It is terrific to hear the pros describe in their own words, the shots that made an impression on these bigger than life performers who routinely make amazing shots every day. The Senior Level Class.......2004-02-12
If one has seen a movie where the thief breaks into a safe, one has probably seen the thief use a technique called manipulation. (This is what we commonly call a safecracker.) Manipulation is where Wayne Yeager starts his book and I think he would be glad to say that, quite often, manipulation is not enough. So after a couple of chapters Yeager goes on to explain more forceful methods of getting into a safe including using a drill, punching and peeling, using a torch, even using explosives. This is the senior level class... and it takes lots of work and practice to get past it.
techniques of safecracking - yeah right!.......2003-09-01
As a locksmith in Australia i was quite excited when i read the reviews for this book but 5 minutes into it i started laughing.When one reads lines such as "This is of no consequence, however,for they all act pretty much the same,and the slight differences do not alter the safecracker's methods in the least" i stopped reading and laughed.Although not a "safecracker " as such i have opened my fair share of safes and know that each safe is different from the other.Boltwork is different , safelocks throw up,down,left and right , some have hardened steel plates others have glass , concrete etc..Wayne's answer to these types of questions was so called Templates avalible for safes.Well i don't know any safecrackers that have such "Templates".Sure they have set drill points etc. but no templates.i suppose i am kinda glad this book was such rubbish as i would hate to think people are out there writing such things just to make a quick buck and allow criminals to learn more tricks!

I suppose I expected a vague overview of safecracking, but I was surprised that this book actually shows the exact ways safes are compromised. Where to drill, how to figure out combinations, etc. It's really rather amazing.

My roommate laughed when he saw that I was reviewing this book, but after I pointed out how close he is to his cat, he looked at the book more seriously. Sometimes as "pet owners" we don't realize how close we are to our animal companions until we loose them, and even then we're afraid or ashamed to openly mourn and memorialize them. In Pet Loss, Eleanor Harris offers valuable advice on handling this feeling of awkwardness. A must have book for pet lovers & guardians.......2003-06-10
When my German Shepherd died I was given three books. This was one, and the best. I'm married man with two kids. The kids were devastated, as was my wife & I. This author writes from the heart. There is a special chapter on the difficult decision of euthansia, which we needed because Teg had cancer, and a chapter on how-to help children cope. What sets this book a part from the others is that there is no psycho-babble. No new age theatrics. The author writes from a generic spiritual angle that allows you to tap into your own spirituality, even if you feel that you have none. She presents how different world religions view pet loss and how they counsel their congregations. This is just a great book that should be on every pet lover's shelf. One word of caution - make sure you get the book by JULIA Harris. It was released 2003 by Lantern Books. There is an older book by the same title written by Eleanor Harris and it's different.

I appreciated the author's candidness in dealing with grief. She was straightforward and connected quickly with me. If it weren't for the fence-straddling on religious views I probably would have rated this book higher. But when I read a book I want to know the author has answers and is strong on them. I still recommend this book for general help. Thank you for writing it.
Excellent Coping Resource for Adults and Children!.......2000-01-13
Having lost my beloved dog, Sasha, I read three books on pet loss. This was the only book which truly comforted my children and myself. It offers spiritual viewpoints from global religions. Doesn't matter if your Christian, Buddhist, Native American, Jewish - the author offers wisdom taken from all paths. A beautiful book which guides you through helping children cope, the difficult decision of euthansia, terminally ill or injured pets - even stolen or runaway pets. I highly recommend this book. You won't be disappointed.

This book, I'll tell you is one of the best books you'll read. I found it easy to read, it flowed well, I could not put it down. You are talking about a real roller coaster ride.
I am a christian and I would like to see more professional athletes put aside pride and ego and recognize that all that we are is due to the grace of God. The inspirational message is that circumstance may be unavoidable but ambition, hard work, and perserverance can make us into whatever we wish. If one had faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ, as Mr. Rucker, then all things are possible.
Rugged, tough, inspiring account!.......2002-12-14
This is a story that actually made me cry. I have been a fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Kardiac Kids and Mr Rucker was one of my favorite football players. I have read accounts of his life in newspaper articles but never did those articles go into the depth of this book. I was simply fascinated by his early life struggles and the depravity of an american family in our nations capital. Reggie Rucker truly enjoyed the blessings of a guardian angel, I would agree with him that he was favored. A lot of young black men never make it out of the squalor of ghetto life. Somehow, he was able to marshall all the forces of his inner circle, pick himself up, and commit himself to his own survival.
Too bad he didn't realize his gift when he had that stage, like many of today's athletes, the temptations are so readily available that these men think they can get away with whatever. Sometimes we get a peek into their world and if this is genuine, we can use his life's experiences inspirationally. I know there are young men in similar circumstances that if they take a moment and read this book, they will certainly realize that anything is possible in this great country. And, if God is with us, who can be against us. In short, I think the authors did a great job of bearing the soul and a man who has obviously, come into the light.

About two weeks ago, I heard Reggie Rucker talk about his book on a local Cleveland sports talk show. Having grown up with the Cleveland Browns and the "Kardiac Kids", I felt compelled to run out and buy the book to find out how this man had gone from the ghetto to finding God.
At best, this book is a first draft. It has the potential of being a good book; however, it is far from being finished. Who ever the editor is could not have even proof read it.
Reggie does share with us his life as an African-American growing up in the ghetto's of Washington D.C. but he seems too interested in sharing with us his sex cappers rather than more about Reggie the person. We are able to catch a few glimpses of the person but so much more could be told. He received an academic scholarship to Boston University yet he makes no attempt to explain how he became such a good student under his living conditions. While taking us through his football career, he talks about his first experience at Dallas and then arriving at New England and leading the league in catches. In one sentence we are told this information and he makes no attempt to share with us how he went from being an unknown to leading the league? What was that season like - how did it make him feel? We'll never know. All we'll know about is girl after girl that climbed into bed with him while he was married including the under age high school student while he was a teacher during the off season.
In learning all about Reggie's sexual advetures, he does not mention any of the women by name. But when he gets to Halle Berry, he can't wait to drop her name and tell us all about how he at 35 took advantage of this at the time 19 year old future star.
This book is less than 200 pages long. The first 195 pages Reggie tells us about escapades of the sex life of a Black male in the 70's and 80's and the last five pages of how he has become a born again Christian.
Mr. Rutger has a story to tell. He just needs an editor that can help him tell it. Again, this book at best is a draft of what could be.
