An American Bush Pilot in Guyana
Robert Rice
Manufacturer: Great Commission Air, Inc.
ProductGroup: Book
Binding: Paperback
ASIN: 0971841500 |
Book Description
This is a collection of eleven short stories about the experiences of a pilot flying a small aircraft in a remote area of Guyana, South America.
The author recounts the challenges of flying a Cessna U206 among the tiny Amerindian villages, providing humanitarian relief in the form of air ambulance for the sick and injured and as cargo transport for medical facilities.
The work was hot, sweaty and dirty. The airstrips were short and rough, hand hewn by the villagers with hoes and machetes.
The stories all include interesting characters that the author worked with and served and describes the silly and the sad aspects of trying to provide aid in this very poor, rural, third world country.
The stories are all true.

I've read this book 5 times as its informal editor.......2002-06-15
I've read this book at least 5 times - more for some chapters - and I've thoroughly enjoyed it evey time. Rob has a way of capturing stories that take you there. As a family, he, our baby daughter, and I served in Guyana six months Feb 2001-Aug 2001. It was a tremendous experience and the aviation service saved many lives. I hope that he will keep writing and that you'll look for those stories about our next project in Guatemala!
Best book I ever wrote!.......2002-03-29
No, really, it is. You should read it.
Book Description
If at one time the Dallas Cowboys were America's Team, Roger Staubach was America's Quarterback. Roger the Dodger was a real-life embodiment of apple pie, world championships, and role models. Staubach was a Heisman Trophy winner at Annapolis who served four years as a naval officer before going on to a stellar eleven-year career with the Dallas Cowboys that included four NFC championships and two Super Bowl titles. Considered the master of the two-minute offense and late-game comeback, Staubach eventually earned a spot in the Cowboys' illustrious Ring of Honor and, ultimately in 1985, the Pro Football Hall of Fame. If ever there was a perfect meshing of franchise, coach, and on-field leader, it was the silver-white-and-blue Cowboys of the seventies with Tom Landry strolling the sidelines in his trademark fedora and the unflappable Staubach barking signals. He led the NFL in passing five times, and when he retired at age thirty-seven he departed t!
he game in possession of the highest quarterback rating of all time. After his retirement from football, he pretty much left the game behind, forsaking a shot at coaching or television commentary to focus his energies on the corporate world as chairman and CEO of the Staubach Company, a diversified commercial real estate company. Roger Staubach: Captain America is an oral history of Staubach's life, times, and career. It is told in the words of dozens of former teammates and opponents, friends, business associates, civic leaders, acquaintances, and others who have known him over the years. Staubach turned sixty in 2002, and this book offers a touching and telling testimonial to a true American hero and role model.

Customer Reviews:
One of the best books about Bond!.......2001-02-08
This was a quick pick at an airport one day and I was amazed at all the goodies inside. If you've ever wanted to know every language that Bond ever spoke, what gadget or gizmo he used in which movie, or all the aliases he's ever used, this is the book for you. "The Bond Files" is a great book with all kinds of facts, trivia, and information for each story, comic, and movie. The authors even review the opening title sequences and have a nice synopsis of each movie. They don't miss much with this book.
The Only Thing "00" About This Is Its' Rating.......2000-11-20
As a huge fan of James Bond in all his various incarnations, I was interested to find a copy of this book the other day in a sale and purchased a copy. My doubts about its' value however began almost immediately, after all how serious can you take a claim that a book is the definitive account of a subject when the authors start by rubbishing their competitors. For the record there are a number of excellent "glossy" style books with flash pictures that are just as good, if not better reference books than this one. Also the number of different accounts of the James Bond phenomenon make it impossible for anyone to claim their version of events is right and everyone else is wrong. Top that off with the fact that the authors here give new meaning to the word "nitpicking", but ironically while they mention some totally pointless trivia connected with various stories and movies, they actually managed to miss a number of other more important details. At the end of the day this is a comprehensive, though at times patronising, account of the world's greatest secret agent. But don't be fooled, there are better books around if you want, and don't be surprised if "M" puts out a 'terminate with extreme prejudice' order on these two authors !!!
