Use caution when ordering any plans from Frank Betz. The roof designs will leak over time! Once you order the plans and can see this, Frank Betz will not refund your money. They do not offer study plans (wonder why). They are all advertising and hype!

In Writing Workplace Cultures: An Archaeology of Professional Writing, Jim Henry analyzes eighty-three workplace writing ethnographies composed over seven years in a variety of organizations. He views the findings as so many shards in an archaeology on professional writing at the beginning of the twenty-first century.
These ethnographies were composed by either practicing or aspiring writers participating in a Master’s program in professional writing and editing. Henry solicited the writers' participation in "informed intersubjective research" focused on issues and questions of their own determination. Most writers studied their own workplace, composing "auto-ethnographies" that problematize these workplaces' local cultures even as they depict writing practices within them.
Henry establishes links between current professional writing practices and composition instruction as both were shaped by national economic development and local postsecondary reorganization throughout the twentieth century. He insists that if we accept basic principles of social constructionism, the text demonstrates ways in which writers "write" workplace cultures to produce goods and services whose effects go far beyond the immediate needs of its clients.

Are you ready to give birth? I bet you did not even know you were in labor. Well, its time to wake up and take the test. What test you ask? The Bi-Polar Brain Test of course. Its not hard, and you cant fail either (or pass for that matter). Its a skill monitor and change and alter perceptions as you read on. What you will learn, and what I found most ingenius, is that you and I and everyone in the world are chemistry kits. We have built in pharmacies! Why go out and buy alcohol when we can produce it ourselves? Why pay lots of money for acid when your brain is primed for such a state of existence! It wants it! And so do you!! And Christopher Hyatt and Antero Alli are just the tour guides to get you to that state of consciousness. In a fun picture filled fashion reminescent of Timothy Leary and Robert Anton Wilson with Alli and Hyatts own worldly wise witticisms that one can adore so easily. Ikuhiko Hata is a past Fellow of the Woodrow Wilson Center and presently Professor of History at Nihon University. His previous works include A History of the Japanese-Chinese War, 1931-1941. Yasuho Izawa is an Opthalmic Optician whose past works include Japanese Naval Aces and Fighter Units (with Professor Hata) and Bloody Shambles Vols 1 and 2 (with Christopher Shores).

You'll be sorry!.......2003-07-24
The careful translation of the original text into a more nicely-flowing English; the influence of the master historian, Chris Shores; the decision to publish by the renowned Grub Street Press: this should be a much better book than the volume detailing the naval fighter units of Japan by the same authors.
But it's not.
If you spend the better part of forty dollars hoping for a book that is more like Mr. Shores' "Bloody Shambles", Mr. Ford's "Flying Tigers", or even Mr. Bergerud's "Fire in the Sky", then you'll be sorry.
60 years overdue!.......2002-12-23
This handsome, detailed book lifts the curtain on the Japanese army units that fought in China, Southeast Asia, and the home islands during World War II. It's based on a Japanese-language text by a noted historian and an aviation buff, and rendered into workable English by the British historian Christopher Shores. The result is a much more accessible book than the earlier one by the same Japanese authors about the larger Japanese navy air force. There are many photos, side-views of JAAF fighters, accounts of the major campaigns, biographies of the aces (happily arranged in alphabetical order so you can quickly look them up), and an appendix listing every major air combat and every JAAF pilot lost in 15 years of war. A solid book that belongs in the library of every serious student of the Pacific War. -- Dan Ford

My favorite book at the moment - not a fan of our world.......1998-02-17
As far as books on the state we're in go, this one is a cracker. Not the easiest to read, or most gripping - but Jean knows what he thinks and he has thought a great deal. Plenty of metaphors for reading the world and copious references. It would be twee of me to say that I agreed with everything he said, but I would say that he certainly has some excellent reflections and observations on how the world is shaping us, shaping it. From the compression of time to the extent of globalisation and the hegemonic forces of modern capitalism. Not truly a layman's book, nor is it purely for the academic in the field. This book is for those who are concerned about where we are, where we have been, and, you've guessed it, where we are going. A great and masterful synopsis of modern life, with a little self importance but perhaps a little more justification for it. I like what is written there.
