Good Easy read.......2007-09-27
this is a very easy read, and finishes up the new batman villian story line
Graphic SF Reader.......2007-09-03
Jim Lee continued to deliver some solid artwork, and while the second part may not be quite as good as the first part, with some of the mystery starting to become obvious, and be revealed, it is still a good story.
Tart Huntress detracts a little, I think, too, being visually jarring. The twist involving the master planner wasn't obvious though, so all in all, looks very good and well written.
My son loves this book.......2007-02-07
My 17-year old son is a Batman fanatic and really likes the illustrations in this book. He said he'd highly recommend it to any Batman fan.
hush 1 was pretty good, hush 2 not as good as 1..........2007-01-23
first off, this should have been collected in one volume. i can understand that they wanted to get it out in stores so they split it up, plus they can charge a couple of extra bucks...but it's been out for a while now so it should be in one volume.
the story is pretty good, not incredibly great, i think loeb maybe went off on too many tangents trying to involve every single great batman villain or ally somehow into the story (plus the 'twist' ending is pretty obvious). but it's certainly not bad and worth reading. jim lee's art is great.
You have to read this one.......2006-08-26
Hush is the reason why I began to read Jeph Loeb's work on the Dark Knight. This Volume 2 is the conclussion of one of the best (if not THE one) contemporary stories of the Knight Crusader.
Jim Lee's art is impressive and the plot written by Jeph makes the perfect match. This is a MUST READ for all the followers of the Batman.
This story is taken from the regular Batman comic and twistes every character in Batman's world. Nobody escapes the grasp of Hush; not only villains but also heroes; everyone can be (or will be) corrupted by his stench.
After this awesome story you'll be only able to whisper: "Hush, Batman, hush".

Book Description
A stunning foray into the mind and actions of the acclaimed actor/writer/director who worked for more than five years to produce first a play, then a movie, now a bookhis most personal work to date, a searing Holocaust drama starring David Arquette, Daniel Benzali, Steve Buscemi, David Chandler, Allen Corduner, Harvey Keitel, Natasha Lyonne, and Mira Sorvino. Tim Blake Nelson's powerful account of what inspired him, and how he prepared himself and others to make this haunting movie, reveals how and why a writer/director chooses such a difficult subject and surmounts its challenges. First realized as a play, which earned numerous awards, the story is based on historical events, centering on Auschwitz's twelfth Sonderkommando squad, prisoners assigned work in the crematoria, and their struggle to organize the only armed revolt in October of 1944. Financed by Millennium Films, produced by Killer Films, and released by Lions Gate Films in the US, The Grey Zone debuted in the United States in October 2002, garnering major media attention.
This book is the definitive record of Nelson's journeyfrom his initial readings and research, to assembling a brave cast that could tackle the material, to reconstructing the crematoria 80 percent to scale on location outside of Sofia, Bulgaria, and to his work with the art director, costume and production designers, and others on his team.
To acquaint his cast and crew with the difficult material, Nelson summarized his research and his cinematic vision in a compelling, lengthy pre-production memo, which is reproduced in this book. Also included are his screenplay, his annotated reading list, movie stills, excerpts from an essay by Primo Levi, and the source chapter from the book Auschwitz: A Doctor's Eyewitness Account, by Dr. Miklos Nyiszli.

Excellent Essential Reference for All Crossword Puzzle Fans!.......2004-09-22
If you are like me, you have probably picked up a few reference books over the years that you have been using to solve crossword puzzles. These books are great for many purposes . . . but leave me at sea (or "asea" as many puzzle answers call for) when it comes to popular culture names and references.
Now, that problem is behind me after acquiring and enjoying Shirley Kading's excellent resource, Crossword Names to Know.
Ms. Kading has done a great service by keeping track of the names and clues she has run into over the years where without specialized knowledge (either historical, cultural or entertainment) of many different periods no one would ever hope to get the answers. I checked through the book for all of the ones that drive me crazy . . . and found them in the book. Do you remember who the screenwriter was for The African Queen? Do you know who composed Scratch My Bach? Who was an actress in Zorba the Greek? If these aren't a cinch, you need this book.
This book will help a young puzzler learn older references (especially from early television and movies) and older puzzlers learn newer references (especially from recent television and movies).
I know that some purists think that you should never use a reference book. But what about reading and memorizing these answers? Wouldn't that be fair? The choice is up to you . . . as long as you have a copy of this fine book.
The book begins with a section of last names in alphabetical order. That section explains who the people are. So if you have the last name (or part of it) in the clue (or in your mind), you can get the rest.
If you have the first name but need the last name, the next two sections are for you. They have female and male first and last names in alphabetical order by first name. You also find out what the person did. So you can use these sections as cross references to find the last name you are looking for when just the first name is given or remembered by you.
The section I liked best is the last one, where clues to arts and entertainment names are in alphabetical order. The clues are often to movies, television shows, music, art works and some role played by the person. In most cases, you have more than one choice to get you started. From there, if the answer isn't in the book, you will just have to go back to a Web search having ruled out a number of the more obvious choices.
I think the book is a very good value. There are more than 480 pages of material with about 30 listings per page. Every listing that I knew the answer for was correct, so I'm assuming the others are as well.
Puzzle on!
Nice names to know.......2003-11-24
This book takes all of those names that you just can't put a finger on and lets you know it. It is cross referenced and is very helpful for an avid crossword puzzler. Great Book