BRING IT BACK!.......2000-09-09
One of the best books to have on James Bond.
Just what makes him tick? Read and find out!
I musht be dreaming.......2000-06-27
Although it's a purely text-only paperback, an totally unauthorised, this fantastic reference work scores highly on account of the fact that it doesn't just cover the films - it has everything from the novels (and not just the Ian Fleming ones) to the comic strips that were published in the Daily Express, to the 'James Bond Junior' cartoon series, to 'Casino Royale', both television play and film. It even has a small chapter on the cultural impact of Bond, and the various Bondalikes, from light spoof such as 'The Man from UNCLE' to more serious works from Len Deighton and John Le Carre. It's a shame that this wasn't made bigger, really - although it could easily have become unworkably huge, there isn't much to explain exactly why Bond has appealed to us for almost half a century, and how he has changed to fit the times.
As far as the book goes (and that's pretty far), it's perfect - wisely, the authors don't try to 'rate' any of the Bondibles, although they do go so far as to suggest that some of the later John Gardner novels are less impressive than his earlier ones. The attempt to keep up with the constantly-shifting Bond biography is amusing, too - Fleming's Bond was born between the World Wars, and would now be enjoying retirement, something which seems unlikely to happen to 'our' Bond any time soon.
A James Bond Bible for the Hardcore Fan.......1999-09-04
This really is the best coverage of all the Bond adventures. It has every movie, spoof, comic, TV show, even the James Bond Jr. cartoons. This is the perfect way to brush up on facts. And since the authors don't work for Gildrose, they don't always have to be nice about Bond. Where else can you find everything from the plot of an obscure short story to critism of Sean Connory's wardrobe from Never Say Never Again. Truely this is the James Bond Bible.

Customer Reviews:
survivor - palau: country tie-ins.......2004-12-26
It seems as if Survivor will be airing yet another show in 2005 as Survivor-10 or Survivor-Palau.
I wonder how much these show actually help the host country? For example, the country domain is .pw and www.survivor.pw could be used as a fan site for Survivor-Palau. Have the show's producers considered this?
Slick and pretty, but not very interesting.......2002-01-23
As if Burnett needed more marketing for his piece d'resistance, hit TV series Survivor, here comes a pretty picture book to make you feel bad for having missed the first series. Except... Burnett should feel bad for missing the strengths of the first series' BOOK. Unlike the "Field Guide" to Survivor I, there's little interesting in the way of additional material or structural insight. If you're a Survivor fanatic, you may enjoy some banter about Australia's surivalist history and environment. If you need some toilet reading, you may enjoy the study cover and pretty pictures. If you're looking for something intelligent, exciting, and revealing, this ain't it.
Not at all like the first book (BEWARE).......2001-09-15
If you are looking for a book like the first one detailing the original Survivor, do not buy this one. The book is informative and should of came out during the airing of the Survivor II. It does take you back to Borneo, gives you insight to why they picked Australia (and especially the Queenlands area), and some history of Australia. The next chapters tell about the personality of the survivors and their strategy to win. Where as the last chapter talks about survivor and how to become a contestant.
Very informative; a must for survivor fans.......2001-07-19
Not only does it gives the reader in-depth information about the castaways, their motives and their demeanor, but also gives useful facts about the Australian Outback in which the 2nd installation was set and filmed. It's useful both as a resource book and information (especially if you wanna know more about the castaways and things they had to put up through during their stay in the Outback.) Even though the show is over, still it is a survivor fan's must-have or must-keep collection. So if you wanna have a piece of the second season of survivor, or looking for more information on the show and the land they filmed it.. I say you check this one out.
Don't Waste Your Time, Survivor Fans.......2001-07-11
I made the mistake of reading Field Guide after Survivor II aired, but -- even if I had done so beforehand -- it likely would have been just as boring. Unlike Mark Burnett's first book, which was almost as exciting as the t.v. show, Field Guide contained 150 pages of pure filler. From its "strategy sessions" to its extremely generic contestant profiles to its plethora of full page photographs, this book was a waste of time, plain and simple.

