        5 out of 5 stars Funny stuff.......2004-09-11

Dance Till Tomorrow is an excellent manga series. The humor is adult natured, but is not the typical romantic-comedy that is prevelant in much manga. The main characters are flawed, complex, and often don't even know what they want themselves. I find that a nice change and fairly realistic. The art is high-quality with little use of filler or stock images.

Fans of manga like Ranma and Ah My Goddess will find the humor to be a little more adult and the characters more complex.

5 out of 5 stars A Mature Manga for the Mature Reader.......2000-09-20

Without a doubt, Dance Till Tomorrow is an essential manga for the mature and discriminating reader. The story is complex, funny, and sexy all at the same time. Best of all, it portrays realistic characters in realistic situations. While it is not a kids title, all the sexy situations are very tastefully done and unless you have some real problem with sex, you'll have no problems with this title. So go ahead and read it, you won't be disappointed!

4 out of 5 stars A very adult version of the usual manga ride.......2000-06-09

This book is all about a young college boy who's suddenly came across MILLIONS! But the strict condition of striking it rich is that he better not touch a single dollar bill until he at least graduates from the college and gets a wife. And along comes a very mysterious con artist in the form of a sleek young sexpot to cattily manuipulate and guilt the poor kid into giving in - though he VERY STUBBORNLY refuses to despite the actual sexual scenes which are very titillating indeed as well as home-cooked dinners (which the girl obviously isn't as good at). In addition, the young hero's got a role with a play he's rehearsing and he happens to be IN LOVE with a much older but nevetheless pretty young woman in charge of the whole setup. And what really tangles things up is the sudden involvement of the scar-faced gangsters at the play that the young "harlot" had secretly invited along! Though this stuff is supposed to be from "Pulp", a special new manga for the mature audience, the characters themselves seem to be forever in their pubescent stage as in virtually all the other cartoons from Japan, both hand-drawn and animated.

3 out of 5 stars Tasteful and playfull........1999-06-06

Poor Sueichi- but his situation does make for comic-relief. The author prefers to use everyday life in his stories, the story and art are great! Just enough sexiness to give it that spark of life.

5 out of 5 stars funny ,sexy and very clever!!.......1998-11-28

This manga is just great! It features a young student who inherits millions (in condition he graduate and marry) and a woman who probably just wants to get hold of the money. Viz were very brave to publish this book because it doesn't offer violence and fantasy related themes and it targets mature readers while the american comics market is pretty much juvenile. It is a very witty book, but if you want porn or violence look somewhere else.

As all gay men know, there's drama and then there's drama. Being genuinely torn between two lovers, for example, versus having slept your way through your entire zip code. Minor spats with your best friends versus a web of allegiances, grudges, and hearsay approaching Versailles in the era of Marie Antoinette. Or being a few days late with the rent versus your landlord asking Gucci and Prada to shut down your credit.

For those queens who can't tell the one from the other--you know, the ones who live their lives like some high-volume hybrid of Valley of the Dolls, Absolutely Fabulous and Titanic (the sinking ship part, not the love story)--dramatologist Patrick Price (Husband Hunting Made Easy) has written a rehab guide to every aspect of a gay man's life susceptible to a high DQ (that's drama quotient). That is, friendships and family, dating and relationships, money and career, self-image and attitude, and aging (which the drama queen obsesses over so much (s)he doesn't know it's possible to do it gracefully). The book's not quite as funny as you'd like--it's full of anemic "gay twist" jokes ("there are times you'd swear your life is a rerun of Dynasty and everyone thinks they're Alexis or Sammy Jo"--yawn) that make you hunger for a little more bitchy pointedness. The advice is so general and thin it could apply to anyone, straight or gay. And its overall PG-13 content--disappointingly free of even veiled references to wild sex, rampant drug use or anything else that makes gay life truly, interestingly tragic--leaves even the tamest of Will and Grace episodes looking racy by comparison. But it's that essential wholesomeness and common sense--not to mention a plethora of irresistible Cosmopolitan-like "Test Your Own Drama Quotient" quizzes--that makes Price's book one that even mothers could safely give their drama queen sons...or, perhaps more fittingly, the other way around. --Timothy Murphy

        Book Description

For many gay men, drama is an essential spice of life. They'll spend the rent money on shoes, spread more gossip than E!, and every minor incident is cause for a major scene. While often mistaken for harmless fun, in reality it scares off friends, irritates family and co-workers, and sends strangers running for cover. But finally, there is hope.Drama Queen is the essential guide for recognizing, acknowledging, and turning down the volume for every drama-loving man. From drama's roll call (The Gym Addict, The Big Ho, the gossipy Public Address System) to the laws of friendship ("Return calls-in this lifetime") to quizzes to help identify your own DQ (Drama Quotient) ("Is Aveda's 24-hour hair emergency hotline on speed dial?"), Drama Queen explores the unique and oft-misunderstood dynamics of our lives. From compulsive spending ("What would Tom Ford wear to mow grass?") to building careers ("There will always be 'school nights'") to the puzzling ritual of courtship ("Fax me, sometime"), Drama Queen is fast, funny, and delivers a healthier option than accepting the worst and expecting the world.

