    5 out of 5 stars Great Book.......2007-03-20

I have used this book for many presentations to children about "Stranger Danger" and it has been very affective in getting the point across. Children love to interact with the book and they always love to say the line "Never talk to stranger" out loud with me.

4 out of 5 stars Classical Read for TODAY.......2007-02-14

I agree with some of the points that previous reviewers have made about the world that we live in today and that not everyone can be trusted ... HOWEVER ... there is something to be said for misleading statements. Pages such as "everybody knows the Easter Bunny" can open the lines of communication between parent and child at an early and CRITICAL stage in a toddler/preschool childs life.

TALK TO YOUR KIDS ABOUT SAFETY -- don't wait or wish that a book will do it for you!!! If you expect a book to teach your child right from wrong or about not talking to strangers, you are sadly mistaken.

Reading to your children is a fundamental and entertaining way to continue to build the bonds of trust between you and your child. You SHOULD read this book to your kids and then explain to them that not all can be trusted but that it is worth the time to know and understand the difference and proper manners.

The excellent illustrations and clever rhymes will build a continuity for your child. I remember reading this book when I was in kindergarten and now years later, I still believe that it is a good read. Times haven't changed much when it comes to who you can and can't trust.

Be smart, take the time to talk to your kids about who can and can't be trusted, but don't blame the message and disregard it completely. That is one thing that won't change ... "NEVER TALK TO STRANGERS".

1 out of 5 stars Confusing to children, bad information, wrong message.......2007-02-02

A reality based approach to teaching children to avoid strangers is best. Kids NEED to know that a grandmotherly lady may in fact be a threat and the nice man given out candy is to be avoided. NOT 'don't talk to the pushing rhino or the grumpy bear' What young kid will get the point of this book? And NO, the Easter Bunny is not to be trusted 'because everybody knows him'! This book gives kids the wrong idea completely. Be honest with your kids. A little fear of strangers is a good thing. Look into John Walsh's "Stranger Safety".

    1 out of 5 stars Bad Message.......2006-12-27

This book accompanied by mother's constant warnings of the dangers of strangers, has left a permanent mark on my ability to introduce myself to people I do not know. Strangers are not evil. Most harm to children comes from people well connected to the family- relatives or friends. I am now in a sales position, and I have to overcome this programming to get up the nerve to introduce myself to someone I do not know. I know it seems silly, but it is very true.

5 out of 5 stars Fantasic Book, Important Lesson, NOT the ONLY lesson.......2005-09-20

This was a favorite book from my childhood, and I can still chant "Never Talk To Strangers" with the best of them. Animals or not, the message "Never Talk To Strangers" got through to me. Of course, my parents did not expect a children's rhyming book to teach me all I needed to know about the dangers of the world, but this book introduced the idea of not talking to people you did not know. This was a wonderful way to teach me about being cautious, without scaring me to death. I can't wait to share this important lesson, and great story with my kids.

1 out of 5 stars Too cutesy to be helpful.......2004-07-01

A lilting cadence and cute pictures make this a charming text, but the message it conveys is useless in terms of actually helping kids protect themselves. By portraying all the "strangers" as animals, it doesn't really address the devious ways people can try to harm children. It just repeats over and over that whether you see a kangaroo, a hippo, whatever, "never talk to strangers." But, it goes on to say, if you are introduced to someone (a friend of a friend), that person is "not a stranger" and thereby, the book implies, "safe." While this is a clean distinction, children are most likely to be abused by someone they actually know, and should be taught what kinds of behavior is ok from adults (strangers or not) and what isn't. I suppose it doesn't hurt to teach children not to talk to strangers, but it would be more useful to teach them not to go anywhere with strangers.

This is a book about a little girl and boy that teaches children not to talk to kids no matter who thye ar eand what they say.

This is a very good book for young children. It teaches children not to talk to strangers no matter what they do. Even if they say that they have something for you, you just stay away and do not talk to them.

                  Book Description

The M8 light armored car was the only significant wheeled combat vehicle used by the US Army in World War II. In conjunction with the lightly armed utility version, the M20, it was the staple of the army's cavalry squadrons for use in reconnaissance and scouting. First entering combat in Italy in 1943, it was widely used throughout the campaign in northwest Europe, though its off-road performance was found to be wanting. This title describes the design and development of the M8, covering the many variants that were produced during World War II and afterwards, along with a comprehensive survey of its operational use.