Customer Reviews:
Only Buy one Title from Author.......2006-03-15
I have purchased 3 books by Gary Chefetz. The first on Project Server 2002 was excellent, just the chapter on how to install and configure Project Server was worth the price of the book. This book "Managing Enterprise Project Using Microsoft Project Server 2003" is a very good hands-on tutorial style book. It does not give you a tremendous amount of background information around project management or on how to structure a project management office using Project Server as a tool, or why it is that you would do something one way as opposed to aother. But it is a very good intoductory and hands-on book. I have also purchased another of the author's books, and to be honest there is about an 80% overlap in content. Same text, same screen shots, with possibly two chapters being substantially different. So I would caution anyone to purchase more that one title from the author because of the high redundancy factor in the different publications. He has the word processing template down cold. It struck me that the author would make an excellent consultant, because the books tell you enough, without you yourself really being able to do it yourself, which then means you have to rely on their consulting services. After you have read these books, be aware that some assembly may still be required.
Good, but not Great..........2005-08-22
After having been spoiled by Mr. Chefetz's Project Server 2002 book, I was disappointed in this work. My primary complaint with this book is that it is much less complete than the earlier book. As another reviewer mentioned, this edition does not even have an index. In addition, the coverage of enterprise outline codes, enterprise fields, Project Web Access views, built-in functions and the differences between Project Center and Project views was all less than stellar. The other gripe I have is that what was deliverd in one book before (Chefetz's 2002 book), is now separated into two $50+ books. Is this a conspiracy by the publisher to sell more books?
That being said, the basics of MS Project Server were covered, and this book should serve well as an introductory treatment on the subject.
I'm still looking for a solid reference manual for the 2003 product.

They're not called MSProjectExperts for nothing..........2005-03-30
This book is packed with tips and recommendations you won't find in other books like Step by Step and SEU. It adds another layer of knowledge to make you reach a deeper understanding of the complex environment which is Project Professional in a Project Server system. And best of all, it's easy enough to read to be the first book you read on the subject.
Meat and Potatoes.......2005-02-02
I have Gary's PS2002 book and was fortunate to sit with him and observe him troubleshooting one day.
Just like the PS2002 version Gary and Dale have done a superb job for Project Server 2003. If you are a PS Admin and you do not have this book, you are probably doing it the hard way.
Both the 2002 and 2003 versions capture the "Meat and Potatoes"
of what Project Server is all about.
There is only one word to describe it, "Invaluable!"
Timothy D. Smith I - Collaborative Technology Architect/Admin
This book has NO index.......2004-12-01
I just got this book and one of the first things I noticed is that there is NO index? How can any technical book not have an index, especially since I plan to use this as a reference book.

Book Description
It is clear that artifacts have the power to provoke thought, inspire action and arouse passions. There is evidence of this in the ever-increasing number of museums as well as in the ability of those museums to stimulate controversy through exhibits. As a consequence, much has been written analyzing the interaction between objects and museum visitors. Less well recognized, or understood, is the value of objects for historical research. In this series of books we propose to show by example how artifacts can be employed in the study of the history of science and technology in ways ranging from motivating a line of research to providing hard evidence in the solution of an otherwise insoluble problem. The first volume focused on medicine; in this, the second volume, the topic our authors address is electronics. As readers will discover, there is considerable scope in the range of topics and in the range of uses of artifacts. There is also a section that suggests to readers what kind of questions they might consider when they visit electrical exhibits, and where those exhibits are to be found. This series is sponsored by the Deutsches Museum in Munich, the Science Museum in London, and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, with help from professional historians in other museums and elsewhere.

