"These Boots are made for Hiking".......1998-08-24
Great book! Lots of good directions to the most outstanding day hikes in Southern California. My wife and I have taken several of the hikes mentioned. Every one is even more impressive "up close and personal" than from the "planning couch." John Mckinney's descriptions are accurate and his tips and suggestions are highly recommended. Get off the couch, get this book and try it for yourself, you'll like it.

Book Description
Advances in our understanding of biological mechanisms have frequently been associated with the development of new techniques. In situ hybridization is a classic case of just such an advance. The technique effectively combines histochemistry with molecular biology and enables the rapid analysis of the distribution of RNA, or DNA, in the tissues. The information gained from this has caused something of a revolution in our understanding of developmental biology, since a fundamental aspect of development is the spatial and temporal expression of genes. In addition the technique has found application in the field of medicine, where it is giving new insights into the functioning of healthy tissues and the diagnosis and study of diseases. This book brings together contributions from leaders in the application of this technique and will help the reader review and be guided through the various options and variations of the technique.

Great Service.......2007-10-08
The book was brand new and the shipping was fast.
Thank you for an easy transaction.
A great text with lots of information in a small package........2007-09-29
This text is perfect for the reader who can read graphs and diagrams. A picture is worth a thousand words and so are graphs and diagrams. This text is chock full of graphs with all the information that you may need for an undergraduate or graduate course. I love this book. Its an excellent reference.
Good book........2007-09-03
Was used for "intermolecular forces" class... Advanced, and I think, it could be useful for people who work with AFM.
Fantastic Book.......2005-07-23
If you want to learn about the title subject, this is a great intro book. And it's probably the most enjoyable theory book you are likely to own, if you purchase it.
Forces you know or not????.......2004-02-13
The above "reviewer" needs to learn the English language! What the hell is that guy trying to tell us? I'm glad the book is useful to the outdoors.
I have not read too far into the book, but it seems to be fairly well written.

Preceding the phenomenal success of Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie, in which Albom discusses his weekly visits with his mentor, Morrie, as Morrie faces death from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Morrie Schwartz published his own book, Morrie: In His Own Words.
Schwartz intended his words to be read by people dying of terminal illnesses with passages titled ,"Living with Physical Limitations," "Grieving for Your Losses," and "Reviewing the Past." Yet, just as in the case in Tuesdays with Morrie, this collection of plainspoken reflections transcends the "death and dying" category and is more aptly shelved in one's inspiration and spirituality collection.
For example, Schwartz's simple thoughts on courage could speak to any seeker of enlightenment.
"Dealing bravely with physical pain or accidents takes one kind of courage," he writes. "Facing life as it is and accepting it requires another....I have found courage through seeking thoughtfulness, openheartedness, detachment, and other responses that make up a composed life and a calm response to illness....I hope that I can continue in this way to the end so that I die with inner peace.
As it was, on November 4, 1995, Morrie Schwartz died just as he hoped he would. --Gail Hudson
Book Description
For everyone who enjoyed the inspiration and wisdom of Morrie Schwartz in Mitch Albom's moving best-seller Tuesdays with Morrie, here is Morrie's own book, presenting the philosophies by which he triumphantly lived, even as he faced the end of his life.
For decades Morrie engaged his Brandeis University students in the importance of community and involvement in life. Ever the teacher, in his last year, as his battle with the fatal illness amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig's Disease, gradually weakened him, he appeared on three memorable "Nightline" programs with Ted Koppel, simply titled "Morrie," and captivated millions of viewers across the country with his spirit and compassion.
Before he died, Morrie finished the manuscript for this book, which was originally titled Letting Go. He saw it as his greatest teaching opportunity. Whether you or a loved one is healthy or ill, young or old, there is invaluable wisdom here that can enrich your life. From "handling frustration" and "reaching acceptance" to "relating to others" and "being kind to yourself," Morrie's life-affirming insights help you take stock of where you are now and where you may want to be.
Morrie: In His Own Words will have a lasting impact on whoever reads it. It is Morrie's invaluable legacy to us all.
Customer Reviews:
Morrie: In His Own Words........2007-09-11
I wish I had read this book when my husband was dying of ALS. It should be a must for everyone who'd been given a Medical Death Sentance and their family who have to stand by helplessly while their loved one diminishes and then dies before their eyes. It's compelling and would at least ease the sorrow that becomes part of their life.
More for the Dying .......2007-08-08
This book makes you realize that Morrie was such an amazing person. It makes you wish you had known him. But it is also more a book for a person who knows he is dying. Or for someone who loves someone who is dying, you could read it together. It offers positive thinking for a person who has already accepted his imminent death.
Morrie: In His Own Words.......2007-04-11
The shipping to Guam was VERY FAST although it was only USPS priority mail. If you are a Mitch Albom fan, this book is literally in Morrie's own words. So the style is not quite the same. If you just want a little more in depth of him (Morrie), this is must. My 17 yr old has to do a project quarterly and read all of Albom's books, and this is the last one.
Touching View of Humanity.......2006-10-11
Reading Tuesday's With Morrie touched me deeply, since I struggle everyday with a congenital heart problem--and I never know when the next day may be my last. Morrie's wisdom, humor and expriences is brought through from Mitch Albom's terrific writing. Morrie's words cannot be more insightful and wise as my body is beginning to break down....I re-read his book quite often, so I can feel uplifted.
This is truly a powerful learning tool for those who know people who are suffering, or are dying, or who just wish to know more about "why we're here".
There is one thing they didn't mention, perhaps was edited out-- We live on in immortality through the memories, experiences and love of the ones we leave behind. [and in some cases, in books, essays, quotes, music etc. that are produced by us]
One will underand from reading Tuesdays With Morrie is that Death and Life are intertwined, and that Death is nothing to be afraid of. Not even the pain of death is something to fear, as long as you are ready to face it.
Morrie: In His Own Words.......2006-02-24
If you've read Tuesdays with Morrie, then this has to be a companion read. They cover the same material but In His Own Words definitely makes you, as the reader, think of your own immortality and how to better yourself so that in the end, you will have contributed all that is important to you.

