Customer Reviews:
Very Helpful.......2007-08-23
Fine Art Publicity has some very good ideas about marketing and publicity. We just opened an art gallery, and have already had a few articles published in local newspapers thanks to the suggestions in this book.
Book will be a great help.......2005-09-16
I am writing a business plan to open an art gallery.
Even though I already know how to market service businesses,
I need to learn a lot about marketing an art gallery. I
found a trove of very good advice in this book. I appreciate
the easy layout and readability also. I expect anyone
with an art business can find ideas here.
A 'must' for aspiring artists and gallery owners alike.......2005-06-10
The majority of art career guides come from either career counselors or artists themselves, so it's refreshing to note that Fine Art Publicity: The Complete Guide For Galleries And Artists, appearing in its second updated edition, is written by an industry publicist backed by the knowledge of her profession. Galleries and artists receive the basics of marketing to the art community; from researching a media list for both local and national contacts to locating businesses connected to the arts, and gathering a library of samples for targeted publicity contacts. Simply an outstanding reference; a 'must' for aspiring artists and gallery owners alike.
This book is great.......2003-09-06
I dont usually write reviews, but I completely disagree with the bad review on here. This is an incredibly useful book for art galleries. I can't express how helpful this book has been to me. This is a guide for galleries not artists, so maybe that's why the last reader had issues.
Search Elsewhere.......2002-12-12
I buy alot of books but I have never before seen a book written for an adult audience spread so thinly over so many pages. I suppose this was done to try to create the illusion of there being more information here than there really is. What little useful information this book contians seems to be repeated over and over. I would guess again to fill pages. I feel there is virtually no practical information here for an artist and very little for a gallery. I usually don't have an interest in writing book reviews but I was so disappointed in this book that I wanted to alert others to search elsewhere for useful information.

Simple and Direct Help.......2006-09-14
Tad Crawford has written a whole series of books out of his expertise in the law and creative arts, with a special focus on photography. I'd suggest looking at Tad's other books, too, since this one is more action-focused without extensive explanations of the whys and wherefores of it.
"Business and Legal Forms" has the documents you'll need, such as copyright transer forms, publishing contracts and stock listing forms for your creative work. His descriptions are very helpful. Of greatest practical use, though, is the included DVD containing MS Word documents of all of the forms.
If you're just getting started in fine arts, or even if you have been working a while, you need this book!
Business and Legal Forms for Fine Artists.......2006-03-24
Very well organized and comprehensive. DVD provided makes printing a breeze.

Great Reference Guide.......2004-11-22
Even if you have the luxury of an attorney that speicalizes in art contracts, as I do, this is a great book of forms to keep handy for quick reference. My advice is to get it with his other book: Legal Guide for the Visual Artist also by Tad Crawford

Customer Reviews:
Good general overview.......2005-02-08
This book would be great for any highschool students considering what/where to study for university or college. It provided more information about art in the United States more so than Canada.
Overall, I thought the information the book provided was very brief towards what a career actually entails. It did go more in depth however, with real life examples of someone in the business, and provided good sources if you want to look into what schools offer such programs to lead to that specific career.
I would consider the actual careers very general knowledge -- unfortunately it was nothing I didn't know before I had purchased this book. However, it may be helpful to someone who is clueless about the art world.
In the end, it was an okay book; I dont regret the purchse.