        4 out of 5 stars Interesting, isn't it?.......2004-01-02

I have to point out that having read all seven of the reviews for this book, it seems as though the ones who rated this book so low have written reviews that border on the dramatic anyway! Who's being the drama queen now, guys? ;)

Seriously, for many of us, Price's book doesn't really apply. However, there are a couple of places where there are grains of good advice and even -- gasp! -- truth. Read it for the fun of it. Certainly I don't think even Patrick Price would say it should be a gay man's guide to life. Have fun with it!

1 out of 5 stars Save your opinions for someone who cares, Mr Price.......2002-03-10

I bought this book in the hope that it would be light-hearted humor, in the vein of Kevin Dilallo's "The Unofficial Gay Manual". It's not. It's Patrick Price's heavy-handed lecture on "How All Gay Men Need to Fix Their Lives". The only drama queen in this book is the author.

1 out of 5 stars the unbearable lightness of being.............2002-01-25

this book is one of the most lightweighted, unintelligent and meaningless books targeted toward gay readers I have ever come across. The writers hopeless attempt to be a sort of funny, but still real advisor in nearly embarrising to witness. Its so full of cliches and useless nonsense that anyone, in or out of the closet, rich or poor, better save their time -AND MONEY.

        5 out of 5 stars Life, is a drama..........2001-10-09

Well, for anyone who has read, "The Boyfriend Within", this adds a fun and sassy twist on that book. It is good for those who are looking for some direction in their life, and not looking to be the next flaming queen at the clubs who can never seem to keep his latest beau. If you are growing out of the 'scene' and looking for a new direction in your life, this is a GREAT find! Funny, sassy, and helpful...

        1 out of 5 stars .......2001-08-28

Do we really need another book on how to live our lives? As gay men, we scream out for diversity and tolerance. Unfortunately, Mr. Price seems to want to "pigeon-hole" us into nice little categories. The book may be okay IF you 1)never leave NYC, 2)are financially secure, 3)are white, and 4)have a 30" waist. Those of use who are "sociodemographically challenged" should find this book quite hegemonic. My advice: pass.

4 out of 5 stars Great for fans of Bombshells and good for Jayne Mansfield fans.......2007-05-24

Few have covered the era of the pin-up as interestingly as Steve Sullivan. This
book puts a history and personality behind some of the classic glamour girls of the
50s and 60s. He covers everyone from movie bombshells, to pin-up models, to the
burlesque performers. Each featured woman has an in-depth biography as well as
a sizeable list of their film and pictorial career. The women with the largest amount
of ink devoted to them are Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page and Jayne Mansfield. Other
women featured in this book include Mamie Van Doren (the cover girl), Julie
Newmar, Bunny Yeager, Sophia Loren, Tempest Storm, Lil St. Cyr and Brigitte
            Bardot.

            The Jayne Mansfield chapter:
First of all this is a good introduction to Jayne for the new Jayne fan. Despite little
inaccuracies such as the wrong birthday, the misspelling of Jayne's middle name
(it's JaYne not Jane, I have a copy of her birth certificate) and confusion around the
type of bathing suit(s) she wore to the Underwater! premiere, this is a decent
biography. Where we seem to get off track in the bio, as well as the bios of the
many other women in the book, is that the author becomes annoying and
redundant when trying to decipher 'why' Jayne or the subject was famous. The
book is also rather self righteous with it's findings of supposed surveys of
international cinema and glamour girl fans. Indeed, this is something the
writer--Mr. Sullivan seems to be partly obsessed with is surveys. He runs several
YAHOO! groups where he does nothing but run surveys of famous women.
Supposedly he is compiling information for another book. We'll see. But back to
THIS book, written by an obviously straight man, we are forced to sit through
paragraphs and paragraphs of ink concentrating on Jayne's breast size in
comparison to the sizes of other female stars. It gets boring and at times, almost
goes off track. I suppose we had the Martha Saxton women's lib fodder in her
book, and 20 years later we have Steve Sullivan's T&A fodder. Those are my main
complaints about the Jayne chapter. Otherwise, it IS a decent biography on Jayne
by a straight male fan who truly seems to 'get' her. The Jayne chapter IS filled with
a delight--some rare quotes. The author must have done some extensive research
because they are at times new to even me! There is a particularly extensive
overview of Jayne's early modeling years. Jayne's early years can be confusing
and the author does a good job of time and placing things. There is a filmography
included and some great shots of the glamazon Jayne, with the focus being on the
50s. All in all...pretty good Jayne bio and a treat for fans of all bombshells.

