Book Description
You've gotta learn to defend yourself. Never let your enemy know what you are feeling.
-- The soldier assigned to protect Melba
Please, God, let me learn how to stop being a warrior. Sometimes I just need to be a girl.
-- Melba's diary, on her sixteenth birthday
In 1957 Melba Pattillo turned sixteen. That was also the year she became a warrior on the front lines of a civil rights firestorm. Following the landmark 1954 Supreme Court ruling, Brown v. Board Education, she was one of nine teenagers chosen to integrate Little Rock's Central High School. This is her remarkable story.
You will listen to the cruel taunts of her schoolmates and their parents. You will run with her from the threat of a lynch mob's rope. You will share her terror as she dodges lighted sticks of dynamite, and her pain as she washes away the acid sprayed into her eyes. But most of all you will share Melba's dignity and courage as she refuses to back down.

I T CAME TO PASS.......2007-08-13
sO MUCH OUR RACE OF PEOPLE HAVE BEEN THROUGH , AND THE BOOK TELLS A LOT OF THE TRIUMPHS WE WENT THROUGH, AND STILL SOME OF THOSE THINGS STILL ARE GOING ON TODAy. So the title it came to pass is the right title because god said in his word nothing but the rightous.
Repetition Galore.......2007-07-05
Melba Pattillo Beals' "Warriors Don't Cry" was amateur at best. While the purpose of the memoir is inspiring, Beals just appeared to be a broken record.
Upon reading other reviews, I thought this memoir was going to be heartbreaking and inspiring. Yet as I began to read, a pattern developed. The book dragged on and on yet there seemed to be no progression. I found myself void of emotion throughout the whole recount. Needless to say, this was a disappointment, and extremely poorly written.
Warriors Don't Cry.......2007-06-27
We are coming up on the 50th anniversary of the integration of Central High in Little Rock. This book is written by one of the courageous students who braved a racist mob to claim the equality and justice we are all promised in a democracy. The photographs of one student, Elizabeth Eckford, facing the abusive and threatening crowds became iconic, part of history and public memory. What is not as well known is what life was like for the nine students inside the school everyday. Everyday they were threatened, physically attacked, suffered abusive language and attitudes from the white, segregationist students. The author, Melba Patillo Beals, is an extraordinary writer, storyteller and she is blazingly honest. As a way of celebrating July 4th, read this book and give it to every young person over the age of 10 that you know.
"With All Deliberate Speed . . .".......2007-05-15
Melba Joy Pattillo Beals was at the heart of a vortex of history as one of the "Little Rock Nine" who integrated Arkansas' preeminent public school in 1957. In the wake of the landmark 1954 Supreme Court decision, "Brown v. Board of Education," schools throughout the United States were ordered to integrate "with all deliberate speed."
Violent opposition to the integration of Central High led to the garrisoning of Little Rock by the 101st Airborne Division, the first (and thus far only) active-engagement use of Federal troops in the South since Reconstruction.
Ms. Beals (now a journalist) has a journalist's eye as she recalls her experiences at Central High that year. Drawing on her memories and on the copious and detailed diaries she kept, Ms. Beals puts us right into her well-shined saddle shoes, and right into the halls of Central.
At first glance, Melba Pattillo would have seemed to be the wrong sort of person to be on the front lines of the Civil Rights Movement. At fifteen, she was a girl given to romantic daydreams, a girl seemingly perfectly content to listen to Buddy Holly on the radio while cuddling with her stuffed animal collection amidst her flouncy white comforter and matching pillows.
But deep inside, Melba Pattillo had a core of steel. Her mother held an advanced degree in Education, and her gentle, stern, and unyielding Grandmother India had an unshakeable faith both in God, and in Melba, a faith which she transmitted almost by osmosis to her granddaughter---"God's warriors don't cry, child."
If other members of Melba's family and community did not share these ideas, ideals, and values, at least they all understood that this remarkable young lady (and her eight fellow classmates) was doing something that needed to be done, something that portended a sea change in the world.
