perfect handbook for the family photographer.......2006-09-05

This book is not about becoming a professional dog photographer but it is intended for the family photographer who wants to know how to take the best pictures of their dog or their family's dog. Pictures they can hang on the wall later on or put in scrapbooks. It will help you create images of your dog that will catch the dog's true spirit.

It does not matter if you have a cheap film camera or an expensive digital SLR camera, the tips and techniques in this book will work for any camera. Throughout the different chapters the text is accompanied by famous dog quotes every now and then and along with all the tips and techniques are 305 illustrations in total (only ten in b/w) that clearly show you before and after situations and different camera setups and their resulting photographs.

In the first chapters you'll get familiar with all the technical stuff like equipment and exposure, then you'll move on to more practical techniques like lightning, composition and taking great action shots, posing and portraits. The last part explains in short chapters how to digitize your film photographs, how to enhance your digital pictures and how to
turn them into scrapbook pages. In the appendix you'll get to meet all the dogs that were models for the illustrations throughout this book.

With its 144 pages this book is a definite handbook for beginning photographers who want to know everything about taking beautiful photographs of their beloved dogs. If you are looking for more professional dog photography you might be better off with Creative Canine Photography. This book, Love Your Dog Pictures, though handles everything you ever needed to know about dog photography and with a creative mind I'm sure you can be just as well a professional dog photographer. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve their photographing skills and who wants to catch their dog's real personality on image.

A great referance for the advance amateur covering the history and methods ( applied and theoretical ) of astrophotography. A definite must for all amateur astronomers that photograph the sky.

Not for the masses.......1998-01-28

If one can read through the author's interminablly sophomoric and condescending attitude(s); perhaps a nuggest or two of knowledge can be gleaned by those who can perservere. The commercial reviews are terribly outdated. This book is for those who have unlimited funding for building exotic telescopes and accessories. I cannot recommend this book and wish I had not read it so I could return it for a refund.

A bit dated but still the best book on astrophotography........1998-01-13

This book pre-dates CCDs but still gives the best coverage of the theory and practice of all aspects of astrophotography. A must-have for your reference library.

As I Said, this book is'nt really bad for looking up comic strips you've heard mentioned someplace, but it really needed more illustrations and many facts are wrong in the articles that I knew were wrong.. There are probably more, but I wouldn't know about most...

Still not sure how Mr. Cunningham did it but he managed to cover all the major aspects of value investing in short manner. Quick read for Freshman value investors. (Also has great reminders for Seniors.) Well worth the price.

If you are reading this review, you have been sucked in by the title, probably because you somehow relate. If so, then the topic is of huge significance to you. The book is solid, and the content reflects the title.

Regardless of your background, if you have a Christian faith and desire to live out that faith with your children, then bring your highlighter and keep notes as you read.

Not everyone comes into parenting with great childhood experiences to draw from. Even if you did have a safe upbringing, ALL parents are forging a new way for their children. We are all "pioneers". Of the three excellent books of Mary's I have been priviledged to read, this is the one that has had me most riveted to each nugget of truth. I am a quick reader, and usually don't read a book twice in a year but this one has me dipping into it almost daily. I have read and re-read the chapters, blinking in the freshness as I absorbed and processed each life altering concept. It has revolutionised my way of life, the sense of who I am, how fragile we are and how Great is Our God. It has given me a glimpse of the Father heart of God and my husband and I have turned our mistaken foundation of parenting back to the example in the Word, thanks to reading this book. I am also peeling away the 'onion layers' of my own childhood.

Mary is a highly proficient messenger of the truth. Her words fly directly from the heart of the healer in my belief and I am honoured to have walked through the pages of her journey and find my own healing in that experience.

Clear, concise, well illustrated.......2006-10-12

This book is a very good overview of trench warfare in the first world war. It provides adequate and clear text along with many photographs, maps, layout drawings and more. The photograph selections are perfect for the text they accompany. The book is organized into how the war began, the nations and soldiers involved, description of the strategies of the combatant nations, life in the trenches, weapons and equipment used, the stalemate that ensued and the battle progress measured in feet. A great book for a quick overview and sense of being there.
