Book Description
Kernel Fleck has always known he's weird. He sees lights. Strange, multi-colored patches of light, swirling through the air. But it's not until a window opens into a demon world, with horrific consequences, that Kernel discovers his powers. As a Disciple, his mission is to hunt vicious, powerful demons to the death...
Customer Reviews:
One of the best books I've ever read! .......2007-04-23
Demon Thief is about a teenage boy named Kernel Fleck who grew up in a big city with his little brother Art and his mom and dad. One day he wakes up and his brother Art is missing. Then a portal opens up above his bed and a demon appears and kidnaps him. The next day he reappears in his bed with his brother Art. His parents are so scared they flee the city with Kernel and Art, moving to a small country town far away from the big city.
When school starts in the town, Kernel has to go whether he wants to or not. Shortly after school starts, his parents decide to leave on vacation, leaving Kernel and his brother with a neighbor. One day when he's at school an old woman shows up and summons a portal to the Demonata universe, unleashing demons upon the school children. One of the demons steals Art and runs back into the Demonata, forcing Kernel to chase after him.
Once Kernel lands in the Demonata he finds a group of humans calling themselves "The Disciples." They are demon hunters and Kernel must join forces with them to find his little brother Art. Shortly after entering the Demonata, he notices he has certain powers. One of them is being able to open a portal any where at any time to any place using floating light fragments that only he and a few other people can see.
Kernel and the Disciples chase the demon that has Art all the way to a castle in the Demonata. When they get there a demon master comes out to meet them. A demon master is a king of demons and is more powerful than a normal demon. This demon master is called Lord Loss and he says that for Kernel to get his brother back, Kernel must find out the name of the demon thief who stole Art.
Lord Loss teleports Kernel, and a few of the Disciples, into a giant maze where Kernel must find the demon thief, and find out his true name. Kernel finds the demon thief and guesses his name, but he guesses wrong. Lord Loss reveals the demon thief's true name: "Kernel." Kernel had stolen Art from the Demonata, while Kernel was asleep, because he wanted a brother, but Art is really a demon.
Kernel goes home to find out that his parents have moved on and tried to forget about Kernel leaving. But when Kernel shows up, they don't know how to deal with it. So soon after Kernel's reappearance his parents hint that they don't want him, and that they wish he had never come back. So Kernel takes the hint and leaves to go back to the leader of the Disciples. The leader tells Kernel that Kernel is one of the pieces that make up the Kah-Gash. The Kah-Gash is the one weapon powerful enough to destroy the demons forever.
Oh! Quite a Thriller.......2007-03-24
The thrilling and daring style of Darren Shan has made this book quite the book!!
Cetainly, if I like it you'll like it too.
Demon thief.......2007-01-16
Surprised as a was this book, the second of the serie, had another main caracther, I got the point. In this book you learn more about the world of the Demonata, through another view.
Like the first one, this book also has a slow start. But once it has started, it never really stops. This just is a great book. Even better than the first!
Book was as good as other 2, but 1st and 3rd a little better.......2006-12-01
Still a marvelous book, Demon Theif catches the minds, ears, and eyes of many readers. Amazing details shows the action, and you can hear the anger and hatred in the book. You feel lonely when the characters do, and you pee your pants when your scared. This book was awesome, and DO NOT SKIP THIS BOOK IF YOU READ THE DEMONATA, ITS REALLY GOOD.

A Great Translation.......2004-08-25
Burton (a nineteenth-century expert on Eastern and Arabic scholarly issues) presents here a wonderful translation with footnotes explaining customs, the derivation of certain words, and other minutae. His introduction is thorough and appropriate and his storytelling retains a good rhythmic quality. His devotion to his subject cannot but be admired, and his care in translating all of the stories without abridgement is fabulous. By far the best edition of Alf Layla wa Layla that I have ever encountered.

