Description:
Recent (1996-2002) sampling by the authors of flower visitors in particular in the Richtersveld and Namibia has added considerably to the knowledge of the flower associations of pollen wasps (Vespidae: Masarinae) in southern Africa which prior to that date was largely based on sampling to the south and east of the Richtersveld and Namibia. Their earlier findings that pollen wasps in southern Africa show major preferences (based on number of species visiting a plant taxon) for Aizoaceae and Asteraceae remains unchanged, although in the northwest summer rainfall region the preference is for Aizoaceae: non-Mesembryanthema rather than Mesembryanthema. The preference shown by some for Aptosimeae (Scrophulariaceae) stands throughout the area and that for Hermannia (Malvaceae) is established for the north and southwest. Preferences for Campanulaceae (principally Wahlenbergia) and Cape Crotalarieae (Fabaceae: Papilionoideae) are shown to be restricted to the southwest. Preference for Zygophyllum (Zygophyllaceae) is established for the Richtersveld and Namibia only. Limited preferences for Molluginaceae, Geraniaceae and Boraginaceae, and a single close mutualistic association between two narrow endemics, a pollen wasp and Tylecodon hallii (Tolken) Tolken (Crassulaceae), are demonstrated. A greater degree of casual visiting to a wider range of plant families was recorded for the Richtersveld and Namibia than for the southwest and southeast, however, a high degree of oligophagy to narrow polyphagy is maintained throughout.

LOVE IT!.......2007-08-30
this is i think one of the best summer romances i read. it is so fun! it's totally unpredictable, funny, sweet, smart. jacob is probably every girl's dream. hot, sarcastic, sweet.
It's not those stupid-teen books, there's no stupid mean girls - good girl drama. it's just a journey of a girl who falls in love with the person she never thought she would have feelings for.
i highly recommend.

Cordelia Packer is going to see her sister in northern California, leaving from her home in San Diego, but she doesn't have a travel partner. Until Jacob (Cordelia's older sister's ex-boyfriend), who is totally obnoxious but cute, offers to travel along with her.
Cordelia has the trip all planned out, with an itinerary -- there are even scheduled rest stops. This is how she does everything.
But that's not how Jacob does anything! He likes to take his time and not rush through anything. Cordelia knows that the trip is off to a bad start when Jacob shows up at noon when he was supposed to be there at nine!
While they are in the desolate, California desert -- the car breaks down. How will perfectionist Cordelia and wild child Jacob handle the situation? And will Cordelia be able to stay faithful to her perfect boyfriend?
I really liked reading this kind of predictable book. There were enough twists and turns to keep you interested! GETTING LOST WITH BOYS is a very fun book to read while basking in the sun!

Book Description
Hardbound. In Postmodern Malpractice, Colleen Clements presents her case for the need to subject the field of bioethics to a critical external analysis apart from the current postmodern assumptions.
Clements argues that, since the 1970s, bioethics has refuted human values in favour of political consensus building. This failure to recognise basic human values in the ethical critique of modern medicine has lead to a dehumanization of the medical system by the field.
In this enthralling volume, Clements proceeds to advocate a naturalistic theory of bioethics that reinstates primary human values.

