House of the Turquoise Roof: A Bird's Eye View.......2001-01-23
"House of the Turquoise Roof" is a fascinating look into Old Tibet. Customs and religious rituals are described and explained in a detail that provides a clear picture of life as it was for the Tibetan upper class families. The author is a keen observer, and in spite of the difficulties that were encountered in the book's creation, has still given a story well worth reading.
Even the author's perspective, clearly influenced by the customs and manners she describes, serves to reinforce the picture that she paints. While the casual reader may find the lengthy and often similar Tibetan names to be confusing, the story in itself somehow transcends this minor difficulty.
The reviewer only regrets that Mrs. Yuthok's associations were primarily limited to the Tibetan upper class and family servants; there is relatively little exploration of Tibetan peasant life, and in spite of Mrs. Yuthok's high family connections in government, little discussion of the political developments of the day.
Still, for overall interest, this book is more than just "good," and the reviewer recommends that you sit down with a bag of popcorn and enjoy yourself.

Book Description
The former Kansas City Chiefs' superstar wide receiver tells his life story, with an insider's look at the AFL/NFL player wars, racism in sports and America, and his place in football history.
Customer Reviews:
Probably more like 3 1/4 stars.......2006-01-30
Otis Taylor tells his life story in his honest way. He really was a great player and he knows that and tells you so, but it mostly doesn't come off as too arrogant, just honest.
Taylor does a great job covering his life through the early seventies. He enjoyed a lot of success, as did his team, the Kansas City Chiefs. He provides some thought-provoking glimpses into racism and teamwork in a turbulent era.
My only real complaint is that the book seems to quickly run out of steam as the Chiefs and Taylor fade. I would have loved to learn more about such a great athlete fading and accepting his career's end. I can handle his openness about his greatness, but how about when the greatness starts to diminish? The book does pick up a bit when Taylor discusses his post-playing career.
A NICE READ.......2005-10-17
THIS BOOK IS ABOUT FORMER KANSAS CITY CHIEF GREAT, OTIS TAYLOR. I LIKED THIS BOOK BECAUSE OF THE HONESTY AND SINCERITY OF OTIS TAYLOR. HE DOES A NICE JOB OF TELLING HIS LIFE STORY INCLUDING HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH HANK STRAM, LEN DAWSON AND MANY OTHERS. I THOUGHT OTIS NEVER GOT THE CREDIT HE DESERVED AS ONE OF THE GREAT WIDE RECEIVERS OF HIS TIME. HALL OF FAME SHOULD INCLUDE HIM. A REAL NICE READ FOR CHIEF AND FOOTBALL FANS. RECOMMENDED.

A well-written, useful guide to horror on videotape through 1994. It covers a lot of films, yet is small enough to carry to the video store. Each title is listed with plot summary, fun-to-read review, date, distributor, MPAA rating (where applicable), running time, director, cast, and a half-to-four-star rating. Includes mainstream, cult, foreign (but not Asian), and exploitation titles. Has 100 sidebar essays on important actors and directors, and plenty of black-and-white illustrations. For a surprisingly high percentage of the films, this reviewer agreed with the author's even-handed assessments.