But for all the fine rhetoric, life at Central was a hell of crowded corridors, shadowy stairwells, and constant terror. From day one, avowed segregationists in the school, in the community, and in the government (including Governor Orval Faubus) tried to break the back of the integration by means foul and fouler. Adult members of Little Rock's White Citizens Council educated their charges at Central in the ways and means of torture.
Anyone stunned by the constant reports of current-day "violence in our schools" will be shattered by Ms. Beals' seemingly endless recitation of the horrors inflicted upon the Little Rock Nine in the halls of Central High. Being cursed at, spat upon, and called a "N****r" was nothing much; open threats with weapons, violent beatings and stompings, stabbings, scaldings with near-boiling hot water, dousings with unspeakable liquids, strangulations, attempts at immolation, and acid sprays in the eyes were commonplace. These were not just hurtful acts. They were often life-threatening, and the passivity (or even gleeful acquiescence) of most of the CHS school officials in the face of such ongoing abuse of these children put in their care is enough to enrage the reader.
The lack of direct adult interest in what the Little Rock Nine were going through is paralyzing to consider. Little was done to protect them, even by their supporters. The 101st was pulled out of Little Rock in a deal brokered by Beltway Bandits, and what was actually happening to the Little Rock Nine was abstract to the politicians. The price these nine black teens paid for our freedom is beyond valuation.
And if the constancy of the violence portrayed in the telling of the tale somewhat blunts the reader's emotions after a time, it is harder to feel blunted when Melba Beals talks about the wrenching changes that went on within herself. Her fame (or notoriety among segregationists) meant that her home became a fortress-prison from which she could rarely escape. Drive-by shootings and bomb threats kept most of the lifelong friends she had made among "our people" (as she calls the blacks in her community) far away, and she was not invited to parties and outings. Holidays passed without the usual gaggle of friends and relations. The sad retelling of her unattended Sweet Sixteen Party is a heartbreaking moment in time, and her sorrow still reaches across the years to touch the reader.
But there are the finer moments as well: Every day spent at Central is at the end a day of victory; her meetings with remarkable men such as Thurgood Marshall are treasured moments in her life; her gratitude to the brave men of the 101st Airborne and the task they undertook to uphold the law of the land just so a girl could go to school where she chose, is inspiring; her first few tentative friendships with some white Central High students gives us cause for hope. Melba Pattillo traded her childhood for adulthood too soon, and her innocence for a hard-honed survival instinct by force.
We live in a far different society today, and in part that is due to Melba Beals. We can thank whatever Spirit moves us that she was given the talent to write this incredible memoir. This is an essential read.
Very good book.......2007-03-30
I loved this book. It was very sad to hear about all the hardships that the 9 students had to endure to integrate Central High. I think it made them better people and I feel sorry that they had to go through those things. The description used by Melba Pattillo Beals was excellent and very useful when you were trying to get a feel for how they felt. You almost felt as if you were there with them and were going through the same things. I would definetly recommend this book to other readers. I would avise that the reader be a little bit older so that they can understand the things that the blacks were going through. Other than being a harsh book because of the things that needed to be describe it was an amazing book.
Book Description
Summer is a distant memory. Thanksgiving has come
and gone. Hunting season is in full swing on the Vineyard . . .
And some of the prey is human.
Ex-cop, chef, and dedicated angler J.W. Jackson would do anything for his old 'Nam buddy and fishing companion Joe Begay. But when Joe asks to be smuggled back onto the Vineyard in secret, J.W. knows there's big trouble brewing. After his tour of duty officially ended, Joe was involved in highly sensitive covert government work. Now only Begay and one other former operative on his team -- the seductive and extremely dangerous Kate MacLeod -- are still alive. The three remaining shadow warriors died unexpectedly, quite possibly at the hands of a ruthlessly efficient killer known only as the Easter Bunny. J.W.'s beloved wife, Zee, and their two young children could easily get caught in the deadly crossfire if the assassin makes his way to their now desolate island. Or perhaps he -- or she -- is already there . . .

