Awesome Reading.......2007-09-06
Very well written. A lot of research went into this book. I truly believe there was a cover up in the death of Princess Diana and it will probably never be brought to light. I loved this book and would highly recommend it.
The Murder Of Princess Diana.......2007-09-02
YES, I most defintley believe that there was a cover up and consiprisy in Princess Diana's death. I believe without a doubt that she was murdered. Diana was more loved and popular than the Royal family, she was in love with a muslim and maybe pregnant. She was the peoples Princess, therefore she had more love and power than the Queen and Prince
Also she had information ( hidden ) that was removed, never to be found, by the Royal family, this information would have greatly embarressed and brought Prince Charles and his family down, The Royal family where afraid of all her information, this is absolutely a FACT, so how can this be ingnored ?
She was everything the Royal family could never be, Loving, Kind , and Giving, loving her sons enough that against the Queens wishes, Diana gave birth in the hospital, that was a firt for the Royal family. I have researched and read about this for 10 years now, and she was indeed murdered.
Some Shocking Stuff In Here!.......2007-08-18
I probably own every book ever published about Princess Diana (before, during and after her death) and found this book to contain many things I had never read before. Mr. Botham brings up theories that I discussed with my late fiance, a Brit, but was afraid to talk about in public. Since Graham lived and worked in London, and ran in 'certain circles' he knew a great deal more than I did about her untimely death. There were things he simply refused to discuss, even with me. A couple of these verboten items are in the book.
I was stunned to read that Princess Anne lost her virginity to Camilla's ex-husband, Mr. Parker-Bowles. Of course Camilla was not married at that time, but the fact that the Parker-Bowles's were involved with both brother and sister Royals seems a bit, well, incestuous.
While he mentions that the French driver who died in the crash (Henri Paul) was suspected of working with foreign intelligence, he does not mention what many other books do of his working with Israeli intelligence. Botham does note that Diana's romance with Dodi (an Egyptian) was of great concern to the Israeli government at the time. Henri Paul seems to have had his hands in all the pies. And we see what greed gets you. Dead.
This book is either very accurate and frightening, or it is chock full of lies, and should be regarded as fiction. When I was reading it I could not help but wish my fiance were still here to read it with me. He would have thoroughly enjoyed it. Diana's death was not a surprise to me at all. I knew it was only a matter of time before she left the stage. I can't believe it has been ten years since she died. My heart still aches for her sons. Time will never heal their loss. I just hope that before he dies, Mr. Al-Fayed gets some sense of justice and a sense of finality. He is not the crackpot he is made out to be. Whether he is rich, powerful, famous, liked or disliked, he is a father. He does have deep feelings. After all these years, he still doesn't have answers. It all seems so sad on so many levels.
Pretty Good Book.......2005-12-09
I thought this was a pretty good book. I disagree that Princess Diana would not have married Dodi. I believe she felt a little desperate at this point. She desperately wanted another child before it was too late. And I believe Dodi was perfect for her. Dodi had done a few things in the past when he was young as alot of people have done. Also, remember she was scheduled to go back to London the day she died but did not go back because Dodi wanted her to stay. This one point makes me believe that she knew why he wanted her to say (proposal of marriage). If she was not interested, she would never have cancelled her plans to go back to London. Some people want the public to believe she would never have married him because that was one of the BIG reasons why she might have been 'eliminated'. I have read TONS of material about her accident and am not convinced that it was an accident. But I don't believe anything will ever come of it!
A gutsy "tabloid" examination .......2005-09-01
Though I don't agree with some major points in the premises laid out, I wanted to commend the author for putting out the murder stance in a backed-up logical way. It is a sham to not acknowledge that Diana was revered by many but to a small faction she was a MAJOR nuisance.
I don't think that Diana was pregnant OR planning to marry Dodi. I agree that Diana wanted revenge for the humiliation that she suffered- and she could do this by her "scene stealing humanitarianism".. But to think that she would get engaged to a playboy who had broken up with his fiance a few weeks prior- , who had drug problems and a checkered past? No way. Dodi's father has plenty of reason to espouse this theory because he was the engineer who set up this friendship in the first place. Look at the pictures of Diana on the Jonikal- she is not gayly hypnotised by the festivities- she looks like she's killling time. There were plenty of dynasties that Diana could have hooked up with- she didn't need Dodi's hand to legitimize her. It's just not believable.
