Somewhat Disappointed.......1999-10-03
Given a chance to do it over, I would order one of the other gay guides available for Amsterdam.
Much of this guide deals with Amsterdam in general, and does a particularly non-stellar job of it. The limited information on the gay scene leaves me wondering, still, why is Amsterdam the gay Mecca that it is.
This guide might be adequate for the first time visitor looking for the addresses of some clubs, but, then, that information is readily available from the web. I had hoped to learn more. I suppose my expectations were just too high.

Book worm review.......2006-11-23
This book was awsome. I personal liked the first story better which was about a boy with cf who meets a girls with a brain tumor. They grow to love each other and deal with intense problems. But the boy dies and the girls feels alone and empty. The second book takes up from the first book. The girls moves to an island and meets a boy with nothing wrong. The become friends but the girls tumer is worse than ever and she doesn't know if she will live even another minute.'
Incredible !!.......2005-10-08
I have been always hooked on LM Books and I have to say this is one of her best. I couldn't put the book down and I finished the book in the middle of the night. My opinion it is a must read. It is sad and heartwarming the same time.
Lovely, Everyone should read this book.......2005-08-22
OMG im totally speechless, or wordless if u think of it really
A disappointment.......2005-01-24
When I was reading the summary of this book, I thought it sounded like a great book. Much to my dissatisfaction, it turned out to be a terrible book. The author moved the stoyr along much to quickly, and it wasn't anywhere near deep, considering the plot. The author didn't draw me into the book. I wish I'd not spent my $10.00 on the book and won't be buying anymore from this author.
Totally Magical...brought me to tears...........2004-08-25
I first began reading LM's books a few days ago, and before I know it, I'm hogging every single one of her books I can find from the library!!!!! I'm SOOOOOO into her books that my parents think I should hold down on the reading and do a little more of what they call "outdoor activities." Well, the two novels in this book touched my heart and brought me to a whole new meaning of life. I realized how special I was to not have a disease or illness, that I'm lucky to be in great health. All of LM's books showed me that, but of all her books, this one I found full of love and beauty. April Lancaster found her true love, Mark, and won't let go of him now that they're together. He showed her how to fight for life and from death and to always find hope. But when Mark has a terrible accident, April becomes all alone. Full of grief, she decides to leave for a little vacation spot to keep her mind off Mark's death, where she meets Brandon. I won't say anymore; you'll just have to find out what happens when you read this book! I really love this book and treasure it as my own. Once I finished this book, I couldn't stop my eyes from weeping. It was so sad, yet full of happiness. Please read these heartwarming stories and I guarantee, You'll Be Very Amazed as if you were just given a Gift From God.

Book Description
Historically, reproductive science has focused on reproductive behaviors divorced from the contexts in which they occur. Taking a more integrated view, this book explores the neuroendocrine bases of reproduction in relation to their environmental and social contexts. The contributors provide compelling accounts of reproductive behaviors in animals ranging from turtles and lizards to humans and nonhuman primates. They examine these behaviors from the perspectives of ethology, endocrinology, behavioral genetics, and evolutionary ecology. Together, they illuminate the dynamic interplay between the ecological and social contexts of a species and the biological mechanisms regulating reproductive behavior. The book shows how an appreciation of the full complexity of the context of reproduction actually simplifies and clarifies our understanding of reproductive behavior.

Book Description
Loss networks ensure that sufficient resources are available when a call arrives. However, traditional loss network models for telephone networks cannot cope with today's heterogeneous demands, the central attribute of Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) networks. This requires multiservice loss models.
This publication presents mathematical tools for the analysis, optimization and design of multiservice loss networks. These tools are relevant to modern broadband networks, including ATM networks. Addressed are networks with both fixed and alternative routing, and with discrete and continuous bandwidth requirements. Multiservice interconnection networks for switches and contiguous slot assignment for synchronous transfer mode are also presented.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Monography.......1999-10-23
This monography touches upon several aspects of loss networks: computation of product form probabilities, Erlang and Montecarlo approximation to loss probability, routing and admission decision. It very readable and summarizes the work done in the past 20 year, especially by Frank Kelly. The target application is ATM networks. One possible drawback of the approach used here is that the effective bandwidth of a session is assumed known a priori. In practice this approach has not been very effective, and alternative decision rules (e.g. measurement-based effective bandwidth) have been explored. Practical relevance of the approach aside, this is an excellent book.