outstanding spy drama.......2007-04-28
The spooks from the intelligence community descend upon a winter Martha's Vineyard and put J.W. and his family in a bit of jeopardy, as he is trying to help his old Vietnam buddy, Joe Begay. A sinister terrorist known as "the Easter bunny" seems to be after Begay and one of his spooky associates. J.W. is dodging bullets and bombs in this excellent story. I was very impressed with the research the author did to make this story exciting.
A good read.......2006-07-03
December on Martha's Vineyard means more than holiday preparation. It means deer hunting season. A killer can hardly pick a better time to commit murder than during hunting season when people don orange clothing and walk around openly carrying guns.
So it is in the sixteenth mystery in the series Craig set in his home of Martha's Vineyard. Retired cop J. W. Jackson is visited by old-army-buddy-turned-covert-operations-guy Joe Begay. Begay shares enough of his past with Jackson to tap Jackson's curiosity--and get Jackson's help--in confronting a killer from Begay's past.
Begay is one of five on a secret team who worked together, but three of the five die within a short time. Suspecting he and the remaining member of the team, the man-hungry Kate MacLeod, are next in the killer's murder plans, Begay sends his family away, gets Jackson to help him bait the killer, then waits for the killer to appear.
MacLeod shows up at Begay's door instead, and the plot's twists and turns begin as Craig takes us down one possible road only to switch us to a more plausible path, then to an even more probable trail on our way to discovering the killer.
As you make the journey, you'll be comparing notes with local law enforcement, the FBI, the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency), and J. W. to figure this one out. As if that isn't entertainment enough, you'll also enjoy the humor the author slips in. Even more good news is you don't have to have read the first fifteen in this series to like this one.
Armchair Interviews says: Prolific author Philip Craig does it again, and we are the lucky readers who benefit.
annoying page turner.......2005-09-28
This book is annoyingly bad written, but it keeps you turning pages.
Visit from the Easter Bunny.......2005-05-31
Most of Philip Craig's Martha's Vineyard Mysteries take place in the warmer months, but in a change of pace, this one takes place in December. Just as J.W. Jackson and his family are contemplating the Christmas season, J.W. receives a visit from his old Army buddy Joe Begay, who needs some help. He wants to be picked up on Cape Cod and brought back to Martha's Vineyard without anyone seeing him. J.W. agrees to the task, without understanding why. Joe explains to him that he once did an undercover government job with a team of five people. Three of the team members have died and he is afraid that he may be next, a potential target for an assassin whose nickname is Easter Bunny. Things become even more complicated when the fifth member of the team, a woman named Kate, shows up on the Island, and there are now two people to protect. Author Craig spins a good yarn, complete with a car chase, explosions, and undercover intrigue. This is a welcome addition to the Martha's Vineyard series.
exciting and fun mystery.......2005-05-25
J.W. Jackson moved his family to Martha's Vineyard to get away from big city life and crime although at times the island resembles the mean city streets. As an ex-city policeman, Jackson takes care of himself which is why Joe Begay, his sergeant when they served in Vietnam, comes to him when he needs help. Jackson smuggles Joe back onto the island after he leaves it and meets up with him at a designated place in Cape Cod.
Joe works for one of the black ops organization and he and five other members of a trade delegation were able to kill two terrorists code named Rudolph and Scarecrow. The Easter Bunny got away and since that mission three of the group has been killed. Begay believes the Easter Bunny is coming after him and Kate, the other surviving member of the mission. Kate left her home after finding poisoned needles on pillows in her home. She came to Martha Vineyard's to work with Joe in taking the Easter Bunny down. Unfortunately Jackson becomes involved in their mission because the killer has linked him to Kate and Joe, putting all three of their lives in danger
VINEYARD PREY is an exciting and fun reading experience because the protagonist keeps getting pulled into a situation that he really wants no part of all the while protesting. He is happy to stay out of the fiasco and just go on with his life. Phillip K. Craig's latest work is more action-packed than usual and it is so easy to become absorbed in the plot that the everyday world fades away.

Dubbed the "Bard of America's Bird-Watchers" by the
Wall Street Journal, Pete Dunne knows birders and birdinginstinctively and completely. He understands the compulsion that drives other birders to go out at first light, whatever the weather, for a chance to maybe, just maybe, glimpse that rare migrant that someone might have spotted in a patch of woods the day before yesterday. And yet, he also knows how . . . well . . . strange the birding obsession becomes when viewed through the eyes of a nonbirder. His dual perspectivetotally engrossed in birding, yet still aware of the "odd birdness" of some birdersmakes reading his essays a pure pleasure whether you pursue "the feather quest" or not.
This book collects forty-one of Dunne's recent essays, drawn from his columns in Living Bird, Wild Bird News, the New Jersey Sunday section of the
New York Times, Birder's World, and other publications. Written with his signature wit and insight, they cover everything from a moment of awed communion with a Wandering Albatross ("the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen") to Dunne's imagined "perfect bird" ("The Perfect Bird is the size of a turkey, has the wingspan of an eagle, the legs of a crane, the feet of a moorhen, and the talons of a great horned owl. It eats kudzu, surplus zucchini, feral cats, and has been known to predate upon homeowners who fire up their lawn mowers before 7:00 A.M. on the weekend."). The title essay pays whimsical, yet heartfelt tribute to Dunne's mentor, the late birding legend Roger Tory Peterson.