I like the Osprey series in general in this book in particular. Like other Osprey books, this volume gives a brief history of the weapon's development, it's specifications and modifications through it's career, a lot of good pictures and accurate color artwork, and even a first-hand account of the weapon's effectiveness in combat.

It's a good, short primer on American armored car design and employment during WWII. The only thing I do not like is that these nice little books are still a bit overpriced for their length. I recommend it in spite of this small flaw.

                  Book Description

Following their invasion of Java on March 1, 1942, the Japanese began a process of Japanization of the archipelago, banning every remnant of Dutch rule. Over the next three years, more than 100,000 Dutch citizens were shipped to Japanese internment camps and more than four million romushas, forced Indonesian laborers, were enlisted in the Japanese war effort.

The Japanese occupation stimulated the development of Indonesian independence movements. Headed by Sukarno, a longtime admirer of Japan, nationalist forces declared their independence on August 15, 1945. For Dutch citizens, Dutch-Indonesians or "Indos," and pro-Dutch Indonesians, Sukarno's declaration marked the beginning of a new wave of terror. These powerful and often poignant stories from survivors of the Japanese occupation and subsequent turmoil surrounding Indonesian independence provide one with a vivid portrait of the hardships faced during the period.

This historical book provides individual, personal in depth true accounts of the Dutch and Dutch-Indo's plight during and immediatiately following Japanese invasion and internment in the former Dutch East Indies during World War II. A truly inspiring book of courage and fortitude that gives the reader an opportunity to acquire an understanding of this turbulent period of time in the Pacific theater of war. An excellent and informative read of stories that need to be told.

                  5 out of 5 stars Family History.......2007-03-13

My family is Indo (Dutch-Indonesian), and our family history has been oral. It was difficult to relay their story to American friends who had never heard of any atrocities of the second World War other than the holocaust. As it's noted in the book, "It is unconcionable to allow future generations to forget what happend in the Indies, just as it is folly to turn our backs on the holocaust in Europe."

Memory fades fast, and it's good that this history is written down to be remembered. I'm involved with some contemporary Dutch organizations, but I look different by my dusky skin, and sometimes I think that this book explains to the "whiter" Dutch what I am, and where I came from. Forgotten or not, I'm part of their culture.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I've read enough about the American internment camps that the Japanese-Americans were held, and while there is a great deal of sympathy towards them in the United States, what the Japanese did to the Dutch and Dutch-Indonesians shouldn't be forgotten either. I sometimes wonder if it isn't known as much in the US because it didn't take place in Europe.

5 out of 5 stars A thorough document, full of vivid details.......2006-03-22

This book consists of eyewitness accounts of various people, mostly Dutch nationals or Dutch colonists, who were caught up in seven long years of war -- beginning with the Japanese conquest of Indonesia (then known as the Dutch East Indies), the Second World War and the subsequent revolution by Soekarno and Hatta, Indonesian revolutionaries whose drive for independence was given the blessing of the Japanese.

The Dutch received an unfortunate smear -- "Dutch courage" -- as a result of a premature surrender to the Japanese; if what I've read is true, then this smear is undeserved (particularly in light of the British surrender at Singapore). This book should go a long way to rectifying that unearned stigma.

5 out of 5 stars Voices from a forgotten history.......1999-03-01

This is history they didn't teach us in school! Jan Krancher has compiled 24 personal accounts from survivors of a brutal -and nearly forgotten- episode of World War II: the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies and imprisonment of thousands of its people. This 3 1/2 year occupation was immediately followed by a bloody revolution and the creation of modern Indonesia.

These deeply moving stories, from civilian internees (including children) and military POW's, give the English-speaking reader a glimpse of what has been called the "other Holocaust", the brutalities of the Pacific War. You won't forget them.

If you liked the film "Paradise Road", you won't want to miss this book.

This work explains how different, and controversial, outcomes have often occurred over the GM food and crops issue in regions such as the US, the UK and the EU. Central concerns will be the relationship of science and politics, how these two spheres overlap and how the issue relates to globalization.

From the supplier: The furor over the introduction of genetically modified foods in Europe is largely the result of the misplaced scare tactics of activist groups such as Greenpeace. Such groups ignore the fact that genetically modified foods are really nothing new since Americans have, for decades, been consuming improved plant varieties produced by hybridization and other classical genetic techniques. Activist groups also fail to mention that modern recombinant DNA technologies have led to many safe, useful breakthroughs in agriculture, including gene-spliced products such as frost-resistant potatoes and disease-resistant seeds. Unfortunately, the scare tactics of activist groups have been helped along by overzealous US regulators who have repeatedly blocked biotechnology advances from reaching the market, providing opponents reasons to contest the export of these biotechnology products to Europe.