Restless Wind: The Legendary Billy Joe Shaver: 1973-1987
ASIN: 0292706138 |
Book Description
"Billy Joe Shaver may be the best songwriter alive today.
Willie Nelson
"He's as real a writer as Hemingway. He's timeless."
Kris Kristofferson, quoted in the
Dallas Morning News
"[Billy Joe Shaver] was and is that rarest of talents, an utterly distinctive, impeccably honest writer of songs."
Grant Alden,
No Depression
"Billy Joe is unique. One of a kind. They threw away the mold. The best!"
Robert Duvall
Willie Nelson says "Billy Joe Shaver may be the best songwriter alive today," and legions of fans agree that Billy Joe is the real deal. Many describe his songs as pure poetry. Shaver sings about a life that's been full of hard times, wild living, and a forty-year-long passion for his late wife Brenda. His songs are raw, honest, and so true that people hear the story of their own lives in his music. No wonder, then, that his songs have also been recorded by artists such as Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, George Jones, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Patty Loveless, John Anderson, Tom T. Hall, the Allman Brothers, the Oak Ridge Boys, and Tex Ritter.
In this compelling autobiography written with the assistance of Brad Reagan, Billy Joe Shaver looks back over a life that some might call a miracle of survival. His father abandoned the family before Billy Joe was born. Troubles in school and in the military turned him into a fighter, and a sawmill accident claimed two fingers and part of a third on his right hand. Yet his innate musical talent and the encouragement of an English teacher set him on the road to being a songwriterand he never looked back. Shaver recounts his long struggle to break into the music business in Nashville and the success that came when Waylon Jennings recorded his songs on the 1973 album
Honky Tonk Heroes, which became a landmark of outlaw country music. Shaver movingly describes his own thirty-year, up-and-down career as a singer-songwriter in Nashville and Texas, his bouts with alcohol and drugs, his pleasure in touring with his son Eddy and their band Shaver during the 1990s, and the pain of losing Eddy, Brenda, and Billy Joe's mother all within the year 1999-2000.
As full of life, heartbreak, and drama as any of Billy Joe Shaver's songs,
Honky Tonk Hero is the story of a man who not only walked on the wild side and lived to tell about it, but also got it all down in songs that many people consider to be some of the finest country music ever written.
Customer Reviews:
Old Chunk of Coal.......2007-05-01
People must read this book! I must say I did not know much about Billy Joe before reading this but it is clear that this man can teach everyone the true lessons of life. Billy Joe is someone who has truly lived a life and shares it with people in his poems about it:
"When you get down to it country music is essentially the blues, and my whole life the blues have never left me. I've lost parts of 3 fingers, broke my back, suffered a heart attack and a quadruple bypass, had a steel plate put in my neck and 136 stitches in my head, fought drugs and booze, spent the money I had, and burried my wife, son, and mother in the span of 1 year.
"But I'm not here to complain or ask for pity. Life is hard for everybody, just in different ways. I'm not proud of my misfortune--I'm proud of my survival. For years my family kept a kept a bundle of life insurance on me because they were sure I would be the first to go. But as I write this, at 64 years of age, I'm still here and they are all gone." (p.viii)
The actual story is short, but it is very weighty at the same time. You will ponder and grin at every word while he tells his life's story. And after that you will listen to every word of his poems (lyrics) as a glimpse into this mans soul.
There is no need to complain about the brevity of Billy Joe's life story (75 pages). As I said It is very heavy and will surely put you into a different place in time, through the eyes of a man who has lived through it all and is alive still to tell about it; into the soul of a life that only a handful know and countless dream about.
Straight forward and honest, just like the man.......2006-11-04
I have been a fan of Billy Joe's for over thirty years and enjoyed getting to know the background of a unique songwriter and fellow Texan. Although short, this was an entertaining read. A bonus for songwriters like myself, is the section with the lyrics for all of Billy Joe's best known songs. A neat side note- I got my book autographed after a recent concert in Tyler, Texas. Long live Billy Joe Shaver and Texas Music.
IT WAS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE.......2006-07-11
The book was like Billy Joe's music; honest and to the point. It was great reading about his relationships with Waylon and other country stars. The lyrics to all his songs was a wonderful bonus. I only wished there was more.
Not much to the book.......2006-04-15
The book description says 207 pages, but only the first 72 pages are the actual book. The rest of the pages are just lyrics. As one reviewer said "you can read this in one sitting". True, but for $12.97 I guess you can't really complain.
Great little book.......2006-02-17
YOu can read this book in one setting... and it's a winner. Lot's of down home stuff mixed with some very good stories about his growing up. I was amazed he survived the whole music scene and still lives today producing some excellent songs and music. A must read if you admire Billy Joe...

Book Description
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt and Lockheed P-38 Lightning were vastly different designs, but both these aircraft served with distinction in the fighter escort and fighter-bomber role across Europe and the Pacific. The mighty Thunderbolt was easily the heaviest single-engined fighter to see operational service in World War II, attracting the nickname `Juggernaut' (soon abbreviated to `Jug') by its pilots. The P-38 offered twin-engine security and packed a devastating punch with its closely grouped combination of cannon and machine guns. Michael O'Leary's magnificent air-to-air studies of the surviving airworthy aircraft.
Customer Reviews:
A great coffee table picture book, albeit paperback........1999-09-22
Its difficult to rate a book like this. If you're looking for a great large picture format book with a few specs and some short stories, then it gets a 4 rating... its paperback, 5 if it were hard cover. However, if you compare it to others with volumes of text and vaste details then I'd rate it a 2. Surely, a warm and fuzzy photo-book. One final note - it is refreshing to find a book combining the first two key Allied fighters capable of projecting air power deep into Fortress Europe. With their brothers, the British Spirfire and Huricane on defense for England, these four aeroplanes held and then pushed back the full might of German air power. A good book.

Bill O’Reilly is even madder today than when he wrote his last book, The O’Reilly Factor, and his fans love him even more. He’s mad because things have gone from bad to worse in politics, in Hollywood, in every social stratum of the nation. True to its title, The No Spin Zone cuts through all the rhetoric that some of O’Reilly’s most infamous guests have spewed to expose what’s really on their minds, while sharing plenty of his own emphatic counterpoints along the way.
Shining a searing spotlight on public figures from President George W. Bush and Senator Hillary Clinton to the Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to his former CBS News colleague Dan Rather, The No Spin Zone is laced with the kind of straight-shooting commentary that has made O’Reilly the voice of middle America’s disenfranchised.