Why we save things and how collections inspire museums........2003-03-02
Book Review: Exposing Electronics
edited by Bernard Finn, Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC
Exposing Electronics is the second Volume of a series "Artefacts: Studies in the History of Science and Technology". (Artefact: a functional or decorative man-made object) "..historians are using technological artefacts in the study and interpretation of the recent past. Their work is largely pioneering, as they investigate approaches and modes of presentation."
While a delegate at IEEE Sections Congress in Washington DC, last year, a group of us were conducted around the exhibit "Information Age" in the Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of American History. Our guide was Bernard "Barnie" Finn, who is a curator and designer of "Information Age".
Our small group of electrical engineers heard a "behind the scenes" explanation of how the exhibits were put together with the rationale of attracting and holding the interest of the public of all ages. To us it was fascinating - not just a collection of original objects, but a story line threading through communications - telegraphy, telephony, digital, satellite; computation - calculating engines, data processing, real-time data bases; electronic devices - control, power, integrated circuits. The displays of artefacts were supplemented by photographs, posters, videos, and original films which helped our understanding of the motivations and needs of the engineers and scientists who built them.
"Why" are there museums and how do things end up displayed in museum exhibits? Exposing Electronics tells us about the "Information Age" exhibit and points out many of the problems in communicating the history behind the objects.
Why do we go to museums? The theory of learning is touched: What is the necessity of prior learning for vision? The role of the curator- `first helps visitors to see artefacts more clearly, then imbues those artefacts with symbolic values that come from their function and history.'
Exposing Electronics is worth having from many points of view.
It is a high quality publication 19cmx 24cm filled with interesting chapters, historical photographs and clear drawings of electronic devices - J.A.Fleming's valves; Wilhelm Cauer's calculating engines, Baaken's transistor devices, Boysel's microprocessor, Seymour Cray's supercomputers, I.I.Rabi's molecular beam apparatus.
The stories are those of our contemporaries and predecessors. The chapters have many notes which support the observations and conclusions, and invite further investigation.
The final chapter "Collectors and Museums" suggests the origins and uses of why we save, classify, index, record, things as a hobby, and how these collections can end up in museums. "Collectors help to shape museums, and therefore to shape the ways we present our cultural identities to ourselves and to others." The author notes that `Electricity is well represented in museums throughout the world.' and lists five pages of them around the world- one near you

Book Description
We are now entering a world of electronic communications where an increasing amount of contemporary information is created and retained only in electronic form. How will such unstable flows of information be preserved for future historians? Will the future have a past? Will the history of our contemporary world be lost to our descendants? Historians and Electronic Artefacts is the first publication to examine the implications of this revolution for historical research. Historians are used to handling paper and parchment record in archives. These are actual pieces of correspondence which passed between historical actors. They are also relatively stable artefacts which can be preserved easily. Two factors introduced by the electronic revolution threaten the existence of paper archives: the dissociation between information content and the media by which it is transmitted ruptures the solidity of the archival object. The ability to store electronic information anywhere and access it remotely via networks could make the central paper archive redundant. Experts from the fields of information management and technology, data archiving, library science, as well as historians, consider the issues raised in depth. The authors also place a unique emphasis on European developments.

Book Description
Dismissed from their posts as victims of Nazi racist policies, or for their opposition to the regime, many scholars from Germany and Austria came to the United States where they learned to reassemble the pieces of their lives and careers. This book concerns the stories of these exiled scholars who came to hold faculty positions in historically black colleges. Illustrative stories, anecdotes and observations of the developments between two diverse groups of people, both victims of racist oppression and persecution, are presented to contribute to cross-cultural understanding in American society. Historians and others interested in minority and immigration history and cross-cultural encounters will gain a new perspective on race relations.