That said, the rest of the theories ring true; the supposed drunk driver- Henri paul was on the MI5 payroll, and he was a light drinker who had NO signs of drunkedness- watch the tape. Yet his blood alcohol test says that his blood alcohol level was 3X over the limit- oh and yes contained carbon monoxide- indicative of a suicide- somebody simply switched the blood tests with another guy at the morgue that night.Additionally, the blueprint of the "murder crash plan" was outlined to others at another time, it is acknowledged in the dark force circles that making a car crash look like an accident is a very effective assasination method. The road that the death car traveled on- has numerous cameras poised on it- are we to believe that evry single security camera was off that night? P'shaw. Also, why did Henri Paul take that roundabout route , why were the security proedures in place discarded at the last minute- after Henri Paul had a little tete-a-tete at the Ritz with Dodi? ( at around eleven, after Dodi and Diana had enjoyed some wine with dinner- I think between the two of them they just didn't smell the rat that was there. )

Book Description
Who Killed Diana? poses tough questions about suspicious behavior and activities and conflicting testimonies. It challenges the widely held assumption that the blood of Mercedes driver Henri Paul contained alcohol at over three times the legal limit–and even the presumption that Paul was merely a Ritz security employee. It names and probes diverse and shadowy parties—both British and foreign—who had motives for wanting the famous couple eliminated as well as the means for achieving this goal and disguising it as an accident.
Renowned investigative journalists Peter Hounam and Derek McAdam take the reader on a breathtaking, page-turning journey through a land of unofficial branches of secret services, professional assassins, international hitmen, “wet affairs,” Psy-Ops, the Clinic, “Feather Men,” remote-controlled cars, and ancient clandestine societies protecting the British establishment.

The murder of a princess. An investigational analysis of the.......2003-03-28
I found this book to be very confusing. It was filled with typographical errors and grammar mistakes. I am not a writer but I spotted grammar errors immediately. The author rambles and changes thought in a paragraph. One example is when he is discussing Diana's loving to eat and always wanted seconds. Next paragraph, he jumps to the history of Queen Victoria. It is a very difficult and boring read. I wasted my money on this one.
Murder of an English language?.......2002-06-16
The author is almost incoherent in his rambling style and very limited discussion of conspiracy theories in the death of Princess Diana, very poorly written, and filled with spelling errors or typographical errors, and often ungrammatical... False claims of an investigation by the author; the book merely asks a few questions and gives very incomplete answers. A waste of time and money.
A Disappointing Read.......2001-07-05
I can't take a book seriously that is full of typos and misspelled words. At one point, the author refers to Diana's friend James Gilby as "James Gibby".
Evidence speaks for itself.......2000-04-04
Whereas the overwhelming evidence that there exists something dubious to be investigated about the death of Princess Diana really sets the difference from other books. An authorship yet unrivaled and a forceful insight higher than the ordinary
Poor presentation, poor contents.......2000-02-08
Dissapointing book about a subject which can lead to all sortsof theories. It has some interesting theories but they are poorlyinvestigated and/or explained.Too much emphasis on old fashion kind or racism to explain the unexplainable. It left me feeling that someone somewhere can do better than this, writing about the same conspiracy theories and developing them in a more professional way to share a brighter light on a very sad event.

Book Description
Following the extraordinary success of his Academy Award-winning film, Leaving Las Vegas, Mike Figgis has now written and directed The Loss of Sexual Innocence, a collection of small images and larger episodes that all concern the gradual loss of innocence. Central to the film is the parable of Adam and Eve, including their expulsion from the Garden of Eden, refracted through Figgis's highly personal approach to character and to writing for film. Included is a diary of the filmmaking process by Figgis, who shot the film in England, Italy, and Tunisia with a reduced crew and inexperienced actors.