The Budapest Castle.......2005-02-15
What is the location of the Budapest Castle?
(a) On Castle Hill, overlooking the Danube
(b) Just south of the Chain Bridge, next to the Matyas Church
(c) It's right here, on my map of Budapest! In square C8
(d) On square a6
If you said that it starts out on a8, moves to a6, and then sails towards the kingside on the sixth rank, then get this book. You won't be rooked!
This is an excellent book about the Budapest Gambit (1 d4 Nf6 2 c4 e5).
My primary defence against 1 d4 is the Semi-Slav. But I've used the Budapest a couple of times as a second-string defence and won with it both times. So I was eager to see what Lalic has to say about it. He says it is playable.
I've always suspected that the Budapest is not really sound. But Lalic supplies answers for all of White's serious options. After 3 dxe5 Ng4 (Lalic also analyzes 3...Ne4, the Fajarowicz gambit), White has plenty of possible moves:
4 Qd4 d6 5 exd6 Bxd6
4 Nc3 Nxe5 5 Bf4 Nbc6
4 e6 Bb4+ 5 Bd2 Qf6
4 e4 Nxe5 5 f4 Nec6
4 e3 Nxe5 5 Nh3 g6
4 f4 Bc5 5 e3 d6
The Budapest Castle variation starts with 4 Nf3 Bc5 5 e3 Nc6. White used to get an advantage with 6 Nc3 0-0 7 Be2 Re8 8 b3 Ngxe5 9 Bb2 Nxf3+ 10 Bxf3 Ne5 11 Be2. But then Black started playing 11...a5! 12 0-0 Ra6 (this is the infamous Budapest Castle). Black seems okay after that.
That leaves 4 Bf4, White's most dangerous move. Lalic gives several ideas for Black here. One is 4...Bb4+ 5 Nd2 d6, which is risky but merits a look. The best idea is 4...Nc6 5 Nf3 Bb4+ 6 Nbd2 Qe7 7 e3 Ngxe5 8 Nxe5 Nxe5 9 Be2 0-0 10 0-0 and now Lalic claims Black can equalize with either 10...Ng6 or 10...d6. I think it requires plenty of work to play either of these moves against a prepared opponent.
Just in case you are thinking about trying the Budapest and your previous main defence to 1 d4 has not been 1...Nf6, there is something really fundamental you need to know! Half the time, White won't let you play the Budapest! You'll find yourself on the Black side of 2 Nf3 or even 2 Bg5. Against 2 Bg5 (the Trompowsky) you can play 2...Ne4 and reply to 3 Bf4 with 3...d5 or 3...c5, but neither are the Budapest! Meanwhile, 2 Nf3 is a total transpositional swindle. You'll probably wind up in a Queen's Gambit Declined after 2...d5 or in some sort of Indian defence! Here, I play 2...e6 and after 3 c4 (if I don't want a Semi-Slav) I settle for a Queen's Indian with 3...b6. My choice is not between the exciting Budapest or the dull Queen's Indian. I have to know the Queen's Indian either way. The Budapest is my alternative to the Nimzo-Indian.
I recommend this book.
A surprising weapon........2002-06-21
My first by of a Batsford Opening Guide and I was pleased. I was a bit afraid that the book would be kind of too encyclopedia like. But in fact it tends to follow the quality of the Gambit Guide series. Chapters begin with an evaluation of the specific system it explains. A moderate amount of selected games with good commentaries. I feel secure now to be opposed to this opening.
very good book, slightly dubious opening.......2000-03-18
This is a well written book with a lot of good annotation. However, the opening itself can often require giving playing black N & B vs. white's bishop pair in an open position, but black has had free developement in return (somewhat similar to the nimzo-indian). It is best used as a suprise weapon, but when ever you use it it will be a suprise. It is a good opening for speed games because there is a trap on move 8 & 9 of one line that opponents of mine have fallen into more than once, i.e., 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e5 3. dxe5 Ng4 4. Bf4 Nc6 5.Nf3 Bb4+ 6. Nbd2 Qe7 7. a3 Ngxe5 8. axb4? Nd3! mate. This book is worth buying but I would recommend learning more solid openings first. Try the nimzo, semi slav, king's indian, etc.
