Cecily keeps it interesting!.......2007-07-08

Cecily von Ziegesar's 4th installment in the Gossip Girl series is fun and interesting. In this segment, Blair gets the chance to redue her Yale interview with one of her fathers friend who works for Yale. At school, Serena and Blair join a peer pressure group where Jenny and other freshmen, including Elise Owens gets advice and gets to ask for help on pressure. Blair falls in love with her Yale interviewer, who falls in love back. But she realizes that he was Elise's father, and Elise is saddend by the fact that her father is less around, and she believes he is having an affair, so Blair leaves him. Serena gets to model for ads and at a fashion show, which leads to the breakup of her and Aaron, Blair's stepbrother. One of Dan's poems gets published in a newspaper and it becomes famous, and he gets to speak at a country club, and go to party's. Vanessa's filming becomes famous, but she turns down and deal with a famous filmer. Nate goes to rehab after his dealer starts working for the police. There he mets another girl and saves her life, while also falling in love with her. Cecily did a great job on this novel, and she keeps the series interesting.

Gossip Girl, Because im worth it.......2007-04-14

Welcome to New York, where all the drama, lies, friendships, and romance happen. Blair and Serena, best friends and seniors of Constance Billard School for Girls go through the hard time of getting ready for college. Dan and Vanessa, boyfriend and girlfriend struggle with the peer pressure of becoming famous. Dan is a Poet, Vanessa is a Film maker. Nate a senior prays that he gets accepted to Brown University, but that's not going to happen if he doesn't stay in rehab, even though he loves it. Blair suffers as she waits impatiently for her news of being accepted to Yale, while Serena model's and dates Blair's new step-brother Aaron. Jenny, Dan's younger sister who is in 9th grade falls in love with Nate (Blair's ex-boyfriend) who is a senior. But in the end Jenny finds out that he is not the one. Well, right now I'm going to stop before I tell you what happens in the end. But I would recommend this book for girls in 8th grade and up it explains so much about everyday life. Enjoy!

changes.......2006-08-24

After the disappointed g.g book # 3 This book (The fourth one) comes out it's so good. It's good like the first book was. Alot of things happen that are shocking like Nate gets busted in the park and Blair has an affair with a married man! Wow it was good. But the thing I hate about this book is Dan and Vanessa. Anything with them I quickly read through. It's so boring until Dan cheats on her with Mystery Craze. Also he's becoming very arrogant just like the rest of the characters in this book and I hate that! His sister Jenny has a lesbian affair too. I didn't see that one coming. It's all too juicy to put down.

My favorite.......2006-07-03

This is the third gossip girl novel. So far out of reading all of them so far, this is my favorite. I like the plot that Jenny and all the characters were into. They live the perfect lives and it's just hilarious to see what they're going to be doing next.

Dan is the poet, Vanessa is the girl who knows what she wants to do, Blair is used to getting everything she wants. This sometimes happens. And Serena is just the star, who out glows them all in the plot. Nate is just pathetic in my opinion.

Gossip Girl- Because I'm worth it.......2006-06-25

The Gossip Girl books are amazing and I often find myself thinking they should be made into a teenage T.V. show!
The book was good as they always are but for me it was a bit of a let down because Nate and Blair are not together and that is just not an option. I also found some parts kind of unrealistic, I mean Jenny and Elise kissing!?
This is also the book that Nate gets busted for smoking pot in. He is sent to rehab and meets this insane druggie girl Gorgie and they end up going out to Blair's horror.
Dan gets really big headed in this book because his poem "Sluts" gets published in the New yorker and this weirdo agent Rusty Klein says she wants to represent him. Now thats all fine until Rusty introduces Dan to another one of her clients Mystery Craze. Mystery is supposedly writing a book about her life and as he should Dan finds her very odd at first. But surprisingly, towards the end of the book Dan finds himself cheating on Vanessa with Mystery. Vanessa eventually finds out when Dan and Mystery end up having sex on stage in front of an audience.
I'll stop there before I totally spoil the whole story! But I will say this, if you were going to read the book go ahead and read it but don't hold me responsible if you don't like it!

Rush Style.......2001-07-16

Sometimes an infinitive can only be split, sometimes a paragraph is just one sentence, and sometimes a sentence has to end with a preposition. PLAIN STYLE business writing breaks the rules when that is what it takes to be what works best for readers and writers: concise, emphatic and simple. The author says that it is always easy to simplify: ape good speaking and think of the reader ready to boil things down, misunderstand and read words, not the dictionary or the writer's mind. Richard Lauchman's entertainingly helpful book works wonders with CLEAR TECHNICAL WRITING by John A. Brogan, TECHNICAL WRITING by William S. Pfeiffer, and THE COMPLETE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO GRAMMAR AND STYLE by Laurie Rozakis.

In this volume, Alexander sketches the history of organized labor in the countries of Uruguay and Paraguay. He covers such topics as the role of organized labor in the economics and politics of these two countries and their relations with the international labor movement. It is based on extensive personal contacts of the author with the labor movements over almost half a century. It may seem unusual at first to have both of these countries in one volume because there does not exist anywhere else in Latin America such historical political disparity between neighboring countries as that between Uruguay and Paraguay. However, in spite of the political contrasts, there are certain similarities in the history of the labor movements of these two republics. In both Uruguay and Paraguay, the earliest organizations to be founded by the workers were mutual benefit societies, rather than trade unions. But in both countries, trade unions which sought to protect their members against employers began to appear. By the early years of the 20th century, these unions began to demand that employers negotiate with them, and there were an increasing number of strikes, attempting to make these demands effective. There were soon efforts to bring together the various trade unions into broader local, national, and international labor organizations.

Young Brandenburg did what few thought to do, and what would have been impossible only a few years later - to interview influential nazis still alive in the late 70's early 80's. The book provides an eye-opening look into the mentality and sensibility that fostered naziism, but the show was not without cost, and the author is almost drawn into the maelstrom of the self-serving dogma of fanaticism, and the insensitivity to the suffering that it produces. In the end, I found myself wondering if it was worth it - to speak firsthand with the leaders of this demented movement provided valuable historical insights - and yet, by pretending to go along with the nazi mentality in order to gain their trust, the author both allows them another venue to promote their caustic dogma, and finds himself befriending some of the most reprehensible emenies of human brotherhood, peace, and dignity - all the while claiming to abhor their agenda while admiring their "courage". The author manifested great personal courage also, if courage means to risk personal danger in the commitment to a cause. But what of moral courage? Brandenburg's quest for truth is rooted in moral courage, and might parallel the courage it truth for many americans to question the warren commission, and look long and hard at the facts supporting a high-level govenment conspiracy and coup. Yet, somehow the moral issues got derailed along the way, although the final act, of actually publishing the book, seems to be in defiance to the tangent, a final-ditch effort at absolution for compromises along the way. The book raises some deep and disturbing issues, while itself being content to deal with the more superficial aspects of the nazi regime. Definitely worth reading, if for nothing other than the human touch of gritty reality that it lends to an almost abstract historical era.

Young Brandenburg, deeply disturbed by the film "Holocaust" on West German TV, set out to learn the truth by interviewing as many former Third Reich officials as he could find. He succeeded to a remarkable degree, gaining the confidence of a number of former Nazi insiders and eliciting their often unregenerate recollections and opinions.

In the course of these fascinating interviews many sensational allegations emerge, involving famous Americans, high Vatican officials, Nazi loot, and secret Nazi organizations, but as little further substantiation is provided beyond the memories of these old Nazis, their self-serving accounts of events must be viewed with some skepticism.