Book Description
Meet Julia, a wildly successful television producer who appears to have the picture-perfect life. But beneath the surface, things are not as perfect as they seem. Stuck in a loveless relationship with her boyfriend, Mark, Julia thinks a baby is the answer . . . but she may want a baby more than she wants her boyfriend. Maeve, on the other hand, is allergic to commitment. A feisty, red-haired, high-power career girl, she breaks out in a rash every time she passes a stroller. But when her no-strings-attached nightlife leads to an unexpected pregnancy, her reaction may be just as unexpected . . . And then there’s Samantha—happily married and eager to be the perfect June-Cleaver mother. But baby George brings only exhaustion, extra pounds, and marital strife to her once tidy life. Is having an affair with a friend’s incredibly sexy husband the answer?
With Babyville, bestselling author Jane Green applies her golden touch to the next phase of a girl’s life. By turns witty, rollicking, and tender, this sparkling, sexy tale about the complexities of modern motherly love isn’t really a story about babies—it’s about three friends whose lives are suddenly turned upside down by that life-changing event that hangs over the head of every single girl: motherhood.
Customer Reviews:
Baby, Baby-Who Wants a Baby.......2006-12-14
This book details three acquaintances and their stance on motherhood.
Julia wants a baby. She and longtime live-in boyfriend Mark have been trying to get pregnant for almost a year, but it is taring their relationship apart. One day things go to far and they decide to separate. Julia goes to America with her friend and starts to heal after she thinks that she can not have children and finds a potential for love in Jack.
Meave had always said that she did not want to get tied down with a baby. Then the night that Mark and Julia break up Meave and Mark have a fling that ends with Meave pregnant. They start spending time together to sort things out and end up in love.
Sam is Julia's best friend. She adores her son George, but is not quite enamored with her husband. Then she and her husband get together with another couple and she fancies herself in love with the man. She also ends up meeting Meave and her daughter and the two become friends even though Meave "stole" mark from Julia. At the end Sam and her husband work things out and at a birthday dinner gets a call from Julia asking if she'll be the godmother to Julia's baby with Jack.
Save your time and dont read........2006-12-05
I like the whole concept of the book about motherhood and how Jane Green wrote the stories with 3 perspectives but I did not find any of the characters appealing but rather ridiulous. I forced myself to get through Julia whose character was such a disappointment. She kept on thinking she wanted a baby, just to fix her "loveless" relationship which I dont even know why shes in since she doesnt even care for the guy but all she did was blame him that shes not pregnant. Maeve's story was better and honestly, I did not even want to read Sam's. I basically skimmed it over to get the main point but her character was so annoying. She acted like a child and it basically ruined the whole book for me.
Julia's story is almost the exact same as Carole Matthew's With or Without You
Great.......2006-08-13
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters are easy to relate to and the story goes full circle to weave each of the characters into each other's lives.
This is the first book I've ready by Jane Green and it has convinced me to try her other books. That's a good thing as I usually have a hard time getting "into" a book, but this one was easy to catch onto immediately.
Keep going, it gets better..........2006-07-28
I was about to put this book down after the first 50 pages or so. The plot was ok, but there was nothing to keep me reading. I decided to stick with it, and it started to get much more interesting a bit later.
The thing about this novel that frustrated me at first was the fact that it was broken up into sections. Just as I got into one woman's story, a new section would arise, much to my surprise and disappointment. However, in a very interesting style of story telling, the end result was pleasant.
I would recommend this book if you really like Jane Green, however some of her other novels are more to my liking (i.e. Jemima J).
unrealistic and boring.......2006-07-02
I am in the process of trying to force myself to finish this book after reading the "Julia" segment. I am an avid reader of all types of books, including chick lit, and as the mother of two young children, I had looked forward to some light summer reading about women going through the same phase of life. However, these women are nothing like me or any of the many thirty-something women and mothers that I know. For example, how many women are DESPERATE to get pregnant, and then turn on a dime to go to New York, forget their long term relationship and party like they're fresh out of college? How many thirty three year olds do you know that stay up until well past midnight partying every night and still get up at the crack of dawn to spend an hour at the gym, fully made up and THEN go to work, which just so happens to be a high-power glamorous television job?? Please.
Finally, the writing in this book is so pedestrian it's hard to believe the intended audience is anyone above age 17. Grinning from "ear to ear" and waiting for "Prince Charming." Severe lack of creativity and style here. I sure wish I could get my $13 back for this one...