Joyce Vedral promises you can strengthen and shape your body and build bone in only 16 minutes a day with this illustrated program. This author of numerous exercise and health books (including Eating to Trim and Weight Training Made Easy) and frequent talk-show guest offers basic exercises that purport to work every major muscle group effectively. All of the exercises are compiled into handy pullout charts for quick reference, and dozens of photographs show Vedral's sleek and sculpted 54-year-old body illustrating the maneuvers. In addition to the program, you'll find plenty of solid information about building muscle and bone.
Vedral relies on research indicating that working out with weights aids in building bone density. However, some strength-training experts would advise women to work out with heavier weights if they are strong enough to handle them, rather than the one- to three-pound weights Vedral recommends for her beginners' program. She does say you should raise the heft of your weights when the program becomes easy, so don't miss this point with her emphasis on light weights.
If you're a young woman, Bone-Building Body-Shaping Workout is not only for your mother: according to Vedral, weight training helps you put "bone in the bank" so that you have more to draw from decades from now, and it will increase your fat-burning rate. --Joan Price
Book Description
Women need extra-strong bones at every age -- from adolescence, through pregnancy, and especially after menopause. All you need is
8 minutes a day four days a week, or
16 minutes a day two days a week -- to achieve a strong, sexy, shapely body while you build protective muscles and denser bones.
Vedral's groundbreaking program includes:
* Easy-to-follow strengthening exercises for the most vulnerable body parts
* Safe and simple body-shaping exercises to tone, slim, and beautify your entire body
* Targeted muscle- and bone-strengthening exercises to guard against injury for dozens of sports -- including tennis, skiing, running, bicycling, dancing, and golf

* Handy 6-page cutout wall chart to make exercising even easier!

Great routine .......2007-05-04
This is a great routine and the book is an easy-read that I found quite motivating. I was a bit discouraged, however, when I discovered how long the exercises actually take. It takes me 30 minutes to complete the "8-minute" routines. I would have actually felt more motivated had I been more adequately prepared to allow for the necessary time. That said, I commend Joyce for this book, which also includes a chapter on diet and a chapter on aerobic exercise. I am very encouraged that I may be able to prevent osteoporosis, and am recommending this book to my mom, who was recently diagnosed.
Easy-to-read book with a good workout, and eating advice........2006-05-09
This workout is great, although you may want to do ALL the designated warm-up exercises at the beginning of the workout, in order to avoid wasting time picking up and putting down the dumbbells between sections. If you do this I think it would be much easier to get the workout time down to where the book claims it should be.
I own The 12-Minute Total Body Workout book, and in one respect, this book is better in that it contains a photo chart of all the exercises involved, which "12-Minute" does NOT have. I recommend that you buy a copy of this book, make a copy of the chart, then cut it up and paste each exercise onto index cards, so that you can mix up the order of the exercises every few weeks or so, as well as putting the warmups at the beginning of the workout.
Both books are great.
Great Workout ...but you need more time.......2005-03-08
I bought this book because I have the 12-minute Total Body Workout by Vedral and I wanted to see if she had updated her excercises. I was very pleased with this book, the exercises are easy to learn and they work! However, there is no way you can do it in 8 minutes a day without sacrificing proper movement and form. Plan on spending between 15 and 20 minutes per day for four days, 30-40 minutes per day for two days, or about 1 1/2 hours for one day. In the 12-Minute book, you did 2 body parts, 2 exercises each, for 3 reps. In this book, it's 3 body parts, at least 3 exercises each, 3 reps each plus stretching. How on earth did she think you could do it in 8 minutes?
highly recommended .......2004-10-13
I bought the hardcover edition of this book used from Amazon and am very pleased with it. This is a very readable book, with most things clearly explained. When I say 'most', I mean that I still have questions as to WHY the pyramid method works better than other methods, and I also think it should be explained WHY the exact order of the workout matters (by body part, not by specific individual exercises within a body-part group). I am confused too because other books say to constantly vary your routine or to even change it completely every other week, where-as this book says that you must follow this exact routine every time. Aside from those points of confusion, the explanatory material is quite good. The work-out itself is excellent, and well suited to the woman who prefers a good at-home dumb-bell workout. Joyce must have the routine memorized, and do it without any rest periods at super-speed in order to finish within the time she says it will take. I have the extra time to put into it, so that is not a problem. If your goal is to build bone to prevent osteoporosis, this is a great program, or even if you just want to have a nice dumb-bell routine to build strength and re-shape, I also recommend it.
Joyces Workouts work, but save your money..........2004-05-01
Joyce Vedrals workouts work, but dont waste your money buying anything from her. why do I say that? because her customer service stinks. these days she has videos and DVD's out as well.. dont buy them! poorly made: she skips sets, reps, etc.. on one video, she actually passes gas and then hopes nobody notices. Um, when I pay alot of money for a video, I really dont want to see and hear the instructor fart. wanna do Joyces workouts? good. do them, BUT.. if you want her books, buy them USED on EBay or Half.com, or even better, check them out from your local library and photo copy the pages, and then write the routine down on index cards. if you feel compelled to buy her videos, again, GO USED on EBay.

