Even the most jaded watchers of the royal saga were caught up in the worldwide outpouring of emotion that followed Princess Diana's death on August 31, 1997. Thousands--maybe millions--paid their respects with flowers; the 80-odd people who contributed their reflections to this book pay homage with well-chosen words. This compilation of memories and tributes, released exactly one year after Diana's death, represents a remarkable range: brilliant writers Martin Amis and Maya Angelou, legendary film director Richard Attenborough, friends and family of Diana, political figures, clergymen, and a sampling of the ordinary people who were touched by the life of this extraordinary woman. For all the reams written about the princess, her story is not complete without a record of the intimate emotions she evoked in acquaintances, historians, feminists, humanitarians, and journalists, which are all captured in the essays, poems, and letters of Requiem. All proceeds from the sale of this book will go to Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital Fund, one of Diana's charities.

Diana's friends speak and write about her, wonderfully.......1998-11-14
This is one of the few very best books on Diana. Her closest friends speak or write about her not long after her death. The Clive James piece, "No", is unforgettable, as is the late poet laureate's poem 6 September 1997. This is a keeper; should be owned by all who love or admire Diana.

HOW THE WORLD STOPPED TO MOURN HRH DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES.......2007-10-02
Yes, this book is now 10 years old. And it's been 10 years since Princess Diana died, but this book is a very vivid reminder of that horrible week following her death. That week where I, and I'm guessing millions more, stayed glued to the TV not quite believing what had happened. This book brings the chaos of that tragic time back, but gives us the most beautiful remembrences of the late princess from people she touched. People she visited at hospitals where she shined her brightest helping people.
I was hoping there would be pictures in this as well, but the picture on the cover is the way I'd like to remember her. Beautiful, happy, radiant. And really I wouldn't want to see pictures from that week anyway. It was too sad to remember it just reading about it. This book captured that one week in a tiny time capsule in a way I've never seen any book on history do. Because now that is what she is believe it or not-history.
During the 10 year memorial stuff my 5 year old niece asked who the pretty blonde woman on the TV all the time was. We told her she was a princess who was very kind to sick people and cared for others, but had died before she was born. She looked up at me and asked, "A REAL princess?" When she's older I'll gladly give her this book to show her how the entire world stopped to grieve over the most amazing woman in the world. And tell her how one ordinary person CAN change the world. Princess Diana was proof of that.
So YES! This is a book for anyone's collection!
Emotional and Moving!.......2007-08-23
I think Princess Diana was one of the most loved royal family members of England and the world and this book proves that! I felt like she connected with everyone she met. I never met her but I was in a car traveling through the streets of London once and her royal auto passed by, it seemed to glow with her warmth. Review written by the author of Bruised But Still Strong which contains a poem about Princess Di called HRH.
this is the most moving book I've ever read.......1999-09-18
at least in a very long time. I picked up the book as soon as received and had a difficult time putting it down. Its been a long time (over 2 years) since Diana's passing but this book made it feel like it was last month. All the feelings and emotions came flooding back & made me remember what a great loss this was to the world. Obviously the writers of the essays etc had very strong emotions towards Princess Diana. The feeling of love for this lady comes pouring out of each story.
One of the best Diana books i've read and ive read some!.......1998-11-17
While dozens of pictorial testimonials to Princess Diana have already appeared Requiem offers more than eighty written tributes and recollections. Dont buy this book for pictures it leaves that to others. But this 43 year old does not mind saying the tributes and recollections moved him to tears. If you are a Diana fan this book is a must have.
FORGET THE HYPE, THIS IS DIANA.......1998-08-24
THE GOSSIP AND SNIPING THAT SURROUNDED HER IN LIFE IS CUT TO THE QUICK BY THE HONESTY THAT CAME THROUGH HER DEATH. THIS BOOK PROVIDES A REALISTIC LOOK AT DIANA. A MUST HAVE FOR DIANA COLLECTORS AND DEVOTEES.

