The house of Valois ruled France for 250 years, playing a crucial role in its establishment as a major European power. When Philip VI came to the throne, in 1328, France was a weak country, with much of its modern area under English rule. Victory in the Hundred Years' War, and the acquisition of Brittany and much of Burgundy, combined with a large population and taxable wealth, made the France of Francis I the only power in Europe capable of rivaling the Hapbsburg empire of Charles V. Francis displayed his power by spectacular artistic patronage and aggressive foreign wars. Following the death of Henry II in a tournament, the problems of two royal minorities and the divisive forces of the Reformation led to the temporary eclipse of royal power. When the last Valois, Henry III, was stabbed to death by a Dominican Friar in 1589, the dynasty was already discredited but the monarchy survived intact.

This book is like no other I have read. It entwines history with spirituality and is so accurately researched one might wonder why it wasn't used in history class. This book has changed my life! It has given me a whole new outlook on everything and everyone. I am planning my journey to France, which will no doubt be a life-changing experience! The gilt-edged paperback cover might throw some readers off as to the content, but don't let that stop you. This is no typical romance novel. This book is a true heart-gripping historical masterpiece from the first page until the very last, and will have you thinking about it for a very long time afterwards!
Best history lesson outside a classroom........1997-07-16
Look past the ditzy title of this novel and you'll find a painstakingly-researched, lovingly-detailed , fast-paced tale of a kingdom saved by a female warrior. I took this book with me on holiday and stayed cooped up in the hotel finishing it rather than go sightseeing. Yes, it's that involving. The book even launched me on a Joan of Arc pilgrimage to Rouen. Take the conspiracy theories with a grain of salt, have an unsurpassed read, and emerge to impress your friends with random details about 15th century France

The book was a page turner,finished in 3 hours. It tells the tale of peter shifting his energy into a sport instead of getting in to gang activities. It also speaks of the racism that Peter experienced avancing as a black fencer in a mostly white
sport. I especially enjoyed his adventures on the subway and
how he reacted in confrontational situations! A must read for
subway travelers!

I have read almost all the stud poker books. This is the most insightful and the easiest to understand. I read and re-read this book and I win at stud.

DEFINITELY not worth the prices people ask for this book. Not even close. It's getting to the point that they should probably reprint it sometime soon, if people are actually paying $100 for it (are people actually paying these prices for this book? I don't think so...)
Anyway, as far as the quality of the information, it delivers the basics on 7 stud games, but it doesn't offer anything that existing books don't already provide (for like 1/5th the asking price). The fact is, Stud is a pretty straight-forward game. It just doesn't have the nuances of no-limit games where pages and pages of philosophy are required. If you are seriously considering purchasing this book at these absurd asking prices, you are much better off taking that same $75, depositing it on a poker website and actually playing Stud, thus learning for yourself. The experience you get for your money will be worth a lot more than whatever you think you will be getting out of this book.

This book is not really worth the money. I'd pay a few dollars just for the info on how to price a practice.
First the name of the book has nothing to do with the content of the book which is about selling a massage practice.
A great title like Success Beyond work to me means how to make a successful living without working - but using your creativy to go beyond working and following your call.
For the most part, as a self-employed massage therapist who does all of the work yourself, your practice is not very sellable. You may be able to sell you list to a new therapist, but for the most part people are coming to get massage because of you.
The way to sell a practice is to have a practice in which other people work for you in someway which is what she says but isn't that obvious?
And get a lawyer to help you with the sale and details.
Some of her advice on how to deal with clients who do not show for their appointments is off the mark. She gives people one time to not pay and warns them. They should be told the rules when they sign up for their first appointment.
There is much better information for free online or other books on marketing a massage practice such as "Business Mastery".
Her book should be used more as a free pamphlet to build her coaching business as that is all it really is.

This was a very small book that contained information that could be located for free on the internet with a little time. I had been receiving e-mails from her marketing for some time and was considering the marketing plans she offers, but the book gave me so little I was weary about spending any more money. If you are planning to begin your business on your own in your own rented space, it may be helpful, but I still think the info presented could be located on your own with little effort.
A must have for every massage therapist..........2006-02-16
Buying this book is one of the most inexpensive ways to invest in yourself and your practice as a massage therapist. Colleen created a thriving business, eventually sold it, and is giving you the tools on how to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Her marketing skills prove to work in helping you minimize your work load but increase your profits. I truly believe this book is a must have (especially for students entering the field). I wish I found this book years ago.
Success Beyond Work: What Prosperous Massage Therapists Know.......2005-07-21
Quick read, easily understandable. It was nice to hear from someone trained in the profession who was successful in developing a saleable business, rather than just creating a list of clients with limited resale value. For me, there were a few loose strings about how to make the various moves and what to use as your metrics for taking the next step. But, that's what we have financial advisors for isn't it? Worth the read.

This is the only book I've seen that gave me precise ideas for marketing my massage business, and I've applied them. The book also gave me great ideas for adding income to my business without doing more massage. Thanks, Colleen!

An easy-to-use book richly increasing awareness of God.......1999-10-09
This is an extraordinarily fruitful book for Christians interested in spiritual growth, i.e., in practicing the presence of God in our lives. It is very easy to use and opens up paths of growth for many different personality types and for different seasons in one's life. Teresa was/is amazingly insightful and this book frequently very gently and peacefully opens one up to the presence of the Lord with quiet reflection, guided meditation, and lectio divina. It has helped open more space in my life where I am aware of Jesus' presence in a quiet, loving way. This book has been and continues to be a very special resource that God is using to expand my awareness of His never-ceasing, unlimited love and passion towards us. I am very grateful for this book.

In this very readable historiacl survey of U.S.-Latin American realations, Smith develops a template which demonstrates the logic of U.S. policy and Latin American response within the context of the global situation. To accomplish this, he breaks history into three general time periods: 1790s-Cold War, The Cold War, and the post-Cold War. In each of these periods, Smith develops the global context or "rules of the game", then moves on to the resulting U.S. policy. He finishes each historical era with an incisive analysis of Latin American options for response. This book is a must for students of Latin America and certainly for those individuals whose activities, whether they be commercial or official in nature, are shaping the book's next chapter.
