This book may impress many people because of its psycho-lingo, its New Age palaver, and its abundance of second person pronouns. There is a 12-week program to follow, but that is probably for the author's desire to become a cult leader and the readers' desire to become cult followers.

But if you want to learn something you don't already know, you might be disappointed. The message of the book, in fifty words or less, is to resist any friends, relatives, or guilty feelings which tell you that creative pursuit is a waste of time.

That is nothing new. A Transactional Analyst might say the same thing, using the terms Parent and Child. A Freudian might say the same thing, using the terms superego and id.

This book was fun to read. Written in an upbeat fashion primarily for young people contemplating working in the movie industry in production-related jobs, the book describes these jobs in a direct and breezy way, taking care to define the terms I noted in the title of this review (and many others). So the book also can be interesting to anyone who has a general interest in movies, movie making, and the movie business.

I was especially impressed about the job descriptions in the "special effects" area because the techniques themselves are also described, adding to my knowledge of them.

This book was started and finished in one day. A very easy read full of good information on a lot of film career types. I was disappointed in the book, however, because I was hoping (as per the review) for a basic pay scale on each job, but only a couple even mentioned it. It was slightly upsetting, but was an okay worth while read.

Great for anyone interested in movies.......2004-02-21

When you're looking for a way into what you know will be a competitive career, it's good to know there's so many options available. With this book, I was able to line up my background to find the right point of entry. Additionally, it really helped with learning all the jargon of the film industry. It gives you a real insiders feel. The writing breezes along with humor, insight and lots of practical advice. I'm always buying copies for my friends and I go back to it often just to refresh.

The Most helpful book I have ever read.......2001-01-16

This is a great book for anyone who wants to learn about all the jobs that are found on a film set. It gave me more options and helped me find what job is right for me. It helped me realize that you can start small and end big, and I recomend it to everyone.

An awesome reference and fun to read........1999-10-29

When I first read the book, I was in my last year of college and didn't know which directions to head towards the career I wanted in film. I found many books, but this one definitely stood out form the others. It gave me a list of every career opportunity in the film business and how to get started. I am now working my way up the ladder to a successful career. I highly recommend this to every one that expects to achieve their goals in film.

Don't Even Think About It!!!!!.......2006-03-24

If you're looking for the complete, unedited, honest truth about the Ramones, please get "On the Road with the Ramones" by Monte A. Melnick instead. I'm telling you, it's as accurate and can't-put-it-down as can be - considering it's written by the band's own tour manager. You will not be disappointed by it! With this book however, after reading "On the Road With the Ramones," I noticed a plethora of errors about the band. How disappointing...

I have to say that I loved this book because almost every page held a brand new fact that I did not know about The Ramones. I'm a huge a Ramones fan. They're my favorite band, so this was definitely one of my favorite books.
This book is about the Ramones. The good times, the bad times. How they felt about different things, every single one of their studio/live albums, their new and old band members. About before they were in the Ramones, during then time they where in it, and after the band departed.
I think some one who would like this book is a Ramones fan some one who really likes them. Because it is all about the Ramones and their complete twisted history.

Ever heard of a fact checker? An editor? An AWFUL book........2005-01-26

The title of this book gets it half right. It is by no means a complete history, but it is indeed twisted...if twisting the facts counts. There are TONS of factual errors in this book, including the author's assertion that the Ramones, unable to pass up a good payday, continued to tour AFTER their last show in August 1996. Even if the author had no particular knowledge of his subject matter (which he apparently doesn't), couldn't he have used a fact checker? I'm sorry, but this is a really, really, really bad book.

Solid as far as I can tell.......2005-01-17

I read this book back-to back with Bessman's book, "Ramones: An American band." This book may or may not have some factual errors, I don't know; and he did borrow from other books like Bessman's. But the 1-star reviews here seem overly harsh to me. This book is certainly more objective and less unflinching than Bessman's very fannish book.

