Pack Your Bags and Get Over There!.......2001-07-30
The Lonely Planet guides are excellent for any locale..but this edition (covering Italy, Spain, Greece, France, Portugal and even Morocco) is a must-read for the quintessential backpacker jumping on a plane for Europa. These guides excel at recommending lodging of many price ranges (from youth hostels to 5-star hotels) and meal choices of the same range (excellent recommendation for outdoor markets.."buy a loaf of bread, a block of cheese and a bottle of wine here"..which is a plus as many guides catering to this area focus on only older travels with large budgets..or persons seeking to spend only a dollar a day or some insanity..it's always good to have the most information possible..and it's included here. Entertainments ideas from free plaza and park visiting to museums, discotechqes, architecture, boat rides etc. etc. are included..good for young and old. It even lists culture-sensitve information such as appropriate dress for visiting churches and monasteries as well as travel-safe tips for women. Book your Eurorail pass and get going.
Mediterranea Europe on a shoestring is quite fascinating!.......1998-08-06
Lonely Planet has great books and this one certainly was. It's very thorough and tells alot about things that interest travellers. They are up to date and tell you the pros and cons of the different countries. I liked it alot and I know that other people will too.

Book Description
With Goku almost dead from a virus, only Super Saiyan Vegeta has a chance against the world-destroying androids. But something even worse has come back from the future - something that leaves whole cities empty, eating 50,000 people at a time - something called . . . CELL.
Customer Reviews:
The best volume of the best series!!!!!.......2004-05-02
This is the best Dragonball Z manga book since volume 12. In this graphic novel, Goku has just been stricken by the heart virus, while the Z fighters get their butts kicked by the newly awakned Androids No. 17 & 18. After getting his butt kicked by Android 17, Piccolo goes to Kami-Sama's Palace to fuse with Kami-Sama. But Kami wants to wait to see what will happen...... As seen in Viz's Shonen Jump Magazine. If you don't understand what i'm saying its best to read Vols. 1-13 before this one( they all are pretty good.)
The series continues..........2004-02-05
Before I go into my review proper I would like to ask one question: how in the heck did the Red Ribbon army create androids as strong as #17 and #18 anyway? They couldn't even defeat Goku when he was a (Relatively)wimpy kid and now they got things that can wail on super saiyans? I don't get it. Anyway, on to the review. In this book Dr. Gero gets killed by the androids he awakened in the last volume who then proceed to kick Vegeta's butt. Piccolo fuses with Kami(which seems wierd to me, can a person fuse more than once?) Anyway, an evil alien shows up called Cell and that's pretty much it. I enjoyed reading it but it is probably not my favorite of the series, still it is a very good read for Dragonball Z fans.
the battle begins.......2004-01-11
in this volume the fighting starts.androids 17 and 18 release 16 and kill gero.they then leave for their mission, to kill son goku.while fighting the warriors make a startling discovery a new monster has come.cell has come and is getting more and more powerful.the warriors now have a much much biger fight that is about to start.

DBZee.......2004-03-17
It was interesting in so far as the fact that the book was not very different from the series, I used it to remind myself of the first episodes of DBZee, I would recommend it as a tool to jog the memory ;-))

Book Description
All aerial plant surfaces, including leaves, stems and flowers are inhabited by diverse assemblages of microorganisms, including filamentous fungi, yeasts, bacteria, and bacteriophages. These organisms have profound effects on plant health and thus impact on ecosystem and agricultural
functions.
This book is based on proceedings from the 8th International Symposium on the mircobiology of aerial plant surfaces, held in Oxford University in 2005. This is a five yearly conference which brings together international scientists and provides a unique opportunity to discuss developments in this
field.

Book Description
Most plants rely on the co-existence with microorganisms: both groups benefit from these symbioses. It has been shown that a large number of specific genes in plants and microorganisms are only activated during these interactions. Of course, various microbes also act as pathogens.
Interactions between plants and microorganisms are often located on plant surfaces, such as leaf cuticles, seeds and mainly on the roots. The communication between plants and microbes is the main topic treated in "Plant Surface Microbiology", such as the signaling within a symbiosis, the molecular differences between symbiotic and pathogenic microorganisms, the role of microorganisms in the development of plants or in plant protection against deleterious agents. Further contributions are devoted to: the analysis of bacterial communities in the rhizosphere; microbial population genetics; aspects of mycorrhizal symbiosis; functional genomic approaches and the use of microorganisms as bio-indicator of soil disturbance.

