Wondering how the business aspects of the game have evolved?.......2001-07-04
Tracy Sumner's Karsten's Way is the fascinating biography of Karsten Solheim who was a visionary pioneer in the design of golf clubs, the founder of PING, and for whom The Solheim Cup was named. Karsten's influence and ideas were to profoundly influence both golf and the golf equipment business. If you've ever held a golf club in your hands, or wondered how the business aspects of the game have evolved, this Karsten's Way will prove to be as inspiring as it is informative.
Hear the PING??.......2001-02-17
A good book to read when you feel like things aren't going your way....there's a reason why things happen in people's lives (i.e. GOD)...after i read the book i now know why i felt PING golf equipment is the best...never sacrifice what you believe in
I sincerely commend this book........2000-10-14
Friendship and respect are two of the most precious assets in a man's life. Karsten Solheim enjoyed both in large measures throughout the golf world. We shared a very special relationship, owed to my now having played Ping clubs for 20 years. I sincerely commend this book, "Karsten's Way," for it is above all, the story of a far-sighted pioneer, and an essential record of how he revolutionized golf with his exceptional passions.
where is the golf club maker?.......2000-09-26
If you are looking for a sermon on religion you have come to right place , but if you are looking for a great insight to the mind and workings of the greatest inovator in clubmaking ever....look somewhere else. this book is about 10% golf and 90% religious praise for this beloved man. Don't get me wrong I respect his devout beliefs but that could have been summed up in about 3 pages not 150. I never fealt that I got any info on how he came up with his great club Ideas, the ping website has better information.

In 1996, when Adam Schefter was asked to cowrite Terrell Davis's book, Shefter thought it was a bit premature. After all, Davis had just finished his first year in the NFL. But after Terrell rushed for three touchdowns and 157 yards in the Denver Broncos' Super Bowl XXXII upset victory over the Green Bay Packers, Shefter and Terrell started their work. After spending hundreds of hours with Terrell in an effort to better understand him as a person rather than a player, Shefter wonders why the book wasn't written sooner.
Dreams in Motion certainly captures Davis's gridiron heroics, but more importantly, it focuses on the incredible amount of off-field challenges he's overcome to reach this high level of success. Thanks to his mother's lessons of love, hard work, and high standards, he survives a tough San Diego upbringing, a hard-nosed father, and a football path that derails at almost every level. And despite seemingly less-than-adequate football skills, Davis rises up through the NFL ranks with unwavering resolve, proving the importance of a mother's work. --Ben Tiffany
Book Description
On a sun-filled January day, running back Terrell Davis stood atop a fire truck that slowly wound through downtown Denver during the Broncos' Super Bowl victory parade while 650,000 raucous fans were chanting "TD! TD! TD!"
It was a moment of exhilaration and accomplishment for Terrell, whose record-setting, three-touchdown performance against the Green Bay Packers earned him the Super Bowl XXXII MVP. As he waved and gave the Mile High Salute, Terrell couldn't help but think of how unbelievable it all was, how it had taken so much to get to this shining moment.
"If I were to jump outside my body and get a chance to read my life story, I would say, `Man, that's amazing.' I've never heard, seen, or read a story like this--never."
Terrell had faced hurdles that make carrying a football seem easy in comparison. There were blinding migraine headaches that had haunted him from the age of seven and almost removed him from the Super Bowl; a capricious father, who toughened Terrell in unorthodox ways, yet helped mold him into the person and player he is today; an arrest in college that could have cost him everything he ever wanted; a contentious relationship with his head coach at the University of Georgia that made him more determined than ever.
At Lincoln High School, before being switched to fullback during his senior year, Terrell was a nose guard, attracting scant attention from colleges. At Long Beach State, his college of choice, the football program folded two seasons after Terrell arrived. At Georgia, Terrell saw his stock and reputation almost irreparably damaged, all leading to him becoming the 196th player and 21st running back selected in the 1995 NFL draft. Finally, in his rookie year with the Broncos, he battled from being a sixth-string running back to starter in the span of only one summer. Not since his Pop Warner days, when he was known as "Boss Hogg," was he thought of as a go-to guy, and now, here he was, one of the NFL's top players.
TD: Dreams in Motion is a candid and surprising autobiography, unlike any sports book. It takes you on a journey through Terrell's life and into his mind and heart. It explains how Terrell has been able to maintain the edge that others have lost. It spells out the origins of the Mile High Salute that became a nationally recognized sports symbol and celebration. It discusses the unique relationship he shares with his mother, a remarkable and compassionate woman.
Perhaps most important, TD: Dreams in Motion is inspirational. It helps you understand why Terrell has been able to persevere while others he has known have veered off the road.
Terrell will overwhelm you not with his moves on the football field, but with his words on the page. Searing and gut-wrenching, lighthearted and funny, honest and real, this is Terrell Davis's own story, the memoirs of a champion.