The Grail of Earnhardt Books !.......2007-01-06
I normally try to avoid describing a book in ways that might be seen as hyperbole, but this book defies that rule ! An incredibly thorough statistical breakdown of the career of one of NASCAR's greatest drivers and most beloved stars, John Regruth's book is worthy of being called awesome. Accompanied by more than 80 color photographs, this book begins with a complete listing of his career statistics and records, then chronicles his races year-by-year, then finally his results at each track. Starting position, finish, laps, money, Cup points.... it is all in here. Quite simply put, the absolute best statistical record of Dale Earnhardt's career available. Superb !
Have a mug of coffee close by !!!.......2003-11-19
Let me say first that this book only remindedd me of the 94 Brickyard where me & my wife sawd him whiles we was tryin to get an autograph. I must tell you that there are so many facts & numbers that it will make your head spin, kinda like being in the infield at Daytona after a case of Busch beer. It made a good addition to our Earnhardt wall clock
stats, stats and more stats and stats you never thought of.......2002-01-07
Let me say that I am a NASCAR and huge Dale Earnhardt fan! This book is a must have for ANY Dale fan. There are other stat books in the making by the same author of other great NASCAR drivers like Jeff Gordon. I had to have this book. This book is a testimonial of how great of a driver Dale was. You can't compare Dale to Richard Petty and you can't compare Jeff Gordon to Dale because of the different eras and technology in stock car racing but Dale was the best of his era and many other great NASCAR drivers like Ned Jarrett and Junior Johnson think he was the best ever. I agree!!! This book has every imaginable stat of Dale. From year by year to track breakdowns and even his IROC stats. A must have for any Earnhardt fan. We miss you Dale! Thanks for the memories!!! Rest In Peace!
A GUD BOOK.......2001-08-04
I beleiv I speak for all race fans when I say Dale Earnhardt was a great man. He drove better than anybody. He was number three. He was called the inimidater. Then he crashed which is a trajity.
A must be read book for all true race fans.
If you want stats.......2001-07-16
This book has them all. Year by year, track by track, track type breakdowns, percentages. The numbers boggle the mind. An excellent statistical record of Dale's career.

Non-Fiction Video Scriptwriting.......2004-05-30
There are hundreds of books about writing screenplays, but few designed for non-fiction video production. Hampe hits the mark with this book designed for writers and producers of information videos.
He covers research, treatments, script styles and the business of scriptwriting, as the title suggests. Inside are several different script examples, a production glossary and such tips as thinking in pictures and writing for the spoken word.
This is a definitive reference book for corporate and instructional script writers--concise and to the point. The only downsides are that it doesn't address writing for the documentary; it is more "commercial" oriented. It also is skimpy about computer programs for scriptwriting. Other than that, this is the book to get whether you are writing a corporate training video, a travel video, a TV commercial or any special interest film.

The best book I've ever read on the subject!.......2000-04-01
This is the most thorough book I have ever read on Schoenberg and the Second Viennese School. It very clearly leads the reader through the progression from tonal music to the twelve-tone system and demonstrates how this progression is a logical extension of the music that came before. There is also a great deal of analysis of almost all the works of Schoenberg, Berg & Webern.

