Book Description
A funny and affectionate portrayal of the author's home town. Combining tourist information with history, humor, and anecdote, this is a book that will appeal to golfer and non-golfer, local and visitor, alike. It features a detailed map of the course and low down from a regular St. Andrews player. The book also contains an informative guide to the attractions of the town, the best places to stay and eat. It will even persuade the most jaded golf widow or widower that the town is worth a visit.
Customer Reviews:
St.Andrews answer to Bill Bryson !.......2000-08-21
It has always surprised me that given its long ancient history. It has taken this long for somebody to take up the challenge and write a witty, informative and highly readable book about St. Andrews - its not just about golf! Tobert has filled the role wonderfuly and will hopefuly entice the tourist or 'New Pilgrim' to visit the town's other jewels. Yes there is life off the links, but beware its traffic wardens are infamous and resistence is futile! Congratulations to Tobert for accepting the challenge and at last St. Andrews has a local answer to Bill Bryson and James Dodson.

Leah Carter's brother Royal has returned from the Civil war battlefields but has found himself engaged in a battle of a different sort - a battle for a lady's affection. The lady is the beautiful Lori Jenkins of Chattanooga, and the enemy is the dastardly Drake Bedford, one of Pineville's most venomous fighters. Just as their friendship starts to blossom, Lori is called home to Tennessee to care for her sick sister and Royal once again must face the Rebel army. The good news is, the army is headed toward Chattanooga where the friendship could continue to grow. The bad news is, Drake Bedford has decided to join the Union army as a soldier in Royal's company! Join the excitement as the conflicts continue, on and off the battlefields. And see how God's grace can change the lives of even the most stubborn sinners.

Battle of Lookout Mountain.......2001-03-04
The Battle of Lookout Mountain is an excellent book. I have read the entire series and I love every book. I like how Mr. Morris has the two families "against" each other while Leah and Jeff are still friends. I think this is an incredible book. I encourage everyone to read this book and all the books in the series
Love this book!.......2000-06-13
I love this book!I think that it has a great story line. Theway that the author portrays the heartbreak and sorrow from friendsand family being torn apart by war, and the hardships and horrers of battle and a soldiers life, are enough to make you feel the pain that the characters are feeling, but are not overwhelming. I recommend this book and the rest of the books in it's series to anyone who loves a good book!
Wonderful read for anyone!.......2000-06-12
Wow! This was a great book! I couldn't put it down! I read it in one day. Whatever you do BUY THIS BOOK IT'S WORTH IT!

Analysis of USAF Medium and Heavylift Space Launch Mission Reliability Requirements
Manufacturer: Storming Media
ProductGroup: Book
Binding: Spiral-bound
ASIN: 1423557832 |
Product Description
This is a AIR FORCE INST OF TECH WRIGHT-PATTERSONAFB OH report procured by the Pentagon and made available for public release. It has been reproduced in the best form available to the Pentagon. It is not spiral-bound, but rather assembled with Velobinding in a soft, white linen cover. The Storming Media report number is A982453. The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: The launch services that the USAF procures to carry DOD payloads into orbit are characterized by high risks and high costs. If a launch vehicle experiences a catastrophic failure, the cost of the entire launch vehicle, the launch processing, and the payload are completely lost (often in excess of 1,5 billion dollars.) Despite this enormous risk for the payload customer, and indeed the launch provider, launch success rates around the world are not much above 90 percent. The current USAF medium and heavylift launch systems are often based on technology that is 20 years old and older. Furthermore, little historical data exists because of the complex technologies used and the unique nature of individual missions. As such, reliability management is limited and faces serious shortcomings. This research investigates the various shortcomings associated with mission reliability measurement and management. Through literature review, case study analyses and interviews, the shortcomings are determined and analyzed. The results of this thesis effort demonstrate these shortcomings. Recommendations are presented for immediate improvement to selected shortcomings and suggestions are made for future research.