Intelligent, Comprehensive, and Concise.......2004-11-15
I had read both positive and negative reviews on this guide and figured I would take a chance. I found this guide to be comprehensive in its coverage of titles with concise yet informative reviews (do keep in mind that this book was published in 1994). James O'Neill comes across as someone who is a horror movie buff yet is objective enough to sort out the bad and the good in a very cliched genre. Since there have been some negative reviews on this page for the book, I present the following short summations as an attempt to answer some of these reviews: 1) This book is titled 'Terror on Tape' and therefore concentrates its focus on horror movies available on tape. It was never represented as a complete coverage of horror movies whether on tape or not. 2) O'Neill is not anti-slasher, just anti-bad movie. Too many horror buffs reviewing movies have a tendency to rate them on their gore, infamy, and nudity content as opposed to whether they are any good (plot, script, direction, etc). 3) The reviews are concise giving a basic plot outline, the particulars (actors, director, year, etc.), alternative titles, and of course his opinion. He accomplishes in his reviews what others have failed to do in longer reviews and does not attempt to spoil the movie. Additionally he does not borrow stock reviews and rewrite them for his guide as is a practice in many video review guides. 4) Since this guide concentrates on horror movies on tape (pre-1994) the coverage is obviously going to be slanted toward available titles on tape (although it would appear obvious, some reviewers apparently missed that point).---Although I do not agree with every review in the guide, I do find more hits than misses. It is additionally notable that it is obvious that O'Neill has seen the movies he has reviewed as compared to some guides I have read which left me wondering if the reviewer had actually seen the movie they reviewed. Unfortunately, that appears to be a common practice for the sake of coverage. You will not find that to be the case with 'Terror on Tape'. A comprehensive yet easy to carry guide.-Bob *[James O'Neill also wrote a companion book called 'Sci-Fi on Tape'. Amazon has it listed as well.]
the only referance book i keep going back to.......2001-10-31
i bought this book when it first came out, i was in junior high at the time. its been with me for two high schools and and two collage degrees. its lived with me in three collage dorms, three states, two countries and a half dozen apartments. i cannot think of any other personal item that has. the reviews are brief, but informative and writen with a visable appreciation for the horror genre. where other horror references tend to over explain the plots or not rate the movies, this book does not spoil endings and it cross references the relationships between remakes, sequals, knock-offs and source material. also the writter's personality makes reading this book feel like talking to your favorite video-store clerk. the only complaint i have is that the biographies are not in alphabetical order. i only hope that soon there will be a supliment published
Pretty Bad.......2000-07-13
In a world where so many books have been slopped together trying to cover a genre such as horror videos, this one is reallly the worst. A comparison would be the volumes done by Joe Bob Briggs, the CREATURE FEATURE sets, and so on, who don't think that horror films were non-existant before NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. Very, very poor homework.
Smashing.......2000-06-26
this Book Roxs........ i am hoping that this man of mistery makes a conclusion of this book......Terror on Tape:The Nightmare is not over
Exceptional quick reference guide.......2000-03-25
I think the negative reviewers may have been seeking something else when they examined this book--this is general reference book that gives the reader a quick, concise synopsis & review of a great number of films. It covers over 2000 films whereas McCarty's (very good) Splatter Guides only cover around 400 movies each. I agree that the reviews are lacking in depth, but the breadth of coverage is what makes this book a fantastic reference. I don't know of any other book that covers so many films. When I encounter a new film or am trying to recall a film, this book provides just the right amount of information. If I wish to get in-depth analyses and do extended reading, I'll go elsewhere, but this is an essential reference book--the one I go to first. I only hope there is plan to keep it updated.

Customer Reviews:
Finally found the starter book.......2006-10-06
I have been researching for months to find a good 'starter' book to begin a chess club. I have searched online and made many stops at book stores and even asked many questions. Some of the books out there are excellent, but the cost was a little more than I wanted to spend as I am starting the club for homeschoolers and wanted to do it more as a ministry than a money-making enterprise.
To me, a great technician doesn't always translate to a great teacher. No doubt Kasparov was the former, but after reading this book he is definitely the latter as well. I believe it is an excellent book for beginners and even intermediates will find clear and colorful information here. It is also fun to read (a great quality especially for young people). The contents are:
1) the basics
2) the pieces and their moves
3) notation
4) winning and drawing
5) more about the pieces
6) tactical play
7) checkmate
8) opening play
9) endgame play
10) solutions to puzzles
11) glossary
For my needs it clearly achieves a 5 star rating. It is an inexpensive way to start a club or even to teach children. Not only that, but I will be teaching my wife tonight using this very book.
Thanks Gary!
An excellent way to learn the basics of chess .......2005-11-29
In my first week of the fourth grade, the teacher announced that everyone in the class was going to learn how to play chess. She believed that it was the best game to be incorporated into an educational scheme and she was right. We all learned and certain times each week were set aside for games of chess. It was a very popular time, as playing any game was preferable to doing other things like spelling and writing practice.
I am in complete agreement with this philosophy, firmly believing that everyone should learn to play chess. This book is an excellent way to start, which is what you would expect, given that Kasparov is considered the best chess player ever. He starts with a description of the pieces, how they can move and their power rankings. From this, he sets up the game and explains the basic goal of the game as well as the algebraic notation used to represent the movement of the pieces. Kasparov uses a series of situations to illustrate problems, such as how to force a (stale)mate from a specific orientation. Solutions to these problems are given at the end and many of them are nontrivial. You are really required to think hard before finding the answer to some of them.
Basic strategies such as classical openings, defenses, the pin, a skewer and back rank mating options are covered. The illustrations are very high quality and it could have been used as the textbook for my fourth grade class, where I first learned how to play. Adult beginners will also find it an excellent way to learn.

