Talk about a comprehensive summary of the waterfalls in the Soutern Appalachians! I think it has just about every single one ever discovered, with helpful pictures, perfect directions, good trail maps, and all you need to see some of God's best work. I couldn't be happier with this book!

I have used this book extensively in visiting many waterfalls in North Georgia. Mr. Boyd has done an excellent job in documenting trail descriptions and directions.

Very Short, But Enjoyable Book About Bobby Orr - The Greatest of ALL TIME.......2006-02-22

Bobby Orr was the greatest hockey player of all time. I was a little young to see him play during his career (I only had a chance to see a few games towards the end of his career after his knees had failed him) but I've had a chance to see hours of footage from dozens of games in his prime, and I can confidently assert that there was no one as good as he was, ever.

I will certainly grant that Gretzky had the greatest career of all time, putting together great skill and consistent performance for many years. I might even grant that someone like Mario Lemieux may have been endowed with a higher level of innate ability to play hockey. But by the standard of how much impact a player is able to have on a game, how much they are able to dominate the action, and do it all both ways at high speed, no one touches Orr.

Perhaps you've seen adult amateur league games where some team will bring in a ringer, a guy who's played college or major junior hockey, who so clearly outplays everyone on the ice that people start getting angry? People resent someone so dominant, and do all they can to contain them, ususally ineffectively. Here's the connection: Bobby Orr was like a ringer in the NHL. It is not hype - take the time to watch some game footage (beyond just highlights, because though Orr has astounding highlights, they don't tell the whole story) and you will become a believer.

This book is brief, and thin on content, but the quotes and images contained within tell a lot about how respected and admired Orr was (and is) by teammates, opponents, coaches, and writers. I'd give the book a higher rating if it was more substantial, but what is there is good, and a worthy aquisition for hockey fans.

Best Boston Hockey Moment-Best Hockey Player...ever!!!.......2004-02-01

"The Goal" is a great book that brings back the memories and magic that culminated in one of hockey's greatest moments. Some would argue that this is the greatest moment ever in the sport. Orr's miracle season created a new era in hockey. Bobby Orr ran the defense and the offense for the Boston Bruins. Harry Sinden recalls some wonderful inside details in this polaroid style flashback. What makes this book special are all the quotes by other players who were in awe of Orr. Bobby not only made for one of the greatest pictures in sports, he also electrified and transformed a city. Orr dominated both ends of the ice, and he could body check, fight and get very emotional. Gretzky was a great stat accumulator and an excellent passer and puck handler. I would say that Bobby Orr could pass, skate and check equal to or better than Wayne Gretzky. Orr's slapshot was harder. His body took a pounding, whereas nobody laid a finger on the great one. Bobby would often block shots (sans helmet) and then break up ice to either set goals up or score them himself. Gretzky was rarely found playing any kind of defense. Winner, Orr. This book will further solidify the legend, and make the memories, stories and smiles all as fresh as when it all happened. Next year will mark the 25th anniversary of the greatest goal in hockey. It's safe to say it won't happen like that ever again.

A must have for any Bobby Orr or Boston Bruins fan. The greatest goal by the greatest hockey player ever.
Anyone saying "what's his name" is a better hockey player is too young to have seen Orr play. Statistics aren't everything - they are secondary to actual on the ice ability. Yeah, the G man was great. But Orr was in a league of his own. I guarantee you if there were two teams, one made up of six Bobby's and one made up of six Gretsky's, Gretsky would never touch the puck.
Never again will you see a player that good. Never.

Barry, a high school student, struggles between friends and playing soccer. Sturbridge is where he lives and their soccer team has a chance at winning league this year. His best friend Joey, one of the best soccer players on the team, has trouble-staying friends because of their soccer playing. Joey is a ball hog and doesn't pass. Joey thinks that Barry (Bones) and the team aren't playing there hardest. Joey and Bones also have trouble with girls because they both like the same girl and they both get with her. Bones has to deal with pressure from his mom, the soccer team, and Joey.