Review of TD: Dreams in Motion.......2001-11-15
After reading this book I felt like I wanted to become a professional football player. Just reading about Terrell Davis's life, I didn't want to stop; it was so interesting. It seemed like this book just couldn't be long enough.
This is an autobiography that Terrell Davis, a superstar running back, told in the first person. This book starts out by Terrell explaining how he was feeling during the Super Bowl XXXII. During this game he got a migraine that took him out of the game for the second half. This is a game he would never forget.
Terrell Davis is the youngest of six; all children are boys, Terry, Terrell, Bobby, James, Reggie, and Joe. Terrell was born in San Diego in 1972. His father, Joe Earl Davis, was a very violent man, one night he came home drunk about 2 A.M., and he pulled each of his brothers out of bed, lined them up against the wall, pulled out his .38 Special with black electric tape around the grip, and just started shooting right above their heads. On April 17, 1987, his father died of Lupus, an immune-deficiency disease in which the body doesn't recognize itself and starts to attack itself.
Terrell played baseball but wasn't much good at it. But football was different for him. He started out playing Pop Warner as the Velencia Park Saints, in Velencia, he played high school ball at Lincoln High School, and went to the University of Georgia and played College ball their. He wasn't the best football player in college, but his senior year he stepped it up to get into the NFL, especially his last two games in college. He was chosen along with fifteen other running backs to go to an annual NFL's scouting combine, it's another chance to make an impression on a team. For the physical he was stripped down naked, walked out on a stage, while the Teams' trainers took a closer look.
Terrell Davis was drafted to the Denver Broncos, a team he thought would never take him, during the sixth round of the draft. While on the Broncos he was a sixth-string running back and only went in a little bit during the pre-season his rookie year, but when he was in he did good enough to start at running back during the regular season. After his rookie year was over, he rushed for 1,117 yards, caught passes for 367 yard, for a total of 1,484 yards. During his next two seasons, the Broncos won the Super Bowl, for two years straight.
Terrell Davis still plays for the Broncos, and still continues to break records. He is one of my favorite players and I had the opportunity to meet him in 1999. I really admire his determination to the sport.
If you have ever read one of those books where they stay on the same subject forever, then don't read this book; he talks about the same thing forever. But this book is great for football fans, and even better for Broncos fans. I really liked this book since I could relate to Denver, since I used to live there, and it was really fun to understand where and what he was talking about.
Dreams In Slow Motion.......2001-10-15
In today's football world, Terrell Davis is known as a superstar, but not in the literature world. He was trying to accomplish this literature superstar role when he co-wrote his own memoir with Adam Schefter. An all pro athlete and a sports writer, a very thoughtless combination in the literature circuit. Throughout this novel, we hear some about the struggle of growing up in a bad neighborhood for Terrell Davis, but not nearly enough. This is mostly a story about football and migraines.
Terrell Davis had a troubled past and had to overcome it all to be a Super Bowl M.V.P. He wrote this book to let people all over the country know that they can overcome their troubled lives and turn a negative view of life into a positive one.
This book had its ups and downs, but for the most part it was down. It seemed, for the first half of the book, that every chapter went back to migraines and the repetition was incredibly boring. In the second half it was football and also came across as mostly uninteresting. I don't think that Terrell Davis was ready to write a book. He does not have the concept of grabbing the readers attention. Also, only having played two years in
the NFL, he wrote this book way to early in his career and could have made it much more interesting if he had let more of his career in it.
One thing that was good about this memoir was hearing his passion for football. If there was any sort of true writing in this book, it was when he was going deep into how he feels for the game. This is probably the one thing that keeps this book from being bought and then placed in the garbage.
So as a memoir, I believe this would be a poor choice for a well written piece of literature. Overall, this book ultimately shouldn't have been published for anything other than having Terrell Davis' signature put on it. But for sports fans, a Terrell Davis memoir with his signature on it would be a definite must have.
Terell is fine.......2000-02-08
Terell looks good and I bought the book for the pictures. I hope his future books have lots more pictures!
Td scorces a touchdown it is a great book.......2000-01-22
TD Dreams IN Motion is a great book. It is TD's memories in his pop wanner day's, College and NFL days. The book starts off when he plays for a pop wanner football. TD had a hard Knock life growing up. His dad was always in trouble with the law and his mom had other thing that she had to do. When his parrents split apart from each oher he was seperated from his mom except for on week ends. His dad tought his brothers and TD to be tough.Evently he played college ball but when his first collage cut the football progarm he went to gergia and played O.K. After his senior year he was drafted to the Denver Broncos and the 196 pick. He worked hard and went from 6th string to 1st string. John Elway and TD took their team to the supperbowl twice and won both of them.
Everyone should buy this book and make their kids read it!.......1999-09-12
Buy this book, read it, make your children read it and their children read it. At last a top flight sporting superstar who can truly be called a role model. Terrell's life story makes a great read and shows how hard work, determination and humility can lead a person to accompalish their goals.
The football stuff makes interesting reading, covering Terrell's first season, the loss to Jacksonville and ultimately SuperBowl glory.
It is the 'off-field' stories which really reveal Terrell in his true light- A Man, A hero and a Role model.