On the heels of his runaway New York Times bestseller (more than one million copies in print) Bill O'Reilly delivers another strong dose of no-holds-barred advice for America.
Bill O'Reilly is even madder than when he wrote his mega-bestseller The O'Reilly Factor—and his fans love him even more. He's mad because things have gone from bad to worse, in politics, in Hollywood, in every social stratum in the nation. True to its title, The No Spin Zone cuts through all the rhetoric that some of O'Reilly's most infamous guests have spewed to expose what's really on their minds, while sharing plenty of his own emphatic counterpoints along the way.
Shining a searing spotlight on everyone from Dubya to Susan Sarandon to Chyna to Dick Morris, The No Spin Zone is laced with the kind of straight-shooting commentary that has made O'Reilly the voice of middle America's disenfranchised. Examining Medicare with the same feistiness as the death penalty (which he opposes), The No Spin Zone delivers not only O'Reilly's opinion, but the documented attitudes of the country's movers and shakers as well. It demonstrates just why O'Reilly has become the most successful, the most controversial, the most beloved (by some), and the most disliked (by others) figure in television news today—and a culture hero to tens of millions of everyday Americans. And that's fact, not spin.
"[O'Reilly] is the Real McCoy. He's the best reporter I've seen in years . . . He is smart, well-read, has good values . . . and he is fearless in picking targets."

O'Reilly's Enhanced Transcript,.......2007-10-10
Bill O'Reilly, a television Commentator, shares his criticism of American society today. In this book he includes sixteen different topics where he shares two sides, his views and those of an individual who is deeply involved with the pertinent issue at hand. Thereby leaving us to decide which side of the debate we agree with. Though he does set up each of the topics with commentary. If you have watched Mr. O'Reilly's television show you will recognize all of these debates. Among the relevant issues debated in this book include or are with George W. Bush, Hillary Clinton, Jesse Jackson, pedophiles, sex, violence, capital punishment, taxes, drugs, and more. Each chapter stands alone, so you do not need to read this book sequentially. Chose a topic that interest you and keep your own score on who won the debate. The book does have some strong language. I bumped it up to 4 stars from three for this is a quick and easy read. So read it and make up your own mind.
no spin zone.......2007-09-20
Bill wrote a great book.No Spine Zone was terrific. My grandma read it to me and explained and answered my questions.
Thanks Bill for a great book.
Tells it like it is!.......2007-07-28
Nothing to do with politics people, just look at what he says. He tells it how it is, not trying to produce well crafted lies in order to make you think he knows what is best for you (libtards) yeah. So if you do not like living here then hop on a raft and paddle to CUBA!! Seriously, if you hate America so much, get to paddling! Bill does not say it is perfect, he just shows how stupid some of these powerful and famous people are. I wish someone would sneeze in Rosie's soup though she is getting annoyed.
YAY! More condescending tones and hipocracy please!.......2007-04-09
I absolutely loved Bill's use of alcohol to aid his research for this book! I think that Mr.O'Reilly is an icon of our time: a working class man who fights for the people. And by people I mean other $2000-suit-wearing, hypocritical conservatives who phone in lewd messages to their co-workers and who somehow still manage to have a show that attracts millions of other sheep every day. He truly has helped me see the light such as informing me about how hip-hop is the worst part of America, even though my original thought was that it might be overpaid douchebags who need to stop complaining about the constitutional cornerstones such as freedom of speech while declaring themselves patriots who fight for the people. Thanks for clearing that up once again Bill. O'Reilly in '08!
Another A+ for O-Reilly.......2007-03-23
Full of insightful information. Even when his critics are quite harsh, he shares positive statements about them as well as offering his perspective on the matter. Highly recommended, but only conservatives will enjoy it. Secular progressives will use it to take quotes out of context and spin them to use against him. Typical M.O. of S-P's.

Book Description
Habitat fragmentation is one of the most ubiquitous and serious environmental threats confronting the long-term survival of plant and animal species worldwide. As species become restricted to remnant habitats, effective management for long-term conservation requires a quantitative understanding of the genetic and demographic effects of habitat fragmentation, and the implications for population viability. This book provides a detailed introduction to the genetic and demographic issues relevant to the conservation of fragmented populations such as demographic stochasticity, genetic erosion, inbreeding, metapopulation biology, and population viability analysis. The volume presents case studies on animals and plants, which illustrate a variety of approaches to examining long-term population viability. Some of the approaches include the application of molecular genetic markers, the investigation of reproductive biology, and the combination of demographic monitoring and modeling.

New knowledge in the biology of fragmentedpopulations.......2001-03-06
This book is a very important contribution to the understanding of the fragmented populations including forest trees. It will help to know more about the viability and survival of species under deforested and human affected environments. Provides new updated biological information to help in the management of fragmented forests.