The Budapest Gambit.......2000-02-18
I personally spent about one and one half years trying to find a reply that I liked against queen pawn openings. I finally was convinced by this book that the Budapest was for me. The book is very well written. It helps you quickly find the variations that you would like to play and contains many subvariations in model games to help you against strong moves as well as unusual moves. And many club players don't encounter it often, so the opening has surprise value. The top scholastic players in this area use it on a regular basis. If you like to attack, and hate defensive positions against 1. d4, then try the Budapest Gambit.
Book Description
In a typical organization, there's always plenty that to do such as: pay vendors, invoice customers, answer customer inquiries, and fix bugs in hardware or software. You need to know who wants what and keep track of what is left to do.
This is where a ticketing system comes in. A ticketing system allows you to check the status of various tasks: when they were requested, who requested them and why, when they were completed, and more. RT is a high-level, open source ticketing system efficiently enabling a group of people to manage tasks, issues, and requests submitted by a community of users.
RT Essentials, co-written by one of the RT's original core developers, Jesse Vincent, starts off with a quick background lesson about ticketing systems and then shows you how to install and configure RT. This comprehensive guide explains how to perform day-to-day tasks to turn your RT server into a highly useful tracking tool. One way it does this is by examining how a company could use RT to manage its internal processes. Advanced chapters focus on developing add-on tools and utilities using Perl and Mason. There's also chapter filled with suggested uses for RT inside your organization.
No matter what kind of data your organization tracks--from sales inquiries to security incidents or anything in between--RT Essentials helps you use RT to provide order when you need it most.
Customer Reviews:
Dissappointing.......2007-01-11
I was very dissappointed with RT Essentials. I had been using and administering an older version of RT for some time, but when I upgraded to the current version I thought I would benefit from reading this book. There are a lot of new features in the later versions and this book just barely mentions them. I had the feeling that it just almost told me what I wanted to know, but not quite. I would very much like to see an expanded, more detailed more comprehensive edition. I think it would take a book twice the size of the current edition to do RT right. I want complete tutorials on writing scrips, using templates, using custom fields, using saved searches, etc.
Helpful, but already dated.......2006-08-07
Request Tracker (RT) is a great product. I am the only sysadmin at a small company, and having an automated tracking system is going to be an immense benefit for me. I bought "RT Essentials" to help me get up to speed on RT3 really quickly. And, since it was written by the programmer who's responsible for RT, the book had lots of detail and tips.
However, when it came down to implementing some of the code in the book, I found that it was already outdated. For example, I tried to set up the Autoreply template with Password by copying the code straight out of the book. It didn't work because the program codebase has changed too much since the book was released.
I was able to fix my template problem by hooking into the great RT user community, where the author contributes frequently.
All in all, I thought the book was really helpful for getting RT installed and getting me up to speed. For the nitty-gritty, I'd rely on the online wiki and great user community.
Excellent Software, but Average Book.......2006-05-01
We've been using RT for several years. As one happy customer mentions at Best Practical's site, managing a project or service driven organization without RT is like watching TV without a TiVo. The software is powerful, flexible, and above all, adaptable to many styles of management for more than just technology projects. No question, the software gets 5 stars.
This book, however, is largely a reorganization of the information provided with the software. If you prefer to read printed materials instead of PDFs or HTML, this book will save you money on printer paper. But if you're looking for best practices, recipies, or enhancements such as those you'll find in the RT Wiki, you may be disappointed. In fact, for most of the advanced capabilities, you are referred by the book to other resources. The book does contain the occasional nugget, such as a half dozen lines of code to truly delete a ticket and related data. With some searching, you'd be able to find those, and better, at the RT Wiki, such as the particuarly valuable contributions from the University of Oslo (do an A9 search for "RT prosjektgruppen").