Big Disappointment.......2006-02-03
With Kasparov's name on the title page I was looking forward to analysis on par with his other Pergamon/Cadogan books on matches 2 (New World Chess Champion) and 3 (London/Leningrad Championship Games). I was sadly disappointed. The analysis in here is very weak, on the level of what Keene usually provides in his hack jobs. I recommend the book by Karpov's team (ISBN 0812919238) instead.

The Power of Deep Calculations at your Fingertips.......2001-04-25
As you may well know, Garry Kasparov is the highest rated player in chess history, it is said that he aclompished that because of his deep knowledge and preparation in openning theory, his extreme study in the end game, but most of all, he is considered a combination genius. Some of his most impresive victories come from amazing sacrifices and moves that lead to unquestionable wins, and now you can have them explained to you by the master himself, who in his own words, tactics is the most important thing to be studied in chess, after tactics have been mastered one can move to openings.
Not only will he explain the moves from his own games, but from other masters as well like, Kramnik, Anand, Polgar, Shirov, and many others. The book is dividen in perfectly defined sections like queen sacrifices and rook sacrifices with a short exaple at the begining of each chapter and a collection of exercises taken out from real master's games. A little hard for complete begginers, but nevertheless invaluable.
Garry Kasparov's puzzle book.......2000-06-09
This book is great! Ideal 4 the improving player.Written by the world's best attacking player! What else can u ask 4! You 'll be in 4 some spectacular combinations!
It has a chapter for every piece (usually the combination starts with that piece)& a few annotated games at the start of each chapter too (usually from crunch time until resignation) It opens your mind to new posivilities & they serve as new chess weapons to players unwary of them.A VERY good book.
The only drawback is that you know with wich piece the combination starts with, wich makes it sometimes too obvious the starting move order. On the 2nd puzzle book by Kasparov this is improved by giving you hints of what the position calls for, so you will have to guess what piece is the one the combo start with.

really really basic.......2007-07-25
A lot of repetition of really obvious things. Really basic definitions of margins and profit. The book could have been reduced to 3 pages it would have been good enough. No real focus on restaurant business.
Might be an eye opener if you are 10 years old and were thinking of opening a restaurant. If you are serious about your project, you will not learn anything in this book. Useless...
In depth and thought provoking........1999-10-19
This book is a quick and easy guide to cutting food costs in the restaurant business. More than anything else it makes you think of ideas to make your own business more profitable. This is a book that you will want to assign to your entire kitchen staff.

Book Description
David Horowitz underwent the most dramatic political conversion since Whittaker Chambers. And at every stop of his intellectual journey, he has produced sparkling and provocative commentary. From his youthful days as a leader of the New Left in the 1960s to his current role as master strategist of the right, Horowitz's polemical legacy is unmatched in wit and integrity.
Horowitz's newest book, Left Illusions: An Intellectual Odyssey, provides the first map of his intellectual development. Complementing his acclaimed autobiography, Radical Son, the selections in Left Illusions range from his first book, published over forty years ago, to his most recent writings on the war against terror. The pieces include his polemics, journalism, and scholarship, along with select chapters from most of his books. Their subjects range from the origins of the New Left to the Cold War, from the fall of communism to political radicalism, race relations, the war on terror, the intellectual culture wars, and modern conservatism. Twenty-eight of the selections have not been published in book form or are contained in texts that are generally unavailable.
"I make no apologies for my present position," Horowitz writes. "My values have not changed, but my sense of what supports them and makes them possible has." He became profoundly disillusioned with the radical movement because of a tragedy both personal and political. The whole fascinating story is here for the reader to follow as it unfolded. Left Illusions is really the story of our times, lived out by an extraordinary individual.

