Great Client Education book.......2007-08-02

This has wonderfully designed graphics and charts explaining the identity design process. This is a really good client education book, explaining the design process, why they need design, what identity design consists of, etcetera. I was looking for a book like this to explain to clients why they need identity design, what good it does, what it consists of and why their company cannot do without it any longer.

I also think it would be a good book to use to explain to family members, friends and neighbors "what you do." It would be a good book for someone who wants to start their own graphic design business, who is considering graphic design as their field of study, or who wants to convince others that graphic design is important. I recommend it highly for MARKETING professionals and those in ADVERTISING.

You big, giant companies that have lots of mulah can give this away as a gift to your clients, or use this as a book to set on a coffee table in the waiting room or something. But I am going to use it to explain to clients why identity design is important.

This book is not good for teaching graphic designers about creating brand identity. It is stuff we graphic designers were practically born knowing. But if you are a graphic designer who wants brand identity jobs, get it! It will help you turn your potential clients into clients.

Three magical girls from Tokyo..........2000-11-20

Magic knight rayearth is a comic book made by clamp. You can just recognize those beautiful large eyes. Well Magic knight rayeath is made up of six volumes. three for the first season and three for the second season. Three magical girls from Tokyo was transported into cefiro summoned by princess emeraude. These three girls are met by clef the most powerful sorceror of cephiro. He gives them each one magic and an evolving armor. he teaches hikaru magic but before he could teach magci to the rest of the bunch Alcione attacks. Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu ride on a bird and escape to presea's house which later on gives them their weapons make from the legendary mineral escudo. Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu arrive to the fountai of eterna supposidly where the mineral escudo is. They pass the escudo proof test and recieves the weapons make by Presea. Their armor evolves too... then blah blah blah they come to find the shrine of the sea where the sea manshin lays asleep. They are greeted by another ememy named ascot... well thats all I know for now cause I only own two books so far.

Who would have thought..........2000-09-03

The girls finally beocme Magic Knights and get the ultimate weapons, armor, and are able to don the spirits. Not only do they find out who that princess is in love with someone they have to end up with blood on their hands. then they are taken from their world in a flash and only one second has passed, but so much time has passed in Ceiphro. If you have books 1 & 2 you will have to buy #3. The ending probably will make you cry.

Magic Knight Rayearth.......2000-07-16

Wow. This is the most amazing manga I have ever seen. For those of you who know Sailor Moon, you may be thinking "Just a take off of Sailor Moon." But quality speaks for its self. This manga series vibrates with amazing characters, beautiful artwork, an extremely emotional storyline, esquisite word choice, and a loveable plot. In the beginning it may be a little predictable but as you go on you are surprised at the realisim this world creates and haunted by the suspence that builds up. Every little part adds to the whole mood created. I was extremely pleased to find such a delightful yet serious manga only a click away. So if you are either an experimenting manga person or a junkie try this and you will find a whole new world and a whole new excellence. I would pesonally give this 10 stars.

Amazing.......2000-05-04

Yet again another glorious work by CLAMP. Their stellar artwork has given me cause to turn green with envy. This one was a shocker though, the ending was a suprise like none other. It leaves you acheing for the next ones in the series.

And as always CLAMP gives us charecters to fall in love with. Woderful design and fight scenes. I can't recomend this book enough, but make sure you get 1 and 2 first. You wouldn't want to be confused by this amazing tale of monsters and magic

One of the most important books on Bisexuality........1998-02-01

While written primarily for the professional community, especially therapists, I would recommend Dr. Firestein's book for anyone interested in understanding all aspects of Bisexuality. For anyone who feels the need to understand themselves better, and perhaps know that they are not "confused", this book is informative in understanding how identities are informed by culture. While the first essay is a bit dry and academic, the rest of the book is absorbing, and occasionally amusing, and even inspiring. This is a truly major work.

Two forgotten weeks in 1836 and one of the most consequential events of the entire Texas Revolution have been missing from the historical record--the tale of the Mexican army's misfortunes in the aptly named "Sea of Mud," where more than 2,500 Mexican soldiers and 1,500 female camp followers foundered in the muddy fields of what is now Wharton County, Texas.

In 1996 a pediatrician and "avocational archeologist" living in Wharton, Texas, decided to try to find evidence in Wharton County of the Mexican army of 1836. Following some preliminary research at the Wharton County Junior College Library, he focused his search on the area between the San Bernard and West Bernard rivers. Within two weeks after beginning the search for artifacts, a Mexican army site was discovered, and, with the help of the Houston Archeological Society, excavated. Then began the archival exploration of the history behind the archeology, the contacting of historians with expertise in that period, and even the learning of Spanish so that the original source documents could be studied. The result is an amazing tour de force for a doctor who was "adept at circumcisions, spinal taps, and treating asthma but . . . knew next to nothing about Texas history."

One of those consulted in the course of this work was noted historian Professor James E. Crisp of North Carolina State University, who calls the author a "natural historian" and describes Dimmick's findings as "a story which rivals the miracle of San Jacinto in importance . . . a remarkably complete account of what happened to the main force of the Mexican army between April 21 and the second week of May, 1836 . . . a few days [within which] an orderly Mexican withdrawal to a defensive position within Texas turned into an unmitigated disaster which sealed the fate of the Mexican campaign."

The movements of the Mexican army during the two-week period from April 21 to May 9, 1836, are followed in meticulous detail, based on the full scope of published and unpublished sources, many of which appear here in English, and in their entirety, for the first time. The actions of Mexican generals Vicente Filisola and José de Urrea and the bitter rivalry between them are presented in their own words, from their letters and diaries. And this is only half the story. The author and his "digging buddies" have located many actual artifacts dropped or discarded in the mud by Mexican soldados more than 165 years ago. Thousands of hours excavating in the Sea of Mud (El Mar de Lodo) have produced hundreds of items (many pictured and described in the book) along the army's trail--munitions, arms, uniform fragments, and personal items--all serving to paint a more accurate picture than we have heretofore had of Santa Anna's army and its response to his order to retreat.

All in all, this is a breathtaking accomplishment in historical and archeological investigation and a book that will henceforth be a standard reference for those studying the 1836 campaign in Texas.

Well researched account of aftermath of San Jacinto.......2007-01-31

I first moved to Texas, in this case San Antonio, in the winter of 1973. Of course, I went to the Alamo. Interesting, but then I asked, "Why didn't the Mexican army follow up after San Jacinto?" No one knew, but that question has stuck in my head all these years--until now. This book is an excellent resource, examining not only the archeological evidence, but the diaries, orders and personalities of all involved.

A New Look at an Important Battle.......2005-04-22

I want to share Jim McKone's description (Museum of South Texas)of the book:
The author describes "the battle and aftermath that changed history. Dimmick, an avocational archeologist, discovered an Army site plus artifacts discarded in the mud that had been unknown to history more than 150 years. He is a medical doctor, a pediatrician with the South Texas Medical Clinics in Wharton, Tex.

Eight years of historical research, in which he learned Spanish to study documents from Mexico, resulted in the Texas State Historical Association in Austin publishing his unique book. "Sea of Mud" finds the truth of what happened before, during and after the battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836. The 400-page book, illustrated and with maps, throws fresh light on one of world history's most decisive battles.

Both published and unpublished documents from the defeated army tell what really happened, and why. Several Spanish documents are printed in English for the first time in Dimmick's book.

The author did his undergraduate work at Texas A&M University and received his M.D. in 1977 from the University of Nebraska Medical School. Born and raised in Wyoming, he admits he "knew next to nothing about Texas history" before working eight years on a military classic.