                            Book Description

Blood In My Eye captures the spirit of Geogre Jackson's legendary resistance to unbridled oppression and racism. His unique and incisively critical perpective becomes the unifying thread that ties this collection of letters and essays in which he presents his analysis of armed struggle, class war, facism, communism and a wide array of topics.

5 out of 5 stars Should be required reading..........2007-07-20

This monumental work encompassing politics, economics, history, military strategy, psycology, self-defense and critical analysis is one of the most important works written by an author of African descent. There are a select few books which I would honestly call timeless classics but this along with Carter G. Woodson's "The Mis-Education of the Negro," are two which should be required reading for every New-Afrikan male. There are so many key points and observations made which are prevalent in todays society that it becomes clear as to the reason why the author was viewed as a threat to American society at large.

This is George Jackson at his finest. Thirty years before the Bush era inspired fears of American fascism, this literary master-piece warned of the impending danger. George warned that "no facist regime "in power" would "advocate the abolition of any form of private ownership." Over the past 7 years we've seen blatant examples of this come to life in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Venenzuela, Liberia, Zimbabwe and countless other hotspots around the world. Viewing the mistakes of history Jackson from the confines of his cell was able to offer up such historically accurate assessments as "war taken to the point of diminishing return weakens rather than strengthens the participants."

In the tradition of Malik El Hajj Shabazz, David Walker, Denmark Veasey, Nat Turner and countless others, the call for a unified, fearless resistance to oppression earned George L. Jackson a death sentence. How much of a threat was he, consider this. On December 12, 2005, Stanley "Tookie" Williams was denied clemency from the Govenor of California who pointed to his sighting of George Jackson as a hero of his, as evidence that Williams believed in armed rebellion and was thus a unworthy of clemency inspite of his work against gang violence.

In facing the use of the title of Blood in My Eye by a quisling like Jahrule, my anger and disappointment was pacified only by the words found in this text in relation to "the black running dog." "Your main source of opposition is the black running dog...but it is unfair to automatically condemn a black person for not understanding economic and political subtleties...some are simply confused in an honest way.

                            3 out of 5 stars Interesting polemic.......2003-12-20

I have not read this book yet, but it seems to be an interesting propaganda piece (in the original sense of the word) by somebody serving an unjust sentence.

Nowadays, with Three Srikes and you're Out in CA, this is being repeated no doubt.

My objection to this book (why it's not 5 stars) is that it appears to be a derivative work by somebody who studied the original leftist agitators.

Also, this book is likely to be admired by prison radicals who actually do not mind being labeled evil. By that I mean prison gang diciples. This is the modern 21st century trend--in other words, people who do not care for a reconcilation with their oppressors, but relish the opportunity to make trouble.

                            5 out of 5 stars Very Informative.......2003-10-26

Now I figured out where Ja Rule got the title for his new album from. Upon reading this book, it addressed the racial, sociatal, politcal, and emotional abuse that was going on in his life and towards blacks. I think it was not fair that he got one year to life in prison just for stealing $70.00 from a store. I think he should've served some prison time and community service. But being gave life in prison for a misdemeanor is definately wrong!. If he were white he would probly get 2 years in prison & probation. But they did not allow that for blacks back during that time. I thought the collection of essays & letters expressed his feelings or inner most thoughts. So I can see why Ja Rule named his album after this book's title

