Buyer BEWARE!!!! Buy it used!.......2005-02-23

This was originally a fabulous 4-color printed book, but, it has been reprinted with very poor quality black & white photocopy looking pages. I contacted the "publisher" who basically said tough luck, this is business, and this is how we make our money. Buy it used!!! Because as you may have figured out, an art education book with low quality black and white examples is worth it's weight in beans!

40 Year Friendship.......2002-03-19

I bought this book almost 40 years ago. I was surprised and pleased to see that it is still "thee" book. Everytime I get stuck for help, I go to this book. Now I am planning courses to teach pre-school teachers in Japan. "Thee" book is open once more. Any chance it is available in Japanese? Thanks Lowenfeld and Brittain!!!

Meeting with the Titians.......2001-03-11

As I finish my final weeks as an art education major, I have tried to complete a reference guide for some of my friends that I will be leaving behind in my department. Other than books by Dr. George Szekely, Viktor Lowenfeld's book "Creative and Mental Growth" stands as the 'bible' for the educator, period. Art isn't "frill" or "elective classes" to children, it is the way of life. Without the understanding of how children view their world and how it does bend toward creative expression, a teacher is simply stumbling around in the darkness. In this stumbling a teacher may find a light switch from time to time. However, join the rest of us with the "torch" of post-modern education with Mr. Lowenfeld's book.

an essential text for all art teachers.......2000-12-03

This was one of the few required texts in my art ed classes that I did not sell back at the end of the term, and the only text which i still refer to 10 years after graduation. It contains valueable information for any educator who wants to ensure the creative growth of their students. It also includes a wonderful chart of children's artistic development. I've highly recomended it to every student teacher I have trained.

Avoid this book like the plague!.......2007-01-30

I am currently taking a class that uses this textbook and I am ready to throw this thing into a woodchipper.

It might be okay if each chapter wasn't constantly being interrupted by the case files, but, no, the readability of this book is completely shot because multi-page case files cut right into a chapter section, making it nearly impossible to keep track of what section I'm reading. I hate, hate, HATE this book because of those case files. The case files should have been put at the end of the chapter material!!!

Oh, and a little color would be nice. A book couldn't be more boring than this one.

Its one redeeming value is that it will save you a fortune in prescription sleep aids. Start reading it and you'll be asleep before your head hits the desk.

This is the best book I've ever read about international business law. It is a very good guide to all issues concerning international law since the choice of a applicable law for a contract passing through contract contents, labor and taxes international legislation, ethics and finishing with the very new cyber law. This is a book to be read for specialists in both international law and international business, but also for practitioners of international trade. We have adodpted this book in our course of International Business Law at Universidad del Istmo in Guatemala. The best book I have consulted in the field.

Getting Better All the Time.......2005-09-06

This booklet is an excellent tool for anybody who has cared for children with autism. It addresses the issues of behavior problems, e.g. meltdowns, routines, sleep and toileting issues and outlines behaviors that are often exhibited by children with autism.

Neurotypical (NT) and people on the autism/Asperger's (a/A) spectrum alike will get a lot out of this book. The clear, direct style of writing will certainly be appreciated by all readers. It's just a good old common sense guide.

To make a good thing even better, this booklet includes a list of helpful resources. Soothing activities to ward off or help a child coming off of overload are given, such as a deep pressure massage and some soothing tapes. George Harrison is ideal for musical relaxation.

This book makes me think of the 1967 Beatle classic, "Getting Better All the Time." To this author's credit, no promises are made, but helpful approaches are suggested.

It can get better.......2002-10-06

A practical booklet for parents/carers, dealing with some of the difficult behavioural problems in young, autistic children all long suffering adults should be familiar with. The format, layout and illustrations are good and provide the reader with easy access to the topics which may be of particular interest to them. Temper tantrum, sleep problems and toileting are among these and will strike a chord with all carers.

