I grew up reading Erma Bombeck. I have always loved her columns and her books. My parents and I would sit around the dinner table and discuss her columns ~~ but now as a mother and a wife, I have a much better appreciation of Erma's writing.

This one is about her kids coming home in 1987 and one of them announced that he's moving back in permanently ~~ and it's a rundown of all the things that family members do. Sometimes, it's funny and sometimes, it's annoying. But what are you going to do? Throw them out on the streets? Erma had me laughing all night while laying in the hospital bed with a sick preschooler. She's been there and I am going through it. It's a honest, refreshing look at parenting and marriage ~~ everyone should read Erma. She gets her points across with humor and statire.

I am reading three others of her books ~~ and can't wait to read them. She's the perfect medicine for this housewife!

One of the funniest humor columnists of all time, Erma Bombeck has scored again with this funny snapshot of family life.

It's 1987, and all three Bombeck children have come home for a visit (one of whom has decided to make his visit permanent). Not only does Erma provide us with a timeline of the events of this particular weekend, she also delves back into her memories of the years gone by as she routinely attempts to defend her parenting skills (or lack of them) to us.

It's been several years since Erma Bombeck passed away. But her books continue to be as funny and relevent today as they were back then. "Family - The Ties That Bind and Gag" is no different.

This is 270 pages of details. From his very handy section on AAF units through a great section on uniform items to a very informative appendix section - this is a great book to own.

If you need to know about the United States Army Airforce in World War II then, quite simply, you need this book.

Martin Bowman has excelled himself as far as breadth of subject is concerned. The information contained within this book won't tell you everything you need to know about any one airforce, theatre of operations, or type of plane, but it is guaranteed to have SOMETHING about EVERYTHING.

I am a Designer/Researche/Producer for a Computer Games firm, and I found this work to be of incredible use in our World War II aviation product. It provides a springboard to further information, and will really help you know what it is that you need to know.

What a fetish we have made of accuracy and precision in maps! These maps--even the mediaevil ones showing the location of the Garden of Eden--are coherent world views. Many of the maps have been restored to their original look.
Hard to know where to draw the line between art, science, religion and history. Excellent text.

From the author: We quantified and characterized the nesting habitat of Malabar Gray Hornbills (Tockus griseus) Dec. 1993 - May 1994 in the Anaimalai Hills of southern Western Ghats, India. Twenty-six nest-site variables were recorded in each of 27 nest plots to evaluate variability of nest-site selection. Malabar Gray Hornbills selected nest trees of significantly larger diameter at breast height (DBH 60-89 cm), and greater height of the lowest limb than the associated values from randomly chosen trees. The number of trees of 60-74 cm DBH class was significantly higher in the nest site plots than in the random plots. Most nests were in tall live trees and were formed primarily by heart rot where a branch had broken. Comparison of relative abundance of potential nest cavities and availability of trees in different DBH classes in belt transects indicates that more cavities were formed in trees of larger diameter. Density of potential nest cavities was 10/ha. Malabar Gray Hornbills consistently chose smaller trees than sympatric Great Hornbills (Buceros bicornis). This study indicates the need of mature moist forest habitat for nesting by the Malabar Gray Hornbill.
