THE DIRT.......2007-08-10
Dirty Works is a great book and was very well put together. Lorenzo is a very talented artist that has a certain knack for illustrating sexuality to it's fullest potential. My favorite piece is the very first one, "silk blossom" featuring my favorite gal Aria...The step by step demonstration of sorts gives the reader a very well built foundation into what takes place during the creation of a painting...There are many pin-up artists out there that are very talented and Lorenzo is one of the few just like the angels for his calander series that sits high above the rest...It is one of those books that you do not want the visulas to end, yet you cannot wait to start it over again to experience the women that overwhelmingly dominate page after page...
Lorenzo the Conqueror.......2006-09-01
Kevin Eastman is a shrewd man. Lorenzo Sperlonga was already a rising star when he approached Eastman (publisher of Heavy Metal Magazine, inventor of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, husband to the absurdly beautiful Penthouse model and artist's muse, Julie Strain) to ask him if: "he would mind looking at some of his work." Eastman knew what he had in Sperlonga. Now, many of us know as well, from sea to shining sea. This is the second book of Lorenzo's incredible works to be released. The most beautiful women in the world are not the stick figures in Vogue, they are the beauties in between the covers of this new book. If you like your nude ladies in Sci-fi scenarios, modern settings, or fantasy and even humorous, you can have it all. Two words that could be used to describe Lorenzo's style are diverse, and imaginative. There is an incredible rendition of a woman in leather and chains hanging on a trellis called "Ivy", that is so photorealistic you will wonder if it is a painting at all. The detail in the trellis is incredible just on its own. This is one erotic and highly imaginative piece of work! Another pin-up, called "Thorns", looks like it should be on the side of an old World War Two fighter jet. Lorenzo's work shifts easily from futuristic to the Old West, forever stimulating the senses. There are many great artists of this genre but Lorenzo Sperlonga is somehow beyond the genre. His work is provocative and exciting on numerous levels. The first book is also awesome (check out my review) and hinted at things to come from this evolving artist. In the back of this book is a glimpse into the artist's personal life with photographs of family and friends. One of the photographs is of soldiers in Iraq enjoying posters from this book. What a beautiful footnote to this stylish book. Nobody does it quite like Lorenzo, and this collection is a must have.

Book Description
Italian born Lorenzo Sperlonga is well on his way to creating a world-wide reputation for pin-up perfection. His work has appeared in the Italian versions of Playboy and Penthouse, but it was his eye-popping illustrations in the pages of Hustler and Heavy Metal that gave him his rapid and rabid American following. Since moving to Los Angeles, Lorenzo has been kept extremely busy with projects that promote both his outstanding artwork, and the female form he seems delightfully fascinated with.

Lorenzo Sperlonga's Rising Star.......2006-07-11
If you like erotic pin-up, sci-fi, or fantasy art dealing with realistic images of beautiful women, (and a great rendition of Spiderman and Vlad, the infamous impaler) this is the book for you. Not only are the paintings photo-realistic in many instances, but they are imaginative in their settings. There are many great artists of this genre to pick from, but this book is a little different in that Lorezno Sperlonga shows you he is not trapped in any box. There is something for every kind of pin-up art lover in this sleek volume of his work. For real art fans, Lorenzo lets you see his progression over a period of years and he is nothing if not improving with every brush stroke. I love this rather unassuming artist and the work he has put together here. I highly recommend this collection to any fan of erotic fantasy art. And by the way, not every painting is a nude rendition and yet even those that are not have great impact. There is even an endearing painting of a raccoon on the last page where he thanks all of the people who have helped him along the way. A must have!!
AN UNPARALLED TALENT!.......2005-09-28
In the world of erotic/pinup art, Lorenzo Sperlonga is a true master. In a field loaded with some extremely talented artists, Sperlonga is one of the very best, drawing and painting some of the most beautiful women ever put on paper. This 104 page, full color collection from SQP collects some of the greatest works from the Italian artist. Sperlonga was "discovered" by Kevin Eastman, publisher of Heavy Metal and co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Eastman was blown away by the lush, detailed, photo-realistic quality of Sperlonga's work. What I love about him is how diversified he is, being able to cross-genres from standard pin-up-style art, to fantasy, sci-fi, and horror with relative ease. He infuses his works with eroticism and an enticing wit.