Written in plain English by people who have obviously experienced life with autistic children, this booklet gives sensible, no nonsense suggestions and possible solutions to problems. I was particularly impressed by the fact that information was included about who to contact for further help, if this was required and also the inclusion of an item about looking after yourself. This is not as selfish as it may sound as the suggestions included activities for both adult and child to enjoy together, such as massage and relaxing to music tapes.

The booklet is clear and concise and the practical methods recommended are definitely worth trying, while no guarantees are given. What one should remember is 'It can get better'.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from Mr. Pushies. I too read both of his previous books and highly anticipated this release. I think he did a good job putting together a large scope of the weapons and equipment used by such a secretive group. If you read his preface, you'll see where he states he probably didn't get everything they use. I don't think anyone could.

While the HK's may no longer be the preferred weapon of choice, they are still part of the Delta arsenal and have their use. Devoting an entire section to something that was so beneficial to Delta's previous success makes sense to me. Besides, who wouldn't want an MP5?

What a let down..........2002-06-25

After reading the first two books by Fred Pushies (U.S. Army Special Forces and U.S. Air Force Special Operations), I had high expectations for this title. I could not have been more disappointed. It appears he had no official backing for this title (which is to be expected, it is Delta after all) and the result feels very slapped together in order to cash in on the war on terror.

He offers a good profile of the M4 SOPMOD weapon system and a brief, but good profile of communications systems. The rest of the book is just info he apparently lifted from websites or other books. It could have been a handy reference title but very few specifications are included so you basically get a photo with a few lines of text per weapon or piece of hardware. And a lot of that text is incorrect or typos. However, the most unforgiveable transgresion is spending only three paragraphs discussing Delta's handguns when they are the weapon trained with and carried most often.

Skip this title and buy CSM Haney's "Inside Delta Force" instead.

Not Just DELTA!.......2002-06-15

Not Just DELTA!

This book is a very good reference on some of the newer weapons and equipment in service in the US military (NOT necessarily the newest stuff!). The book states that it did not use any pictures of actual Delta Operators but other Special Forces operators for all the photos. As for the equipment its mostly main stream gear used by SOF, which has also filtered down to the conventional military; like the M4 Sopmod kits and all the components, off the shelf tactical gear from company's like Blackhawk, and the dinosaur PSN-11 (real cutting edge!!). The book is an excellent crash course on the stuff being employed by US troops in Afghanistan, but just do not let the title fool you, you will not find no secret delta patents here or uncover any national secrets.

Few weapons, little Delta.......2002-06-13

Outside of a history and background chapter at the beginning, Delta is completely absent from this work. Weapons entries are poorly organized, lacking in details, and have little to do with what Delta is using. Pistols are especially poorly covered. Most of the weapons information would be more appropriate to USSOCOM or even conventional units. No clue why a whole section is devoted to HK weapons that are little or not at all used by US forces. Equipment section is also lacking in detail and more appropriate to USSOCOM than Delta. Support section was added to fill space and covers Army and AF aviation, etc.

As a general USSOCOM reference this book might rate a second star, but I would still recommend giving it a pass and looking elsewhere.

Real Airplanes!.......2006-11-05

To remember the Century series you have to be "of a certain age". I'm getting there. I had this book when it was first published and it still has appeal. The author has made a good balance between pictures, text and color plates; all showing the advance designs of aviation and all the colorful heraldtry of the time. This is a book well worth having in an aviation library.

Only book like it.......2001-08-07

The century series of fighter aircraft is unique. They were developed at a time when the air force was transitioning from sub-sonic to supersonice aircraft. Hence, these aircraft looked like nothing that had come before, and were as exotic as the YF-22 or stealth bomber are today. Even today they represent, in my mind, some of the most beautiful and sleek aircraft ever built. This is the only book I have ever found devoted exclusively to these aircraft. The pictures are beautiful, and the text isn't dumbed down to make it appealing to people who just want to look at the pictures. Each of the aircraft gets its own chapter, and is covered fairly in depth. If you build aircraft models, or an amateur air force historian, this is definitely a must have.