Customer Reviews:
Fabulous!.......2006-04-04
Green really hits home with this one. While I can't compare myself to any one character completely, I found myself, instead, relating to all three at different times in my life. At the end of the novel, as stories resolve, I found myself with tears in my eyes...wrapping the book up to send through the channels to other friends who need to read and connect with this creative, entertaining and insightful book . A great weekend read or beach book.
Babyville - a town all women want to visit?.......2005-10-11
No, Babyville is not a town, but a state of mind. For 3 different women, those states of mind are very different.
We have Julia who has been trying for 9 months to have a baby in order to save her stuck-in-a-rut relationship. When her tactics don't appear to be working, she heads to New York City to get a break from it all and see if she can get some of her vivacious spirit back.
The next section of the book focuses on Maeve who is perfectly happy using men and then tossing them aside in order to focus on her career and climb the corporate ladder. The sight of children makes her literally sick. When she finds herself in trouble after a one night stand, she must decide if she will keep the baby or get rid of it.
The final section of the story brings all 3 stories together and also focuses on Sam, Julia's best friend, who is suffering from postpartum depression and contemplating an affair.
Jane Green once again uses chick lit to focus on a time of a woman's life that can be full of joy and full of tears. She not only shows the good side that motherhood can bring, but also focuses on the negative sides as well. It is a great story with different points of view and characters that bring those points of view to life. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a little bit of a different twist on their chick lit!
Entertaining.......2005-02-07
I really liked this book, which, believe me, is unusual! I had previously read "Jemima J", and though I don't remember much about it, I know I didn't care much for it. In fact, I was very trepidatious about buying another Jane Green book. But the title intrigued me (as I had recently had a baby myself), so I gave it a try. I'm glad I did. The writing was consistent through the entire book and the characters were likeable. Sure, maybe some of the situations were a little far-fetched, but this isn't epic literature we're talking about. It was an amusing, quick read that I enjoyed from beginning to end.
Babyville was entertaining!.......2005-01-27
This book was fantastic. I have a 9 month old baby and related to every character in one way or another. That's what made it so funny to me! A definate good read, especially if you are staying home with a baby right now, or trying to conceive or have friends who have babies!
this book is terrible!.......2004-12-31
This book is SO badly written, I couldn't even believe it was published. Green's approach to writing consists of introducing her characters and then launching into three or four pages of expository prose about them, their background, their issues, their baggage. She's incapable of revealing her characters through their words and actions alone, so she just outright explains to the reader everything you need to know about them from the get-go, and then tells the (very predictable) story.
And the stories themselves were insultingly simplistic. Apparently, if you are suffering severe, crushing depression, all you really need to do is to move to a new city and get a change of scenery--no need to struggle any further with this overwhelmingly complex and difficult disease, just move to New York! Or, alternatively, suffer a terrible humiliation that reminds you, in the space of a few hours, of why your life is worth living and erases all your misery as if you had never felt it! And the cure for all self-absorbed, career-driven, loveless women is as simple as getting knocked up: then they will spontaneously morph into caring partners, nurturing mothers, selfless helpmeets, totally eradicating the personality they have inhabited for the previous 30 years.
What a load of garbage!

