Rather than tricks or gimmicks, this painter has taught himself to see shapes of color, juxtaposed. His bold division of space and handling of textures and edges are wonderful. His paintings evoke a sense of place, atmosphere and wonder at the "natural" world. These watercolors go beyond the ordinary.

From the air, the lanscapr is different. What is a great thing have another scale. What we can not see, because is so great or we dont have a point of view, is now possible to see... With few years of work we can see the work of thousands of years, thousands of persons in different lands, in so good black and white prints.

The obvious works.......2006-11-27
I recently read a book called, "Retail Selling Ain't Brain Surgery, It's Twice As Hard - 9 Steps to successful sales relationships", by James E. Dion. As the title suggests, it is mostly about retailing. He has nine steps that every retailer should use to treat their customers well. As an occasional retail customer, I know that retail selling etiquette is sadly lacking and I think most retailers could benefit from reading this very simple and quick reading book.
His nine steps are:
The greeting
Needs determination
Product knowledge
Suggestion selling
Trading up
Answering objections
The close
Maximizing last moments
After sales service
Best read the book for full details.
This is a great read for any retailer.
Too Basic.......2006-06-22
This book was much too basic and didn't provide me with any information that I didn't already know, nor where there any real ideas or steps suggested by the author on how to be an outstanding sales professional. This book is just simply made up of "common sense" knowledge.

This book might be helpful to someone who is just getting started in the retail industry, but for a seasoned sales professional it was too basic. It is written more like a textbook, so maybe it was meant for a beginner, but I was hoping for more "meat" when I bought it.

What a remarkable book Vicki Noble has written about having a Down Syndrome child. Although she is little heavy on the "spiritual" level, anyone who has or knows a child with DS will embrace Aaron Eagle, the true star of this show! I'm glad this was the first book I came apon when learning my niece had DS. A nice, easy read, but leaves plenty of room for reflection on how "different-ly abled" persons are treated in our world today.

Both high school and college-level history collections as well as specialty libraries will consider the four- volume set AMERICANS AT WAR: SOCIETY, CULTURE, AND THE HOMEFRONT to be an essential acquisition: each volume packs in an A-Z encyclopedic reference with sidebars of information and plenty of bibliographic references for further reading. From the battle histories of historical monuments such as Bunker Hill to the history and symbolism of various flags, occupation patterns during the Civil War and their lasting effects, medicine during World War I, and sports during World War II, each volume in the series tackles major social and cultural developments of different wartime experiences, reaching deep into the heart of war's effects at home. Highly recommended.

A book on Civil War generals that doesn't include Pat Cleburne? John Bell Hood (b.1831-d.1879) said in the book to have died "four years" after the war? An "encyclopedia" on individuals that frequently ommits places and dates of births and deaths? The Civil War Society, author of this book, should be embarrased.

Any birder is familiar with the format that even the best guides use to convey the likelihood over time of finding a given species in a particular location. Because of the scope of those guides, they are limited to conveying the timing to seasons and the locations to regions.
This book tells the reader exactly when specific bird species are generally found in specific counties of the state. A field guide will tell you that a certain bird migrates through the state in the spring, but some birds migrate in March, and some in June. This book will also tell you how populous the bird is (ie. how rare it is). You can also see the general movements of resident birds in the state over seasons.
I live in Wisconsin, so I use this book all the time. I have been frustrated trying to find similar information for states that I visit regularly. It is an invaluable resource for concentrating observation and understanding the animals being studied.
An outstanding companion to a Peterson field guide.......1999-03-25
This book is an ideal companion to a field guide to Eastern birds. Primarily designed as a reference guide (it contains no pictures, descriptions, or field marks) it contains a wealth of information on the likelihood of finding a particular species by county and time of year in Wisconsin. Based on at least 15 years of birding reports, the book is organized in standard order of species with one bird species per page. Each page contains the probability of spotting the species somewhere in the state in a given year, a map of the frequency of reports by county, a chart of the reporting frequency by week for the year, and a trend line by year of the total relative number of reports. I would recommend the guide primarily to the intermediate or advanced birder who is knowledgable about each bird species and their likely habitats already, but needs to know what is likely to be found in a given part of the state.
IMHO, this book is a template of how every state or regional guide should be designed.