Misnomer, but still good.......2000-11-16
When I purchased this book, I was expecting something along the lines of a a player's guide or such. What I got, on the other hand, was a sourcebook chock full of information on supernaturals around the world. Be careful that you know what this is before you purchase it. It's an excellent book and I liked it very much, but it was not what I had in mind for a survival guide.
This book might help you build a decent chronical........2000-03-31
The Hunter game is a nice addition to anyones WoD collection. This book can help one to build better characers. You know onesa that can actually live for past 60 seconds.
Good book, full of potential story ideas........2000-03-30
I liked this book. Its written from the point of view of the hunters, a different one for each section. The book does not have any game mechanics, its pure story. It begins with a few tips for novice hunters, something you should get your players to read through. Then it goes on to describe each continent. It spends a lot of time discussing the world outside of North America, so if your planning on running a game in a different country then this is the book for you. I liked the fact that since the information is given out by hunters, it is full of various facts that are completely not true, so your players can read through the book and still not have any of the real information. Full of great story potential and well written. A good buy if your going to run a hunter's game.
Book Description
The premise of the text is that students learn financial statement analysis most effectively by performing the analysis on actual companies. Students learn to integrate concepts from economics, business strategy, accounting, and other business disciplines. The text is designed for courses on financial statement analysis and financial reporting found in accounting, finance, and economics departments.
Customer Reviews:
Thorough treatment of financial statement analysis.......2006-08-14
Stickney's book is not for beginners to the subject, as I believe many of those who have rated the book poorly have found. For those with some background in basic accounting however, it is indispensable.
Great book for FSA.......2006-07-29
I'm a rising second year MBA student at one of the prominent business schools. I used this book as one of the text books for FSA class after basic accounting and footnote accounting classes. This book is very useful in bringing the picture together to analyze and model a company. It is very practical. I have used it as a reference throughout my internship at an investment management firm.
I have read a few other books on security analysis and financial reporting. Most do a great job in discussing the individual topics but don't help in how to apply them in building a model. This book assumes that you know your accounting basics as well as in depth knowledge of certain accounting topics e.g. Revenue recognition issues, securitization, etc. This book does a great job in going through the steps when your boss asks you to analyze a company, prepare its model and do a pro-forma.
The authors used the real world example of a complicated company (Pepsi) to demonstrate the FSA steps. This was invaluable.
The only reason I gave this book a 4 star is that I'd like to have seen a better job on Industry Analysis. But, nevertheless, it is a very useful book.
This is definitely not for hobbyist. As the expensive price indicates, the authors are targetting this book towards business school students who, because of already high 100+k opportunity cost of attending b-school, would not balk at paying a hefty sum to fill in a definite gap amongst FSA books. This book fills that gap well.
Don't judge this book by its cover! Not for beginners, but definitely for the future accounting professionals.......2006-01-27
This is a very highly detailed accounting book. It is definitely not designed for novices. If you already have a good beginning foundation in accounting, this book is an excellent sequel to help you better fine tune and master those accounting skills!
Excellent Treatment of Financial Statement Analysis.......2005-07-08
I bought this book for my MBA financial stmt analysis class despite a couple of negative reviews here on amazon. I'm glad I did. Contrary to what some have said I found the book to be very well organized - I read it straight through, and now I use it as a reference. It provides a great overview of of statement analysis and does a great job of examining the accounting theory that goes into those statements. This book is definately not for someone who hasn't had any accounting courses previously though - it assumes some level of understanding of basic accounting concepts, which may explain why a couple of the reviewers found it confusing. This is not for you if you are an "investment hobbyist" without much prior accounting. If you're looking to go beyond the basics of debits and credits and need to develop a better understanding of financial statements, this will do it for you. The only thing I would like to have seen is some of the more advanced topics addressed since that seems to be lacking in all fin stmt analysis books out there, but I suppose the book is long enough as it is at 1100 pages!
Expensive but Confusing.......2004-08-02
If you would like to learn more about Financial Statement Analysis, this should probably not a right book of you. The author have put many simple ideas into complicated words, not to mention the poor demonstration of cases. The examples are based on too much assumptions, but the basis for these assumptions are not clearly explained (which should be one of the most crucial parts). In addition, the questions in the "industry analysis" are set by the answer, (that means he already know company A is an airline, company B is a computer manufacturer, then he merely give the financial statements to you, and analyse it as if he doesnt know which company was in which industry), so he must be able find his way to draw his conclusion--that A's statement is A, B's statement is B, no matter how similar the two statements are. Ridiculous!
By the way, What you can learn from this book can be found on the internet, without charge.
The book does not deserve its price.

Osho, better known as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, became infamous for his posh lifestyle and outrageous teachings. A prolific author of some respectable and even insightful books, he refused to pen an autobiography for his myriad disciples. Nonetheless, two of these, Sarito Carol Neiman and Ma Yoga Bhakti, have pieced together an autobiography of sorts from the many of volumes of his writings and published talks. We find in Osho a vibrant mind, a sharp wit, and a feigned unpretentiousness that is both disarming and seductive. Following his story, we learn Osho was raised on a loose tether by his businessman grandfather and atheist grandmother, rebelliously questioning religious authority by the age of 5. By the age of 7, he was uncontrollable, and at 21, he had a prolonged enlightenment experience. A Ph.D. in philosophy brought him to the role of professor, but he outgrew it with his talks on meditation that gradually became more radical, until he was known in India as the sex guru. Ousted from India, he sought to create the perfect and most free community, choosing a remote corner of the U.S. Controversy erupted, and the man who called himself Zorba the Buddha became persona non grata the world over. To read about this unorthodox teacher in his own words is certainly entertaining, and although not without internal contradictions, the book is valuable for its relentless challenge to the sacred tenets of established religious thought. Like the best Zen master, Osho forces us to reconsider our conventions. --Brian Bruya
Book Description
Osho is one of the best-known and most provocative spiritual teachers of the twentieth century. More than a decade after his death in 1990, the influence of his teachings continues to expand, reaching people of all ages in virtually every country of the world. Born in India in 1931, Osho first became known as a rebellious philosophy professor in the 1960s and traveled extensively throughout India, giving talks, debating with traditional religious leaders, and introducing his revolutionary active meditation technique, Dynamic Meditation. In 1974 he established a center for meditation and self-discovery in Pune, India. His work there, he said, was an experiment to create the conditions for the birth of a "new man"--one who is free of all outdated ideologies and doctrines of the past and whose vision encompasses both the spiritual wisdom of the East and the scientific understandings of the West. Osho is now globally recognized as one of the twentieth century's most important spiritual guides, although his uncompromising approach and "in your face" style were often misunderstood during his lifetime. "He loved controversy," says Aroon Purie, editor of India Today. "He used to make all kinds of outrageous statements that would get everybody worked up. People used to get upset about the messenger and forget the message. Today the messenger isn't there and people are listening to the message, which is something very intelligent and useful."

