The human form as it should be seen, beautiful and strong.......1997-01-31

In my own work, these books are among the most influential I have ever seen. Herb Ritts is truly one of my personal idols, and the reason for that is evident upon opening the cover of either of the books in this two book set. His images of the human form reveal more than just its nudity, but also its beauty, and strength. Some of the models would qualify as "supermodels", some are less well known, but all are prime examples of the healthy, beautiful human form. Great book.......2005-07-08

Although this is not a widespread-known book, it is EXCELLENT if you want to learn how to use the EViews program and check the underlying econometric theory. It is important to take in account that this book teaches the basics of the program and that programming is not covered, for that reason, it is useful for undergraduate students and practitioners who are not familiar with the program.
Its explanations are so good and simple that even kids could read it. It includes tips that are not regularly taught in econometrics courses and that help you accelerate every analysis, especially when working with databases.
I would say there is only one caveat: As of July 2005, the book had not been updated to account for the features of the latest release of EViews (5.0). However, what this book covers is still useful because EViews has not changed the way it works, it has just added new stuff.

Out-of-date no-brainer.......2007-08-03

If you can get past the horrible writing style (a lot of sentences begin with "So..." or "Now..." and end with exclamation points!!) you'll find dangerously out-of-date information like including raw eggs in your protein shake, placing newborns on their tummies to sleep, recommending crib bumpers, ets. The product guide should be updated to include current books, prices and web sites for purchases. And why do I need 300 pages to tell me to talk to the baby in utereo and cuddle and hold her when she is a newborn? Aren't these infant stimulation techniques obviously helpful for bonding and development? Haven't people always known this stuff?
I can't believe this book is still available.

Highly important in today's world. That we really understand that our babies are aware and "hearing" everything that goes on is critical! Extremely Dangerous Nutritional Advice.......2004-01-05

In general, I enjoy reading the book although I find some of the tips were dated and extremely dangerous. For example, the Berman's Protein Shake contains a raw egg that can be dangerous to the baby since it may contain salmonella bacteria. Since we all know that all babies are extremely sensitive to fragrance--a petrochemical additive, and other additives are processed foods, I don't believe it is a good idea to put perfume on the baby toy. Read this book with caution!!!

Hi, I have made a few toys for our baby based on the recommendations, but would also like to buy the professionally made toys. Since this book is kinda old, I am not sure if the company still exists at the location, and what are the charges for the toys. Was anyone successful in buying these toys? Where are they available?

I read HOW TO HAVE A SMARTER BABY in 1985, the year my daughter was born. Did everything the book recommended, from pre-natal music to development of all of the infant's primary senses. Everything came easily to this daughter -- who is now High Honors in high school, and by class ranking, one of the smartest children in her high school class. She learned the alphabet by the time she was 2, could read by the time she was 4, has always had a spectacular memory and is headed towards an ivy league college. In large part, I am sure, HOW TO HAVE A SMARTER BABY played a role in her scholastic success.

In this memoir, Ambassador Ray Garthoff paints a dynamic diplomatic history of the cold war, tracing the life of the conflict from the vantage points of an observant insider. His intellectually formative years coincided with the earliest days of the cold war, and during his forty-year career, Garthoff participated in some of the most important policymaking of the twentieth century:

* In the late 1950s he carried out pioneering research on Soviet military affairs at the Rand Corporation. * During his four-year tenure at the CIA (1957-61), in addition to drafting national intellingence estimates, Garthoff made trips to the Soviet Union with Vice President Richard Nixon and as an interpreter for a delegation from the Atomic Energy Commission. * As a special assistant in the State Department, Garthoff worked with Secretary Dean Rusk., and he was directly involved in the Cuban missile crisis of 1962. Later he served as executive officer and senior State Department adviser for the strategic arms limitation talks (SALT) delegation. * In the 1970s he served as a senior Foreign Service inspector, leading missions to a number of countries around the globe. * As U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria (1977-79), Garthoff gained first-hand knowledge of the workings of a communist state and of the Soviet bloc. * In the 1980s, Garthoff wrote two major studies of American-Soviet relations. He traveled to the Soviet Union nearly a dozen times in the final decade of the cold war, and in the early 1990s he had access to the former Soviet Communist Party archives in Moscow.

Garthoff's journey through the Cold War informs the views, positions, and actions of the past. His anecdotes and observations will be of great value to those anticipating the challenges of reevaluating American post-cold war security policy.