Book Description
Selen is a famous, real-life European with a drop-dead gorgeous body to die for and insatiable appetite for sex.
Customer Reviews:
2nd in the series. An interesting little shallow book.......2005-04-11
Full-color Adult graphic novel. Based on Italian porn star Selen.
This relatively short full-color graphic novel involves Selen, her husband (Fabio) and their rather open relationship and some scenes from their life.
Scene 1: The book opens with the husband on the phone with another woman (Francesca), letting her know that he won't go out with her unless she doesn't "wear any underwear and shave." The husband leaves after asking if Selen wants to go with him, and her refusal, and picks up a young woman. The young woman is wearing a short skirt, and when sits in the car, it is obvious that she followed Fabio's orders. Fabio and Francesca play around in the car, and outside the car in the driving rain.
When Fabio arrives back home, Selen, wearing next to nothing, tries to start something up with Fabio, but he is starting to feel ill, and turns in.
Scene 2 (immediately following scene 1): It's the next morning, Fabio is ill, and Francesca stops by the front door. Selen answers the door wearing a transparent top and nothing else. Francesca is wearing a short shirt and a jacket and no underwear (panties/bra).
Francesca tries to tempt Fabio, but he is too ill. "Half an hour later." Selen and Francesca are in bed on either side of the ill Fabio, both women are nude (well almost, apparently Selen had been wearing something other than a transparent top after all). While the man is otherwise preoccupied with being ill, the relatively large breasted blonde and rather flat-chested brunette decide to play with each other. At some point, Selen ends up begging Francesca to whip her (which she obliges; I really can't stress enough how flat-chested Francesca is). This scene continues, with a voyeur adding his perspective to the fun.
Scene 3: "Six months Later" Selen and Fabio have just moved, and its Selen's birthday. They hold a party with many guests, including Francesca, and Selen has to perform several tasks to receive her gifts (including running naked through the street to ring a neighbor's doorbell.
Scene 4: The "real-world" intrudes, and the real Selen and the artist talk.
The book is well-drawn, nothing is censored, and there is little plot. The book contains exhibitism, whipping, voyeurism, open marriages . . . An interesting little shallow book.

Product Description
A brand new edition of this internationally acclaimed classic snare drum method with play along CD. This reengraved comprehensive and musical beginning through intermediate level method includes reading studies, duets, stick control exercises, multiple drum studies, rudiments and student composition assignments.
Book Description
This theoretical and empirical study examines the influence of global institutions on the generation of scientific knowledge. Virginia Walsh's approach reverses the traditional focus of international relations literature--which most often deals with how scientific knowledge influences institutions--and offers an original way to look at international environmental governance. After proposing a theory of institutional mechanisms by which global institutions shape the generation of knowledge, the book turns to detailed case studies of two institutions in the under- studied but vital area of marine science, the Scripps Institute of Oceanography and the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission, to illustrate these mechanisms.
In part 1, "Theory," the book identifies three specific mechanisms or "fixes" that provide the means by which institutions shape the generation and use of knowledge. With the positional fix, key individuals use their social roles or positions in an institution to influence the beliefs of members or fix the direction of research. The statutory fix occurs when beliefs gain acceptance as a consequence of being embedded in rules or treaties. The committee fix is illustrated in the regularized practices through which social groups accept statements as group beliefs. Part 2, "Evidence," shows these mechanisms at work in the two case studies. The Scripps Institution, for example, illustrates the positional fix, as successive directors used their position to frame research. The Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission, on the other hand, exemplifies both the statutory fix and the committee fix in its regulatory actions.

Straightforward and helpful advice.......2001-10-05
Like the previous reviewer, I had not spent a lot of time reading about how to interact with and care for my new baby -- until I picked up this book. I like the author's straightforward descriptions of what to expect when in the hospital and home from the hospital for the first few days and weeks. Dr. Paula walks the reader through a number of issues including feeding, bathing, sleeping and making the transition back to work after the baby is born. The text is interspersed with web site addresses if you need more information on a subject. Finally, the thing I like best about this book is that it is not overly negative in tone like some of the other parenting books I have read. As a first time mom, I consider this an invaluable reference book.

When I was pregnant with my first child I spent most of my free time reading about being pregnant. Then I had a baby and realized I hadn't read ANYTHING about being a Mom! Having been a frightened new mother, I was and still am full of questions. To know that I can always turn to this book is a Godsend. Dr.Paula writes like she is talking to me as a person and a friend. I believe that she is a genuine credit to her profession and to all children everywhere. IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS EXPECTING THEN YOU HAVE TO GET THIS BOOK! If you only buy one book about newborns-this is the one to buy.