Take a piece called "Angel Baby" showing a rather beleaguered blonde angel, sitting at a table drinking Jack Daniels with a cigarette burning in an ash tray. It's a fantastic piece providing tremendous fodder for conversation regarding its interpretation. "Come out and Play" features identical twin sisters, armed with aluminum baseball bats, ready for action...and I doubt it's baseball they're in the mood for. "Welcome to Hell" features scream queen, and Eastman's wife Julie Strain (damn but that man is lucky" along with the Porcelain Twins, as the official door greeters in Hell. This was taken from a Heavy Metal cover.
"The Mirror" is a tricky, creative painting as a topless woman dries herself off after a shower, and yet in the mirror, you only see the towel, seemingly hanging in mid air, as the woman casts no reflection herself. Sperlonga takes a stab at pop culture with "Hannibal's Revenge" showing Jodie Foster as Agent Starling, clad in a straight jacket and locked in a padded cell.
One of my favorite paintings in the entire collection is "The Mummy" showing a gorgeous mummy who has just returned to life. The use of light and shadow in this piece is just flawless. The way the light shimmers off the walls is mesmerizing. Lizzy Strain (half-sister to Julie) models for "Lizzy Goes to London" standing with an assault rifle in front of the Union Jack, flipping the bird. Buxom Anna Nicole Smith poses in a see through top, sitting on a pool table, in a painting entitled "Saloon Kitty."
The book provides a sketch, pencil and ink section and Lorenzo takes you through the creative process from rough draft to completed paintings. A comprehensive index gives a thumbnail of each piece including the name, medium and model name. Contrary to the other review, I will tell you that the book is printed on high quality, slick, glossy paper and is just a beautiful book. My highest recommendation for the Art of Lorenzo Sperlonga!

I like Sperlonga a lot, and this is a very nice selection of his work. However, this is a magazine and not a paperback. The cover and pages are very thin. SQP has just not put together a book with quality paper. If you can find the hardback on the web it is better though pricey.

This is great!.......2007-03-08
Not really sure why I bought this book. The title certainly did nothing to reveal what a gem it would turn out to be. I mean..Clued In? It makes sense once you start reading the book but it is certainly somewhat obscure for a business title.
However, it you do manage to get past the cover, you'll find one of the best books on this topic that I"ve ever read. And I've read quite a few.
Author Lewis Carbone clearly knows his stuff and his passion for the topic comes out as you turn over the pages. The book is literally full of insightful case studies and reveals a depth of understanding and practical advice that makes the book truely memorable.
This is not a book to casually flick through, it demands your serious attention. I'll certainly be going back to it again and again. Buy it!
Great book, but leaves a few essentials out.......2006-11-04
Lewis Carbone knows his stuff, and it shows in his offering, Clued In. We are going through the process at our company and, although we see the potential and understand what Carbone means by the "customer experience," it still requires a psychologist on staff to help us understand how to go about "mining for clues." In a nutshell, great book, gets everyone on board in seeing the potential for increased bottom line. But mining for clues is an essential part of the process, and Mr. Carbone leaves the reader with a feeling that the process is somehow mystical.
Great guide book for experience management.......2006-05-09
Building on The Experience Economy, Carbone's book adds significant details and road maps to achieve experience management. Highly readable.
Highly Recommended!.......2005-08-17
Pull up a chair, sit down and take notes in this virtual boardroom. With insider details gathered from decision-makers at major corporations, author Lewis P. Carbone gives you a close-up look at the business of customer satisfaction. From Howard Johnson to Starbucks, the author provides you-are-there clues about the customer marketing strategies that have fueled high-profile successes and caused major failures. Reading this book is like eavesdropping on top executives. The author enhances corporate scenarios with helpful charts and timelines that apply to all businesses, from mom-and-pop enterprises to major conglomerates. The text is occasionally repetitive, but that drives home important points. We recommend this solid marketing tool to business owners and managers.
