Michael Graves's career has been one of the most remarkably creative and successful of any American architect practicing today. His extensive oeuvre includes such renowned projects as the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel and the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel in Florida, the San Juan Capistrano Library in California, and the precedent-setting Portland Building in Oregon, as well as designs for his highly popular lines of furniture, home furnishings, and artifacts. I got this book as a father's day present and I absolutely love it. It has great photography of each of the finished projects, gives a brief description of the project and interesting facts about each. There are also photos of some of Graves' 3-d models for some concept buildings that never "made it to production", as well as a peppering of his wonderfully whimsical sketches. A must have for anyone interested in architecture or design, or anyone that has even a remote fascination into the beauty that is a Graves' design.

Good, basic architectural drawing book.......2007-08-16
This is a good book for those who are thinking about getting involved with architecture. It provides a wide variety of the different styles and methods of depicting architecture, although it stays away from highly-accurate CAD-style drawings. Instead, it favors charcoals, watercolors and pen/pencil drawings, depicting perceived images and structures rather than actual construction drawings.
I would say that this book is a great beginner's book, as it shows you many of the different methods used to design buildings. There is not a lot of detail put into how to create the various drawings, but with a little time (read: Homework!) many of these basic methods can be learned without much difficulty.

The magnificent photographs in this book calm me after even the most aggravating of days in New York City. The pages of scientific explanation are clear and interesting. My only criticism is that the introductory "meditation" has a very religious/creationist slant. Otherwise, this is a beautiful book.

Be prepared to sink into a comfortable chair and sail-away into the magnificent photographs that Drew Kampion and Art Brewer have assembled. I never get tired of reading the text or looking at the glorious pictures.

After completing the book, I have examined the contents closely, discovering that Thomas Dunk has captured the essence of the working class male. It is refreshing to read and study the social-class interactions and bonding that so stratify the working class male. It is the research for my Sociology 361 Class, and thereby intended that we examine closely the relationships and class structures. I consider the book an easy and enjoyable read, enlightning and educational, even for the novice to ethnographical studies.

I'll Take Care of you is an excellent book that offers insight and information on the challenges of caregiving. Some day we will all be faced with either being a caregiver or one who receives the care. In this book we are given permission to feel the emotions and know that we are not alone in what we feel and what we are experienceing. I have purchased this book for a friend and am recommending it to all those I know who are currently giving care. It is comforting to know that there is a resource available that offers support, understanding and real concrete suggestions. Thank you Carole Rothman and Joseph Ilardo for making such a sensitive issue "speakable."

This clearly written book has been extremely useful in helping me deal with my disabled husband. Its advice is useful for all caregivers, not just for those dealing with the elderly. The section on "hidden caregivers" sheds a lot of light on why I feel the way I do. The practical advice has been most helpful. I have suggested it to many of my friends who are also caregivers, and have also given copies of it to may family to help them understand what I am going through.

I bought this book because I needed answers, not more questions. After reading this book, it is obvious to me that the author has had no experience taking care of an elderly relative. Where are the outcomes of the case studies?. yes, I saw myself in some of these studies, but none of them has a resolution. Researching a book is easy, writing a book is easy, anything is easy compared with actually being a caregiver. I am returning the book and looking for one that was written by someone who actually went through what I'm going through!

The book was a disappointment because the 500 or so black and white photographs were of a very small size (usually four in a page, placed like in a checkerboard style) and of poor quality. The 1st Panzer Division deserved a better account and it would be wise to avoid spending money on this volume.

Drawing on detailed data from their sixteen-year study of red-winged blackbirds in the marshes of Washington's Columbia National Wildlife Refuge, Beletsky and Orians analyze the information redwings use to make breeding-season decisions and the consequences these decisions have for lifetime reproductive success. Because male and female redwings make different, and often independent, decisions—males focus on territory acquisition and maintenance, while females must choose when and where to nest and how much energy to invest in reproduction—the authors have taken the novel approach of studying the sexes separately.