One thing I took home from this that I've missed from other sources was Dee Dee's pervasive influence on the band's songwriting and the essential complexity of this apparently simple person. Take this quote from Roberta Bayley:

"Dee Dee was very creative and very unhappy but he was like a child in his desire to please and his desire to shock..."

Indeed.

I haven't yet read Melnick's book, but for a book devoted entirely to the Ramones, I would recommend this book over Bessman's anytime. Neither is as good as McNeil's "Please kill me," although that book covers a lot more than just the Ramones.

It was nice to have some over view maps of the caves and castles. It help prevent the access use of potions and death of party members at early levels.

Most helpful book ever!.......2004-11-24

This is the most helpful book ever. It has maps, stats for characters and bosses and the eastiest way to beat them. The book tells you what is in each chest if they're guarded and by what. And it has what monster you'll find in certain areas and there stats. It show all the wepons armor and items and their ablities. This book is great. I used it after i beat both and i was amazed at some of the things i missed or did wrong. Personnally though i'd rather spend more time on the game and find the stuff without help it just more fun that way. But when it comesd to strategy guides this is a the top!

OH MY GOD, THIS BOOK IS MAD USEFUL!.......2004-01-28

Wow, this book's got everything! Bestiary, secret items, boss strategies, everything. If you seriously are having trouble, get this guide. You won't be sorry, you'll be like " Wow this thing DOES have EVERYTHING!"

I was VERY impressed with this guide when I bought it the other day and I have to say that it's helped me cover alot of material. I had already beaten FF1, but FF2 was probably the hardest for me to complete alone and I'm sure that this is the same for everone else who's played it as it is said to be the HARDEST one in the FF franchise! Without it, I probably wouldn't have gotten as far as I thought. The guide covers both games and includes info on magic, dungeons, Boss strategies etc. and just about anything else you'd expect to know from a Final Fantasy game. And well, thanks to an excellent walkthrough through FF2, I finally beat both games with just about everything covered. (except for 'Normal' mode in FF1)

OVERALL: I give it a 10/10! Excellent coverage for both games and a nice way to get through the hardest dungeons in case you get lost. I HIGHLY recommend this book if you are having trouble getting through either game because it will REALLY REALLY help! Never have I seen strategy this good in a long time! BRADYGAMES is the BEST co. to offer these, so I say BUY TODAY!!! You won't regret it! ^_^

Awesome little book!.......2007-01-22

I wanted alternatives to teaching my babies to sleep on their own. I didn't like the Cry-it-out method. I didn't like going in every 5/10/15 minutes to soothe them. So, I tried the No Cry Sleep Solution. I liked the idea behind it, but it sure wasn't taking as little as 2 weeks, like suggested. Then, I tried THIS little gem. It's peppered with adorable illustrations and great tips. It's not a huge book, but just long enough to convey it's messages. Especially to an exhausted parent who doesn't want to take a lot of time to read a long-winded book. I LOVED this method of teaching my kids to sleep alone and self-soothe. I now have a 3 1/2 year old and a 2 year old, both of whom have been sleeping through the night since before they were 1 year old. Thank you Charlotte Preston!

An eye-opening introduction to environmental issues........2000-04-11

This collection of more than 55 excerpts not only offers an introduction to the environmental issues currently affecting our world (e.g., pesticides and pollution, growth, overpopulation, third-world poverty, and consumerism, among others), but also provides an excellent introduction to the classic writings of numerous contributors including Rachel Carson, E. F. Schumacher, Fritjof Capra, Ed Abbey, and Aldo Leopold, among others. Although writer Thomas Berry is unfortunately absent from this collection, and the selections are short (3 to 5 pages each), this book should nevertheless be considered a good starting place to get one's feet wet in the green debate. Then, if wet feet aren't enough, I would recommend the recent "Dharma Rain" (2000) collection of environmental essays from a buddhist perspective.