Compared to most O'Reilly books which set the bar for excellence, this one is merely average. However, I do recommend this book as an introduction for those considering whether it's worthwhile to move to RT from some other enterprise ticketing system, and for techs to give to managers who are more comfortable with hard copies than electronic documents. For any RT admin, it's certainly worthwhile to have documentation printed and organized in an easy reference, considering how much you've saved on the excellent software itself.
QUITE THE TRACKER!!.......2006-02-21
Are you an end-user, system administrator or developer who interacts with RT on an occasional or regular basis? Authors Jesse Vincent, Robert Spier, Dave Rolsky, Darren Chamberlain and Richard Foley, have written an outstanding book that is for everybody who has to use RT to manage tasks.
Vincent, Spier, Rolsky, Chamberlain and Foley, begin by providing some background about what ticketing systems are and how they can help save your job and your sanity. Then, they walk you through the process of setting up an RT server and configuring sane system defaults. The authors continue by showing you how to get up and running with RT's web interface. In addition, they explain how to interact with RT from your shell or console window. The authors also step you through the basics of turning a virgin RT server into a useful tool for tracking what you need to do inside your organization. Then, the authors show you how to extend RT's standard behavior with custom business logic. Next, they provide a look inside the RT configuration at Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems, a nonexistent company that makes heavy use of RT to manage their internal processes. Next, the authors walk you through RT's files on disk; as well as, the details of its database tables. Then, they describe how DBIx::SearchBuilder works. Finally, they show you how to set up a local sandbox for modifying and extending RT without putting your production server in harm's way.
This excellent book will be considerably more useful to you if you have at least a basic understanding of the Unix command line. Above all, this book will be very useful to you if you also have a basic understanding of Unix systems administration skills, and at least a little bit of experience programming in Perl.
general inner structure of RT .......2005-09-25
The RT Essential describes the general inner structure of RT software. It mainly helps RT user to understand how to install RT and how to use other tool software ,such as perl and mason ,to develope RT for his own construct. It describes each item in RT generally.
RT has many application.many company use it to develope custumer service system,So I hope the author to write developer book on RT for programming.

Book Description
The wars with the Indians were the longest running conflict in American history. This highly illustrated encyclopedia reveals the common threads that weave through the four centuries of clashes, from Columbus's voyage to the Wounded Knee Massacre. While people automatically think of the Revolutionary War or the Civil War as defining moments in American history, the wars with the Indians were strikingly important in shaping the destiny and mythology of the nation. Encyclopedia of American Indian Wars notes the inevitability of conflict between western and native cultures given the great disparity in values and customs, especially with regard to land ownership. It also analyzes the many indirect changes in Indian lifestyles caused by the settlers --such as the introduction of iron implements and firearms --which changed the balance of power between traditional enemies. In a wide-ranging panorama of 450 entries and 70 illustrations, this comprehensive volume provides an in-depth analysis of pivotal battles, famous and infamous leaders, and broken treaties. It explores lesser known subjects, such as dog soldiers, ghost dancing, scalping and scalp bounties, staked plains, praying towns, the Galvanized Confederates, and stories of white captives, some of whom preferred life with Indian captors over rescue. Encyclopedia of American Indian Wars paints a complete, objective, and detailed picture of the bloody conflicts that gave birth to the nation --and their terrible cost.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

I was lucky that I found that book.......2007-01-03
This "Introduction to Lens Design" is both, an introduction to optics and an introduction how to work with the
ZEMAX optical CAD software. The book starts with basic explanations of lenses and glasses, describes various lens aberrations,
and covers a wide field of practical optics applications. The required mathematic skills are moderate, nevertheless
there will be no leaks and holes left in your knowledge after the final exam. One can jump immediately to
solve optics design problems, even when you are new to the field. If you are familiar with computer CAD programs
you will return quickly with a CAD presentation of the solution, regardless which engeneering discipline
you belong to.