The Prohibitive Cost of Being Clueless.......2005-07-24
Warren Buffett once said that price is what is charged for a product or service but value is what others think it's worth. I thought about that comment as I began to read Carbone's book. If Buffett's right (and I think he is), the key to getting customers to come back "again and again" is to create for them a purchase experience whose importance includes but is by no means limited to their perception of price relative to value. What else? Carbone: "The tangible attributes of a product or service have far less influence on consumer preference than the unconscious sensory and emotional elements derived from the total experience." He goes on to point out that creating value around multi-dimensional, well-integrated, and consciously managed experiences involves connecting with "the unconscious emotional passions of your customers and in the process, you'll discover how to differentiate yourself from competitors in ways that can be almost impossible to copy and commoditize." I agree.
In Part I, Carbone makes a case for experience management and then, in Part II, explains HOW to do that effectively. In chapters 7-11, he rigorously examines five separate but interdependent disciplines, devoting a separate chapter to each. I especially appreciate his provision of basic questions. For example, here are three which must be answered by application of the Discipline of Assessing Experience:
1. What potential impact does managing customer experiences represent for the organization?
2. How is the experiential value currently being created for customers?
3. What resources are available to improve and optimize the way your organization creates experience value?
The other four Disciplines involve auditing, designing, implementing, and stewarding experiences. Again, Carbone includes for each a cluster of "basic" questions to be answered or areas on which to focus. I also appreciate Carbone's provision of all manner of check-lists, guidelines, and caveats as well as "Figures" which enable his reader to concentrate on both core principles of customer experience management and effective application of them. Throughout the book, he inserts italicized comments such as these:
"No one competence, discipline, or tool will be a universal silver bullet; rather it is the experience management counterpart to Disney's coveted `pixie dust.' It's the innovative blending of numerous perspectives and competencies that unlocks the full potential of experiential value creation." (Page 117)
"Designing experiences begins with the customer and ends with the customer. When clues are aligned with the customer's known desires and emotional needs, distinctive experiential value is being created. When they're not in harmony, conflicts occur and the value created is eroded." (page 190)
"The clues your customers place in the positive zone today may someday be neutralized, becoming basic expectations that no longer provide completive advantage but eventually become minimum thresholds to be met by anyone with ambitions of competing for long-term customer loyalty." (page 219)
I realize that these three brief excerpts are taken out of context. However, hopefully, they will help those who read this brief commentary to obtain at least a sense of what Carbone offers in this book. His customer experience management program is cohesive, comprehensive, and cost-effective. That said, I think it would be a fool's errand to try to implement all of it, either immediately or over an extended period of time. "Getting clued in [to what is of greatest importance to your customers] is the critical first step. From that start, you too will begin to harness the kind of relentless energy that is generated by sensing clues and recognizing their meaning and importance in the eyes [and hearts] of your customers."
In the Afterword, Carbone confides that he now spends much less time trying to convince people to accurately measure the experiential value they create for their customers and much more time explaining how to do it. How accurate and current are your organization's measurements? Unless they are both, your organization cannot possibly manage customer experience, much less increase its value.

Over time, Tim O'Brien has used both art and artifice to shape his fictional accounts of Vietnam. Award-winning novels such as Going After Cacciato and The Things They Carried offer up a surreal view of the war: a soldier who decides to walk to Paris, leaving only a trail of M&M's in his wake; a young man who imports his high-school girlfriend to his base camp high in the jungled mountains, only to lose her to a shadowy squad of Special Forces Green Berets and to "that mix of unnamed terror and unnamed pleasure" that was Vietnam. O'Brien's first account of the war, however, was written in the raw, unfiltered months following his return from Southeast Asia in 1969. If I Die in a Combat Zone has all of the eloquence and attention to language and detail that are a mark of the author's work; what is different about it is its straightforward, unembellished depiction of his personal experience of hell.