This story is real easy to read. The words aren't hard and the book just flows through the story. The soccer screens are great. They really tell you what is happening and you can picture it in your head. It talks about stuff that real teens would do like have a party the weekend your parents go away and the jealousy between friends. It shows a great struggle between two friends that are trying to stay great friends. It even shows them getting so mad at each other that they start fighting. It shows problems in the soccer team, some wanting it really bad and others out there just to play. The parts I didn't like is after some chapters it had some inside opinions, poem like things, I didn't get them or like them. They confused me. I didn't know who wrote them and why there were writing them.

I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend this book to whoever liked soccer and enjoyed reading great soccer screens. Also to people who liked reading about friends and their friendship, it has a good story between Joey and Bones. Shots on Goal is a fun and easy book to read.

A journey through adolecence and sports.......2001-05-22

I thought this book was a good sports book but it wasn't spectacular. The characters are interesting and I enjoyed reading it. In this book Dusty; the main character, and his friend Joey are the backbone of the first strong soccer team their school has ever known. However after Joey starts going out with the girl that Dusty was after they become angry and start losing soccer games. I thought this was an interesting book and it talked about good issues like relationships and friendships.

Shots on Goal.......2001-03-20

Shots on Goal is a book suitible for teens in my opinion. It's about the life of a boy named Barry who's nickname is Boney. I think Shots on Goal is a good book because it's really discriptive and has intresting outcomes. Boney is on his way to achieving his goal of helping his soccer team win the league championship. Boney has a brother named Tommy and two parents. Boney is 12 years old. An exciting part is when Boney throws a big party because he was jealous of Joey,his best friend, got a girl that he really liked, her name was Sharon. My favorite part is when Boney played a trick on Joey to get him out of the party.

I THINK.......2000-01-14

I think the book Shots On Goal was very good. The plot was entertaining. It deals with everyday situations like friends,drinking,andlove for the game of soccer. One character is named Joey and he is best friends with the main character. They're always there for each other until they get in a fight. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes soccer.

I think that "Shots on Goal" was an excellent book. It was great for anyone at the high school level. You don't even have to have to like soccer. he sees perfectly into the sife of most high schoolers dealing with issues such as drugs, girls, and friendship. Overall I would give the book a rating of ten on a scale of one to ten. I think that Rich Wallace should keep on writing.

Grodnitsky evaluates functional issues relating to insect diversification, particularly wing structure and kinematics. Great Introduction for the layman.......2007-08-12

I truly enjoyed this book. It covers very profound subjects in a manner that the average layman can understand. With this book, I had to read it in small bites. Each page was packed to thought provoking ideas. After reading a little, I wanted to just sit, think and reflect. It is good book to read with others. The ideas need to be discussed to be absorbed.

I enjoyed the cosmology, the string theory, M-theory, and the standard model. I had heard about them but I never knew much about them. The author lets you know which areas are hotly debated in the science world. Most books about this subject have too much math for me to work through.

The ending was a little too much.

It's A Possibility.......2007-08-02

Michio Kaku has created a scenario of possibilities in the evolution of this world. Kaku explores the potentials of parallel worlds and realities. In quantum physics anything is possible. Kudos for Kaku. Bettye Johnson, award-winning author, Secrets of the Magdalene Scrolls.

Science Fiction.......2007-07-11

Kaku has an agreeable, engaging writing style that makes some of the more challenging physics and mathematics accessbile to the layman. Where I felt my interest waning, however, was in the section where he discusses at considerable length various exit strategies from the universe trillions of years from now when it will come to an end. A page (at most) would have sufficed to cover this scenario; instead he went on and on about the various possibilities for intelligent beings to escape from our universe into parallel worlds. The death of our universe is too distant an event for us to be expending too much brain power now on devising contingency plans.