After My System and Chess Praxis.......2002-04-19
If after reading Nimzowitsch's two books, you crave more, this is the book to use. It goes over the portion of his career after Nimzowitsch's books, though it focuses on his entire career. An interesting interview with Bent Larsen is included, as well as some thoughts by Nimzowitsch himself on learning how to play chess.
It is a solid effort from Keene. If you like Nimzowitsch, you should get it. Others could safely stay away from it and read from Nimzowitsch himself.
Fantastic Journey into the mind of Nimzo !.......2000-07-22
First let me say that this is a book for intermediate to advanced chess players. Beginner or novice players should look elsewhere for chess instruction.
This book contains many revelations of positional chess as inititally "discovered" and expounded by the father of hypermodern chess - Aron Nimzowitsch.
This book is easier to read, and more fun than "My System" or "Chess Praxis" written by Nimzo himself.
It esentially examinines most of the same topics; prophylaxis, overprotection, restriction, blockade, centralization, doubled pawns, etc. In addition, the second part of the book contains a huge collection of games played by Nimzovich throughout his career. They are reasonably well annotated by Keene with some reflections about how they might stack up by todays standards.
I would probably recommend that you read "My System" or "Chess Praxis" first and then tackle this book for re-inforcement. But keep in mind that this book is easier to wade through than the other two due to a more modern writing style.
The diagrams, binding, text , game collections, interviews, and notes are all first rate. This is a great book and worthy of study by anyone wanting to add depth to your game.

Customer Reviews:
Stock Spllits.......2006-08-21
This is an excellent "how to" book written by someone who makes a living in the stock market. There is no "fill" or other generic stuff, it is all valuable information.
Sub-standard book.......2006-05-18
I have read many investment books but this book is just a piece of garbage. Compare this book to a late night commercial on TV where the guys claim that they made $50,000 in less than a week. But in practice people end up loosing money. If profiting from stock split is an effective technique, do you ever think Darlene Nelson will disclose the secret to the public?. I have been testing this strategy for the past five months and I can very well say that this never works...If you guys are want to make money in Wall street, learn from experts like William O'Neil, Martin Sweige, Jim Cramer etc.
I bought this book because of excellent review found on this site. Now I am convinced that those reviews were posted by the author or people who work for them. What a shame!.
Lot of repetetion.......2005-09-28
The entire book could be written in about 25 pages. The same ideas has been said over and over again sometimes makeing it confusing. But a good read all in all.
Stock Splits: a highly profitable way to make money.......2004-07-11
Most people have heard about stock splits but know nothing about them or why they are so powerful. Some people have even been dupped by supposed financial authorities who claim that there is no benefit to stock splits. This is pure nonsense.
Stock splits are a powerful and highly profitable way to make money in the stock market. Stock splits substantially outperform the market as a whole. Don't believe me? Are you a doubting Thomas?
Do this this. Do back and check on the following stock symbols:
ADSK, EBAY, and CFC for starters. Then go to Yahoo and click on stock splits and check any other stock you want to and compare these stocks witht he market as a whole. Result? In good times or bad times, stock split companies have way outperformed the market as a whole. Some companies like EBAY and CFC have done incredibly well. Had you bought ADSK and held on to it after it split, you would have more than doubled your money.
One problem. How do you profitably play splits? Aside from WADE COOK's WALL STREET MONEY MACHINE series, this is the only book that discusses stock splits and it does it even better than Wade
Cook does in his books.
The Nelson's have taken stock splits and from actual experience developed it into a science.
With stock splits it is possible to make 200% annualized returns. Put that into your IRA or regular account and tell me what that is worth to you!
Great book for all success oriented investors.
Good book on playing stock splits.......2003-09-27
Most people are ware of stock splits, but how many people know how to play them properly?
This book picks up where Wade Cook leaves off in WSMM#1 and WSMM#2-Stock market Miracles.
I like the fact that the Nelson's explain NOT to play all stocks just because they are going to exercise a stock split. Rather, they explain how to find the best stocks and trade them successfully.
I made and continue to make continous cash flow just by playing splits and rolling stocks.