5 out of 5 stars This book is how I "discovered" Bettie Page.......2003-09-27

Being 41 years old now, I missed the majority of these women when they were in their heyday. But this is the book which introduced me to Bettie Page back in 1998. She is the cream of the crop. I didn't know who she was before I picked up this book, but now I am hooked for life. Nice reference book with detailed biographies. I recommend this highly. It's a classy and well done.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Of The Glamour Girls.......2000-03-27

This book is a must for anyone who longs for the glory days of the hollywood bombshell. It features stars, pin-up girls, and strippers from the 1940's to 1960's. Each woman has a complete biography that includes the films she was in, the magazines she appeared in, and any other relevant media in which one might be interested. The author has even gone to the trouble of letting you know who was still alive at the time of printing which is something I always wonder about when I'm reading up on famous faces of the past. The book is chock full of pictures in both color and black and white. The book is very beautiful and quite informative.

              Book Description

The 70-284 Exam Cram 2 covers what readers need to know to pass the exam - a popular elective for the MCSA (2000 and 2003) and MCSE (2000 and 2003) programs as well as 1 of 2 Core Messaging exams for the new MCSE 2003 Messaging Specialist program. The exam measures readers' ability to implement, manage, and troubleshoot an Exchange Server 2003 organization.

This book is the ideal refresher for readers who are familiar with the exam material or for readers who are in need of more in-depth study material it is the ultimate complement guide for larger training guides, instructor-led classes, and/or CBT training.

              Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Far Too Basic.......2006-08-30

Other Exam Cram books are pretty good, but this book is the exception. It is far too general and seems copied from help files. The index is limited, e.g. only one reference for global catalog, and the over author's knowledge seemed questionable when he documents requirements for a global catalog and a domain controller (page 17) and fails to realize a global catalog is a domain controller.

The quiz questions are far too generic and simplistic, e.g. what tool do you use to enable mailboxes? On the real MCSE exam, they delve into infrastructure design including routing groups vs. Active Directory site, and far reaching questions.

I couldn't really recommend this book, especially after being spoiled by official Microsoft material, such the one by Orin Thomas (ISBN 0-7356-2136-5).

4 out of 5 stars not bad if you want to simply pass the exam.......2006-05-19

This was the only book I read before taking Exam 70-284 to become MCSA: Messaging 2003 certified, and I scored an 850. The book covers the essentials that you _need_ to know, and it was helpful to go through the scenarios and actually play with the server in a Virtual PC session.

              Beefs:
              * not enough exam questions. This book comes with end of chapter, then end of text questions, which are at least as difficult as the exam will be -- so you better answer them correct most of the time. The CD only includes 60 questions, it would have been helpful to have more, however you can give PrepLogic money and they will give you more practice exams.
              * Not enough emphasis on routing; the exam I wrote had 6 out of 30 questions on this topic.
              * numerous factually incorrect situations in the text: sometimes as simple as the proof-readers missing the change from Windows 2000 -> 2003 (DOH).

All in all if you just want to pass the exam and buy just one book, get this one. If you really want to learn the software inside and out, don't count on this book as your sole source.

5 out of 5 stars Very nice prep guide.......2005-08-10

ExamCram books have gotten a well-deserved reputation for being lightweight and insufficient as a primary study guide. This book is an exception to that rule, however; it is much thicker (almost 500 pages) than most in its series and more comprehensive. I attribute much of that to co-author Orin Thomas, who also co-authored the Microsoft 70-292/70-296 and 70-299 Training Kits, two of the best study guides I've used yet.

This book has well-defined chapters, ~10 practice questions at the end of each chapter, two 60-question practice exams at the back of the book and a third more-detailed practice exam on CD. All practice questions have detailed explanations of why the right answer is right and why the wrong answers are wrong.

I highly recommend this book for the 70-284 exam. Don't let the fact that it's an ExamCram book scare you away, as this is a big cut above the rest of the books in that series.

5 out of 5 stars Good Preparation for the Exam.......2004-05-27

This book covers, in condensed format, the material tested on the Exchange 2003 exam. I wouldn't recommend this book to someone who had no experience with Exchange 2003. All books in the Cram series are for people who either have other study materials and need some sort of summary document, or for people that have extensive experience with the actual product. In my own case I had experience with Exchange 2000 and had read a few of the Exchange 2003 documents available on technet, so this guide was perfect for my preparation.

