We gave this to our 5 year old as a gift. She was drawing all the pictures in no time. It takes them throug each picture step by step. It is very easy to understand. I would recommend it to those who are encouraging drawing.

This book is designed to be a teacher's aid. Each page shows step by step directions to draw simple pictures, with a place on the page to draw it. The facing page has information that could be used for a lesson plan. I am not a teacher, so the set-up of the book is not ideal, but the directions are easy to follow.
A must for all primary teachers!.......2001-02-15
This wonderfully constructed book is a must have for all primary educators. It transformed my reluctant artists into confident and capable risk taking artists! My 1st Grade students beg for more.

Good book - better than taking a class.......2001-04-09
I really enjoyed this book. I already knew the concepts of desktop publishing, but was new to CorelDRAW and needed something that would get me up and running quickly. Each chapter of the book showed me what the program could do and then told me how to do it. I liked the web-links to see some finished projects in color.
Also, I had a question about how to pronounce something in the book and e-mailed the author. He e-mailed me back with the answer right away.
I am very impressed with this book and with the author. I highly recommend "Sam's Teach Yourself CorelDRAW 9 in 24 Hours" by David Karlins.
a good book but not good for a beginner.......1999-12-30
Normally, a marked as 24 hours course book should be easy to follow with and easy to learn from. However, Mr.Karlins tried to cover almost everything of Corel Draw 9 in this book, which causes a lot of confusion for the beginner reader.

I haven`t read the book. But I think it has a good layout.(I have a friend who has bought the book for CDraw Ver 8,He says it`s very easy to follow.)I think this newer version has the same approuch if not better.

Its ok, not as good as Thom Taylors book, but its good. It also has a nice part which is about various car artists, including Thom Taylor.
I didnt like that most of the pictures are not shown in colour.
Just a few pages are coloured and the rest isnt. There are colour drawings printed in black/white. I think thats stupid.
But the book isnt bad, worth getting if your interested in auto art.

This book is the greatest book in it's field the book teaches you everything you need to know about drawing cars. It tells you the equipment need,how to draw your own car,how to customs,and it also tells you how to colour and paint like a true professional. Anyone thinking of drawing cars or anyone who has been drawing cars for years can pick up many helpfull hints and tips from this book it is well worth the money and is essential if your are to get into the field of automotive art.

A good reference book without the pretty picturues.......2003-03-15
For the real Harley and motorcycle fan. If you want a book of large color photos (many seen in other books & magazines) then don't go for this one. However, if you want an informative complete text of the history of the company, its ups and downs and the machinery it put out in the 20th. Century, then this is the book.
It contains many rare black and white photos from all ages of Harley, with reproduction of trade ads and extracts from manuals from various periods.
It is apparent why the author was the Offical Historian of the Harley Davidson Owners' Association (until the association was disolved by H-D when the company formed its own, factory sponsored owners' group). He tackles his subject matter in a historian's complete manner, but never loses sight of the fact it is an exciting ongoing subject he is dealing with and not some museum piece.
Unlike other reviewers (each to their own), I found this a great book and would certainly recommend it to Harley riders or fans of motorcycles who want to get a full picture of America's premier make and its models through the years.
Informative, candid, and detailed, but poorly presented........1999-05-04
While I commend Mr. Sucher for the extensive time and effort he obviously devoted to fact gathering and investigation for this work, I must state that the quality of writing, editing, and printing of the material leave much to be desired. The book is rife with glaring and distracting typographical errors. Sentences and paragraphs are often incomplete or otherwise mechanically unsound. Information is presented haphazardly and without a clear focus. And the type face itself is eye-straining, it being excessively cramped, poorly laid out and often fading as if it were issued from a printer that was low on ink. I found it particularly difficult to believe the text is in such a state in its fifth edition, and after numerous reprints. The writing style tends to be monotonous, even for a journalistic approach, and the information and verbiage is often redundant or crowded with insignificant facts that would be better relegated to an expanded set of appendices. Nevertheless, I must also say that this book offers readers a wealth of information on the history of Harley-Davidson and the development of its product over the years that probably is not available anywhere else. Diehard enthusiasts can gain from it invaluable insight into the mysteries of H-D, if they are sufficiently motivated to trudge through this unwieldy text.
Great reading for the history buff.......1997-12-21
If you like detail, this is the H-D book. The author has been around the block more than a few times, having traveled the world extensively to assist in gathering information for this exhaustive work. Of particular interest to me was that considerable information was included that provides insight into the personalities of the founding fathers, as well as many other key figures that influenced the course of H-D for the last 95 years. I got a little bogged down in some areas of the book, feeling somewhat side-tracked into loosely related areas I didn't feel were particularly pertinent. From the title, (the Milwaukee Marvel) I was expecting it would deal mainly with the mechanical and technical aspects of H-D motorcycles. But the text is packed with information the author has gleened from personal experience as well as countless interviews he has had with people formerly connected with the Motor Company. What I found revealing were factors that shaped company policy and manufacturing practices. Unlike "Official Publications" of H-D (which tend to contain information and historical facts that only reflect favorably on the company), I felt that this work presents an honest and objective history. For H-D gurus who are looking for all the historical details, this one is a "must-have" for your library..

On the night of 5th June 1944, the greatest armada the world has seen sailed into the stormy waters of the English Channel. After 5 years of war in the European Theater, its goal was no less than the liberation of Occupied Europe and the defeat of Nazi Germany.This bold gamble could easily have ended in the worst military defeat in history. An entralling visual window into a great moment of history.......2004-07-29
Obviously, opinions about books - and reviews of them - are highly subjective, and two different people can look at the same work and come away with honest, but diametrically opposed views of the book's merits. I found Going and Jones' presentation of the aerial reconnaissance photographs of the D-Day invasion to be strongly compelling. In a very real sense, in my opinion, readers are transported back to a "you are there" moment, looking far down upon men desperately fighting for their lives, unaware of the observation. Those tiny dots are individual soldiers. Tanks and combat engineering vehicles are slightly larger dark blocks. We see smoke drifting across the land, the white wakes of landing craft making their runs to the beaches, shell and bomb craters scarring the fields, discarded parachutes ... all from a literally bird's eye view, albeit a very high flying bird. There is an immediacy to these aerial reconnaissance images that I personally found enthralling. I do not claim that this is a book for everyone, not even for every military history enthusiast, but I do know that for some of us, such photographs provide a powerful link to this momentous event. As for the criticisms expressed in another review ... yes, it would have been good to have some larger-sized photographs, although I am not convinced that the limitations imposed by original image resolution would have supported greater enlargement in any meaningful way, but might have instead yielded merely larger blurs, perhaps even more difficult to visually interpret. The authors state quite clearly that they have already passed these images through modern computer enhancements, so apparently what we face are limits stemming from the originals. For me, what Going and Jones have done is to present us with an enthralling window into an important and dramatic moment of history.
TOO SMALL!.......2004-06-25
Do not WASTE your money. If ever a book needed to be large format, this is the one. I was extremely disappointed with the quality and size of the aerial photos. The dot-resolution is so low (about 85 lpi) that the detail is deminished in these already small images. Most photos are on average 1.5 to 3 inches on the page making if impossible to see the subject that is highlighted. Some photos are scanned from other books and have a pattern morray showing the dot on dot distortion. I would have done better to spent my money on the History Channel DVD.
