Even better than his first book!.......2002-01-01

When I read Phillip Khan-Panni's first book, "2-4-6-8, How Do you Communicate?" I thought it was terrific. But when I read "Blank Page to First Draft in 15 Minutes" I thought it was even better. It is full of valuable information from beginning to end. It has everything I would ever want to know about preparing a speech or presentation.

Phillip's style is easy to read. He makes powerful, important points, then illustrates them with narratives that take the reader into the subject and makes it even easier to understand and recall.

This book not only gives you a simple-to-master template, it explains the underlying principles of effective presentations. As the author himself says, his purpose is to help you fashion your thoughts into messages that others will want to hear. Although this book is a bit weak in explanations as to why this is happening to our bodies, I appreciate the fact that the title includes "Progesterone". My reason why is that I was prescribed synthetic progesterone when I first started suffering from those perimenopausal problems. I got so depressed it was scary. I stopped them immediately and sought out alternatives... a site where my family has purchased supplements, herbs and vitamins for several years now has a whole section devoted to women's health. There I found some blends that are helping me immensely. I ordered ... a black cohosh blend and a wild yam cream, followed the directions and am feeling much more myself. Although this book doesn't cover it all, it is good for empowering women to not settle for synthetic forms when there are so many natural forms out there. In case you are doing searches for these, another word for these are phytoestrogers. Check them out...

Good book in a question and answer format.......2000-03-28

I found this book less informative than others on progesterone such as Dr. Lee's "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You..." books or "The Estrogen Alternative" But it still covers the basics. It does not contain an extensive reference section or "lessons" in biology to answer the biggest question, "why?". This is a good book for those who are just learning and have many questions. The question and answer format allows the reader to get direct answers to questions instead of having to read the whole book to get an answer to a specific question.

The Seasons of the Sioux.......2000-05-25

The book begins with a young Dakota Indian boy being told of the changes that occur in nature and in life by his father and ends with him continuing the "moon-stick" tradition he was taught despite it being a different time. Changes in nature and in the lives of the Sioux come with each new moon of the Sioux year. A "moon-counting stick" is used to keep track of each moon and is replaced every Spring, which is when the Sioux year begins. The illustrations in this book capture the changes of the seasons through color, from the brighter, fresher colors of spring to the warmer, deeper colors of autumn. Each season and corresponding Sioux activity is described poetically in an attempt to convey the spirit and feeling of the season and the people as they read nature's signs. I loved the use of color and poetry to capture the mood of each season and the mood of the Sioux, summertime sewing circles with strawberries to color leather leggings and the white of snow as "blinding" with the "biting" cold. I hesitate to give it 5 stars only because the phrase "the Great Spirit" is used, insinuating the Sioux believed in one great governing spirit when in fact, many spirits were acknowledged, each playing a role and in conjunction with each other. I did enjoy the universal lessons mentioned in the text, such as the need to recognize the presence of cycles in nature and life and to accept change as a part of life. An excellent book for introducing children to the seasons in general and specifically the Sioux view of the seasons. Also good for introducing the concepts of change and cycles.