THIS BOOK WILL SAVE YOU ALOT OF FRUSTRATION, time, and money with attorneys. Because this book, tells you what they "Attorney's" ( and in this case I mean 'ALL' Attorney's) won't tell you. It also gives good references to follow up resources.
Get a current "Compact Edition of Trust Law" for your state Probate, at the same time you get this book. It will be the best way to know your states probate proceedings specifics.
If you are hesitant to spend money for this book, just do a Search Inside, and go to Chapter 3, Page 2-4, Be Aware of Covetous Attorneys.
<--- Read this twice. YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS.
You need to know why attorney's are creating a situation to support coaxing you to believe, you need a Trust Officer, Co-Trustee.
This book will tell you, that attorneys' know the statue allows them to receive payment of 2% of the trust/estate every year when it is over 1 million dollars.
This book will tell you, having an outside trust accountant is not infallible. And YOU, as Trustee, are still held accountable, if your co-trustee, or trust official handling the court accounting, or finances, invesments, or yearly accounting makes errors, or absconds with funds.
Often, attorney's will look for the smallest reason to talk trustees in to hiring a professional co-trustee/trust official, and to bring this suggestion before guardianship court to fill their bank accounts, yet they will tell you this is the only way to satisfy your disgruntled relatives. All the while
they are attached to all the management of the trust gonig forward.
Because of disgruntled relatives, you will really need to contact your state bar association and Read the Compact Edition of Trust Law, like you breathe air .... daily.
FINALLY if you are a visual person, you will want to check out the contents and several pages of your interests of the following booK, as it is equally a TEN STAR BOOK ----> The Trustee's Guide An Essential Handbook for Trustees, Beneficiaries, and Advisors (Paperback) by Howard I. Gross (Author)
You need to remember the Attorney is not the boss of your relatives Trust.
If you are the Trustee, you need to let acquisitive attorney's know you are not willing to expense the estate friviously and understand, you and you alone are accountable, without throughly exploring the disadvantages before giving a written approval.
Great For Beneficiaries .......2007-05-12
This book gives you the know how in calling out bully trust officer activities. Buying this book will help you leave your ignorance at the doorstep.
Good general overview.......2007-05-07
This is oriented to trusts in general, while I needed information on special needs trusts (SNT). A separate section detailing differences between SNTs and other trusts would have been useful. For those things that are common between SNT and other types of trusts, this provided good coverage.
your trustee duties; how to dissect a trust contract,.......2005-07-19
the book arrived in a timely manner, it was in excellent condition, it met my expectations.

How To Dissect.......2003-05-24
I used this book in my homeschool dissection club and found that it is a good reference tool, but lacks a thorough description of the internal anatomy. The diagrams of the internal anatomy are also very vague. This book is best used with online dissecton diagrams and instuctions. In a nutshell, this book came in handy every time I dissected, but only after I had a complete understanding of the internal anatomy of the specimen from other sources.
An amazing book that shows the internal anatomy in detail.......1999-05-28
I have been looking for a book about dissection for many years. Now I have found one. This book is graet. Besides have detailed discription on dissections it also has many experiment to go with the dissection. This book is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This book should be made a compulsory school text!.......1998-09-02
I am a privileged owner of the 1961 edition of this book, having bought it in a jumble sale in 1984 for a mere Singapore 70 cents (less for U.S.). Open-ended & with great science projects, this book defies obsolescence and is a must for any parent/nation committed in honing young minds into the field of experimental biology and science.
With this book, William Berman leaves a legacy which plays surrogate to any young inquiring mind wishing for the most inspiring biology teacher.
To William Berman...Thanks!

Book Description
Salvelinus species are one of the most thoroughly studied groups of fishes. Many reasons explain this intense interest in charr biology. Charrs have a Holarctic distribution encompassing many Asian, North American, and European countries and occupy diverse marine and freshwater environments. Furthermore, the current distribution of charr includes areas that were directly influenced by climate and topographic change associated with the many Pleistocene glaciations. Undoubtedly, these conditions have promoted much of the tremendous morphological, ecological, and genetic variability and plasticity within
Salvelinus species and they make charr very good models to study evolutionary processes 'in action'. Many charr species also exhibit demographic characteristics such as slow growth, late maturity, and life in extreme environments, that may increase their susceptibility to extinction from habitat changes and overexploitation, especially in depauperate aquatic habitats. This vulnerability makes understanding their biology of great relevance to biodiversity and conservation. Finally, charr are of great cultural, commercial, and recreational significance to many communities, and their intimate linkage with human societies has stimulated much interest in this enigmatic genus. This volume comprises a selection of papers presented at the fourth International Charr Symposium held in Trois-Rivières (Québec, Canada), from 26 June to 1 July 2000. It includes 31 papers on ecological interactions and behaviour, trophic polymorphism, movement and migration, ecophysiology and evolutionary genetics, ecological parasitology, environmental stress and conservation. These studies cannot cover all recent developments in the ecology, behaviour and conservation of
Salvelinus species, but collecting them into a special volume should bring attention to current research on this important genus and stimulate further work on
Salvelinus species.