Book Description
This is the first book to examine the various uses of the Arthurian legend in Hollywood film, covering films from the 1920s to the present. The authors use five representational categories: intertextual collage (or "cult" film); melodrama, which focuses on the love triangle; conservative propaganda, pervasive during the Cold War; the Hollywood epic; and the postmodern quest, which commonly employs the grail portion of the legend. Arguing that filmmakers rely on the audience's rudimentary familiarity with the legend, the authors show that only certain features of the legend are activated at any particular time. This fascinating study shows us how the legend has been adapted and how through the popular medium of Hollywood films, the Arthurian legend has survived and flourished.
Book Description
From the hard-ridden half-pipe of a suburban driveway to teens doing boardslides down stairway handrails in Rio de Janeiro, from the bright-light glare of ESPN's X-Games to the groundbreaking street-skating videos of Spike Jonze, skateboarding has taken the world by storm -- and if you can't deal with that, get out of the way. In The Answer Is Never, skating journalist Jocko Weyland tells the rambunctious story of a rebellious sport that began as a wintertime surfing substitute on the streets of Southern California beach towns more than forty years ago and has evolved over the decades to become a fixture of urban youth culture around the world. Merging the historical development of the sport with passages about his own skating adventures in such wide-ranging places as Hawaii, Germany, and Cameroon, Weyland gives a fully realized portrait of a subculture whose love of free-flowing creativity and a distinctive antiauthoritarian worldview has inspired major trends in fashion, music, art, and film. Along the way, Weyland interweaves the stories of skating pioneers like Gregg Weaver and the Dogtown Z-Boys and living legends like Steve Caballero and Tony Hawk. He also charts the course of innovations in deck, truck, and wheel design to show how the changing boards changed the sport itself, enabling new tricks as skaters moved from the freestyle techniques that dominated the early days to the extreme street-skating style of today. Vivid and vibrant, The Answer Is Never is a fascinating book as radical and unique as the sport it chronicles.