Other books I recommend are WSMM#1 and WSMM#2-Stock MArket Miracles and WSMM #4 and Rolling Stocks.
Ignore the naysayer. Obviously he hasn't read ot tried the advice. His loss!
Book Description
In 1920, at the age of thirty-five, Amedeo Modigliani died in poverty and neglect in Paris, much like a figure out of La Boh`eme. His life had been as dramatic as his death. An Italian Jew from a bourgeois family, "Modi" had a weakness for drink, hashish, and the many women-including the Russian poet Anna Akhmatova-who were drawn to his good looks. His friends included Picasso, Utrillo, Soutine, and other important artists of his day, yet his own work stood apart, generating little interest while he lived. Today's art world, however, acknowledges him as a master whose limited oeuvre-sculptures, portraits, and some of the most appealing nudes in the whole of modern art-cannot satisfy collectors' demand.
With a lively but judicious hand, biographer Jeffrey Meyers sketches Modigliani and the art he produced, illuminating not only this little-known figure but also the painters, writers, lovers, and others who inhabited early twentieth-century Paris with him.
Customer Reviews:
Good but needs more photo's!.......2006-12-06
Meyers provides a wonderful insight into the harsh world, both mentally and physically, of Modigliani (Modi) and the art scene at the turn of 20th C Paris. Along with the tortured world of Modi, Meyers also offers bios of Modi's contemporaries, art dealers and lovers...Soutine, Lipchitz, Brancusi, Utrillo, Derain, Picasso, Pascin, Gris, Severini, Kisling etc. And the lives of this lot wasn't all roses either, with a number of them coming to various grisly ends. However, many of them were to find varying degrees of fame during their lifetime. Alas for Modi that wasn't the case. Frequently on the verge of starvation, trading drawings for food, drink & drugs, suffering from tuberculosis, charismatic while sober, menacing while drunk, he wouldn't back down and subscribe to any one of the various "isms" that were currently rife in Paris. He knew he had a unique style lurking within and belligerently strove to expose it. African art had a huge impact on his final style. And even when he managed to sell a painting (often bought out of pity) he would only accept a couple of francs even though the buyer was offering more.
As with most artistic tragedies, Modi was ahead of his time. Towards the end of his life his pictures sold for approx 150 francs. Ten years later those same paintings commanded 500,000 francs. And today they exchange hands at auction for tens of millions of dollars, making Modi's "unique" vision the most sought after compared with his contemporaries (Picasso aside).
Meyers, through Modi and the other artists, provides good insight in to the squalid conditions that existed in Montmartre and Montparnasse. Modi's charm and good looks certainly made him a hit with the ladies. He had a string of lovers and fathered a number of children also. His last love, Jeanne, jumped to her death 2 days after his.
The book is flawed by the short supply of photo's with only 23 works collected here, and they are in b&w. Throughout the book Meyers provides descriptions of many of Modi's works, but due to the scant selection provided I found myself looking elsewhere for images. "A picture is worth a 1000 words" is particularly apt here. Eventually, I found myself skimming over his descriptions as they were fairly arbitrary focusing on colours, body/head positions, which didn't lend anything to the story. I got the impression that maybe Meyers had intended to include a greater selection but possibly for cost cutting or copyright reasons that was curtailed close to publishing. Or he's just padding out the text. Also there appears to be one photograph and 1 painting that are titled differently to the text.
This is the first book I have read on Modigliani so I cannot offer any comparison with other bio's available. I found it to be a good read. Meyers sews together the various aspects of Modi's life well. The writing style is straightforward compared with the convoluted writings that pervade art literature.
Recommended.
Love of the Loved.......2006-06-10
I cried thinking of the tormented genius we all admired in the recent feature biopic Modigliani starring Andy Garcia. As Jeffrey Meyers points out in his workmanlike bio, Modligiani inspired at least five poems and nine novels, and also there was an earlier biopic which sounds terrific starring from 1958, directed by France's great cinema genius Hacques Becker. This film, Les Amants du Montparnasse, stars Gerald Philipe in the title role, and Lea Padovani (from CHRIST IN CONCRETE) as his leading lady, and of all people Lilli Palmer playing the very English Beatrice Hastings, while poor Anouk Aimee assigned to undergo the mist difficult of all the parts, poor doomed Jeanne Hebuterne. Can't wait to see this one on DVD!
