This is an excellent book for aspiring fashion illustrators. Sonia Delaunay's style was so ahead of its time that you can see her influence in todays fashion illustrations. Also, seeing the way she plays with color and shape is fascinating. I did wish the text was slightly more in-depth.

If you just can't get enough of Castle Neuschwanstein..........2002-02-15

Yes, I know you have seen many pictures of the castle before, but this book is like a collection of the different views and during different seasons. I've never seen more idylic settings for a castle than in the pages of this book. The picture taken in the winter with a dusting of snow blanketing the landscape is incredibly dream-like. It evokes thoughts of fairy tales & fantasy.

The book does have floorplans of the castle all on one page that include three levels of the building. I would think there are more levels & plans, but perhaps that is all that was allowed to display to the public.

I'm glad I got the book because I have visited the castle and it is one of my all-time favorites. However, I rate it only 4 stars because it is a steep price to pay (over $40) for only 60 pages.

Neuschwanstein - 1999.......2000-01-31

An excellant presentation of the castle. The first part of the book is narrative (both English and German) relating to design and construction, including the various architectural styles that co-exist. I found some of the architectural comparisons difficult to follow. This section also details King Ludwig's constant demands for design changes, and advanced construction technologies necessary to create this Baravian wonder. Following this are plan views identifying all buildings and rooms of the castle. The remainder has surpurb photographs showing the exterior from several directions and in different seasons and interior photos presenting all major rooms as well as many areas not available to tourists, such as the unfinished second floor.

Good place to start if you're interested in European castles.......2006-03-10

My 4th grader and I first discovered this book at the local public library. This book is suited for elementary grade children, though I found it equally informative and nostalgic for an adult. It's easy to read, has an interesting account of the history, royal personality and effort that went into the building of this fairy tale castle. The timeline provided is also helpful in relating the castle to past and present day events. The glossary at the end helps explain the meaning of foreign words and pronounciation.

We like the balance of information, beautiful photos and bits of related trivia which are a good introduction for anyone new to this topic. This book sparked our interest in finding out about other castles, especially in this Castle, Plalces & Tombs series.

Tiny Book, not worth it.......2006-02-23

My wife ordered this book & didn't look at the page count. This is a tiny book (size of a childrens book) not worth the money.

Don't think this is a scholarly treatise on the engineering and construction of the Bavarian dream palace. It's a hard paper cut-out, fold and glue miniature (under two feet) of the castle. Well done, if that's what you're looking for. Best for 12 years old and up model builders and as a father-son project. Would also be a swell home for some of your model soldier knights.

Dick Wright began his career drawing ushers at church and spending too much time doodling in school. Still, with a lot of prayer and a little luck, he graduated anyway. He grew up to be an award-winning editorial cartoonist. Wright remains very active in church work. He helped start a new church in northern Virginia and continues to be active as an adult Sunday school teacher and church leader.

Dick Wright has been the editorial cartoonist of the Columbus Dispatch since 1996, yet he began his cartooning career in 1974. In the past, he has worked on the West and East coasts, for the San Diego Union and the Providence Journal, respectively. His cartoons, syndicated by United Feature Syndicate, have been featured in many editions of Pelican's Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year series.

If you were to disect sentences of any person in public life, you can make them look stupid......it is almost scary what people can do to make public figures look stupid. I never liked Quayle, but junk books like this are not worth the paper they are written on.

This fine book raises the question: how has the United States gotten to a point where someone clearly learning disabled can become Vice President. I feel sorry for this poor retarded man but, even more, for the US.

Teens want and need their parents in their life even though they may not act like they do. What I liked about this book is that the author encourages you to talk and listen to your teenager about what is going on in his/her life. The book is easy to read and understand. Some of the chapters that I enjoyed reading are: Keep Talking to Them; Be An Example; Listen to Them; Help Them Build on Solid Foundations; Give Them Quality and Quantitiy Time; Help Them Find Their Special Talent; and Learn More About Them and Their Friends.