"When you are ordered to march through areas such as Pinkville--GI slang for Song My, parent village of My Lai ... you do some thinking. You hallucinate. You look ahead a few paces and wonder what your legs will resemble if there is more to the earth in that spot than silicates and nitrogen. Will the pain be unbearable? Will you scream or fall silent? Will you be afraid to look at your own body, afraid of the sight of your own red flesh and white bone? You wonder if the medic remembered his morphine."
O'Brien paints an unvarnished portrait of the infantry soldier's life that is at once mundane and terrifying--the endless days of patrolling punctuated by firefights that end as suddenly and inconclusively as they begin; the mind-numbing brutality of burned villages and trampled rice patties; the terror of tunnels, minefields, and the ever-present threat of death. Powerful as these scenes are, perhaps the most memorable chapter in the book concerns his decision to desert just a few weeks before he was sent to Vietnam. "The AWOL bag was ready to go, but I wasn't.... I burned the letters to my family. I read the others and burned them, too. It was over. I simply couldn't bring myself to flee. Family, the home town, friends, history, tradition, fear, confusion, exile: I could not run." Tim O'Brien went into the war opposing it and came out knowing exactly why. If I Die in a Combat Zone is more than just a memoir of a disastrous war; it is also a meditation on heroism and cowardice, on the mutability of truth and morality in a war zone and, most of all, on the simple, human capacity to endure the unendurable. --Alix Wilber
Book Description
Before writing his award-winning
Going After Cacciato, Tim O'Brien gave us this intensely personal account of his year as a foot soldier in Vietnam. The author takes us with him to experience combat from behind an infantryman's rifle, to walk the minefields of My Lai, to crawl into the ghostly tunnels, and to explore the ambiguities of manhood and morality in a war gone terribly wrong. Beautifully written and searingly heartfelt,
If I Die in a Combat Zone is a masterwork of its genre.
Customer Reviews:
An informative memoir on the Vietnam War.......2007-08-30
This memoir brought me closer than I had been before to the Vietnam War..it was interesting. Another perspective on the Vietnam War.
The first step.......2007-08-09
If I Die...is Tim O'Brien's first book, and his first of many inspired by his tour of duty as an infantryman in Vietnam, 1969-70. Later, more successful books, like Going After Cacciato and The Things They Carried, deliberately smudge the line between reportage and invented story (and, in GAC, he takes it all the way to outright fantasy) but this debut is intended as a soldier's field memoir, the facts as O'Brien saw and remembers them, although with much brooding personal commentary added.
More than 30 years after its publication, the book is still quite powerful, reviving the sights and sounds of a war that America decided a while ago not to forget, but rather to remember in a way it finds most convenient. There are still too many people who believe we could easily have "won" Vietnam if we hadn't been "stabbed in the back" by politicians and hippie protestors at home; that is nonsense, much of which O'Brien's book helps disprove. Indispensible works like The Best and the Brightest, and of course The Pentagon Papers, prove how various US administrations allowed themselves to be deluded about the progress the US military might make in solving the political problems of a small SE Asian country. By the time O'Brien arrived as a foot soldier in early 1969, the war had reached a high-level stalemate, was essentially over, and the Vietnamese simply had to wait us out. LBJ and Nixon knew this but they continued to send our soldiers over to be killed and mangled; too precipitous a withdrawal would have hurt their administrations politically.
What O'Brien does so well is dramatize this fatal stall at the personal level. His book is loaded with stories of ranking officers, brave men with Army careers, allowing their commands to ease off in the field, avoid pointless enemy engagements, even file fake patrol reports, especially at night. O'Brien's tour commenced a year after Tet and My Lai occurred, and in their aftermath, as O'Brien tells it, Army morale at even the officer level had sunk so low, and the failure of US goals was so evident, that few Americans wanted to get killed for a misadventure.
