This book is really helpful if you buy it when you start taking your engineering courses because most of the professors look at this book while picking up exam questions. Lets not forget its also a good review for FE.
If you buy this book when you are junior or upper sophomore and start using it as reference it wont be new book to you when you start reviewing it for FE.

Make sure you get this book about 3 months before you are scheduled to take the FE exam, otherwise it won't be very helpful. All the questions follow the brief lectures and are organized by chapter, so it doesn't really give you the opportunity to practice in a style similar to the actual exam. I would first reccommend the sample question booklet availabe from NCEES, but if you feel you really need alot of prep, this is the way to go

Not a good book.......2006-11-10
I purchased this book in addition to the FE Review Manual by Lindeburg. I took the FE exam 2 weeks ago and the content in the Electrical PM book was nothing like that on the exam, in fact, the examples were much more difficult than the actual exam problems.
I would go with the PM Electrical book by the same publishers as the Lindeburg book, PPI. This book from REA was not helpful.
Update & Extend Please.......2005-06-06
I bought a new copy of this book for the April '04 FE exam. First off, the newest copywrite is 2000. This book has very few spelling or grammatical mistakes. Chapters are very short and don't go deep enough into each subject and don't provide enough examples. Each topic is covered in only a few pages, so don't look here for in depth coverage. I found the exam drastically different from this review guide. The exam has changed alot since 2000 and this book should be updated to reflect that fact. There are lots of questions on the exam dealing with digital systems and signal processing that aren't even mentioned here. The two practice exams were way off from the test itself. You'll notice the author has tons of questions on the practice tests about computers, their memory, etc, yet hardly any of that was on the test. I recommend that if you are still in school and have recently had courses in communications, digital systems and signal processing, consider taking the EE part of the afternoon exam. I've been out of school for a year now and really should have taken the general version of the afternoon exam. I barely passed with a 77 (70 being the minimum to pass) only because of the great general exam review guides by M. Lindeburg and M. Potter. [...]

This has got to be the worst review manual ever. The solved problems are difficult to follow because there is little to no detail. If you need to review IE topics, you're better off just getting the practice tests from NCEES.

This book was very hard to follow. What really stinks is that the formulas aren't the same as the ones in the required reference book that you are allowed to use in the exam.

If you were looking for a quick reference to refresh the concepts they list on the table of contents, this is not the a good source...
Most of the topics are barely covered and the number of examples and practice problems per topic is very limited (4 to 5 p/ chapter). Definetely, Kaplan could have done a much better job.

Not What I Expected.......2002-06-27
Since I ordered this book through Focus on the Family, I was really expecting something with some substance & in keeping with my moral & spiritual values. So I was very surprised with the light, fluffy, over-simplified approach to this very difficult topic. It might be helpful for military spouses or others faced with temporary separation, if they already have a good relationship with their children. But it fell short of offering any real insights on rebuilding and sustaining a relationship in more difficult circumstances such as divorce, etc. I was especially disappointed with the emphasis on pop culture "things" like movies, music, sports (encouraging betting on teams, etc.) instead of heritage & values that parents can impart to their kids.

The best overall history on the Corsair. (trust me I have almost all of them, and this one twice)
A little light on technical info, but for that you really should own Americas Hundred Thousand, by Francis H. Dean.
Easy read as well, not overly dry.

The nice thing for me about this book is that I got the feeling that it took me back in time and let me experience wat it was like -or at least what I thought it would be like-. There are enough photographs to prevent you from drowning in text and evere aspect of the plane gets covered, with the exception of what it was to maintain a Corsair airworthy for its groundcrews.

Born in 1943, I spent my youth building balsa Corsairs (and Mustangs, Hellcats, Warhawks, Spitfires and Hurricanes) covered with silkspan, and reading of their exploits in WWII and Korea. There must be millions of us Fifty- and Sixty-somethings in America still feeling we were born too late to have a chance to fly the great fighters of WWII. For us, Tillman is a timely author. We buy and read his well-told histories with feelings of respect for the designers, builders, test pilots, pilots and crews who made that great age of the piston-powered warbirds possible.
Avoiding the dreary repetitiveness of some such books, which seem bound to chronicle every squadron's every mission, Tillman's Corsair is an exceptionally good example of its breed. It combines valuable historical detail with first-hand accounts of the plane and its pilots in action.

This offering by Barrett Tilllman is one of the more readable accounts of WWII naval aviation. Tillman goes into enough depth to give the reader an appreciation for the technology and engineering involved in the F4U Corsair, but rightly devotes most of the book to the stories of the aviators who flew the "Ensign Eliminator" in combat. Anecdotes related to the author by veteran Corsair drivers, added to Tillman's own knowledge and experience in flying WWII aircraft lend authenticity to the work. Very well researched, this book is a valuable resource for the student of WWII or aviation,but its style also recomends it to the casual reader.

Although the program is good the copy protection that makes you have the CD in the drive to run the program is not 21st century. I have a mini laptop with an external CD that I usually don't have hooked up. To use the program I need to hook up the external drive. To me this CD is totally USLESS
Outdated and not for new Macs.......2005-04-12
This looks to be the only bird guide software available in the Macintosh format. Sadly, it's an old program, and requires you to run in Classic environment. On my G4 (OS 10.1.5), the program was slow and pixelly, and while it wasn't quite what I was hoping for, I was happily on my way to creating a Life List when -- all of a sudden -- my mouse disappeared. I haven't been able to see my mouse when using the program since then, so back it goes. Quite a disappointment.
I didn't get very far before my mouse disappeared, but I didn't see obvious ways to create audio or visual tests for yourself, which is what I was really hoping for. On the positive side, the sound cues are really long and detailed.
Useful product will work with Windows XP.......2005-03-20
When my XP machine wouldn't adjust to the required 256 colors, I almost gave up on this program. But Windows XP has a means of running legacy programs. After installing the program, start Windows Explorer and navigate to the directory where the program is located (C:\Audubon by default) and right-click on the file birds.exe. Go to "Properties" and then click the "Program Compatibility" tab and check the box for 256 colors. Click "apply" and then close out of Explorer. The program should run properly, but if not you could try other compatibility options, such as checking the box for Win 95 compatibility and/or 640x480.
Wonderful item, but.......2004-04-30
I really loved this software and used it often, but my version requires that you set your display to 256 color and this will not work with my new current monitor. I have a new NEC/Mitsubishi flat screen monitor and I just learned the hard way that resetting your display to the requirements for the CD-rom will cause you some minor (but fixable) problems if you have a flat screen monitor. Now I am looking for a newer version that will work with WIN '98 and that does not require resetting display properties.

I read the comment about the CD not working with modern computers' video cards. I have a Dell purchased 9 months ago running Windows XP Pro and everything works fine. I'm using a 21" monitor at 1280x1024 resolution, 85Hz refresh rate and true color.
So far after a week of using the CD I'd say it's an adequate product. Nothing spectacular, but it works for what I'm trying to do, which is to identify birds after I've taken pictures of them (see http://www.pbase.com/gordeaux/birds). I don't need a field guide to take into the field.
The database related features are easier to use than cross references in a paper book, as I hoped.
