Lost Interiors in Black and White.......2002-08-11
The book is an exquisite capsule of magnificent interiors of London buildings, most of which have been destroyed or dismantled. As a reference book it is invaluable but there are also ideas that can be adapted by anyone who wants to learn more about classical proportions. My only regret is not to have been able to have seen these interiors in color. M. Boyd
A must for any person interested in great architecture........2002-03-25
It's hard to believe that we, as a people, once created the kind of interiors that are so splendidly recalled by this book. It's even harder to believe that so many of the interiors presented have been demolished. Will architects and artisans and craftspeople ever again create such impressive works? The answer, likely, is no. As such, should we not, absolutely, save all such remaining treasures? This book makes an excellent case for this argument, with its beautiful images, beautifully printed. The text is crisp, and the author nicely opinioned. All this volume lacks is a map showing the houses and neighborhoods discussed (helpful to us non-Londoners).

Book Description
This is the first study to offer a detailed explanation of the form, structure, and evolution of the manorial records upon which all historical studies of medieval England are based. Beginning with a discussion of the nature and variety of the manor, as well as its origins and developments, the book then proceeds to dissect each category of manorial documents --surveys, extents, rentals, inventories, accounts, and court rolls-- which are considered in turn, and exemplified.

Must Read Book for Women Diagnosed with Breast Cancer.......2007-01-11
The diagnosis of Brest Cancer usually comes unexpected and is emotionally overwhelming. Decisions that will have a lifelong impact often need to be made within a short period of time. The authors explain in detail all the different screening options, the various treatment options at all stages of the desease, and, most important, surgical reconstructive procedures performed either in conjuntion with a mastectomy/lumptectomy or at a later time. Diagrams, drawings, and "before and after" pictures help to visualize the results of reconstructive surgery.
A Woman's Decision.......2005-09-11
I did not particularly care for this book - too broad and not easy to read - too general.
Like talking to 17 Friends Who've Been There.......2002-10-08
I had a bilateral mastectomy with tram flap reconstruction in May 2002. The decisions I had to make were agonizing. This book was the best I found on the subject, and I read and re-read the case histories that were closest to my own situation. The information proved to be accurate and gave me a realistic expectation of the process and the results. I recommend this book to anyone undergoing breast surgery, with or without reconstruction, as it covers a wide array of decisions that other women have made.
A Woman's Decision.......2000-03-03
My plastic surgeon gave me this book to read. It was the best book on breast cancer I've found, and I've built up quite a library lately. It aided me in my treatment decision as well as my reconstruction choice. It also explained my pathology report better than any of my doctors. A great book for any breast cancer patient or her family.
One of a Kind.......1999-11-27
There are many, many books out there dealing with breast cancer and treatment but this was the only one I could find that really helps a woman decide what course to take if she thinks she wants to have reconstructive surgery. I found it so helpful I recommended it to my doctor.Making a decision to have reconstructive surgery is hard enough, but then you have to decide what type you would like to have, what your choices are depending on your type of cancer and treatment, and, when to have the surgery.Especially helpful are the black and white photos of the results of each type of operation as well as touching and honest real life descriptions of experiences by women who have had these types of surgeries.Having actually gone through a mastectomy with simultaneous "tram flap" reconstuction, I can attest to the accuracy of both the medical information and the emotional descriptions contained in the book.

Help for the hard choices - breast cancer reconstruction........1998-08-12
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I had many questions about reconstruction. My surgeons gave me the alternatives and left the decision to me. I needed help. Help came from the women who stepped forward to "show" the results of their reconstruction decisions and from this book with its frank and openly presented pictures, personal stories and explanations. Thank you to the authors! I found that even though I am "more than my breasts", I appreciated being presented with all the sides/choices in the reconstruction question. Information is so empowering! I have given at least a dozen of these books to friends and acquaintances with breast cancer and one major, major hospital here in town regularly gives "A Woman's Decision" to their breast cancer patients. That is how I heard about it. My friend received it from her surgeon at her hospital! I am online now because I am about to give away my last copy and need to order a few more to have on hand....... unfortunately. Will it never end!
Book Description
Betts, Richard, Conflict After the Cold War, 2nd Edition*\ Assembled by one of the most renowned scholars in the field, this collection aims to help readers sort out the main debates concerning the possibility and place of war in the post-Cold War world. The essay in this collection outline contrasting arguments about the future of the post-Cold War world and puts them in philosophical and historical context. Professor Betts has framed the readings in a topically organized and ideologically balanced survey of the most relevant schools of thought, examining the arguments about what political, economic, social and military factors tend to cause war and whether such causes can be made obsolete.
For those interested in the Cold War.
Book Description
Edited by one of the most renowned scholars in the field, Richard Betts’ Conflict After the Cold War assembles classic and contemporary readings that argue about the shape of international conflict in this post-Cold War and post-9/11 era. Contextualized within a broader philosophical and historical context, the carefully chosen and excerpted selections in this popular reader introduce students to the core debates about the causes and the future of war and peace. Through the precision of its approach and attention to new issues, this reader challenges conventional wisdom and encourages more critical examination of the political, economic, social, and military factors that underlie political violence.

Each state entry closes with a list of additional key places complete with specific contact information. Finally, a comprehensive index cross-references each bird with every site where it can be found.
A veritable pocket atlas of avian information, this guide will be equally useful to the novice just starting a lifelist and the advanced birder in search of an especially elusive species or a new and unique place to enjoy this enormously popular activity.
