This book offers interviews and facts from all of the strategic players - not just one facet. This requires the reader to form their own educated opinions regarding the use of one of our precious natural resources - trees. It makes you look at how policy and programs over the years have affected lives and forests in the USA. It is an excellent source of facts and after reading a friend's copy, I had to get my own!

Sea Kayak the Gulf Is - best book.......2007-05-27

This is the second copy I have purchased - I have kayaked the Gulf Is for many years and this book is extremely well written and organized, in fact better than any other I have read for the Pacific Northwest. I wish the author would write for areas already covered in other books and show them how.

I'm using this book as part of a multi day adventure rowing through the Gulf Islands. This book discusses the currents, beaches and campsites along the way. In addition the charts its an essential part of the planning for this area. You'll be glad you got it before you went.

I loved this book because it is full of surprises. Shredder man climbs on roofs, he has a secret identity, and he catches Bubba in action. But you will have to read it to find out what will happen next.

This book is fantastic for boys, reluctant readers and everyone in between. I am a children's librarian and I have done several programs highlighting this book. It's written in a very accessible and conversational style that draws you right in. Nolan is a 5th grade nerd who comes up with a secret identity and an ingenius plan to foil the school bully. This book will have you wondering how you can be an everyday superhero.

Shredin Shredderman.......2006-12-21

Shredderman is a great book by a great author named Wendelin Van Draanen. It's about a kid his name is Nolan he is very normal and not so cool. There is a bully named Bubba Bixby. Nolan is in fifth grade. Nolan's teacher Mr. Green is their teacher. He is kind of a hippie. Nolan really likes him.

Mr. Green gives his class a big project; it is a project that you have to make a cool website or an interview, stuff like that. So right away Nolan knew what he was going to do. He was going to make a website about how mean, rude and gross Bubba Bixby was. After school Nolan raced right home. When Nolan told his parents about the project Nolan's dad wanted him to interview the mayor or somebody famous because Nolan's dad works for the newspaper. Nolan didn't want his parents to know he was making a website about Bubba Bixby as they wouldn't approve it. And that's how Nolan becomes Shredder man.

Go shreder man you rule. You rock out loud yes you do your littel 5 or 4 or 3 graders would like it but the beginig is hart to under stan. IT ROCKS!!!!!! On a skale of 1 to 20 I would pick 19 it rocks!!!!!!

TIMELESS CLASSIC.......2006-01-15

As a Yoruba person settled in the United States, I sometimes worry about the erosion of the little I know about richness of the Yoruba culture, especially as articulated in proverbs. This reality becomes more poignant when I reflect on how my children might never appreciate the richness of the Yoruba culture. Oyekan Owomoyela's fascinating work in YORUBA PROVERBS allayed that fear.

I highly recommend this work to anyone who seeks to understand the "demeanour" of the Yoruba culture. A comprehensive collection of more than five thousand Yoruba proverbs translated literally and figuratively as seen with the Yoruba eyes.

Simply put, a narrative of the Yoruba culture and the richness thereof; would be incomplete without reference to this book. Just think: The timeless wisdom of Yoruba sages down the ages, has been made available to us for the mere price of a book.

Much like his other works, Baba Fa'lokun gives us lots if information based on traditional Ifá as it is practiced in Ode Remo, Nigeria. Anyone interested in traditional Ifá and prayer should have this book.

The proverbs here are explained better than in any other book on Yoruba proverbs I have ever seen. They actually explain Yoruba ritual in detail, when necessary. The author does not shy from writing multiple paragraphs to explain one proverb. He does not assume familiarity with Yoruba custom; this is a good book for Santeria practicioners, therefore. This text even has indexes -- one in Yoruba and one in English!

From the supplier: A study was conducted to analyze rape-related myths in Anglo-American and Yoruba culture. English and Yoruba proverbs were examined to analyze the expression of attitudes and sexist views toward rape. Results indicated the existence of sexist proverbial rape in both languages that is more of a patriarchal cultural over-conformity concern than of individual deviance. Findings also showed that Yoruba proverbs are more sexually explicit in nature than the English ones.
