The demand for water resulting from massive population and economic growth in the southwestern U.S. overwhelmed traditional uses of riparian areas. Truly excellent guidebook!.......2000-05-17

I read the second edition of this book before moving to Honolulu three years ago, and still find it a very useful reference. Joe Bisignani gives you tons of interesting and useful information in an enjoyable writing style that captures the mood of the islands. Anyone who is the least interested in exploring Oahu beyond Waikiki Beach will find this book useful. Unlike the writers of some competing guidebooks, Bisignani is honest about labeling expensive tourist traps as such (it is telling that most of them have also shown up in the "Honolulu Weekly" annual readers' choice of "Best place to cruelly misdirect tourists"). Inbetween all the hard facts, Bisignani also manages to give the reader an accurate portrayal of the social climate of Oahu. Unlike most guidebooks, this one has an extensive and excellent history section, and there are also many references to fascinating Polynesian legends throughout the book. Warmly recommended!

Full of action and adventure.......2002-11-14

One of the best books I have read in the past year has to be Fence Busters by Chip Hilton. It is a marvelous book about how Chip and his friends make it into the collage baseball team. One of the major reasons I enjoyed this book so much is that it is about baseball. It is a sport where different people play. Another reason I found the book to be so wonderful is that it was baseball because that is my favorite sport. The reason I picked out this book is because I used to play baseball for 8 years. Of course, my favorite reason for loving this book is it is a sports book. As you can see, Fence Busters By Chip Hilton was truly my favorite book.

This is chip hiltons first year playing baseball for state university. He must face a jealous teammate that ia a bad sport and has a horrible attitude. He also helps a friend that is introduced in this book that has financial problems.

These enable values of functions holomorphic to a domain to be recovered from their values over a part of the boundary of the domain. Various generalizations of these formulas are considered. Applications are considered to problems of analytic continuation in the theory of functions, and, in a broader context, to problems arising in theoretical and mathematical physics, and to the extrapolation and interpolation of signals having a finite Fourier spectrum. The volume also contains a review of the latest results, including those obtained by computer simulation on the elimination of noise in a given frequency band. His subject is double: the Shakespeare he reads and the Shakespeare whom critics in the ranks of the new historicists and cultural materialists are representing (or misrepresenting).

One of the previous decade's best books on Shakespeare.......2001-03-04

I am a little surprised to find myself the first reviewer of this distinguished book. The book is important for two reasons. Above all, Bradshaw is himself an excellent - perceptive, subtle, balanced and sound - critic of Shakespeare. He persuades one that what he sees in Shakespeare is actually "there", and essential to see. Given this ability, he is also in an authoritiatve intellectual position to demolish a good deal of the artificial, contrived nonsense written during the eighties and early nineties, particularly by the "new historicists (so called) and the "cultural materialists": he demonstrates conclusively that for the most part the readings of Shakespeare offered by these critics (inasmuch as they actually discuss Shakespeare rather than offering us onesided views about his period) are distorted and inaccurate when really held up against Shakspeare's plays. Thus Bradshaw's title, *Misrepresentations*, is entirely apposite, and present and future readers of Shakespeare will owe him much for his plain speaking and sharp intelligence, which direct us to the real qualities - not least the artistic ones - of SHAKESPEARE rather than the preoccupations of those who tend to treat him as a political football.