"Deception".......2007-10-06
Did He clarify that he is a Jewish Zionist? "Deception" is what the Zionists believe in to achieve their goals.
David Horowitz's Greatest Hits........2007-07-19
I have been a huge David Horowitz fan since 2000 when his Hating Whitey was the book that finally made me realize how foolish I had been to ever vote for the Democrats in the first place. In the time since, I have read just about everything he has ever written. Left Illusions is a compendium of essays that encompass his entire career as a writer and a thinker. A few articles, such as The Passion of the Jews, date back to the time when he was a radical. One of them he probably wishes he had back as it makes mention of Noam Chomsky's "intellectual integrity and moral courage" which is as much a relic of a bygone age as polyester pantsuits and wondering whether the Rosenbergs were guilty. Of course, even when he was a leftist David Horowitz was a great polemicist and seeing the way his mind and outlook have blossomed over time is a worthy exercise. If anyone out there only knows him as a television personality and pundit then this work is heartily recommended as it offers up 400 pages of Horowitz's best stuff. How to Beat the Democrats and The Art of Political War are prerequisites for conservatives nowadays--particularly after George W. Bush has turned the GOP into a Grand Spending Party. His treatment of AIDS and the Radical Holocaust--which came about due to the left's refusal to shut down the bathhouses and honestly discuss HIV transmission--is outstanding and unique as few commentators had the guts to address these issues the way he did at the time. The idea of the left being "Neo-Communist" has unfortunately never caught on as he makes a convincing case here for our adopting that moniker as a means to describe them. It is not a stretch considering their hatred for corporations and their lust for stealing from the people to give to the government. There is also a previously unpublished piece, The Era of Progressive Witch-Hunts, which is included as well. Overall, Left Illusions is a weighty and mighty political toolbox.
Another good read from Horowitz..........2007-05-29
Excellent read. I especially enjoyed his straight-forward organization of the book into chapters as opposed to a general narrative. Just more of the fact-based, logical, conservative thinking that has made him well-known.
Hell Hath no Fury like An Ex-Commie Scorned!.......2006-11-28
While I definitely agree with horowitz on (and have experienced first hand)the extreme toxicity of the left-I'm not paying for any more recycled chapters! Also I am not a neo con and can't take their hypocritical support of the most monstrous affirmative action project of all time: Israel. While I seriously agree with him on the black power movement's "fatuous" and dangerous racialism-his obsession with anti-semitism and categorical support for Israel give him no room to talk. His "intrusions of ego" as some conservatives have labeled his work are tiresome, and his is just a sickly hungry wounded ego I have no desire to feed any longer. For Example, Horowitz's obsessive (which seems to be his most overriding and monotonous trait) self-pitying ruminations about his family just really aren't that interesting.
Definitely check this book out-I wouldn't buy it.
Excellent!.......2006-05-15
This is a fantastic book that presents logical, well-argued ideas that are never heard on college campuses today. As a moderately conservative college student, I wish the moderate liberals here would read it. It says a lot about conservative ideology, refuting liberals' claims that conservatives are rascist, control the media, hate the poor, etc. His writings about conservatives on college campuses are so true, and it was really a shame. But what I found most disturbing was that much of the information and ideas Horowitz presents are topics that we have discussed endlessly in our college classes, and not once has anything from the alternative side. As Horowitz says, any view that strays from the exact far left view is either suppressed or subject to vicious attack. I really recommend this book, it is very enlightening.

Book Description
Craig Chapman presents the definitive history of the First North Carolina Volunteers/11th Regiment North Carolina Troops--the legendary Bethel Regiment.
Customer Reviews:
Well written, extremely informative book on North Carolina's premier regiment in Civil War........2006-07-08
The book is well written, and quite informative. It is about North Carolina's most famous regiment in the Civil War. While this might seem like a book of narrow appeal, it offers a great deal about how the war was conducted and should be of interest to any Civil War buff. I bought the book because I had an ancestor that served in it. I learned far more than I had expected. As a former
Infantry Officer and a Physician, I was also interested in tactics, morale, supply, casualties and their handling, intelligence and care of the soldier from recriutment to the end (whether death or discharge). I found all of these and much more! The battles are well described, as well.
Expecting a regimental history, I found a greater comprehension of life in the South during the War, it's politics, it's problems and their solutions, and a great military overview of many areas. If you liked Gone With the Wind, or Cold Mountain, or Shelby Foote's volumes on the history, you will get some of each here. I highly recommend this surprising book to anyone interested in the Civil War.
Thorough Accounting of the Bethel Regiment in the Civil War .......2005-08-02
A must-have book for anyone with ancestors who fought in this unit, the reporting is both academically complete and personal.
Clear and stirring battle descriptions.......2004-01-01
While researching my genealogy last summer I came across this book. My great grandfather was Woodson Garrett who is mentioned in this book and who served in the Bethel Regiment. I visited several of the battlefields and the descriptions of the battles here are coherent and emotionally charged. Highly recommended.
Top notch Regimental History.......2003-02-24
Craig Chapman's book struck a chord here. As one who is very much interested in Gettysburg, and the Overland Campaign of 1864, I am glad I found this jewel of a book. The author writes the story very well, and the research that he has done is exceptional in this tale of the boys from the Tarheel state.
This regiment is not as well known as the the 26th NC, but their trevails at Gettysburg was just as horrible. It also illustrates how they were used in the Overland Campaign...and the perils and suffering that they went through in 1864.
I heartily recommend the book, and can confidently say if you read it, it will be tough to put down.