What lingers most in my mind is O'Brien's struggle with his own self-loathing: he believed even before being drafted that the war was wrong, and made serious plans to desert the Army, but found himself unable to make that great break, fearful of the reaction he would eventually encounter from parents and the small Minnesota town of his birth. He gave in to tradition, rather than do what he felt to be right, and it seems he has never forgiven himself.
A Good Time To Revisit the Vietnam Experience .......2007-08-02
Tim O'Brien is one of our more gifted, living writers in the genre of war literature, and although IF I DIE IN A COMBAT zone isn't his strongest book, it is certainly worthy reading, especially in the echoing din of George Bush's Iraqi adventure.
A straightforward account from a soldier's point of view, O'Brien's book includes the before, during, and after of his Vietnam experience -- especially the daily grind of soldiering (during) and the soul-searching and debate about fleeing (before) instead of answering the call of the draft. He had a rather quixotic escape plan to Sweden (of all places), but ultimately did his "duty," all along meditating on the nature of sanity, obligation, and patriotism. There are frequent excerpts from Plato, even, as O'Brien explores that ancient philosopher's take on "courage." As his fellow soldiers are killed, O'Brien details the nature of fate and chance, along with the more realistic details of the many ways "Charlie" (the VC) could arrange for you to die.
Here is a typical excerpt in which O'Brien compares Vietnam to the Trojan War:
"But losing [Captain Johansen] was like the Trojans losing Hector. He gave some amount of reason to fight. Certainly there were never any political reasons. The war, like Hector's own war, was silly and stupid. Troy was besieged for the sake of a pretty woman. And Helen, for God's sake, was a woman most of the grubby, warted Trojans could never have. Vietnam was under siege in pursuit of a pretty, tantalizing, promiscuous, particularly American brand of government and style. And most of Alpha Company would have preferred a likable whore to self-determination. So Captain Johansen helped to mitigate and melt the silliness, showing the grace and poise a man can have under the worst of circumstances, a wrong war. We clung to him." -- (p. 145)
Philosophical riffs like this are frequent -- as are accounts of the soldiers' lives (and deaths), their nicknames for killer devices, their fear and superstitions, and their ways of surviving in a strange land where even women and children could, and often did, mean death. The literary weave of abstractions on war and history with specifics on Vietnam itself make for a potent read. You will come out of it not only feeling better educated about what Vietnam was like, but sensing that many of the arguments of the American government and the officers in charge ring as familiarly hollow now (in Iraq) as they did then (in Vietnam). If I could, I'd buy a copy for the President. But I know he wouldn't read it or, if he did, seek meaning from it.
Pro or anti-war, Vietnam or Iraq, you, however, can glean something from this early effort of Tim O'Brien's. Check it out.
Good, but not his best.......2007-04-28
Having read O'Brien's "The Things They Carried" first, this book seemed a bit dry and journalistic in comparison. It started out slow, and never really pulled me in the way the other did. In this book there are flashes of O'Brien's lyrical, dream-like brilliance, but never as consistent or as seemingly tangible as in "The Things They Carried."
In this book, O'Brien brings the reader along with him from the moment he first learns that he is to be drafted until he is on a plane heading home from Viet Nam. He shares his fears, doubts and political views of the war. The book is mostly about O'Brien's experience in the war, and how it changed him and matured him.
Overall, a good book. Probably of particular interest to anyone interested in a personal, almost documentary-style account of O'Brien's experience in Viet Nam. In a purely literary sense, however, the stories in "The Things They Carried" are far better examples of Tim O'Brien's skill as a writer.
A good book.......2007-01-11
A little too in depth for me. But i do recommend that it be read. A good book.