I did some research into the competition, it is interesting to note that one of the authors of this book Schmied also wrote the competing Sybex book on Exchange 2003 exam (ISBN: 0782143385). Also interesting is that one of the technical editors on this title, Willis wrote the offering from Microsoft on the Exchange 2003 exam (ISBN: 0735618992).

The accompanying CD-ROM full of practice questions are helpful in preparing for this exam. I recommend that if you do have some experience with Exchange 2003 (or have significant Exchange 2000 experience) you'll find this book pretty useful. If you are coming to this topic unprepared, you may have some success with other more indepth titles that aren't "Crams", but even with longer books you are going to struggle on test day.

                Book Description

Hellenism is the living culture of the Greek-speaking peoples and has a continuing history of more than 3,500 years. The Encyclopedia of Greece and the Hellenic Tradition contains approximately 900 entries devoted to people, places, periods, events, and themes, examining every aspect of that culture from the Bronze Age to the present day. The focus throughout is on the Greeks themselves, and the continuities within their own cultural tradition. Language and religion are perhaps the most obvious vehicles of continuity; but there have been many others--law, taxation, gardens, music, magic, education, shipping, and countless other elements have all played their part in maintaining this unique culture.

Today, Greek arts have blossomed again; Greece has taken its place in the European Union; Greeks control a substantial proportion of the world's merchant marine; and Greek communities in the United States, Australia, and South Africa have carried the Hellenic tradition throughout the world. This is the first reference work to embrace all aspects of that tradition in every period of its existence.

                Book Description

The Cambridge Illustrated History of Germany presents a richly illustrated, integrated, chronological account of German history from Charlemagne to the modern era. Written in a lively, accessible manner for a general audience by a leading academic expert, this book is unique in its authority, approach and scope. Martin Kitchen focuses particularly on the German people - their culture and society. In this way he illuminates and puts into perspective the country’s political history, from its origins as a collection of small, German-speaking states to its present-day status as a major European and world power. In special illustrated boxes and panels throughout the book, he reveals the great cultural and intellectual contribution Germans have made to the world through the works of figures such as Martin Luther, Bach, Kant, Wagner, and Gropius.

5 out of 5 stars A superbly presented, single volume history.......2001-04-28

The latest addition to the outstanding "Cambridge Illustrated History" series, Martin Kitchen's Germany presents a lavishly illustrated, integrated, chronological history of Germany from the era of Charlemagne down through the end of the twentieth century and German reunification. Here is a compendium of the culture, society, political organization, national tragedies and personal triumphs of the German people. Special illustrated boxes and panels enrich the informative, "reader friendly" text throughout and provides a superbly presented, single volume history that is a welcome addition to academic and community library world history collections.

                5 out of 5 stars Germany by a German.......2001-03-14

This text should not be demoted to decorating a living room's coffee table because of its "Cambridge" denomination and fancy pictures. Some of these "decoration" books do contain excellent write ups. Ignoring Mr. Kitchen's dissertation on the history of Germany would be at your own peril if you own the book already and, except for martini stains and dust, choose to ignore it. This history of Germany explains in a fascinatingly succint style key aspects of the German nation and German ethos: the Holy Roman Empire, the Hanseatic League, the Reformation, the Industrial Revolution and, inevitably, the Third Reich and the Holocaust. There are excellent art and culture sections describing anything from Goethe's Romantic world and the Grimm Brothers' fantastic tales to the Bauhaus. If you want to own a book to impress your friends, buy it, but buy it mostly to be impressed by it.

                4 out of 5 stars Good Book.......2000-12-11

I had to use this book for a class on German history. Although it was not required material for the class, the wealth of information helped me keep a handle of the flow of the nation's history. This book is rich in pictures and is one of the best books that I have ever seen on German history. Highly recomended.

Life Skills is presented in such a way that one can do a section each day, week, or month. It really provides some tools to help one understand the changes that may be taking place subcounciously. Truly a recommended tool for people of all ages. Too bad they didn't provide this as a senior class in high schools.

I have read lots of different books for establishing direction and purpose for my life. LifeSkills has been the best thus far at providing a thoughtful, insightful approach to addressing the most crucial areas to being a complete person (spiritual, physical, career, etc.). If you like books like Steven Covey's series or the "Parachute" books, then you will profit immensley from this. Be prepared to be honest and reflective with yourself. You can spend hours or days on it by going one chapter at a time. I read it every year just to remember what I'm made of and what I want to become.

                      Book Description

Authored by EPA, this reference book provides a complete guide to systematically evaluating and organizing data, information, assumptions, and uncertainties so that you can understand the relationships between human-induced changes and their ecological effects. Using that information, you can then predict the likelihood of future adverse effects, evaluate the likelihood that effects are caused by past exposure to stressors, and make informed environmental decisions.