A very useful resource with one small flaw.......2007-02-23
This book is of tremendous use to anyone interested in Greek Philosophy. It is a dictionary that also gives (in a rather abbreviated form, naturally) the history of the usage of a given philosophical term. Now, this terse 'history' of the term is confined to the realm of ancient (or non-monotheistic) thought. Thus 'hyle', for example, is defined and discussed not only in Aristotelian terms but also in comparison with its usage in Plato, Stoicism and Plotinus too. As indicated, this is done in an extremely abbreviated manner. Now, all Greek terms are transliterated into our Alphabet - which is good; but it would also have been even more helpful if the term appeared written in the Greek alphabet too. Why? This would help students begin to recognize the Greek term whenever it appears in texts. Many specialized studies in Greek philosophy, for example, assume that anyone reading the text is already fully competent in Greek and thus they do not bother to translate or transliterate Greek terms. But I can assure you that this competence is not always the case! Thus, a book like this which was intended to be helpful to students could have been even more helpful by at least once printing the term in Greek next to its transliteration into our alphabet. The perfect spot to have done this would have been the useful 30 page English-Greek Index that ends the book. Also note that since this book is aimed at the 'intermediate student' it was presumed that the reader has "some familiarity with the material it has been judged safe to substitute, in a fairly thorough way, a terminology transliterated directly from the Greek for their English equivalents in a modest effort at lightening the historical baggage." This means that they usually use, for example, 'stoicheion' for 'element' and 'physis' for 'nature'. And this is a good thing. But they still should have shown each term at least once in the original Greek...
That said, this book is a wonderful accessory to the study of Greek philosophical terms made necessary by the fact that the philosophical tradition has, over the many centuries, turned words that were used in ordinary Greek language into technical terms. So this book is also a work of recovery. Of course, this turn towards technical language is not simply a post-classical innovation. In fact, our author insists that "the implication the Socratic-centered Platonic dialogue is still that two reasonably educated citizens can sit down and discuss these matters. Whether this is the truth of the matter or mere literary rhetoric we cannot tell. But no such premiss is visible in Aristotle who insists on a standardized technical usage." So we see, according to our author, that relatively early ordinary Greek terms began taking on resonances that the ordinary Greek would not have known. Where the usual History of Philosophy tells its story through successive schools of thought, this book, though of course not intended as an ordinary history, tells the story of Greek Philosophy through the movement of the meaning (and use) of concepts. The entries, though terse, are cross-referenced and this too I found to be quite useful. Also, and this too was quite useful, citations of the Greek texts are usually given. Thus if one isn't certain of the explanation one can go to the cited text and see its full usage. This book has been an excellent resource for me. Naturally, you will need to supplement this book, which only contains Greek Philosophical Terms, with a copy of Liddell and Scott's Greek-English Lexicon. How would I improve this book? First and most importantly, each Greek philosophical term must, at least once, appear in the Greek script. Secondly, some of the entries really do need to be expanded. The historical lexicon itself is only 200 pages. However, these are quibbles, four and a half stars for a very useful book for beginning to intermediate students. Generally, when one is beyond that level of competence, the only opinion one trusts is ones own...
In order to give an idea of the range of this dictionary I close by listing the entries for 'a':
adiaphoron
aer
agathon
agenetos
agnostos
agrapha dogmata
agraphos nomos
aidios
aion
aisthesis
aisthesis koine
aistheton
aither
aition
aletheia
algos
allegoria
alloiosis
analogia
anamnesis
ananke
anaplerosis
apatheia
apeiron
aphairesis
aphthartos
apodeixis
aporia
aponia
aporrhoai
arche
arete
arithmos
arithmos eidetikos
arithmos mathematikos
asymmetron
ataraxia
athanatos
atomon
autarkeia
automaton
Now, note that some of these terms had no information, they simply direct a student to another entry. Thus the 'agraphos nomos' entry only has the accepted translation, 'unwritten law', and then the redirect, 'See nomos'. Of these 41 entries 11 are merely 'redirects' to other entries. The length of the entries varies from 5 lines for apodeixis (pointing out, demonstration, truth) to 7 pages for aisthesis (perception, sensation). While there are several entries almost as terse as the entry for apodeixis, the entry for aisthesis is by far the longest of the above. There is no other entry, in 'a', that even reaches a full 2 pages. The entries for 'a' go from page 3 to page 29. The final entry to our lexicon (zoon: living being animal) concludes on page 201. Note that 'b' only has two entries (boulesis: wish and bouleusis: deliberation) and both are redirects. I have only provided these brief indications because Amazon (ultimately, the publisher) provides no 'Search Inside this Book' feature for this book...
Fascinating/Essential Tool for the Study of Greek Philosophy.......2004-02-23
The most comprehensive, accessible dictionary of Greek Philosophical terms. Attractive, well-organized format. The meaning of each word is defined starting from the original historical period of its use, and then its later conceptual development is traced through each successive period of Greek philosophical thought. Thus, the concepts of classical thought are examined both synchronically and dichronically, throughly, and yet, with studied concision.
The utility of the book is enhanced by having such a comprehensive collection of concepts under one cover (235 pages), and an excellent English to Greek index, enabling the reader to cross-reference from concepts in English and find the appropriate word in classical Greek.
Far easier to use for the Greekless reader than Liddell and Scott (which has its own unquestioned domain of utility), and far more detailed in its explanations, the definitions also list related words and concepts, explained in the book.
A mesmorizing read for those with an interest in classical Greek thought and an excellent value.
An essential reference work, but more: a READABLE reference!.......1997-04-21
Not only is this an essential reference work for any library or professional philosophy student, it is also immensely readable. What makes it so rich is the strictly historical approach the author takes: each word is defined according to its meaning in the pre-Socratics and then we learn the career of that word through Plato, Aristotle, and the later Hellenists. An adventure in reading