Awesome.......2007-07-28
I love this man. If he were still alive, and if I had a daughter, I would not trust him around her, and I would also not take anything he says too seriously. But that is sort of the point. Follow any teacher or master too closely and you will be disillusioned. This guy tells you where he found his keys to the kingdom, and his stories and message are all you need to find your own key. I really enjoy his books.
Autobiography of a Spiritually Incorrect Mystic.......2006-08-27
Very good read for someone in search of truth. Provides insight to life of a greatly misunderstood great person
Change your Mind to No-Mind.......2006-02-27
OSHO was certainly a rebel with a cause... to enlighten all of humanity and free us from our own mind-made and man-made prisons of religion, politics, dogma, and science in the name of war, etc.
I have read five other books by OSHO (Zen, Tao, Yoga, Tantra and Creativity) and I would say this one gave me an insight as to who the man was, why he was, and what he was doing here.
Open your mind, read the book, then go into no-mind. Even if no-mind happens for a split second... recognize it and know it.... that is the beginning... that is the "taste" he's talking about.
I have ordered more of his work as a result of reading this one. What a journey!.

This is the Truth expressed in easy and story type language. Even if you are not interested in heavy language of spirituality, then this book is for you. Even a 10 years old child can read it and taste ultimate truth of spirituality!
Thanks Osho million times for gifting such books to the world.
The world is no longer same now and we are already feeling the shocks of Osho Age at every step of our walk and it is waking us continuously from our centuries old sleep.
SAME OLD.......2004-08-25
ALTHOUGH I WAS AWARE THAT THE BOOK WAS NOT AN ACTUAL " AUTOBIOGRAPHY " , I AM STILL DISAPPOINTED IN THE CONSTANT VAGUE RAMBLINGS AND TIRED INSIGHTS THAT THE AUTHOR EVOKES . THERE IS A LIMIT TO WHAT THE PRINTED WORD CAN DO , AND THIS BOOK DOES VERY LITTLE . I AM AWARE THAT THE FELLOW HAS PRODUCED SOME WITTY , AND AT TIMES STIMULATING IDEAS , AND HAS THE OCCASIONAL ABILITY TO EXPRESS CONCEPTS THAT MIGHT CREATE AN INTEREST IN PHILOSOPHY , BUT THIS IS WEAK . GAVE IT A 1 STAR FOR THE INTERESTING TITLE ........

Book Description
From the first conflict under General Nathan Bedford Forrest at Murfreesboro in 1862 to the desperate and often brutal battles with Union cavalry in the Carolinas during 1865, the Second Georgia was almost constantly in action. While the Second Georgia fought in such famous campaigns as Perryville, Stones River, Chickamauga, Knoxville, Resaca, Atlanta, and Bentonville, they also participated in deadly encounters at Farmington, Mossy Creek, Noonday Creek, Sunshine Church, and Waynesboro. Many of these conflicts are obscure to all but the most ardent Civil War historians. This is the first regimental history of a Georgia Cavalry regiment ever published. The Second Georgia served under both Nathan Bedford Forrest and Joe Wheeler, and campaigned not only on home turf, but literally on the farm acreages of many of the unit's members.
Cracker Cavaliers: The 2nd Georgia Cavalry under Wheeler and Forrest documents the regiment's participation in major campaigns of the western theater, including the Atlanta Campaign and Sherman's March to the Sea from an ordinary soldier's perspective on the Civil War.