5 out of 5 stars Prison Praxis and Radical Political Philosophy.......2003-04-24

The life praxis of assassinated prison intellectual and revolutionary George Jackson embodies much of the radical possibility embodied by the work of radical prisoners. Incarcerated in 1960 at the age of eighteen for a $70 gas station robbery, Jackson was given an indeterminate sentence of one year to life. His staunch disobedience to prison rules and officials, along with his principled and visceral hatred of confinement, spurred Jackson's political and intellectual transformation within the prison. As his political stature among California inmates grew, Jackson became a liability to state authority through his profound effectiveness as an organizer and educator of fellow prisoners-in fact, one can still find many (formerly) imprisoned and free people who testify to Jackson's mentorship as integral to their political formation. This praxis essentially guaranteed that Jackson would never again see the light of the outside, and his brutal, open execution on the concrete ground of San Quentin prison emblazoned the logic of state repression in spectacular fashion. It is an ironic, perhaps fitting testament to Jackson's lasting political legacy that a wall in the San Quentin prison "museum" contains a mounted trophy case of the high-powered rifle that killed him on August 21, 1971, along with a bronze plaque enshrining the name of the guard who pulled the trigger.
George Jackson was, in many ways, the personification of Frantz Fanon's paradigmatic "native intellectual." In Fanon's terms, Jackson's widely read Soledad Brother and Blood In My Eye became "literatures of combat," serving dual capacities as theoretical texts and mobilizing tools. Close analysis of Jackson's knowledge production reveals a general congruence with the third, revolutionary "phase" of Fanon's developmental conception of the revolutionary native intellectual:

"Finally in the third phase, which is called the fighting phase, the native, after having tried to lose himself in the people and with the people, will on the contrary shake the people. Instead of according the people's lethargy an honored place in his esteem, he turns himself into an awakener of the people; hence comes a fighting literature, a revolutionary literature, and a national literature. During this phase a great many men and women who up till then would never have thought of producing a literary work, now that they find themselves in exceptional circumstances-in prison, with the Maquis, or on the eve of their execution-feel the need to speak to their nation, to compose the sentence which expresses the heart of the people, and to become the mouthpiece of a new reality in action."

As Jackson found political agency in abrogating the image of the depersonalized, silent, debased prisoner, he recognized his own incarceration as the logical outcome of a collective plight. The destiny of human expendables, the surplus people left to languish under the advance of white supremacist capital, was death, addiction, unemployment, and mass warehousing. Jackson consistently articulated the tortured severity of his relation to the world in these terms, stating and re-stating the essential dialectic of capital that rendered antagonism, deviance, and disobedience the most generalized mode of existence for people like himself:

"...that's the principal contradiction of monopoly capital's oppressive contract. The system produces outlaws. It also breeds contempt for the oppressed. Accrual of contempt is its fundamental survival technique. This leads to the excesses and destroys any hope of peace eventually being worked out between the two antagonistic classes, the haves and the have-nots. Coexistence is impossible, contempt breeds resistance, and resistance breeds brutality, the whole growing in spirals that must either end in the uneconomic destruction of the oppressed or the termination of oppression."

This epistemology of resistance and antagonism structured Jackson's political praxis. It was precisely his refusal of an idealized, hopeful "peace" (along with a pedagogical willingness to articulate the grounds of his refusal) that may have made his political assassination virtually inevitable. Jackson believed that the structural inevitability of state repression formed a condition of resistance for prisoners and free people alike. Yet, embracing this condition could produce an existential suicide-the necessary condition for declaring war on power.

"This monster-the monster they've engendered in me will return to torment its maker, from the grave, the pit, the profoundest pit. Hurl me into the next existence, the descent into hell won't turn me. I'll crawl back to dog his trail forever. They won't defeat my revenge, never, never. I'm part of a righteous people who anger slowly, but rage undamned. ...I'm going to charge them reparations in blood. ...This is one nigger who is positively displeased. I'll never forgive, I'll never forget, and if I'm guilty of anything at all it's of not leaning on them hard enough. War without terms."

For George Jackson, the historic possibility of forging a utopic "new reality" could only emerge from the corporeal ashes of those who dared challenge the corporate state's programmatic killing of oppressed people in and outside the U.S. It was this imagination of a righteous political death, a glorified descent into hell mandated by a social formation that fed on the bodies of disobedients and disposables, that allowed for the creative rearticulation of the imminent, violent consequence of repression.

5 out of 5 stars A touching look into the struggle of 70s revolutionaries........1998-07-27

This book offers an excellent, honest portrayal of the day to day reality of 70s black revolutionairies and it can be promised that once you begin reading, you will rush to the end.

This book takes you to the heart of the Black Power movement and is so intriguing because it is written by someone who lived, and died for a cause in which he believed.

So often books or studies that focus on this specific facet of the civil rights era dillute the reality of the moment, because they are writing from a mere spectator's point of view, rather than from the perspective of actual participants.

For this reason, this book should be a must read for anyone studying the Black Panther Party--if they want to know the principles, beliefs and hopes of the people.