Describing the color red.......2005-01-13
Growing up in the 80s I was surrounded by skateboarding, whether it be in the form of my Mom's friend's daughter showing me how to (attempt to) ride down the street at age 10, the kids skating in the "hip town" of Hyannis, MA (which was a "city" to someone from The Cape), watching my neighbors skate and build their own ramps, watching the early skate videos, or ogling through Transworld Skate or Thrasher and wishing I'd had enough coordination to actually be able to learn what I was seeing. I found this book at the public library and thought it might be an interesting read, but I had no idea what I was in for. Granted, Weyland's writing can be very subjective and he tends to "go off" about what skating has become (as many people who have been skating their entire life can), but what he wrote isn't just his complaints about skating and the industry. There's a lot of information about the history of skating (which a lot of people who claim to skate might not have any ideas about), and also stories about what skating was like before The Circus of what is now began. What he's written gives the person who doesn't understand skating the ability to have some inkling of what it's like, and to understand that "skating" isn't just what they see, but it's a culture, a lifestyle, a thought pattern, a philosophical journey, and can even be a family. One truly interesting part of the book (for me, being a 28 year-old college professor) is Weyland's comments and thoughts about going from being "in the know" to being considered "old." I would definitely suggest this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about the history of the sport and the genesis of what they see before them today.
Literary History of the Sport Lovingly Told.......2004-04-27
Weyland chronicles the history of the sport from its ancestry in Hawaiian surfing through its recent emergence as a mass-marketed ESPN drawing card. While carefully charting this history, he intersperses lenghty (though riveting) tales from his own experiences growing up as a skater. These tales, which are indicative of how the skating mileau of the time shaped him, are a valuable time capusle to which many readers will relate. He manages to do all of this very artfully so that what seems to be a bi-polar stucture is nearly seamless. Few books measure up to the narrative and literary standards I expect from authors--but this one far surpasses them (a pleasant surprise). Novice skaters and parents who wish to understand skating culture should read this book and also Tony Hawk's Operation: Skateboarder. Both are fast reads (despite their 300+ pagecounts) and demonstrate two contrasting aspects of the sport and the corresponding worldviews engendered therein. Really, it's so good if Weyland waxes poetic on ice fishing I'd have to check it out. Please note that this book is a lot more fun to read than my dull review.
the answer is..........2003-11-11
Indeed there is something to be said for reaching out with the internet. Jocko has, since my previous review, made good with a payment for the photo usage in this book, and has been added to my personal list, as another "Cadillac of Dudes".

don't give them what they want, give them what they need.......2003-10-05
Echoes many of my sentiments from the early days.
As for the days surrounding my involvement, it is how I remember it, and how I intended it.
That never happens, but it did in this book, and I don't even know this guy, and never talked to him. He did use some of my photos without asking me though, and I never got a dime. I can be reached through Thrashers publisher, in the event there is a check waiting for me, and no where to mail it.
fun book for anybody to read.......2003-08-10
being a 32 year old skateboard enthusiast (going on 18 years), i could feel myself re-living my past. he brings back the essence of what skateboarding is, was, and "will be" all about. i've had the wonderful opportunity to meet, and skate with this great author, and he truly does have a passion. the book is a part of his energy, and an element of the soul of skateboarding. i would urge anybody interested in skateboarding, or what skateboarding is about, to buy it. A+ jocko!

Gujarati’s Basic Econometrics provides an elementary but comprehensive introduction to econometrics without resorting to matrix algebra, calculus, or statistics beyond the elementary level. Because of the way the book is organized, it may be used at a variety of levels of rigor. For example, if matrix algebra is used, theoretical exercises may be omitted. A CD of data sets is provided with the text.

IS JUST AWFUL!!!!!!!.......2007-07-02
This book offers a poor treatment of simultaneous equations, time series and an obsolete sum notation.
Definitely I wouldn't recommend this book, At least not for 100 dollars.
It would be better for an undergraduate student to start with Woolridge's or
Maddala's.
Big Rip Off.......2007-05-12
This book is awful. Takes advantage of people that are studying with the Gujarati text book. Will not help you study. It contains no useful information...Don't buy it!!!
an useless book!.......2007-03-29
I actually even donot wanna give one star for this book.I was very disappointed when I got the book this afternoon. I wonder why this book would have been published.... I totally agree with the other "one-star" ratings' commmets on this page.
Do not buy it! I will take it to the post office and return it to Amazon tomottow.
worst book in universe.......2007-03-27
i bought this supplemental text as a refresher on econometrics. this workbook is profoundly horrible. it consists of exactly two things: definitions (which are already provided in gujarati's textbook) and some lines to write notes on. DO NOT BUY.
Not worth - don't get what it is for.......2007-02-24
This looked more like a notebook to me than anything. The definitions on the side were kind of the same from page to page, so I didn't get what the point was for this publication. I would not recommend this to anyone. I returned mine.