Customer Reviews:
THE best libertarian book out there........2007-09-07
I agree with the other viewer who said that this book is an overrall better introduction to libertarianism than all the others, even Murray N. Rothbard's "For A New Liberty". Many of the great libertarian writers started from some central axiom. Ludwig Von Mises said that "Man acts to achieve some goal subjectively desired by themself". Rothbard said "self-ownership." And Robert Higgs points out how "Crisis is the Health of the State." The cool thing about Mary J. Ruwart's book is that it essentially starts from the most universal and timeless of moral principles, the Golden Rule. You know that, don't you. Almost any culture that is worth their weight believes in it and many religions even teach it. Mary J. Ruwart eventually constructs an entire anarchist argument upon it though. Or an anarcho-capitalist argument anyways. She covers everything from schooling to welfare to the environment to the destruction wrought by minimum wage laws and licensing laws. All from the perspective of the Golden Rule in a thorough and exhaustive combination of deductive reasoning and inductive historical studies (are you award for instance of the fact that during the 1920's, the average income of African-Americans was the same of the average income of white-Americans before minimum wage laws and licensing laws). She also covers foreign policy, drug laws, etc. She constructs all of this up from the Golden Rule and points out how government is the enemy of the Golden Rule. It is organized aggression and so long as we support it, taxation, and regulations while not respective private property, then we can't truly claim to believe in the Golden Rule.
Wake up sheeple!.......2007-04-06
This book is one of the best statements of and arguments for libertarianism that I have ever seen. It is also very logical: everything follows from the "Good Neighbor Policy", which, in a nutshell is: 1) refrain from first strike use of force, fraud or theft, and 2) repairing any damage done from violating 1).
I don't agree with everything she suggests, but this book should open your eyes to solutions never proposed by the left or the right.
It's an eye-opener.......2006-02-17
Usually, when you think of "aggression" you think of invading armies. Or maybe you think of schoolyard bullies. But if you haven't read this book you probably never thought about aggression the way Mary Ruwart does, and it's hard to imagine anyone reading her book without having his or her traditional ways of thinking about many things deeply challenged.
I won't give the book away because I think you should read it. I dare you!
A book like no other.......2005-10-14
This is a book that could permanently change the way you see the world. But that depends on what you bring to it. It is not a book for the cynic, the know-it-all, or the terminally apathetic. It does not give ammo to the power-hungry or feed partisan passions of the right or left. It won't interest those who see only themselves and their feelings as worthy of study, though each of the above could learn from it.
It will, however, with gentleness and grace, uplift, enlighten, and inspire truth seekers whose hearts long for humanity's betterment and whose minds are ready for an exciting intellectual adventure. You'll be introduced to the practice of nonaggression -- honoring our neighbor's choice and righting our wrongs -- and shown how its application is the true expression of what we say we believe about proper human interaction.
Ruwart begins by reminding the reader of sound, basic social rules most of us grew up with, then shows how failure to apply them in the world of politics has caused many of our problems. She looks, topic by topic, at the ways society customarily functions and shows how its methods not only fail to solve problems, but actually create additional ones. And it could hardly be otherwise when methods are ethically at odds with desired outcomes. We reap what we sow, not what we hope for.
Improving the world requires more than noble intentions. Social harmony and its offspring, prosperity, do not come merely from feeling good about ourselves or others. Nor, at the other extreme, are they achieved by pronouncing others unworthy and trying to politically overpower them. Harmony and prosperity come from our simply acting in ways that do not needlessly create conflict.
We can learn those ways. But we need a new perspective -- actually, an old one, one we carelessly discarded without understanding its crucial role in preserving all we hold dear. Ruwart's book can give you that new-old perspective. Don't be deceived by its apparent simplicity -- there is real wisdom here, and it applies far beyond the political realm.
A Win/Win Solution for Humanity.......2005-10-14
Mary Ruwart's profound book stresses the vital importance of working in cooperation with each other, from every land, ceasing aggression, and finding common ground to benefit humankind which can certainly filter out to every land if we adhere to the win/win approach addressed in this book.
This is a read that can appeal to many in our society, from many philosophical and religious backgrounds. Her points hit home as she shares how to amend and transform the ways that have brought more harm than good upon the masses.
I would suggest anyone in a position of leadership to pick up a copy, as well as anyone who is interested in genuinely creating solutions that can lead to a better life both for oneself, as well as for all. It's a logical, wonderful and inspiring read that can clearly have one of the most positive rippling effects among the masses in the 21st century.
