods very far apart from each other and in architects as different as Tadao Ando, Eduardo Souto de Moura, Jacques Herzog & Pierre de Meuron or Luis Barragán, among others. Minimalism DesignSource investigates the minimalism movement, covering the last years of the decade of the 1990s and the first years of the twenty-first century to inquires into the origins of the term minimalism and in how the minimalism phenomenon played out in other fields like art, painting, fashion, and sculpture has affected minimalism in architecture, define the result of the use of pure and simple lines, the reduction of language elements and, as far as architecture is concerned, the investigation of the treatment of space and of building possibilities.

This fabulous collction of virtually every one of the most vital contemporary artist is, simply put, a must. The talent and diversity of these works are astounding and envigorating. The title "Drawing" conjures up images of simple sketches, pencil works and other trite mediums of drawing. However, these works prove that drawing, the element of art that is the product of the artist's mind directly onto a surface, is fulfilled in every way. Works like "Detail from Cremaster 3" by Matthew Barney and other works by Ellsworth Kelly, Sol Lewitt, Anish Kapoor, Lari Pittman, Charles Ray and many others make this mini-volume a treasure worth investigating.

Uh, yeah........2003-04-18
Ok, it was a good plotline, for the most part, until the conclusion . compared to the reader above, however, i found the ending almost totally stupid.
i don't recommend buying this book; if you like the charachters, then stop after reading book 8. the drawing and plot go downhill from there. if you like nonsensical comedy and don't really care about the ending, then go ahead and read.
for those of you whose favorite charachter ISN'"T carrot, then i suggest stopping at book eight.
IMPORTANT - GOING TO REVEAL THE END OF THE BOOK AFTER THIS - DON"T READ IF YOU DON"T WANT TO KNOW!!
basically, here goes. naked people, spirits of the four pillars released to battle carrot. halfway through killing the god of destruction, tira/mother of west apros gets cold feet, makes some sorta sacrifice, and they all end up ok. tira marries carrot, although for some reason chocolate still tries to sleep with carrot (didn't really get that, but ok - ) and marron ends up as a servant in his brother's insanely rich-person mansion.
totally unsatisfying, but that's just me. if you like the above solution, all the more power to ya - get your hands on the entire series. personally, i found the ending lacking.
Farewell, Sorcerer Hunters.......2003-01-17
Picking up from #12, #13 is the final Sorcerer Hunters volume...and it is fantastic! I even shed a tear or two for the characters and the ending. I really, really don't want to spoil anything, so here it goes...
Marron and Gateau manage to win their fights, determined to save Carrot and the others fight their battles too. Some die, some live. Finally, Carrot is turned into the God of Destruction by Charolette and goes on a killing rampage. (Notice the very familar faces throughout the whole book! Apricot, who manages to out-do Chocolat's nakedness time by being naked...well...almost the whole book releases the gods inside the Sorcerer Hunters' body and they fight Carrot! But, one of them makes a sacrifice.......
Will the sacrifice be taken back? Who does Carrot marry? ...And why is Marron weeping and murmurming "Brother..." (And why does he look so good in a work outfit. And will Carrot actually get some? Find out in this funny/touching/romantic volume!
The epilouge is absolutely hilarious! But be warned: do NOT show this book to the wee ones at home...or bring it to school if you're a girl...take it from me...
Some mangas end pretty badly or just don't end. SOrcerer Hunters manages to give a very satisfying and hilarious ending...

Is this the best there is?.......2002-05-13
There isn't another supplement available, so I guess you can only be so critical of this book.
The reader must be aware that the book is very out of date and in some instances is just flat wrong.
The book is replete with errors. For example, Connecticut municipalities revalue real property for local tax purposes every four years according to a speccific schedule. The book says every 12 years and fails to mention the schedule.
The Landlord-Tenant section has so many Summary process eviction error that I don't know where to start. For example, every single one of the time constraints in respect to a Notice to Quit is wrong.
The list goes on.
I give this book a qualified recommendation because there is no other Connecticut Supplement out there.
I'll have to write my own.

This book is one of those rare finds. A highly readable and insightful book about a too common psychological issue: self sabotage. The author's brilliant insights and accessible examples reflect a deep understanding of the dynamics of self sabotage and explain why so many of us do ourselves more harm than good. Procrastination, destructive relationships, job failure, inability to advocate for ourselves, these are all examples of what Dr. Brandt calls everyday masochism. He offers wise and brilliant advice for chaning these destructive patterns

Birds of Washington is not a field guide for identifying birds. Seasonal distribution maps are included for many selected species. Introductory chapters describe bird habitats of Washington and changes in status and distribution since the publication of the landmark 1953 book Birds of Washington State. Is this a field guide?.......2005-12-06
No, it's not and it's not supposed to be. It's a desk reference. It gives status and distribution details for the 483 species documented in Washington. Extensive data on occurrence including noteworthy records are provided for all species. Most accounts also include phenology bar graphs (sometimes broken down regionally) and a distribution map. Distribution maps show breeding, and non-breeding ranges. Some accounts also include brief habitat descriptions and additional remarks on identification, ecology and historical changes in status.
Ahead of the species accounts are several sections detailing how the book is laid out, discussions on habitat, avian conservation and "the evolution of field ornithology in Washington".
There is no doubt that wildlife specialists will find this reference useful for quick and authoritative information on what species occur and where. It is unfortunately rather skimpy on the kind ecological details that connect bird species firmly to niches within habitats. The habitat details that are provided are inconsistently applied and usually limited to generalized ecotypes and brief descriptions of nest sites. Those charged with making resource management decisions that depend on more detailed information regarding ecological requirements will be obliged to look elsewhere. Obviously, content choices were made to keep the size and cost of the book within reason, but I would have preferred less discussion on how firm the status of the species is county by county and more discussion on what attracts a bird to a habitat and how it interacts with its environment. County status is a geopolitical constraint that has almost nothing to do with bird distribution.
Avocational naturewatchers may find the county by county detail of the range maps and phenology bar graphs useful, but the minutia on occurrences will probably not be of much use to birders.