Book Description
This volume provides an exhaustive review of the most current knowledge of the composition, architecture and dynamics of the nuclear envelope. In contrast to other comprehensive works on cellular membranes in general, this book is the first to specifically address the nuclear envelope. Experts in the field relate the different domains of the nuclear envelope, their biogenesis, their composition, their mode of targeting to chromosomes and how they dissociate from chromosomes upon cell division. A wealth of information from several experimental systems is provided, such as dividing somatic cells, embryos and nuclear assembly assays in cell-free extracts, in a wide range of vertebrate and invertebrate organisms ranging from humans to yeast. The book also contains up-to-date reviews on the relationship between mutations in proteins of the nuclear envelope and Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy. The breadth of topics covered in what may seem to be a field as narrow as the nuclear envelope makes this volume a valuable reference.

Nice, but lacking in some areas........2007-02-15
First, background: I bought this book along with the Princeton Review Physics book with about two months to go before the exam. Unfortunately, I had only taken a year of IB Physics, so I only knew about half the things I was supposed to know: I had some vague knowledge of Electricity and Magnetism, with absolutely no knowledge of nuclear physics and relativity. Hey, I needed a science credit. Anyway:
The nice thing about this book is that the explanations were very easy to follow. It gave you a nice, general grounding in the areas you needed to know without really delving deeply into anything- essentially, SAT Physics for crammers in its purest form. This was pretty good for me, as I had a lot to learn and only a limited time to learn it in. There are handy practice quizzes after every chapter, and there are 4 full practice tests at the end of the section, which isn't bad.
Of course, this method has its problems. I took the test and found out that this book actually does not cover every topic that is tested on the SAT, either giving too little information in some cases or missing entire topics completely. For instance, there was a question on Gauss's Law and Gaussian surfaces in the test I took (which was never mentioned in this textbook). This actually didn't affect me in the end, as I still got enough right to get an 800, but I was rather disappointed by that.
I recommend buying this book if you intend to cram a couple of weeks before the exam, or if you just need a quick, general review. Otherwise, I would suggest that you buy this book in conjunction with Princeton Review's book- While this book is a much better teacher of the basics than PR and is easier to follow, PR covers some topics much more thoroughly than Kaplan, so I sugggest reading that after you've gone through Kaplan if you want to ensure that you get 750+ on the test.
Kaplan SAT Subject Test: Physics 2006-2007 (Kaplan Sat Subject Test. Physics).......2007-01-10
Good test, but I should like to see more question with real live.

The Bastard of Istanbul
ASIN: 1890771988 |
Book Description
Bloodvine is the tale of one man's struggle with the strange and seemingly impenetrable secrets that plague and intrigue every family. Reconstructing the stories of his father and estranged uncle, a son--two generations removed from the Armenian genocide--comes to comprehend the history of a people. "Among Armenian families," he learns, "the connections between devotion and animosity are as complicated as events in a dream." Set on a family farm in California in the 1950s, Bloodvine is a compelling novel of intense relationships, of love, joy, hate, and madness, of people unraveling as they struggle with the unpredictability of soil, weather, and fate. Told with an authentic and unflinching sense of place, this story of transgenerational trauma and healing resonates with the power of humanity's most ancient conflicts.
Customer Reviews:
You'll wish you owned a copy.......2004-03-05
BLOODVINE is an unusually good first novel. Janigian writes wonderfully vivid prose, he is a talented story teller, and he clearly signals his intention in this book to grapple with big issues in his writing.
In this novel, Janigian evokes with confident mastery the milieu of the San Joaquin Valley at the middle of the last century, and he deftly ties together the relatively unknown sufferings of the Armenians in the first modern genocide with the outlook and behaviour of their American descendents. Difficult subject matter, ably handled by the thoughtful and talented Janigian.
The novel is worth reading for its many excellences, but one of the pleasures of BLOODVINE is the exciting sense that one is experiencing a new voice for the first time, one that will only increase in artistic power and range in future novels. It may be that a copy of this first edition of BLOODVINE, like a first edition of Saul Bellow's or Philip Roth's first novels, will one day be a coveted part of the collection of serious readers.
Strong start to a promising career.......2003-04-15
Beautiful imagery, heartfelt emotions, and stinging overtones of social ills resound throughout this well-written novel. This is an important story that needed to be told and needs to be heard. Janigian's future seems bright if he continues to write with the self-evident passion and sweat that he poured into the pages of this book.
a living, breathing story.......2003-03-24
Aris Janigian has created a moving, realistic 'roman a clef' reminiscent of early Steinbeck. If he continues to write in this vein, I think it's fair to say he could become a major talent which essentially means that he doesn't just write stories but literature.