Interesting and useful, however contains a dangerous flaw..........2007-10-03
The book is an interesting read, however is missing some MAJOR puzzle
pieces regarding aging and slowing the process. The author talks about
several techniques used by Indian holy men/women to beat death and live
for hundreds of years. The author is TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE when he
talks about a practice that involve looking at the Sun ALL DAY LONG !!!
UV light BURNS...PERIOD !!! To suggest this practice in the context of
"holy" and "sacred" is DARK indeed ! Trusting people lacking in
common sense and bent on Self Improvement could seriously damage
their eyes. I understand Sun Gazing can be practiced safely...however
it is a discipline that requires KNOW HOW, safe times etc. The road
to hell is sometimes paved with good intentions.
Buy the book...but don't 'buy' everything the author writes.
Breaking the Death Habit; The Science of Everlasting life.......2006-03-09
Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. It is incredible. About a year ago I started seriously thinking about my own immortality but not really knowing how to begin to achieve my divine right of immortality. Leonard maps it out with humor, sensitivity and wisdom. It should be a must read on everyone's list. I am now practicing daily water/fire/earth and air purification according to Leonard's suggestions. Next will be over-coming the food/sleep addiction that we all seemingly have. Who knows I just might make it to immortality. Do yourself a favor and buy the book and then read it and then love yourself enough to start the purification processes as outlined by Leonard. Namasti. Some good advice, some religous garbage........2005-09-18
Lenny is a rare bird. In entertaining fashion he gives some cool practices on how to become one with the elements through Breathing, Grounding, burning off psychic dross, Rebirthing in water (Earth, Water, Fire, Air) and Living instead of dying. Lenny is one of the last to be preaching immortality the old fashioned way through consciousness and physical discipline before the age of nanotech/stem cell scientific immortality, and for that he should be praised. But, and this is a big BUT, this biblical garbage about the angel of the lord and jesus is just a bore like all religous dribble. You'll find more entertainment by getting on Lenny's mailing list and receiving his endless impassioned sermons on why you should send him money. Long live Lenny!

Do I detect sarcasm in an other review? I don't know if this was discussed in the book (I'm just providing a level-headed opinion on the concept) but if you are going to kick the "death urge" get rid of the urge to procreate first. I mean this in the most humane sence possible, not as an insult. The last thing we need is people who live forever and continue to populate an world already nearing capacity.
I'll check it out sometime, mostly as an exercise to expand my knowledge.
Nothing Is Impossible.......2004-05-30
'Breaking the Death Habit' is a revolutionary book that contains the secret to everlasting life in the physical realm. I consider every word to be true, as do the many friends to whom I sent a copy. All responded with a 'thank you' note, the most passionate being from devoted believers such as Buddy Ebsen, Art Carney, Milton Berle, Charles Bronson, Gregory Peck and Anthony Quinn. Need I say more?

Never buy this book! It is extremely short: 1940's-2000's period is covered on 2-3 pages. You will get nothing from it. Simply waaaayyy toooo short. Though practice exams are OK.