Book Description
This first English translation of the training manual used before and during World War II provides a rare glimpse into the actual operating procedures of the Gestapo, SS and Waffen-SS Â- procedures until now virtually undocumented. Part I covers police training; Part II describes paramilitary operations in open terrain; Part III details urban police operations during peace and war times.
Book Description
A fundamental, but mostly hidden, transformation is happening in the way public services are being delivered, and in the way local and national governments fulfill their policy goals. Government executives are redefining their core responsibilities away from managing workers and providing services directly to orchestrating networks of public, private, and nonprofit organizations to deliver the services that government once did itself. Authors Stephen Goldsmith and William D. Eggers call this new model "governing by network" and maintain that the new approach is a dramatically different type of endeavor that simply managing divisions of employees.
Like any changes of such magnitude, it poses major challenges for those in charge. Faced by a web of relationships and partnerships that increasingly make up modern governance, public managers must grapple with skill-set issues (managing a contract to capture value); technology issues (incompatible information systems); communications issues (one partner in the network, for example, might possess more information than another); and cultural issues (how interplay among varied public, private, and nonprofit sector cultures can create unproductive dissonance).
Governing by Network examines for the first time how managers on both sides of the aisle, public and private, are coping with the changes. Drawing from dozens of case studies, as well as established best practices, the authors tell us what works and what doesn't. Here is a clear roadmap for actually governing the networked state for elected officials, business executives, and the broader public.
Customer Reviews:
More Lazy Thinking About Government.......2006-12-14
The "run government like a business" mantra has become so simplified in the minds of most people that it basically means, "if you want something done right, hand it over to private enterprise." This book is one more symptom of such lazy thinking. While the authors include some helpful insights about how governments can deliver services without being the primary provider, their underlying assumption is that all government is hidebound, inefficient, and boorish. Contrasting this is the innovative, public-spirited private sector--the answer to the world's ills, if only Neanderthal government would get out of the way.
It would be interesting to turn the concept on its head: let's run business like a government. Let corporate America open all of its records--including emails and even voice mail--to any person who wants it; let them go to the people every four years and ask them to evaluate their record of adding value; let them function without expense accounts, with secondhand furniture in dismal settings, without gyms or Business Class; and let them try to achieve long-range goals with a board that thinks in four year increments and whose every action is dissected daily in the opinion pages of the local newspaper.
The simple fact is that there are some things the government ought to be doing because private enterprise cannot do it at a profit. Americans have come to believe that every tax is a bad tax when, in fact, government services account for much of what Americans value in life. Unfortunately, this book simply feeds that sloppy mentality.
great foundation.......2006-07-14
this book provides a great foundation for those interested in the networking of private, public, and non-profit sectors. great examples are included in the book, and it is relatively easy to use. Great book!
The Public Private Business Connection.......2006-01-16
The average citizen may not notice it, but government is rapidly changing. Nongovernment workers are now delivering services that the government used to deliver as recently as a decade ago. As public policy specialists, authors Stephen Goldsmith and William Eggers know this area well. Their book is full of dense organizational descriptions, which come to life only when they use real-world examples. Fortunately, they do so often, presenting interesting facts and case studies. Still, this book is intended for serious students of public policy and government. Numerous checklists bog it down and may not be practical to use. We recommend it to public officials, policy-makers and citizens who want to understand trends in government and the ways that governing by network is changing the political scene.
Governing by Network: The New Shape of the Public Sector.......2005-08-02
Very fast delivery. Wonderful seller.
Clearly outlines what works in a networked state.......2005-03-14
Written by former politician Stephen Goldsmith and global director of Deloitte Research, Public Sector William D. Eggers, Governing by Network: The New Shape of the Public Sector exposes a largely hidden but nonetheless monumental transformation in the manner that public services are delivered and local and national governments fulfill their policy goals. Dubbed "governing by network", it presents great challenges to those in charge: skill-set issues (managing a contract to capture value); technology issues (keeping information systems compatible with one another); communications issues; cultural issues (including differences between public, private and nonprofit sector cultures) and much more. Governing by Network clearly outlines what works in a networked state and what is a recipe for failure, using case studies as well as firmly established practices. Chapters focus on achieving the goals of efficiency and effectiveness in the constantly changing and increasingly technological 21st century. Governing by Network is especially recommended for political leaders, political science teachers, political science students, and school library collections for its invaluable contribution to observing dramatic shifts in leadership and day-to-day practice requirements.
