I just used this book while on a vacation in these areas of Colorado. The reccomendations in the book are very helpful and the use of this book really helped make my vacation a success. It is very easy to read and follow and FULL of information about both the sites in the book and interesting history of the area. Great book to buy if you are planning a vacation to Colorado.

Sonny, aka Shorty, hasn't been in a classroom in years, and he spends his days doing odd jobs on the dangerous streets of Medellín, Colombia, South America. He and his best friend Alberto have a regular gig running cigarettes for a convenience-store owner, and in this line of work Alberto meets El Fantasma, a soft-spoken crime leader with a reputation for being merciless.

Soon after Alberto starts spending time away from Sonny, he shows up with a gun and fifty American dollars. Sonny knows Alberto is involved with something illegal, but rather than try to stop Alberto, he's intrigued with his friend's new secrecy and possessions. After all, the criminals in Medellín have better lives than everyone else. They have money and power and they know they're in control. Sonny, following Alberto's lead, convinces El Fantasma to take him on as an employee, specifically an assassin. What he doesn't know is that El Fantasma sees him as nothing more than a disposable object.

Don't be fooled by the title and setting of this book. Even though Sonny lives in poverty, abuse and violence, he is not a violent or evil person. In fact, he cares greatly for his friends and takes the assassin job because he believes it will help him support his mother. Matt Whyman doesn't beat the reader over the head with morality and lessons, either. Instead, he lets Sonny, a basically good kid who does the wrong thing for what he believes is the right reason, speak for himself.

BOY KILLS MAN is inspired by the true story of child assassins in Colombia.

Description:
In the present work, the separations of calixarene derivatives have been investigated using both high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and nonaqueous capillary electrophoresis (NACE) techniques. HPLC-1 method with LC-318 (pore size=300A) column and MeCN mobile phase was optimized for the separation of calixarenes. At the flow-rate of 1ml/min p-nitrocalix[6]arene, calix[4]arene and calix[6]arene could be well baseline and symmetrically separated within 5min. For the separation of p-tert-butylcalix[n]arenes (n=4, 6, 8), HPLC-2 and NACE methods have been optimized. The optimal conditions in HPLC-2 method included NH"2 column and MeCN mobile phase, and p-tert-butylcalix[n]arenes (n=4, 6, 8) were baseline separated within 10min at 0.8min/min. The optimal conditions for NACE method employed MeCN-H"2O (8:2, v/v) as the nonaqueous medium and 120mM Tris/HCl (pH 9.0) as the buffer, and p-tert-butylcalix[n]arenes (n=4, 6, 8) were successfully baseline resolved within 16min. With the detection at 280nm, the calibration lines were linear in the ranges of 1-200@mg/ml for calixarene derivatives by HPLC-1 and HPLC-2 methods, and of 2.5-200@mg/ml for p-tert-butylcalix[n]arenes (n=4, 6, 8) by NACE method, respectively. The detection limits (S/N=3) and recoveries ranged from 0.5 to 1.4@mg/ml and from 98.1 to 102.4% by both HPLC-1 and HPLC-2 methods, and from 1.3 to 2.0@mg/ml and from 97.9 to 105.1% by NACE method, respectively. The intra-day reproducibility of the methods was determined with satisfactory results. The proposed HPLC and NACE methods were accurate and reproducible, and could be utilized to separate and determine calixarene derivatives.

Leon-Portilla has amassed a rare thing. A compilation mostly drawn from dead societies. Much of this reflects decades of research by dedicated scholars, who sweated over deciphering Mayan glyphs. A task initially thought to be impossible.

The book also shows that the terms used in the Americas of "Hispanic" or "Latino" are totally inadequate and insulting when describing those who still have some nature heritage. Those labels are of the European adventurers [or freebooters or imperialists].

Reading the deciphered poetry and narratives shows a richness that does not hark to Castile or Cadiz. A richness of a totally different society.