Book Description
A "Girlfriend's Guide" for the new millennium-the one book every working gal needs to read before, during, and after she experiences new motherhood
You're an independent career woman suddenly dropped into the chaos of Babyville. You have a newborn to care for, three months (if you're lucky) of unstructured time to fill, a work decision to make (to go back full-time? part-time? job share?), childcare to acquire, and family finances to balance. You need someone to make you laugh during the hard times, a doctor to call in the middle of the night, and a good career counselor to boot.
Never fear! Sure to become the gold standard resource during that crazy first year, The Working Gal's Guide to Babyville combines stories and sisterly advice from the trenches, infant care information and tips from a pediatrician, and career and budget guidance from a pro. From getting baby to sleep through the night to making the most of maternity leave, from weighing work options to finding childcare, from networking with new parents to emotionally transitioning from "Ms. Independent to Mom," it offers desperately needed, easy-to-execute strategies and expert solutions on all manner of Year One issues. The essential guidebook for today's busy career moms, it's every bit as hip, smart, and savvy as the women who'll be reading it.
Customer Reviews:
Great book!.......2007-08-05
I picked up this book without much research/reading reviews, but was so happy I was lucky with this one. This book is very informative and is funny in tackling tough issues. I particularly enjoyed the parts of the book on making the most of maternity leave, which had useful advice for not feeling alienated or frustrated in the early days. Great for any smart, busy woman who is worried about her new life as a mom!
For women who work in white collar jobs, this is for you!.......2007-07-10
The audience this book is aimed at, to me, seems to be mothers that want to go back to work, but really don't have to. On the plus side, there are great guidelines for dealing with separation anxiety and breastfeeding in public. There is even a highly detailed chapter on how to hire a nanny and get green card clearance. To me, the book is only addressing white collar working women who, honestly, would not suffer much if they'd just stay home and put the same energy into raising their children instead of their tax bracket. So, in the end I give the book an "O.K." rating because of the slanted way it's written. In a way, it's offensive to me.
Straightforward Advice.......2007-05-13
Thought this book was a real help. The author uses great everyday examples when transitioning between topics and illustrating points. Appreciated that the author used a medical professional to aid her in delivering some information. I have read other books where advice was dispensed, and I know my doctor would not agree.
This book saved my life!.......2007-03-30
As a working mom, I was so relieved to find this book that addressed perfectly what I was feeling after my son was born. It really helps you to get through maternity leave. This is great for ANY new mom. But as a working mom, it was exactly what I needed.
A Must Read for Working Moms-to-Be.......2006-12-04
This is the best book I read during my pregnancy/new Mom period. I bought this book while I was 7 months pregnant and so tired of the preachy tone of most of the other pregnancy and baby books that I had read. Yes, this book has great advice on sleeping, feeding, etc, but even more impressively, this book (a) talks about issues that no other books talk about, like reconciling your old self image with your new "Mom" image and (b) tackles issues from deciding between breastfeeding and bottle feeding to deciding whether to return to work in a helpful way that doesn't have any particular agenda. The book is practical, funny, extremely readable, and one that I will recommend to all of my friends.

Customer Reviews:
Surprised.......2005-07-06
I loved Jane Green's Mr. Maybe. So I started reading her other works and have enjoyed them just as much despite the fact that so topics didn't seem all that interesting, at least for me, being a single twenty-something, marriage and babies are something I can really relate to, but I was really surprised that this book was as enjoyable as her others about the single life. Ok, this is chick lit, but it's so much smarter than some of the other stuff that's out there. It's not unrealistic where everyone is beyond beautiful and love-at-first-sight crap. It's well written, with realistic dialogue and characters. I'm surprise no one wrote a review for this novel as for some of her other novels, but rest assured that so far, every book I've read of Ms. Green's is amazing. I've read 7 books by her so far and have not been disappointed by any. Mr. Maybe is still my favorite, but I would re-read all the others in a heart-beat. If you like chick lit, esp. British chick lit, you'll absolutely love this book (and her others too). If you don't like chick lit, you'll still love it. I would also say if you like authors such as Marian Keyes, Sophie Kinsella, Catherine Alliott, and Sarah Webb, then you'll love these as well.

Book Description
New York Times Bestselling Author
Meet Julia, a wildly successful television producer who appears to have the picture-perfect life. Stuck in a loveless relationship with her boyfriend, Mark, Julia thinks a baby is the answer. . . Maeve, on the other hand, is allergic to commitment. But when her no-strings-attached nightlife leads to an unexpected pregnancy, her reaction maybe just as unexpected. And then there's Samantha -- happily married and eager to be the perfect June Cleaver mother. But baby George brings only exhaustion, extra pounds, and marital strife to her once tidy life. Three friends whose lives are suddenly turned upside down by that life-changing event that hangs over the head of every single girl: Motherhood.
