There's not much more to say. Beevis and Butthead, the Cheech and Chong of the 90's. Although the comics can't do the TV show justice (no funny noises or anything) they still are pretty cool. If you're a B&B fan I suggest you pick these up.

Book is very small with pictures of super high end stores. You know...2000 sq feet to showcase 10 t shirts.
Not for many people with stores. Go to Vegas and look at the stores there. At least you will get something for your money...

This book is a list of vocabulary words - no kidding, there's nothing else! So I went to their website thinking I must have misunderstood the description, after all, it does indicate there will be outlines. That made me think there would be more than a list of terms. But no - there's nothing else!
So - I can only recommend this book to someone looking for a vocabulary list.

Informative and down-to-earth........2000-06-14

This book provides useful suggestions on how to engage infants and toddlers in conversation during a parent's day to day activities. It also provides guidelines for introducing children to books and to maintain their interest in word discovery through literature, songs and rhymes. There is a wonderful chapter for parents to make their own inexpensive but imaginative toys. I had already read several books on children's linguistic development before buying this one, so I was disappointed with the redundant information I found in this book and was a little surprised to discover the authors using a very straight-forward and simple writing style. However, when I finally read the back cover of the book, I realize they intended the audience to be "low literacy parents and parents for whom English is a second language". I actually admire their down-to-earth approach compared to the high-jargoned variety of books that fill the bookstores. This book will be useful for daycare providers who need ideas to communicate to parents in an effective manner.

Another great look from the soldier's perspective!.......2004-01-23

I wish there were more diaries from soldiers written as well as this one. Hitchcock had a flair for writing and describing his events as a soldier very well. Hitchcock diary takes the reader on a long journey from enlisting in summer of 1862 to his final discharge in December of 1864. Throughout the journey Hitchcock brings to life the daily soldier grind, picket duty, camp life, fighting, being captured and the tough life of being a prisoner at Andersonville. I found the several chapters on Andersonville to be the most interesting in the book as it acts as a great resource of information for daily life at the prison. Hitchcock's daily diary writing is usually quite short and he doesn't write long narratives as compared to other soldier accounts. Sometimes I had wished he had written more details on the fighting, although his explanations of the fighting during the battle of Cold Harbor were very descriptive and I could easily vision the horrors. In other situations, Hitchcock was brief about his experiences at Fredericksburg in 1862 although he didn't see much fighting there. His best work on that subject came about from descriptions of the city and the hardships endured there. Overall, this book is an excellent source of information for those seeking insight about soldier life in the Civil War and books like this are priceless.

Few books do I re-read, but this is one of those........1997-10-21

I found "From Ashby to Andersonville" a particulary moving and interesting book. The experiences of the civil war private who wrote the original diary encompass a remarkable amount of the war, both East and West. The tale told is rich in the real human drama of that life in all its day to day trials and tribulations and occasional joys. Editor Ron Watson keeps the reader oriented by insightful forwards to each chapter establishing the context of the place and time. From it I have a much better sense of the ebb and flow of that great war. Few books do I plan to re-read, but this is one of those.

Few books have captured my interest and emotion as this one...a young man tells his personal tale of the Civil War ~ revealing his code of ethics, bravery, love of country, and the horrors of war. The editor provides an excellent backdrop with well-researched, newly-revealed historical data about the war. A MUST read!

This book has been around for a while (published in 1990) but it is a wonderful and intriguing topic -- how wild birds manage to find places to live and thrill in the city. Beautiful illustrations help to tell the story of all the amazing places and ways that city birds build their nests. Text is rich in information. Any child, young or old, will find this book fascinating, but a city-dwelling child will particularly enjoy it.

This book was featured on Reading Rainbow. It explains with detailed illustrations how birds live in the city. I found it an interesting subject, and so did my 18 month old child. I am sure a child of any age will enjoy it.