However until then cry your eyes out reading about how Modligiani, who came from the Italian-Jewish section of Livorno which also gave birth to many of Italy's greatest 20th century novelists including Primo Levi, soon became a master of painting, although he had only one one-person show in his entire brief life, and you could go to a box and buy one of his drawings for the equuvalent of 25 cents. Though some women thought him a great lover, Meyers hints that perhaps his circumcised penis caused him to "stand out" from other men in pre World War I France, and ceryainly his treatment of poor Jeanne, who loved him so much, was awful. He raped her on first meeting her and she had to beg a seamstress to sew up her underwear before she could return home to her parents. A painter herself, Jeanne had the strange, "Goth" look of one who has lived a long time in underground burrows like the Hobbits, and her yellow braids were pinned over her ears like earmuffs, or, some said, like microphones so she could spy on others more effectively. Modi was a terrible dad, and he wasn't very good about committing himself to others, but, as Meyers reveals, he was a very good painter, and he picked up poetry tips from another girlfriend, diva assoluta Anna Akhmatova.
Meyers argues that his painting broke traditions of Jewish art by including pubic hair in his nudes of women. He is on shakier ground however in trying to determine which of Modi's paintings are authentic. It's shocking to see how much Modi's paintings have increased in value over the years. Rats ate a whole slew of his drawings, because they were stained with sausage crumbs and grease. Speculators had a field day, and forgers too. Women loved him and cried real tears when he died, only in his thirties, of painful TB, and poor doomed Jeanne tried to live without him for awhile, but she liked it not, and instead she jumped to her death within 48 hours of his funeral service.

ORDINARY LIVES AFFECTED BY GREAT ART.......2004-12-29
With "Girl Hyacinth Blue" and "The Passion of Artemisia" author Susan Vreeland has done much to resurrect the reading public's interest in the lives of great artists. In this intriguing collection of stories her focus is again on art, but rather than relating an artist's life she comes to her subject from a different angle - the secondary characters who were part of the artist's lives and how art can affect ordinary people, both positively and negatively.
Fans of van Gogh well know that one of his favorite models was the son of the postman in Arles. This relationship offers Vreeland the opportunity to give readers a view of the young lad's personal life and how he is reacting to the world around him at this stage in his life. We find a gardener employed by Monet emotionally shattered when the artist destroys his Water Lily paintings.
The use of the physical and emotional investment of ordinary people in the lives of the great Impressionists and Postimpressionists adds a rich texture to the idea of what art can mean.
Film, stage and television actress Karen White reads these stories with lyricism and depth of understanding. Those who heard her on the audio version of Vreeland's "The Forest Lover" know they're in for another treat.

The Root Causes of Sudan's Civil Wars (African Issues)
ASIN: 0813321212 |
Book Description
After a decade of uneasy peace, the historic conflict between the Northern and Southern Sudanese erupted into violent conflict in 1983. This ferocious civil war has devastated the populace, who have also suffered the ravages of drought and famine. Over a million people have either perished or been displaced. This chilling account is based on a wealth of documents - never made public - from Sudanese government sources, private and foreign governmental famine relief agencies, and international media. The authors graphically recount how the attempts of international and humanitarian organizations to provide food and medical relief have been thwarted by bureaucratic infighting, corruption, greed, and ineptitude. It is a sad tale of the tragic human consequences of the failure of conflict resolution, of organizational mismanagement, and of a government hostile toward its own people.

Customer Reviews:
Broad Range of Viewpoints - Easy to Understand.......2007-02-01
This book presents many ideas about how Judaism relates to ecology. Although I am not Jewish I found all the selections interesting and easy to understand.
Not what it claims to be........2003-08-31
I have only one way to describe this book - JUNK. Don't waste your money on it. There should be a "minus/negative" scoring, this one would get a - 10 stars.