what a wonderful surprise!.......2007-09-27
this book that is...I happened across this excellent history while doing some online research regarding my great grandfather. I found his Reg. and much to my surprise learned that there was a book written about them (2nd Ga. cavalry) as well! This well researched and fast paced narrative takes the reader on an amazing ride through the entire history of the 2nd Ga Cav. From their formation to their surrender. A must have for those interested in smaller unit history and Cavalry actions in particular. I never knew my great grandfather but through this book I was able to get a glimpse into his world and gain a better understanding of just how brave and resiliant these ordinary men from all walks of life had to be. By the way my Great grandpa was William C. Cleaton, co D, 2nd Ga cav Regiment, and he lived well into his 90's, fathered 6 children, celebrated his 65th wedding anniversary, and in his early 70's cut a third set of teeth....and is said to have enjoyed them greatly.
Excellent book on Western Theater Cavalry.......2002-08-28
This well researched book provides valuable information on the 2nd Georgia Cavalry Regiment as well as other units that served under Generals Wheeler, Forrest, Wharton, and Harrison. In addition to its interesting and well researched narrative it contains an expanded roster of the regiment, a very useful bibliography, and an index. It is a welcome addition to the library of books on Confederate Cavalry in the Western Theater and an invaluable resource if you have ancestors who served in the regiment...
Written with meticulous historical research.......2001-03-19
Cracker Cavaliers: The 2nd Georgia Cavalry Under Wheeler And Forrest is the battlefield history of the Second Georgia Confederate cavalry unit from its first engagement with Union forces in 1862 under General Nathan Bedford Forrest at Murfreesboro to its desperate and brutal battles with Union cavalry in the Carolinas during 1865. The Second Georgia fought almost constantly throughout the course of the Civil War from Perryville, Stones River, and Chickamauga to Mossy Creek, Sunshine Church, and Waynesboro. Many of these conflicts are obscure and relatively unknown to general histories of the war. John Poole has undertaken a meticulous historical research to produce this comprehensive, articulate and definitive history of the Second Georgia that will be immensely appreciated by both the academic community and the Civil War military buff.
Cracker Cavalier Review.......2001-01-13
This book is good for people looking for an ancestor, it includes a roster of the regiment with their service records.

Book Description
The forgotten protagonist of this true account aspired to be a cubist painter in his native Kyïv. In a Europe remade by the First World War, his talents led him to different roles—intelligence operative, powerful statesman, underground activist, lifelong conspirator. Henryk Józewski directed Polish intelligence in Ukraine, governed the borderland region of Volhynia in the interwar years, worked in the anti-Nazi and anti-Soviet underground during the Second World War, and conspired against Poland’s Stalinists until his arrest in 1953. His personal story, important in its own right, sheds new light on the foundations of Soviet power and on the ideals of those who resisted it. By following the arc of Józewski’s life, this book demonstrates that his tolerant policies toward Ukrainians in Volhynia were part of Poland’s plans to roll back the communist threat.
The book mines archival materials, many available only since the fall of communism, to rescue Józewski, his Polish milieu, and his Ukrainian dream from oblivion. An epilogue connects his legacy to the disintegration of the Soviet Union and the democratic revolution in Ukraine in 2004.
Customer Reviews:
minimal results.......2007-06-11
Perhaps it was only the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union that made possible the research that produced this book. Snyder shows the ethnic and political complexity of the Ukraine under communism. With the uneasy and tangled relationships with Poland and Russia.
The efforts by Jozewski were basically minimal. But their account is interesting, in showing that eastern Europe was scarcely a monolithic. There is not much of a sense that Poland invested many resources in Jozewski or others like him. Certainly not to the level of actually realistically prising Ukraine loose from Russia. Though, for intelligence gathering, he seemed to have garnered modest successes.

Book Description
David E. Morine is a briefcase conservationist specializing in human nature. He has taken on one of the greatest threats to the environment today -- red tape -- and has become an expert at its disposal. During fifteen years in charge of land acquisition for The Nature Conservancy, Morine helped protect more than three million acres of wilderness, finding plenty to laugh about and learn from along the way. Now, here are the stories behind the deals and the people who made them -- an enlightening, entertaining, occasionally unsettling look at the dirty job of keeping America clean.
"Morine shares his most difficult, embarrassing, hilarious and unpredictable moments as a shirt-and-tie deal maker in the service of an untamed natural world." -- The New York Times Book Review
Customer Reviews:
Funny, easy read.......2003-05-18
An environmentalist with common sense and a sense of humor. Fun reading.
Funny, but sexist.......1998-03-07
The book is indeed funny, in many of the stories, but the humor fails to cover up Morine's bitterness concerning his time with the Nature Conservancy. He also comes across as very sexist and an unjustifiable know-it-all. I was disappointed and amused at the same time. This is not a book for idealistic environmentalists! Makes for good bathroom reading.
Funny, funny, funny. I loved it!.......1996-11-16
Morine is no stuffy, holier than thou conservationist. He describes the business of land conservation
as it really is -- one hilarious misadventure after another.
This collection of delightfully humorous short stories is truly a bucketful of good dirt.