Questions are way off from the real thing, ineffective prep book, do not recommending buying it.
Avoid at all cost if you are taking world history.......2005-11-26
I used this prep book to prepare for SAT II World History
It proudly states that most part of the test is concentrated on European History.
Yes, it is true.
However, it basically does nothing to cover the rest part of the world.
And even for the European History, it just barely touches the surface that you get nothing out of it after the review chapter.
Compare the thickness of this book (which also has US History and two practice for US History) and other World History prep books.
It's way too thin physically, and in content.
Although other prep books may have too much extra information. However, too much is always better than too little.
I am not giving 1 star just because I haven't had chance to check out the US History section.
Customer Reviews:
I got an 800 from it!.......2007-07-01
I did it by going through the whole book twice. I didn't super memorize, but I talked about what I was learning with freinds frequently. The book made the material interesting, which helped me memorize. It was kinda like pleasure reading (but granted, I'm into history). I was surprised I got an 800, as the review didn't take much effort. just a heads up: I felt like I did pretty bad on the test while taking it. SAT tests sometimes have a pretty awesome curve, so don't get discouraged in the middle of the test.
Book Description
This history of NATO concentrates on the differences within the alliance, particularly between the US and its European partners. NATO's war against terrorism began on September 11, 2001. Invoking Article 5 was a fitting response to the assault on the United States, but the spirit did not last long. Within a few weeks, old fissures within the alliance re-emerged, threatening once again to dissolve an entity that had survived over half a century. In the first two generations of NATO's existence, the Cold War with the Soviet Union had been the major purpose of its existence. But since the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact and of the Russian Empire itself, NATO has struggled to seek new raisons d'etre, and has succeeded to some degree in finding them in crisis management in Europe and in areas beyond the boundaries of the alliance. The absence of a traditional enemy to serve as a centripetal force, along with the recognition of the US as the lone superpower, has placed a focus on internal troubles of the alliance that had been obscured in the past by the presence of a common enemy. Too little attention has been paid to such West-West conflicts which arguably have been more frequent and more bitter, if not more dangerous, than the struggle with the Soviet Union. Differences among the allies began with the formation of the alliance itself. Some were resolved, others persisted. Many of them related to "out of area" issues in which the Soviet Union was not involved or only peripherally concerned. How the alliance managed the unequal relationship in the past may offer insights into the common ground the alliance partners can identify in the 21st century.
Book Description
With America's WETLAND, award-winning photographer Bevil Knapp and veteran reporter Mike Dunne sound the clarion call of the catastrophic effects of Louisiana's vanishing coastlinenot just for Louisiana but for the nation and the world. This vital landscape known as America's Wetland is currently disappearing at a rate of twenty-four square miles per year and could lose another five to seven hundred square miles in the next fifty years if no action is taken. New Orleans could become "America's Atlantis," one of the country's unique cultures lost forever. Knapp's beautiful, sometimes startling photographs and Dunne's incisive commentary bring the urgency of this problem into full view.
Documented here is a way of life that is quickly waning. Fishermen, oyster farmers, cattle ranchers, oil industry workers, shipbuilders, and tugboat captains are all heavily dependent on Louisiana's coastal territory in bringing the people of the United States a host of products and services sometimes taken for granted. Home to nearly two million residents, the state's wetland serves as protection from hurricanes and storm surges and acts as a buffer for the city of New Orleans, identified by the National Hurricane Center as the city most threatened by the loss of America's Wetland.
The book makes clear that as coastal erosion in Louisiana worsens at an alarming rate, the nation's economic and energy security is put at ever-higher risk and the environmental repercussions become unthinkable. Aerial photographs show how the oil and gas infrastructure is becoming increasingly exposed to the Gulf. Wells, pipelines, ports, roads, and levees that are key to delivering energy to the nation have been made vulnerable. Louisiana wetlands are the natural nursery ground for much of the country's seafood and the wintering habitat for more than five million waterfowl and migratory birds. Stunning photographs of owls, pelicans, egret, crab, crawfish, and alligators illustrate the vast array of wildlife whose homeif not very survivalis endangered by the possible collapse of this intricate ecosystem.
America's WETLAND not only maps the causes and effects of Louisiana's diminishing coast but also outlines restorative and conservation initiatives such as tree planting, rebuilding fisheries, and setting aside wildlife refuges. With the active support of all Americans, there is still hope that this imperiled border of the country can be saved.

A Wonderful Read.......2006-01-25
This was a great book! I was especially impressed with the interview they did concerning what would happen to New Orleans if the levees broke. (This was written pre-Katrina.)
Definately a great book for yourself or for a gift.
An important book at a critical time!.......2006-01-24
This is not only a very beautiful coffee table book on Louisiana's wetlands, its wildlife, and people; but it couldn't have come at a more critical time. The chapter entitled "America's Atlantis" on New Orleans predicts exactly what happened to this great American city. If you've ever wanted to know more about not just our vanishing coastline, but also about Louisiana's unique culture, this is THE book!