What gives Mediterranean food its characteristic savor? Olives, anchovies, and capers, asserts Georgeanne Brennan, whose eponymous book explores these fundamental ingredients as "secret" dish enhancers. Add chopped green olives to dishes like Almond Couscous with Carrot and Cumin Chicken, for example, and the subtle sweetness of the dish is delightfully complemented; anchovies do similar wonders in a potato salad with tuna; and capers add depth and nuance to a lamb stew with tomatoes and sweet peppers. The book explores the unique power of these humble ingredients, providing over 50 simple recipes that utilize the title ingredients to add flavor, or that feature them in delightful ways. Cooks at all skill levels should find the book a welcome key to a much-beloved culinary repertoire.
Beginning with short essays that explore the characteristics of olives, anchovies, and capers, and also providing instructions for home-curing (you may never put up olives or anchovies, but it's fascinating to know how it's done), the book then offers recipes in chapters devoted to appetizers and salads; main dishes and spreads; sauces and breads. There are many treasures, including Penne Salad with Three Herbs, Capers, and Tuna; Omelet of Tomatoes and Black Olives with Gorgonzola; and Roast Chicken with Mustard Anchovy Crust. Small in size, but not in the wealth of its information or fine taste, and illustrated with color photos throughout, Olives, Anchovies, and Capers brings the flavors of the Mediterranean home in new and exciting ways. --Arthur Boehm

Enhanced by vibrant color photography, Brennan reveals the basic techniques for salting, brining, curing, and seasoning these delicacies and also explores their history and common uses. Short, simple, easy, & delicious.......2003-10-01
The recipes are simple and delicious. If you're an amatuer like me, you'll appreciate the simplicity and beauty of these recipes. You can plan a multi-course meal from this book.
The book is sturdily bound and well indexed. It's small enough that it doesn't get in the way sitting on a kitchen shelf. It's beautifully photographed (over 2 dozen photos). The first 30-or-so pages discuss the production and nature of the basic ingredients (olives, anchovies, and capers). Then there are 3 sections: appetizers and salads; main dishes; and spreads, sauces, and breads. There is a metric/English unit conversion table at the back of the book. Most of the ingredients are available at any fine market; nevertheless, the book also includes a list of sources for exotica.
Book Description
This beautifully illustrated new edition contains over 600 color photographs and an instructional text that capture the romance and allure of the Hawaiian Islands when they were a Territory of the United States, from 1900 to 1959. The collectibles shown are all from collections in Hawaii, including Aloha clothing, jewelry, surfing paper goods and prints, dolls, woodenware, and souvenirs. This was the first comprehensive overview of Hawaiian objects and designs to be published, and this new edition contains more of the typical and the inspired patterns that are so eagerly sought after, world-wide, by collectors and designers alike. Enjoy memories of Hawaii--the paradise of the Pacific.