Book Description
Mathematical methods based on the theory of stochastic processes have long been used effectively in telephone traffic modeling. Today's modern network traffic, which is distinctly different from traditional voice traffic, generates challenging mathematical and statistical problems. Stochastic Modeling in Broadband Communications Systems provides a concise overview of stochastic models and mathematical techniques for solving these problems and enhances readers' overall understanding of communication systems. The book also presents an excellent introduction, particularly for students and professionals in probability and applied mathematics, to a huge area of interesting problems and models arising from modern developments in broadband channel transmission systems.

This commentary interprets the poetic methods and intentions of the Aeneid, and explains not only what Virgil says but how he says it and why he says it in the particular way which he chooses. The limitations and similarities of diction from English poets are frequently quoted, especially from Spenser and Milton, because this can illuminate the literary impact of the Vergilian passage. Preface Introduction 1 Life and works of Virgil 2 Virgil and Augustus 3 The legend of Aeneas 4 Sources of the Aeneid 5 Synopsis of the Aeneid 6 Structure and themes 7 Virgil s hexameter 8 The manuscripts of the Aeneid and the ancient commentators 9 Differences of text between this edition and Mynors and Hirtzel 10 Bibliography TEXT Commentary Index to the notes
Customer Reviews:
an incredibly helpful text.......2007-09-05
The first time I had ever read Vergil, I used this book, and the notes were essential to my understanding of what was going on. When I used it for another class on the Aeneid, years later, I had a much better grasp of the grammar, vocabulary and plot, and I found myself far better prepared than some of my classmates because I chose to use this edition instead of a naked text with no notes. The notes are useful for beginners and more advanced students of Latin, and I believe that even people who are secure in their knowledge of the Latin language will learn a thing or two from these notes. I really appreciated that the notes will tell you when Vergil is referring to a Homeric passage.

Pharr's acclaimed edition has never been surpassed in quality and utility. The book includes an introduction, notes, vocabulary, and appendix.
Customer Reviews:
Latin students will enjoy this "Pharr Out" edition of the Aeneid.......2007-03-17
This Latin textbook provides the first half of the Aeneid in Latin, along with plenty of footnotes and appendices to guide you as you translate the great epic. Each page contains five to fifteen lines of the Aeneid, and the remaining two-thirds of each page contains the vocabulary, grammar notes, and miscellaneous footnotes. You never need to turn a page or refer to another dictionary, so the tedious aspect of translating is removed. (My fellow students love this awesome aspect and therefore call it the "Pharr Out" edition.) The appendices provide all the grammar rules you may have forgotten or have yet to learn. Beginner and Intermediate Latin students can't go wrong with this book if they need or want to tackle Virgil's Aeneid.
Pharr's Aeneid.......2007-03-09
This book is a great guide when translating the Aeneid. It has all of the poetic figures, grammatical notes, and vocabulary one needs for preparation for the AP Latin test.
Problematic Annotations.......2006-11-04
I have found this text to be helpful, although at times somewhat misleading. Pharr's edition of Virgil's Aeneid is renowned for its extensive annotations throughout the entirety of the text (intended to assist students as well as intermediate translators). At times these annotations are more harmful than helpful. Many are either unclear or offer too much impertinent information. For this reason, students often miss the relevant information contained within and simply accept Pharr's translations of various phrases/words without actually translating for themselves.
5 Stars or more!.......2005-05-12
I recommend this book for any Latin 3, or Ap Class! The vocabulary fold out in the back is very useful! Although some may argue Barbara Boyd's Book 10 and 12 Pallas and Turnus book is exactly the same, the vocabulary lists are scarce. Pharr also has vocabulary on the pages you are translating, that do not occur as often. He also has interesting points that refer to the latin in interpretation, and he points out examples of literary devices. This book is EXCELLENT for a latin student in any grade!
The Best of the Best.......2001-03-13
This is by far the best student edition of Vergil's Aeneid I have ever encountered. If you are looking for a textbook to teach the Aeneid, do not hesitate to purchase this one; optimus est!