Book Description
This volume examines the current state of research in several key areas of inorganic materials chemistry, including solid state chemistry, the analysis of inorganic thin films, and the preparation of organic thin films through self-assembly on various surfaces. Topics discussed in solid state chemistry include the synthesis and characterization of new inorganic phases, the use of porous materials in the separation of optically active organic compounds, the design of inorganic phases that can bind heavy element ions from aqueous waste streams, and new organic-based molecular magnets. For thin films the book covers deposition films with using chemical vapors, ternary nitrides for advanced diffusion barrier applications, and new methods for creating copper thin films and silicon-germanium-carbon films. The final section, on self-assembly, presents strategies for the modification of silicon surfaces with organic functional groups, the synthesis of new sulfur compounds for highly ordered thin films, the preparation of functionalized gold surfaces through formation of self-assembled monolayers, and methods for fabricating and characterizing nanometer-scale features beginning from self-assembled monolayers.

Book Description
Jim Harrison's essays and articles have been selected from twenty-five years of work, from venues as diverse as PLAYBOY, THE NATION, OUTSIDE, and the AMERICAN POETRY REVIEW. They explore the passions and concerns of a classic American writer: ice fishing and bar pool, nouvelle cuisine and night walks.
Customer Reviews:
Please take 5 big ones, Mr. Harrison.......2000-07-28
These reviews must be to hard for the authors to read. The only easy ones would the indifferent reviews since the negative ones are upsetting and the great ones are embarrassing. This review is the latter. Being Fifty it's hard to have any heroes these days, especially living heroes but, Jim Harrison fit's the bill. My other hero Neil Welliver, the painter, reminds me so much of Harrison in his individual thinking, direct approach, outspokeness and belief in their own vision. Descartes could have said "If you don't think for yourself, you don't exist" but this would have been a rather hard line for Descartes at the time( the Pope and all). Harrison(not too concerned about the Pope) does take that hard line in all his work and, like Welliver, has created individual, strongly felt and clearly defined worlds and opinions. These worlds help the viewer or the reader find strength, direction and inspiration to work on worlds of their own.

Another Harrison Treasure.......2000-06-19
Harrison's Just Before Dark sets itself apart from other works of non-fiction and leaves the reader astonished. Out on the landscape of Hemingway's A Movable Feast, Steinbeck's Travels With Charlie, and Faulkner's Go Down Moses; Harrison has brought forth his expedient andric style in this collection of indelible truths. Divided into Food, Travel & Sport, and Literary Matters the book is saturated with wisdom, humor, and insight into every subject from, bird hunting with a French Count, to bar pool, to Ernest Hemingway, to Zen writings. Whether it's sharing with the reader travel tips through America's dirt roads or showing us the complex simplicity in a walk at dusk, Harrison gives the reader an escape that is based in reality yet woven in the fantastic. In my personal copy stars or markings may appear next to titles or lines. By doing this I realize that I am inevitably suggesting that one story transcends another and therefore is somehow healthier than the rest but no assumption could be more crooked. My tattered, marked, and exhausted copy sits as reminder that some books are truly priceless.

The Jack MacLane Novels.......2006-03-02
Jack MacLane wrote 5 horror novels in the 80's/90's. Amazon has only four of them listed. The fifth (and worst) was called "Keeper of the Beast" and featured a kid on the cover imprisoned in a jail made of those letter blocks that kids play with. I barely remember that one, only that it wasn't as good. Bear in mind I read them years ago, when I was in middle school, so I can't speak for the quality of writing.
Except for "Blood Dreams." I forgot to read it "back then," wanted to savor it for later. I read it a couple of years ago and found the writing style to be pretty simplistic. By no means literature, or even great literary genre fiction, it was still a fast paced interesting story about dreams that build up to a strange finale.
"Just Before Dark" was about the best of them. It centered around a junk yard which was actually a front for the mob. Some creepy things started killing people, the mob was killing people... some accountant worked in a trailer in the middle of it all. Strange story.
"Rest In Peace" was a pretty scary book about a house next to a graveyard and the weirdness that surrounds it. Zebra was good about slapping a cover onto a book that had nothing to do with the story, and this was a good example. The cover made it look like a vampire book, but was more like a cross between Jack Ketchum's "Off Season" and Richard Laymon's "The Woods Are Dark." I read this at my grandparents' house and had trouble sleeping.
"Goodnight Moom" was a great horror book for a thirteen/fourteen year old, but I don't know if I'd like it much now. Father beats kid and abuses mother, locks kid in basement, kid turns into a homicidal maniac and goes on a killing spree. The father has to track him down... good fun night time reading.
Jack MacLane is actually the pen name of western writer Bill Crider, and is reportedly a friend of Joe Lansdale. Funny how I discovered him years before Lansdale, who is now my favorite writer. Perhaps MacLane even paved the way to my discovering greats like Lansdale, Ketchum, Laymon, and for that I thank him and will always enjoy the memory of his books. I am, however, afraid to go back and reread them, as I am afraid to go back and rewatch "Howard the Duck."
