The talented and gifted writer Carol Lynn Pearson wrote The Model Mormon Mother's Notebook. Which is full of all kinds of anecdote, poems, words of our various church leaders. She also has sprinkled in thoughts from others who are not members of our church who possess great wisdom. The booklet is infused with Carol wonderful humor throughout its pages. It is also very touching in various parts where she infuses her love for the gospel in relation to the Mormon Mother in all of us, with children or without. Carol truly speaks to all women in the pages of this book. This is another favorite of mine and I highly recommend it when you're looking for a little LDS Humor that is sprinkled with inspiration to inspire you to be the best you can be. A pretty good book.......2000-04-03

This book, like the title says, is a primer for choreographers. That means this book explains the basics to beginners like me. It explained in rich language how choreographers should do their jobs well. It helped me understand that dance is more than a bunch of people moving around. In some places, it gets a little hard to understand and a little too philosophical, but overall, it is a good, informative book. I would recommend this to ameteur choreographers, but not to those with more experience.

Outstanding Common Sense.......2006-10-31

I found a 1965 version of the Rational Manager at a garage sale for $1.00 and because I had taken the Kepner Tregoe problem solving training I bought it. What a great book! I then discoverd The New Rational Manager version and got it as well. The books present a very solid and structured methodology with great examples to illustrate their use.

Anyone interested in dealing with the complexity of business or life and doing it well would be well served to pick up these books.

Despite its publishing date, the New Rational Manager stands for what we, leaders, encounter everyday.

From dealing with business associates to even parenting, the writers consolidate all aspects of life to be a focused and managable matter. Almost every issue can be broken down into phases, where in each phase there are opprotunities to ask quality questions, of which drive towards quality solutions. This book shows you how.

On the overall, this is one of the few well-written books of balancing life and business.

The Best Book I've read about Sexual Abuse.......2007-07-14

There is a reason why this book has such a high customer rating. I have never read such a well written and beautifully articulated story of horrendous abuse. I read ALOT of books on this subject. None can compare. It addresses the subject of incest by a father and an enabling mother. It speaks of her relationship with her parents well after the abuse has ended. Anyone who must, or choose, to stay in relationship with their abuser will relate to this. There is much to connect with in her story. Buy it quickly!

A Stunning Memoir .......2007-06-26

I bought this book with hesitancy due to what I thought would be wading through the horrors of family incest, however; Silverman writes with such beautiful prose she makes the subject remain heartwrenching, yet readable in one of those books that does not come along very often. Her account is horrific and not for the faint of heart, but the writing and her courage to to endure and survive the atrocities of her childhood give the reader faith in how strong the human spririt can truly be. An amazing story told by an amazing woman who is obviously also a very gifted writer.

A Terrible Tragedy.......2007-05-15

It's hard to reflect on the book because it is so disturbing. The title alone is disturbing. One more example of the destructiveness and far reaching consequences of sin. God never intended for things to be this way. But something has happened to the human race. Man is capable of things that animals don't do. It is a dreadful thing. The hearts of people, unrestrained, imagine all manor of evil and wickedness. For a young girl to be terrorized by her father and have seemingly no real closure to it all is almost mind numbing. Only God can heal trauma like this. Notice I did not say 'control the symptoms'. I read this book to gain an understanding of what women go through who experience these things. I can say with certainty that not all end up as does this book. My hope and prayer is that she and others like Sue turn to Christ who alone can shoulder this burden.

Shocking.......2006-12-14

This is an excellent book written in the form of a memoir. Sue Silverman can weave together words quite eloquently. You can sense her soul as she tell the most horrific abuses she endured at the hands of her own father. It is sad, and will bring tears to even the most hardened of souls. I commend her for being courageous and sharing her most painful moments with us readers. She is worthy of praise.

Half-Hispanic, half-Yaqui Indian, and an orphan, Roy Benavidez fought his way out of poverty and bigotry to serve with the U.S. Armyâ€™s eliteâ€”the Airborne and the Special Forces. Seriously wounded in Vietnam, he was told he would never walk again. Benavidez not only conquered his disability but demanded to return to combat.

On his second tour, when twelve of his comrades on a secret CIA mission in Cambodia were surrounded by hundreds of North Vietnamese regulars, Benavidez volunteered to rescue them. Despite severe injuries suffered in hand-to-hand combat, Benavidez personally saved eight men. His actions ensured his everlasting place as one of the great heroes of the war. In February 1981, President Reagan awarded him the Medal of Honor.

Duty, Honor, Country.......2004-04-17

I met MSG Benavidez in 1990 while stationed in NJ. I had the distinct honor of driving him around for 2 days while he was there to speak, and that experience will stay with me for the rest of my life. One thing that I remember is him saying that 22 years later metal fragments were still occasionally working their way out of his body.

I still have his picture hanging on my wall after 14 years. I have an extremely short list of hero's; Roy Benavidez holds the top slot...

The Voice of a True American Hero.......2003-05-13

MSG Roy Benevidez was an amazing person, and that's putting it mildly. In spite of his fearful wounds from his first tour-of-duty and doctors saying that he would never walk again, he went on to become an elite member of the US Army Special Forces. His actions in combat showed him to be brave, his actions after made him a hero. Roy Benevidez was not out to gain glory and status from his actions, nor did he ever look for pity because of his humble upbringings. Though his ancestry was Mexican-Indian and Hispanic, he always said, "I prefered to think of myself simply as an American." He had a "never say die" attitude, and strong sense of morals. He possesed neither vanity nor false modestly, and he served as an example of what one can accomplish in a lifetime. Sadly, MSG Roy Benevidez died in 1998. He truely was an American Hero! May God bless his soul.

A True American Hero.......1999-12-22

I was privileged to know and very fortunate to have served with Roy Benavidez. His entire life was a struggle: from his difficult early years in Texas, to his incredible struggle to remain in the Army after his first tour's devastating wounds, to his amazing jump status qualification after the doctors told him he would never walk again, to his incredible heroism that resulted in the MOH (but only after another long battle with the bureaucracy that refused to acknowledge heroism at a time that the country was trying to "forget" Vietnam) and finally, the redemption that came on the White House steps with the MOH ceremony, the "last" MOH given out for Vietnam service. I am glad that Brassey's has put the book out in paperback so that kids can read about Roy and learn to never give up. God Bless You, Roy.

Excellent book, I could not put it down........1999-10-02

Roy Benevidez must have been an incredible person. The feelings and thoughts he shares through out the book shows that behind "The Medal" there was a very real individual. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know what really goes through the mind of a hero.