Image of an Assassination - A New Look at the Zapruder Film
ASIN: 081269547X |
Book Description
The assassination of John F. Kennedy has produced a wealth of dubious evidence and bizarre disappearances, from faked photographs of Lee Harvey Oswald to the missing brain of the president. Until now, Abraham Zapruder’s 27-second home movie capturing the murder of JFK has been considered sacrosanct. This book, bringing together all the leading authorities in the assassination research community, challenges that notion. These experts examined the film from every imaginable perspective, including the technical processes of video production, the laws of physics, contradictions by eyewitnesses, and medical evidence. Their conclusion is chilling but thoroughly documented: that the Zapruder film has been doctored, pointing to a meticulously planned, high-tech falsification of evidence of this momentous, still unsolved, event. Published to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Kennedy's death, contributors include David W. Mantick, the foremost expert on JFK assassination medical evidence, and David Healy, an authority on film processing. Black-and-white photographs are included.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent work by Fetzer.......2006-09-26
This book describes the results of painstaking work by Fetzer and others, using simple tools of geometry and measurements of the still-existing concrete structures at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, to prove that the Zapruder film was heavily and professionally modified to show an incorrect series of events.
Fetzer et. al. got started on to path to their discovery when they noticed a few years ago that the photo taken by one of the girls shown in the background of the Zapruder film contained a sight line that would only be correct if the girl (Moorman) was standing on the street next to the curb. Yet, the Zapruder film inexplicably was showing the girl standing on the grass above the curb. Which was correct? Looking first at the Moorman photo, the researchers were able to establish that the perspective in the original photo taken by Moorman had not been altered after the photo was taken since that photo had been published worldwide by the wire services within an hour after the assassination. Then, working backwards, using simple geometry and careful survey measurements they were able to determine the exact spot where Moorman stood when she snapped her picture, which turned out to be 2 feet into the street next to the curb, just as she had said in her signed, sworn, statement to the police on the day of the assassination. The authors showed that it is a physical impossibility for Moorman to have taken her photo from the position on the grass, approximately 12 inches higher in elevation, where she is shown in the Zapruder film. With that as a starting point, the researchers were able to show that there were other alterations in the Zapruder film including two missing sequences of frames, a series of altered frames (including those with Moorman) where the back ground has been cut, enlarged 130 percent, and repasted into modified frames, and a series of frames modified with a slightly relocated freeway sign, apparently to obscure something taking place behind the sign.
I started off reading this book with deep skepticism over the claim implied by its title but after seeing the results of their work, they have proven every one of their claims without leaving room for even a shadow of doubt.
This is a classic real-life detective story that is fascinating reading. The best evidence that Kennedy was killed by a conspiracy is now the very existence of the doctored-up Zapruder film since only a large conspiracy would have had the physical and technical resources to do such a thing in 1963. Certainly the original suspect in the crime, Lee Harvey Oswald, would not have been able to produce the doctored film and he would not have cared anyway since he was himself killed two days after the crime.
Does the crime matter anymore? Probably not since after 42 years, all of the players in the conspiracy are either dead or in a nursing home but it's still important to establish the truth, even for a crime from the distant past, and Fetzer has done this in superb fashion. This work will finally bring closure to the troubling assassination for those who read it.
The unaware Zapruder filmed a closed-set staged-event........2006-09-10
It was filmed before a live audience .When some of the "witnesses", didn't respond to the gunshots and the aftermath,it just adds credence to a vast conspiracy theory.Zapruder handed over the film. And had to legally fight to get it back. The filmed shooting clearly shows the upper-right side of JFK's head ,being removed. So,why were the released autopsy photos, showing an exit wound having grazed the very top right-side of JFK's head? Two top autopsy doctors reported that JFK's top right-side and brain were imploded and expeled onto the limo's trunk.Later, their stories were recanted and rectified to stating that Kennedy's brain was removed and stored for further examination. When RFK found out about this,he ordered it returned.Yet,the doctors then stated the JFK brain was now "lost and misplaced" . It appears that the CIA monkeyed with the Zapruder film, by removing some frames. The film clearly shows JFK being hit ,from the back ,reaching for his throat, bullit possibly going forward to hit Connelly's back scapula and raising wrist. All body-hits in a split second ,at close-range and at street level. The close-range shot did not impede the bullit's progress. This adds support to a police-escourt shooter ,being involved. Zapruder seemed shakened by the whole experience.I think some of audience,at the Ford's Theatre 1865,also knew the evening's comedy would unfold into live tragedy, before their very eyes.