                                    Book Description

Minus one eye, and a promising military career in ruin after being brutally assaulted by my elder brother, I strayed to the verge of insanity. Fearing a bloody reprisal would tarnish my fatherÂ's reputable business name, I was conveniently exiled from the family home in England out of the way, to a life of self-reliance in Africa. Without friends or relatives at the end of the line, trade papers or a job, and little money, the future looked bleak. After thirteen adventurous years steeped in mystery, suspense, and a peppering of steamy sexual encounters, failing eyesight forced me back to England. Believing IÂ'd returned to even the score with my brother, several family members embarked upon a damning witch-hunt to destroy me before it could happen. But after five miserable years of hell on earth, trapped beneath a persecuting shadow of prolonged rejection and emotional torture, I emerged from a cocoon of mental madness to become their worst ever nightmare.

1 out of 5 stars Manuscript rather than a Book.......2006-02-24

This has to be the worst 'book' I have ever read. It has a very splintered story line and written in an almost child like format. The spelling/grammar/punctuation is questionable. This book being printed through Publish Britannica (Publish America) is nothing more than a printed story rather than a published book.

Frank Carver, the author of this book, is a close friend of mine. I was one of the editors of this particular manuscript here in the states. Publish America misrepresented their publishing policy to Frank. He took out a patent on this work in England, where he resides. Now, Publish America is selling HIS book and he is not getting ANY royalties.

I believe people should check the validity of their sales before advertising.

His CURRENT, RECENT rewrite of the book with this title is EXCEPTIONAL!

Experimentation with armored cars by the American military goes back to 1898. Today, the armored car is once again back in favor as the Marine Corps and U.S. Army look for economical solutions for the third-world battlefields of today and tomorrow.

Another winner from Mr. Hunnicutt. I will purchase a book sight unseen merely on his reputation. This is a subject that was crying out for the "Hunnicutt" treatment. If this is indeed, sadly, his final book in the series, then it is a fitting finale, adding yet more luster to an already sterling legacy.

5 out of 5 stars 10th and last, another winner.......2002-10-17

Hunnicutt's foward states that this is the last of 10 books he has done covering American armor. That saddens me, as there is no one else out there producing the quality of books on armored vehicles. I own 9 of 10 and am looking for the one of them to complete my collection.

As always, the book is pricey. As always, it's worth it. He starts out with a review of pre ww1, ww1 armored cars. There is extensive coverage of perhaps the most famous armored cars, the M3 Scout. There are many excellent photos and line drawings of the M3 as well as experimental armored cars in WWII, post WWII era. The M8, M20, Commando get their due attention.

I would really liked to have seen more of the interior photos and line drawings of the experimental Twister and LAV.

Having said that, all serious collectors and students of armored vehicles, run, dont walk to get this before it goes out of print. I know, I made that mistake with the book on the heavy tank M103 and am still looking for it!

                                          Book Description

Since its appearance twenty years ago, Benjamin R. Barber's Strong Democracy has been one of the primary standards against which political science thinking and writing is measured. Defined as the participation of all of the people in at least some aspects of self-government at least some of the time, Strong Democracy offers liberal society a new way of thinking about and of practicing democracy. Contrary to the commonly held view that an excess of democracy can undo liberal institutions, Barber argues that an excess of liberalism has undermined our democratic institutions and brought about the set of crises we still find ourselves struggling against: cynicism about voting, alienation, privatization, and the growing paralysis of public institutions. In a new preface Barber looks at the past twenty years and restates his argument, which seems, sadly, more pressing than ever.

                                          4 out of 5 stars Strong Idealism.......2004-04-05

As a student of politics I found this book intriguing. Barber's understanding of the importance of small-town/local bureaucracy is something missing from our liberal democratic understanding of politics. Barber draws from many different schools of Social Contract Theory, making a well rounded argument--until he hits national politics. His argument is interesting, and although it would never be realistically applicable in it's entirety--portions of his argument could be used to manage the socio-economic stratification issues in the United States. Barber is a good read for those interested in interpreting contemporary politics from a traditional standpoint, in new and innovative ways.

3 out of 5 stars Too strong? Only a dreamer?.......2002-12-18

As shown in the title, this book has a strong message. Actually, it is too strong.
The definition of strong democracy is extremely narrow and idealistic. According to the book, unbelievably, Pateman's position (about participatory (industry) democracy) is also thin democracy.
It seems a book for dreamers.
But, the interesting point is that the strong democracy which the author proposed may fit well with the current IT society. The final section of this book is still meaningful for us in 21th century.

