Mates, Dates, and Designer Divas is about many things. To start, Nesta falls in love with Simon. Then his sister's friend Cressida acts snobby toward her. After that she soon finds out she can't spend money on riding gear for horseback riding with Simon. Simon is rich and wealthy and Nesta was rich and soon found out she might loose everything. Read the book to find out why.
This book is a very good book. Some good things about Nesta could be she is nice, she has good friends, and she doesn't let people bring her down. Some bad thoughts about her could be that she can be selfish, she always gets what she wants, and if she doesn't she whines. The lesson of the story would be don't let people bring you down. I found this out when Izzie and Lucy were talking with her about Simon. All in all, I think Mates, Dates, and Designer Divas is a very good book and if you like chick flicks; you should read it.

If you like girly, estrogen-filled books. This is the one for you. Mates, Dates and Designer Divas is the first book of the Mates, Dates series that I've read. It was about Nesta, who is a ego centric drama queen, who has to cut back on money because both of her parents are temporarily unemployed. Nesta meets a boy and they become boyfriend and girlfriend. The rest of the book is basically about Nesta dealing with peer pressure, a little bit of gambling (sorry. spoiler there), and her new boyfriend's peers.

Nesta has met the perfect guy to be her boyfriend, but there is a problem he is rich and Nesta isn't all that rich at all. Do you think nesta can keep up with his upper-class background? Then there is his friend that likes him her name is Cressida.Cressida is rich also and has tons of fashion designer clothes.How is Nesta going to compete with that?How can Nesta compete with the ultimate Diva Designer?

I personally think this book is hilarious!I would have to recommend this book or any of Cathy Hopkins books. If your a girl then you are going too want too read this book!It has fashion tips and everything in this book.

This was a great book. It wasn't too long either. It kept me hooked and I wanted to keep reading. I finished it in one day because I wouldn't put it down! I haven't yet read the other books in the series but I'm going to. The book is about a girl named Nesta. She meets a boy and they start going out. He's rich but her parents are having money trouble and she can't keep up with the "price" of her boyfriend! She doesn't think he will like her if she tells the truth. Then there is Cressida, a snobby friend of her boyfriend. Don't forget her friends. When she gets in a fight with them she wants to cry! To find out how to she handles her problems read the book!

Excellent series for young teens.......2006-05-11

As i bookseller with specialty in kids and teens, I must really give this series the "thumbs up"!

They are great "light reading", but with substantial contents for their target group. A series with all the right messages - trust in yourself, value your good friendships, be your own person, don't succumb to group pressure etc. BUT they are not annoyingly politically correct, and they are written in a way that will appeal to most age 11-14 girls.
They deal with friendships, first loves, puberty, parents, siblings, school and issues like 'what am I good at' and 'what do I want to be professionally' etc.
The first 6 books are narrated by 4 different girls (who are all friends), which gives a good insight to how different girls in a group see, react towards and percieve the various situations and issues.

Reading "guidelines":
The first five books are good from age 11 and up, from book six the girls mature somewhat and, depending on the individual of course, readers should be a year or two older.

Cathy Hopkins is wonderful. These books are really good. Designer Divas is my favorite. I love Lucy, Nesta, and Toby. I could read these all day! They're awesome! Almost as good as Jacquline Wilson. Read them NOW! I order you : )!

Cathy Hopkins books are the BEST but my personal favorites are the mates dates books. I would recomend them to all girls!!! Shes a very talented writer and i believe that every one should read them. They have a resonable amount of pages (the averge amount is around 200) Once you start reading them you wont want to put it down!