JAMES FETZER'S THE GREAT ZAPRUDER FILM HOAX : COMMENT BY JOHN CHUCKMAN.......2006-08-23
There can be no review of a book this bad. Fetzer has cut-and-pasted together a series of these horrid little volumes, hoping the catchy titles sell a few thousand copies to the unsuspecting curious.
All of Fetzer's books on the Kennedy assassination are of this nature. Don't waste one dollar on a used copy.
Read people like Summers or Joesten if you want to understand why so many thoughtful people have consigned The Warren Report to the trash, the same place Fetzer's work belongs.
Pure, unadulterated lies and unfounded accusations.......2006-02-06
Don't waste your money and time with this trash. If I could I would give it a -5 rating.
This garbage gives conspiracy theorists a bad name.......2005-12-06
"Perhaps no greater debate has raged in the history of the study of the death of JFK than over the authenticity of a 27-second home movie of the assassination, known as "the Zapruder film"."
This is from the beginning of the description of this book in the section above. What's laughable about this statement is that this "debate" is only a recent phenomenon -- dreamed up by those extremist conspiracy buffs who wish to shoehorn the evidence to fit the most ridiculous theories. I personally believe that President Kennedy was assassinated as a result of a conspiracy. I have been to Dealey Plaza twice and, in my estimation, the Warren Report should be in the fiction section of the library. But believing that the Zapruder film is a fake? If you believe that, I've got the Brooklyn Bridge for sale -- cheap.
In order to both quickly refute the findings of the contributors to this book and not waste any more time on this theory than is necessary, I will say this: I find it absolutely ludicrous that anyone could think that the technology to alter the Zapruder film existed in 1963. In 1963, special photographic effects were, at best, in their infancy. Douglas Trumbull, George Lucas, the Wachowski brothers and digital imaging were still decades away. Yet somehow the conspirators, according to Fetzer and company, were able to perpetrate a hoax so convincing that for almost 40 years, no one questioned the film's authenticity? Nuts!
And why, if the conspirators had access to the film and were able to manipulate the images to suit their story, then why didn't they (1) alter the film to make it appear as if there was enough time between the first and second shots to accomodate the recirculation time of Oswald's rifle (2) eliminate Governor Connolly's puffed cheeks and mussed hair at frame 238, thereby eradicating evidence of the Governor being hit by a separate shot from Kennedy and (3) alter the film so that President Kennedy appears to be jolted forward by the head shot rather than backwards as he is on the film? For such a thorough job of alteration, it's ridiculous to believe that the conspirators who were allegedly involved it this plot left so much pro-conspriacy evidence on the film.
As a serious student of the Kennedy assassination, I am insulted by these wild-eyed lunatic theories that are cooked up to sell books. The pro-Warren Report forces love to throw a blanket over all conspiracy advocates, characterizing all of them as kooks who can't accept that JFK was murdered by a lone nut. Stupid theories don't get us any closer to the truth -- they just fuel the anti-conspiracy fires that do nothing but pad the pockets of the authors and give comfort to those who subscribe to the Warren Commission's view of the assassination.
However, even more disgusting is the willingness to smear those who cannot defend themselves. Some conspiracy advocates have actually suggested that Abraham Zapruder was part of the conspiracy. After all, how else could the conspriators obtain the film in order to alter it? Poor Mr. Zapruder, who was haunted by what he had filmed until his death in 1970, is not here to defend himself. To slur a man who, by most accounts, was a quiet, decent person, in order to sell a book or forward a ridiculous theory is the lowest kind of smear job imaginable. I'm sure that, given enough time, some idiot will come up with some half-witted theory that Jackie Kennedy was in on the conspiracy as well. Shame on you and your ilk, Mr. Fetzer -- this shameful exploitation of John F. Kennedy's memory is a travesty.