5 out of 5 stars Strong versus Thin Democracy.......2002-08-10

Beginning with a frontal attack on the liberal democratic theory, which is grounded on and ramified from epistemological premises that are largely pre-historical and pre-theoretical, and stretching to the practical propositions aiming and helping to create a new sense of citizenship and community, Barber produces a masterpiece that can be perused over and over again. Well cognizant of the problems created by the heavy emphasis of liberal democratic theory on atomized individualism, through which social system is deemed not more than the competing atoms who are presupposed in permanent fight to all others, Barber packages his arguments in a highly pragmatic bag that goes far beyond the kind of demagogic platitude.

I read a number of books whose focus is on how to develop a strong democracy in both national and grass-roots levels, some of which are set on either pure theory or practice lacking ideational power. Strong democracy discerns itself from those that were written in the similar veins in that Barber knits all his arguments together cleverly based on both epistemological and practical weaknesses of what he objects, from which Barber's thesis comes, and practical ways toward and the tools for what he advocates: strong democracy.

Barber persuasively displays the importance of citizenship that is closely linked to and associated with the active engagement and participation in the affairs of community to promote the betterment of the commune of which individual citizen is a part. As a response to the unceasing preoccupation of liberal theory with pre-historical and pre-theoretical epistemology taken to practice, Barber points to the very import of community that defines the specifics and boundaries of what liberal theory takes for granted such as liberty and equality, so, the community is rendered much more than the mere sum of individual interests. That is, community is designated as a medium that is congenial to create new perspectives passing beyond the interests and ideas of individual citizens. Barber comes up with a vision under which free individuals of community would convene for the purpose of revealing and dialoguing the common problems facing the community. The community in Barber's vision is a pragmatic one, hardly dependent on any overarching set of pre-historical principles.

The book is organized around ten chapters, the first five of which deal with the core assumptions and frames (pre-conceptual, epistemological and psychological frames) of liberal theory, thereby Barber displays how liberal theory has misguided the practice of democracy in the twentieth century, with consequences being the anomie on the part of citizens and thin democracy in general. The last five chapters are spent for developing theory for strong democracy, the kind of democracy sharing less commonality with liberal representative democracy. In the lexicon of the book, the more the individual participates in the affairs of community, the more the individual becomes a citizen, so that politics for him/her becomes a way of living rather than a meaningless ritual. Therefore, representative government changes itself into the self-governing by community. For reaching what Barber offers, there is a number of very interesting propositions in the book that target at developing a powerful sense of active citizenship and community. The argument of Barber resembles how Danish scholar Bent Flyvbjerg (in Rationality and Power, 1998) depicts democracy: democracy as a form of governing that is fought for, day in and day out, to make it work rather than being a final point that is obtained for once and retained forever. Politics, of course, stands for the daily activity on the part of citizens for making democracy work.

Although a meticulously woven and spellbindingly presented theory of strong democracy this book is, I recommend, it should be read together with two important books, of which the first is "The Idea of Civil Society" by Adam Seligman, therein the importance of individualism-to which Barber objects with cautionary reservation-for both the sustenance and promotion of equality and pluralism as an antidote (or balance) to the exclusionary tendency of communitarian solidarity, is stressed. The other book is "Making Democracy Work" by Robert Putnam in which the interrelationship between active civic engagement and high performance governance is empirically documented by which elucidates how "enlightened self-interest" ought to be understood in the relational context of community-citizen interaction.

Yet, you can find some points in the book to which you would be in opposition, you may try to complement the creative and frank vision of Barber by chinking in further, of course, If you "will". This is a highly recommended classic by all standards.

As an ex cattle rancher who spent way too much time (as did my employees) trying to get similar ideas across to the BLM I find this book to be incredibly refreshing. Ranchers, environmentalists and government range managers should be required to read this book. Daggett is to be commended for having the guts to take on this monumental change in attitude amongst all those named above and he's proved his point. Ranchers need to face the fact that they can change their ways for the betterment of all and evironmentalits and government range managers need to open their eyes to the fact that we are never again going to have the rangelands we had 200 years ago. But, with this approach, we can have the best of both worlds for the range, the ranchers and the public. We can also redirect the incredible amount of time, money and effort that is wasted on the wars between all involved to more productive, peaceful and productive pursuits.