Book Description
Shaped by fire for thousands of years, the forests of the western United States are as adapted to periodic fires as they are to the region's soils and climate. Our widespread practice of ignoring the vital role of fire is costly in both ecological and economic terms, with consequences including the decline of important fire-dependent tree and undergrowth species, increasing density and stagnation of forests, epidemics of insects and diseases, and the high potential for severe wildfires.
Flames in Our Forest explains those problems and presents viable solutions to them. It explores the underlying historical and ecological reasons for the problems associated with our attempts to exclude fire and examines how some of the benefits of natural fire can be restored Chapters consider:
- the history of American perceptions and uses of fire in the forest
- how forest fires burn
- effects of fire on the soil, water, and air
- methods for uncovering the history and effects of past fires
- prescribed fire and fuel treatments for different zones in the landscape
Flames in Our Forest presents a new picture of the role of fire in maintaining forests, describes the options available for restoring the historical effects of fires, and considers the implications of not doing so. It will help readers appreciate the importance of fire in forests and gives a nontechnical overview of the scientific knowledge and tools available for sustaining western forests by mimicking and restoring the effects of natural fire regimes.

Best summary of the current fire environment in North America today.......2007-06-29
Steve Arno is one of America's premier fire scientists. A solid professional with a knack for writing about technical things in layman's terms, Arno's book is 180 pages of succinct, highly readable, very accurate writing about this critical issue. What is happening with fire in America today? Why does it matter? What do we know? What have we learned? What can we do about it? If you don't read another book about fire, this is the one. Arno's followup, Mimicking Nature's Fire, is an outstanding primer on prescribed fire. I can't wait for Steve's next effort. This is the kind of science that anyone can understand and his conclusions that fire is both necessary and out of balance are compelling, as are his recommendations for where we go from here. To continue to suffer fires like the recent Tahoe disaster, human-caused in every way, with a book like this already showing us the way to more responsible living in the fire environment is just criminal malpractice on the part of citizens and angencies who continue to ignore the truths that Arno so clearly sees. Read this book and then buy a copy for your Senator.