Sooooo Many Mistakes in this book - shame shame shame!.......2003-05-19
This instant-expert in Hawaiiana is evidently one of those people who move to Hawaii and think "it's much too good for the Hawaiians so I'll sell as much of it as I can". The photography is good but so many of the descriptions are soooooo wrong that I looked through it in slack-jawed amazement. Don't fall for this phoney-baloney aloha - the real Hawaii is not for sale, no matter how many books you write badly about it.
A Useless New Edition.......2002-05-24
Sixty dollars spent for a new cover, some corrections in the index and a general increase in values is about all that is new in this edition. If you have the older one, don't bother! I felt cheated.
Delightful History!.......2000-04-01
I came across this book in my hotel lounge on the North Shore of Kaui last week, and couldn't put it down. So I've come looking to buy it here. Although it's designed for collectors (which I am not), and places emphasis on the values of the artifacts pictured, it's also designed to chronicle the unique history of our exotic Hawaiian Islands. Beautifully laid out, it includes images of picture postcards, Hawaiin shirt designs, garment labels, wood carvings, and glorious Hawaiian quilts - all accompanied by just enough historical lore to make it a very smart picture book indeed!

A great variety in this book........2001-06-16
High quality glossy paper with great photos and a close up of the stitches for each afghan. I do think its a great book but not necessarily for someone just learning. Lots of color changes and detailed rows in these afghans. Most of the afghans are rated intermediate and maybe they are a bit overrated but I don't think they are for someone just starting out. With a bit of practice under your belt, this will be a great book to have. Lots of pretty designs to make and a nice section at the back on how to do the stitches, general crochet instructions, and the addresses and phone numbers of all the companies whose yarns were used to make the photos of each afghan. Especially nice for someone like me since I live in a town where there is a small selection of yarn no matter which store you go to. Overall, well worth the money for this book.
The Best of the Easy!.......2000-10-29
This book contains great color photos together with easily read instructions. After looking over the book, I could hardly wait to start an afghan. The first afghan I choose was one of the quickest afghans I had completed to date. The ease of creating this afghan did not take away from the impact of the finished product. I am delighted with the results and have already completed others. I found that the rating level in this book is a little overstated - all levels of crocheters should have no difficulties completing each afghan. The afghans offered in this collection have a good variety of styles from the lacey to the more masculine. The patterns are unique and have a good assortment of types: ripple, motif, all over pattern, striped, mile-a-minute, granny square and floral. The collection is divided into chapters which are well defined for their content; ie - "Fireside Warmers", Summer Breezes", "Baby Brights", "Just for Him" to name some. I believe that this book would be a welcome addition to anyone's collection. It will be great to use for the the last minute afghan gift and to facilite the ability to complete a wonderfully beautiful afghan in a relatively short period of time.

A Surprisingly Interesting Survey of Archaeology.......2002-05-06
"Archaeology Detectives" is a pretty interesting little book. The general editor is Paul Bahn, a well-known archaeologist who is also the editor of the "Cambridge History of Archaeology." The contributors are scientists who appear to be well-qualified to write on the subjects they are discussing--there are no lay authors to misunderstand or sensationalize things, nor are there any tales of Ancient Astronauts or Atlantis.
The book is chronologically arranged within sections on Africa, Europe, Asia, and New World/Oceania. It is also well illustrated, with many color photographs of sites, remains and artifacts.
Published in 2001, "Archaeology Detectives" also reviews some cutting-edge developments. For example, the chapter on "Sterkfontein: The Case of Little Foot" tells the story of how archaeologists used some foot bones in a box to locate an Australopithecine skeleton. That skeleton is still being removed from the rock at Sterkfontein, but it is already producing a wealth of information about ancient hominids.
My only criticism of the book is that some of the articles are a bit too short--the piece on Masada, for example, is tantalizing but ends abruptly. Of course, this is a "Reader's Digest" book, so I suppose that isn't surprising.
If you enjoy "Archaeology Detectives," you might want to take a look at the well-illustrated "Seventy Great Mysteries of the Ancient World" (edited by Brian Fagan). That book also features short articles written by qualified scientists, though it covers ground that is generally different from that explored in "Archaeology Detectives."
Most excellent indeed.......2001-08-12
This excellent book is a collection of essays written by various social scientists and divided into four sections: 1)Africa, 2)Europe, 3)Asia, and 4)New World and Oceania. These essays, accompanied by coloured diagrams, maps, and photographs, detail some of the more interesting discoveries made in their section's locations. Some of the essays are a bit short, but they are all interesting and will keep you up to date on the latest (and older) archaeological discoveries and even the methods used by modern archaeologists to uncover information of the past. An incredible book that should be read by anyone with even a mild interest in archaeology, anthropology, and ancient history.
