The Far Eastern International Digital Design Award (FEIDAD) was conferred for the first time in 2000, its aim being to encourage and honour innovative design created with the aid of digital media. In 2004, the jury which comprised Jacob van Rijs (MVRDV), William Mitchell (MIT), Gerhard Schmitt (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology), Nobuyuki Yoshida, (A+U), Birger Sevaldson (Ocean North), Makoto Watanabe and other distinguished architects, awarded the prize for the fourth time.
This book presents the 50 best projects by architects, students and designers from 29 different countries. They explore digital concepts such as computing, information, electronic media, hyper, virtual, and cyberspace, helping to define and discuss future space and architecture in the digital age.
As a special treat in this edition, like Tadao Ando, Zaha Hadid, Diller+Scofidio, Greg Lynn, Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos (UN Studio) and Birger Sewaldson were invited to submit projects.

Not just stuff to look at.......2007-03-07
I like this book, it is small and easy to carry around. Each artist shows how they come up with these creative portraits. They show how they take images from several photos to create one unique work of their own. They show up close detail, so you can see how that particular technique looks up close. They give you a list of the colors they are using for the portrait in detail. For example, a list of colors used for the eyes, skin, hair, etc. I like looking at the final works, they are inspiring, especially Vera's. She did a piece based on her overcoming breast cancer. It's amazing.

Forming: The Early Days of L.A. Punk brings to life the unprecedented musical and artistic dynamo that was the Los Angeles punk scene from 1978 to 1982. Fueled by ambivalence to the prevailing cultural climate, musicians, artists, writers, photographers, and a diverse audience joined together to produce a flourishing punk community. This book includes numerous images by photographers on the scene as well as reproductions of flyers, magazines, 45s, albums, posters, and other ephemera. Documenting the edgy angst of the local performance art scene are photographs of Johanna Went, the Kipper Kids, and a legendary 1978 performance by Viennese Actionist Herman Nitsch. Also included are texts by Slash magazine editor Claude Bessy; a conversation with Exene Cervenka and John Doe of the band X; and a timeline that juxtaposes the highlights of punk with the low points of popular culture and news-of-the-day. Great Document of the LA punk Glory Days! Great Pictures, Anecdotes and Attitude about this Scene of the true spirit Rock'n'Roll. Only Four Stars, because it leaves you Hungry for More. It was originally a book to accompany a Gallery show of the Scene. The Bands and characters are all here. X, Screamers, The Germs, etc. I actually have yet to find a book about LA punk that I haven't loved. Keep 'em coming!

A collection of essays, photos, album covers, and assorted flotsam; Forming doesn't know what it wants to be. For every insightful look at the state of performance art at the dawn of the Punk Rock scene in Los Angeles, there's a glamour shot of Exene Cervenska. The apparent Queen of Punk Rock, Cervenska dominates the book in content. When other writers aren't tossing about her name, pictures of her dominate the page. Meanwhile, she and John Doe basically interview themselves for the fifth and final essay of the book.
For those who are unimpressed with X and all things Cervenska, there are still a few fun facts to know and tell provided in this book. However, Forming is not the documentation of this crucial musical/cultural "scene" that it pretends to be. (ISBN: 1889195448)

One of my personal favorite punk books. There are great photos of the Screamers, Go-go's, Germs, Weirdos, and X, just to name a few. The old flyers will make you wish you were at those legendary shows. The time line of L.A. punk facts is very informative. This single book is more important to any punk book collection than all the hundreds of Sex Pistols' books combined. A definate must.
The Best Book Regarding the Los Angeles Punk Scene.......1999-08-20
Finally a book about the early Los Angeles Punk scene that is intelligent,inspiring and also in color! From the photos to the text, this book is a definite must. It feels like a time capsule (and it even includes a timeline) and a piece of art. The photos are beautiful and there are a lot that i have not ever seen before. The best part i feel is the informal conversation between John Doe and Exene Cervenka from the band X, at the end of the book. This book is a must.

Absolute Must Read.......2007-03-28
This book is incredible and I have given a copy to my son's principal. We had already incorporated a lot of her suggestions based on appointments with our Environmental Physician. Her book was instrumental in helping me replace cleaners in my son's classroom. Also, her other book, Our Toxic World is worth reading as well. We have seen some wonderful changes for the entire family by changing cleaners, eliminating pesticides, and identifying triggers for us. This should be required reading material for school administrators.

Dr. Rapp hits another home run with this work. If you have school age children who have experienced behavioral problems at school, then you want to read this book.
This book also gives the reader suggestions on things that can be changed at home, with diet and nutrition to improve your child's well being.
Don't be surprised if school officials try to discredit this work. After all, "traditional thinking", while outdated, has prevailed for years. We gave a copy of the book to the school principle, who promised to read it. The other "experts" simply pushed the book away and changed the topic.
We have shared this information with others, and have a "loaner copy" that we are sharing with other parents in our school system.

This is a great book that details how environmental hazards along with food allergies affect children. It analyzes schools and homes to inform people of the chemicals, paint, carpeting, spices, etc. cause symptoms of Learning Disabilities or behavior problems. The chapters in this book are broken down specifically to help you target your concerns. I loved the pictoral and writing samples given in this book. As a special educator, I found this book extremely helpful in my school building and with my own family. I recommend this to anyone with concerns about their children or students.

Great Insight To the true story behind the mission.......2006-06-01
Great Book, he tells the reads about the mission, but also the struggle to publish the book that the us goverment tryied to ban and his struggle to fight through the courts. also he talks about is life before the mission in millarty life and as a child. I KNOW MIKE COLBURN PERSONALLY and hearing his story, brings a new light into what the man in the Bravo two zero mission went through.

Mark Coburns account of what happened on that fateful mission is not such a bad story on its own, but if you have read the other books and are familiar with the basic story then you will find it tedious and not as "revealing" as it claims to be. He basically tells the story from his point of view and apart from a few interesting contrasts with McNabs and Ryans books, it doesnt really give the reader more insight into what really happened. It could however be that the actual events were not really as dramatic and "awe-inspiring" as the other members of the patrol made it out to be. We will never know. Either way, more little details about the mission are told and if you are super-interested in the saga then read it. Having said that, i reconmend reading the other books to familiarise yourself because Coburn sometimes assumes the reader has read the other books.

The book's main focus, though is on birding tours--75 of them. Meticulously described and thoroughly "road-tested," these tours lead down paved highways, dirt roads, and paths, past old cemeteries, around lakes, along creeks, into cities, and out onto the prairie, winding through the birding hotspots of Kansas and western Missouri.
With this new guide in hand, birders can tailor their expeditions to focus on the big picture, taking advantage of all the birding possibilities a particular location has to offer, or the small picture, searching out one or two especially challenging species.
